I just bought this game and I must say, it's probably my second favorite of the series. It's storyline is quite interesting. I love the whole Barow/Godwin rivalry. I prefer the Godwins. Gizel is so unpredictable, I love it! At the moment, I'm in Rainwall. It's a very pretty town!

Compared to III and IV, I find the regular battles in V are more challenging. Perhaps it's just I seem to have less money and can't afford as many Armor/Weapons. I would start trading, but I'm so used to the log on III that I can't tell what's cheap or not without it.

Sorry I haven't been around. This guild kinda died for awhile, so I left, but then I relocated to a new state. Anyway....
I have to agree Zerase is awesome and I used her a lot along with the sombero guy. Give him a bunch of runes and he's the best fighter I had.

Has anyone else had a hard time getting through the Twilight Forest?
I don't remember if I've brought this up before but I'm having trouble getting through it,any pointers? I could use any advice..

I could use any advice.. Probably one of the most annoying maps in all of Suikoden. I had to use a map. I think you can find one on either IGN or gamefaqs.

I dunno. I certainly agree that Suikoden V isn't the greatest game ever made- hell, it's my least favorite in the main series. Still, there are some redeeming factors.
I liked the new Rune family almost as much as I loved all of the Suikoden IV throwbacks (Chisato's puppet show made me laugh so hard). I thought the return to the Short/Medium/Long-Range battle system could have been done much better, but it was good to have it back. As for characters, a lot of the smaller ones were kickass and almost made up for some of the rather lackluster mains. Isabel and Mathias are my favorite Maximillion Knight duo, Ferid and Arshtat were awesome, Eggbert cracked me up, and the Barows in general were campy and hilarious.
There are definitely problems. I thought Faroush/Freyjadour was really boring, even for a silent character (I personally think that Suikoden's Silent Heroes have personalities aside from the ones you give them. IMO, Tir has the most, with Lazlo at a distant second and Riou at an even more distant third). Georg ******** Prime didn't do much, and Sialeeds... well, you know. Lyon was awesome, though.
I think the biggest problem is That Damn Camera. Why would they take away the one feature of Suikoden IV that no one complained about?
