vampiric_lust Jack only caught part of what Locke had whispered to Charlie, but it was enough to sorely tempt him to make a sarcastic comment. However, arguement was never productive, so Jack refrained. He sighed as he followed the others up the trail. It was going to be one hell of a climb, but Jack wasn't about to let Locke's "destiny" win out.
"Can we make it up there by nightfall and back to camp by noon tomorrow? I don't want to leave Boone and Shannon to their own devices for too long. If anything happens while we're gone..." Jack began.
He wasn't about to give away Shannon's secret and start Locke on another one of his "this island has a plan" rants... Locke grinned. "Oh, I think we'll be back far before then." He replied. He then turned to them, a serious look in his eyes. "RUN!" he shouted. He pulled out his knife and held it out. "SOMETHINGS COMING!" He shouted. Sayid grabbed Charlie by the arm and began running him up the steep hill. "Come on!" He shouted to Jack.

eek
The words barely registered in Jack's mind before the adrenaline kicked in. He took off as fast as he could after the group. Jack didn't know what he was running from. All he knew was that he didn't fancy being caught by whatever it was. They ran until they were breathless and barely had the strength to stand. Locke stopped running and the group stopped just short of creating a four man pileup in the middle of the jungle. Jack's lungs were burning as he broke the silence.
"What the hell was that?" Jack asked.
He looked behind him just to make sure the coast was clear. He turned back to face the group and found the three others making their way up into the trees. Jack rolled his eyes and climbed a nearby guava for safety.

Charlie was wincing. "That damn blugger bit me!" He shouted. He then looked over at Locke. "What the bloody hellw as that?" He held the radio close to himself. Locke took a deep breath. "That . . .was a little something I like to call a wolf . . .a big . . .wolf." He replied. Sayid looked around from his tree and looked down at Jack. "Are you okay?" He asked.

Jack looked up from the branch below Sayid.
"Yeah, I'm okay. I'm fine," Jack replied. "One more thing to add to the list of animals you were sure weren't native to the South Pacific."
Jack looked around at the ground. The wolf didn't seem to be within the vicinity. Jack slowly climbed down a few boughs before jumping out of the tree. He looked up at everyone else.
"I think it's safe to keep moving," Jack replied. "Is everyone else okay?"
He looked up at the other survivors who were all now also climbing out of their respective trees.

Locke's eyes scanned the area. "Yeah . . .lets keep going, a little further I think . . .then we'll stop and try the radio." He turned to Charlie. "Are you okay?" He asked. Charlie handed the radio to Sayid and looked at his arm. It was worse than he thought. His arm had a deep gashes in it where the creature had bitten him. "Damn . . ." He replied. Sayid winced. "Ouch . . .that must hurt." Charlie shook his head. "No . . only a little bit." He said. Locke frowned. "Come on, we've got to keep moving."
(I got to go! I'll PM you when I get back on tomorrow!!)

((okay, see you! I'll just close off this scene...))
Jack looked at the group and turned to Charlie. The gash in his arm was deep but wouldn't need sutures. Luckily. It would, however, get infected if it wasn't cleaned out properly before it clotted.
"Wait. Just give me a minute. I have to clean out that wound so it doesn't get infected," Jack said, motioning to Charlie's arm.
He took out a water bottle and a piece of gauze from his backpack. Charlie looked away as Jack poured water on the wound and washed all of the dirt out of it. Jack finished quickly and bandaged the cuts with a few strips of cloth. After packing the paraphernalia back up the group kept moving. The sun was still rather high in the sky, but Jack wanted to be quick. He didn't fancy being out in the jungle at night with that wolf on the loose.

Soon they made it to one of the highest points of the island. Sayid turned to Charlie, "Here, try it now." Locke stopped and sat down, his eyes scanning the jungle. "We should do this quickly so that we can get back to the caves before it's fully dark." He replied. Charlie winced as he picked up the radio and sat down with it, holding it in his lap. "Maday . . .maday! This is one of the survivors from flight 815. We're alive and need help. We're on an island." There was static for a moment, then . . .
"Hello, I hear you. What do you mean? There were no survivors of that flight." The voice replied.

Jack angrily snatched the radio from Charlie's lap.
"I repeat, we are survivors of flight 815! How do you know there were no survivors if you haven't found the wreckage?! Mayday, I repeat, survivors of flight 815. Our plane went off-course..." Jack shouted.
He had realized from the beginning it was futile, but the looks the other survivors gave him are what finally disheartened him.

(Fine, why don"t you just ignore me wink )
Boone watched the entrence of the caves, waiting impatiently for the others to come back. Would they be able to get off the island soon? He wasn't sure if he wanted or not..He felt nice on the island, like if it was where he was suppose to be for now. Going back there, especially with pregnant Shannon would be chaos.
He sighed and looked over his shoulder to Shannon. What would happen between the two if they were to get off this damn island? She'd probably want him to stay away from the baby and everything..just to keep a 'good' reputation for herself. Boone shrugged and looked down.
"I hope they won't come get us soon.." He said, more to himself than anybody else.
((Well I have to go now, my teacher is gonna catch me if I stay on. Byebye! I'll be back later tonight))

"Look, there were no survivors . . .the plane crashed. Something went wrong with the system." The voice replied. "Now who is this?" Charlie took back the radio. "My name is Charlie. Look, we're alive. We're not dead! Where are you?" He asked. There was silence for a moment, then. "I'm on some island. I'm the only survivor. . .of . . .flight . . .so you know!" The radio was going in and out again. "damn bloody radio!" Charlie shouted.

Shannion crossed her arms and plopped down onto the hard floor of the cave. She sighed and shook her hair away from her face, as she picked up a rock and twirled it in her fingers.
"No telling when they'll be back.." She commented indirectly just wanting to break the silence.

Claire had stayed back with Boone and Shannon to keep a good eye on the two of them. She sat back in her part of the cave singing softly to the little one in her arms.

[Prisoner_Of_War] "Look, there were no survivors . . .the plane crashed. Something went wrong with the system." The voice replied. "Now who is this?" Charlie took back the radio. "My name is Charlie. The radio was going in and out again. "damn bloody radio!" Charlie shouted. Jack stared intently at Charlie as the younger man tried again futilely. He ran an impatient hand through his hair and sighed.
"What the hell was that? If the only person who hears us is some other yutz on an island like us, trying to get himself rescued, like us, then we'll never get off of this God forsaken chunk of useless land in the middle of who knows where!" Jack shouted.
His anger was beginning to get the best of him.
"We'll try one more time. If it doesn't work, we're heading back to camp for the night," Jack suggested.
He tried to stay calm but it was difficult with all of the worries, fears and frustrations clouding his judgement.

Charlie sighed as he started to talk to the voice. "Look. We're from flight 815. We're alive. Now, where are you and what flight are you from again?" "I'm on an island. And I'M from flight 815. I was the only one who survived." Charlie frowned. "What's your name?" He asked. "Ethan . . .my name is Ethan . . ." Charlie's heart stopped.
