eh.. yeah.. me too.. ~.~ it was gay... XP especilay with how evil all the people were there.. but i started in 8th grade so i didn't get the hole full experience thing with the clarinet.. crying i feel left out... ~.~ oh well..

there were 3 people in junior high band at my school

hmm lets see what to say i dunno i've been playing for going on four years now.. i love my clarinet and no matter how much my BD tells me too i will not switch to a brass instrument jus to be in jazz band.oh!! jus a question wanna see what ppl think... Do you think clarinets should be aloud to play in jazz band? I DO! i can play the music that they're playing and jazz bands have clarinets too!! have ya ever heard of dixie land jazz?? it has to have clarinets!! isn't that awesome? but ya anyways at kleast highschool bands have clarinets.. yes i am in middle school still.. yes i know..such a shame but oh well i dun care it aint my fault my mom didn't have my brother and me at the same timeor me before him.. that'd be cool but ya anywasy back on subject.. CLARINETS ROCK!! smile well that's really all i have to say if you wanna talk pm me i suppose

I heart love heart clarinet. I'm not very good at Bb soprano because I only played it in 5th grade then I switched to contrabass and that's what I've played since then other than every so often switching back for a random song. Especially the ones that went above high C because no one else in the clarinet section could go above that. rolleyes It even has a low C extension on it. xd And in reference to wicked_13 /, yes clarinets should be in jazz band but only one or two. no more. someone has to hit the flute/piccolo range notes.

clarinets work as an alternate sound to the sax section, in a jazz big band. However, they don't have the flexibility, nor the power for those as well as saxs do.
Which is why combos are the place for jazz clarinet to shine. That's why my combo was so glad to get me ^ ^

Ash Rail i didn't even do band in junior high there were 3 people in junior high band at my school scary o.o;; i like my band actually...and there are over 600 people in the whole school who are in band...it's not boring nor do we play boring music :3...we are actually one of the best in America o.o;; and known by lots of people or so my band director says stare and our band director sometimes gives out money xD.

lol indeed but its sad how they forget your names...
reminds me of summer school in band...this flute player whose going to eighth grade hated this one clarinetist because he did the circle of fifths and fourths in 25 seconds, she always called him willis instead of micheal...I did not understand that.

lol, what five seconds is the fastest then for the circle of fifths and fourths? o,o;; hm maybe i should set my goal for that...::grabs a piece of paper and wanders away for a minute or two::

see, we had to memorize them both back freshman year.
Best way I could come up with it was playing it as fast as I could.

wow. My band director said that in college she didn't really memorize the fifths well and a very simple way to find what the other side is if you know the other is to add two numbers in the circle from both sides that equal seven. so the first time that helped me i'm getting a bit better though :3 I had to look at it all day to memorize my scale key sigs
but scales are horrible in my opinion sweatdrop i watched two guys i know kick the stands in the choir room yesterday. After we played a solo piece together one of them asked me what i thought of scales and i said they are the devil's evil songs. Then they told me to kick the stand with them and we all did xD! my music fell all over the floor and i was worried that my bd would open the door and see all my music on the ground and think i kicked the stands...but she didn't so it was all good lol o.O;;

Hi, I'm Mercedes and I'm a junior at La Joya Community High School and I've been playing the clarinet since 4th grade. It's a lot of fun. But even though I go to this school, I have to say the Sierra High band is the funnest band ever!!

sierra vista or sierra? sweatdrop I went to a high school called sierra vista for a competition...first competition ever in sixth grade :3 got straight excellents sweatdrop
