Shoneah smiled faintly. "Thank you. I think I should first speak with those who do the hunting, in this situation. That would be Daeron, right? Perhaps Wren?"

She had noticed that Daeron seemed to do the most hunting and that Wren went out once in a while, but that they seemed to be the only ones. She was aware that some of the others didn't use hunting weapons, and others she simply didn't know about.

Though perhaps if Kyrie was going to tell them where to find the animals they would need, she might join them as well.

"Yes, and ada can hunt too, though..." Miyuki paused, "I don't know if he has since we came back here. I don't see why he couldn't, his sight is no different than an average human's of this world and they hunt all the time."

There was an issue with his hearing, but she was sure it shouldn't affect his hunting skills too much.

Shoneah had never been told directly what had happened to Miyuki's father, but she had heard bits and pieces of conversation during her time with the group and was fairly confident that she had put it together herself.

"But does he not also have trouble hearing?" she asked. "That would be very dangerous, to hunt and not be able to hear if anything was coming up behind you ..."

"His hearing is a bit muted," Miyuki admitted, "Probably more than the average person."

That is, someone who didn't even have elven hearing to begin with.

"He can't hear very soft sounds and has trouble in large crowds, but as long as he's not alone," Miyuki trailed off.

She just didn't want him to lose whatever abilities he had because of his other handicaps.

Shoneah nodded. Hunting alone was usually the best because there was less chance of scaring away their prey, but even when hunting in groups it was necessary to be able to communicate with everyone around you.

"Well, perhaps you should speak with Kyrie then," she smiled. "And maybe while you're doing that, I can speak with Daeron and Wren and see if I don't ... disgust them."

"It'll be fine," Miyuki assured her, "I'll talk to Kyrie later on."

Since they just got back to the camp. She also wanted to see what the other Pokemon were up to while they were gone.

A few days later found Kyrie at the clinic, doing basic cleaning while Ahkshi checked on Mailon.

The White Elf was healing up very quickly now that Ahkshi was allowing him to, but Kyrie still hadn't gotten up the courage to face him again since she'd forced him to recall his memories of his first life. Still, she had made a point of coming to the clinic anyways, and things had been getting somewhat dusty in this dry weather.

Uruloki wasn't being very helpful. He was perched on Kyrie's shoulder, and every time she leaned over to sweep, dust or move something, he flapped his wings for balance and spread the dust further.

"You could just sit on a chair," she pointed out to him, half smiling as she straightened up and tugged him off her shoulder and into her arms.

"What's the fun in that?" the little dragon quipped, chuckling softly.

At that moment Miyuki stepped in with Yasu and Suki right behind her. She knew those two didn't get out as much and it would be good for them to see what a city was like. It would also be good for Suki to learn to stay close.

"What's fun?" Miyuki asked having only caught the tail end of the conversation.

"Bugging Kyrie while she's working," Uruloki replied with a gleam in his golden eye. He spread his wings and glided over to a chair.

"More like making it difficult to get any work done," Kyrie laughed, swatting at him with her dust cloth. He snapped at it and caught the tip of it in his mouth. With a quick yank, he pulled it out of her grasp.

Kyrie just grinned and let him take it.

"So what can I do for you today?" she asked Miyuki cheerfully. "It's been a while since I've seen any of you."

"It's been really busy," Miyuki explained as Suki went and hopped up onto said chair that Uruloki was perched on.

Between the performances and trying to help Eron and Shoneah adjust (and then to adjust to how one behaved around Andarien), there was just a lot going on.

"But I'm here for a bit of advice. Shoneah and Eron will need winter gear for when we travel, but that requires furs that no one stocks. What would be a good hunting ground and good animals to look for?"

Kyrie smiled and leaned against the wall. "Well, I'd imagine that for enough clothes for the both of them - gloves and footwear and cloaks and everything - you're going to need quite a few furs. The best place to go would be just south of the city, beyond the river you've been using for water and washing. About an hour's walk south of the river is one of the best places for game. Foxes especially, and foxes have the best furs for clothes. The warmest."

She turned her eyes towards the ceiling as she thought about it in her head. "So ... for two people, probably at least two suits of clothes each ... plus gloves ... boots ... cloaks ..."

She looked back at Miyuki. "Might as well make a big trip of it, otherwise it's going to take several trips. I wouldn't mind going, myself. Who else will be going, do you know?"
PostPosted: Sun May 25, 2014 5:32 pm

"I'm pretty sure Uncle Dareon and Wren will be going, and I know Shoneah wants to go."

She hadn't heard whether or not her father wanted to go if this was going to be a group hunting trip.

"That being said, Silverbirch would like to warn you that her people have a tradition of eating the hearts of the animals they kill. Apparently to show their respect to the animal and gain the spirit and strength of the creature they kill they say a small prayer and eat the heart."

She had to ask Eron for details since she didn't want to make Shoneah more uncomfortable, and then had to go talk to Andarien.

Kyrie blinked, but no emotion crossed her face, and after a brief moment she nodded.

"Thanks for the heads up," she murmured. "That would have been a bit awkward to see without warning."

"Hearts are tasty, though," Uruloki added, eying Suki.

"Well not all of us are dragons," Kyrie pointed out. She turned back to Miyuki. "Any word on when they'd like to go?"

Suki looked up and waved her ribbons at him while making soft noises to the tune of, play with me.

"I don't know when they're planning to go," Miyuki shrugged, "I just came by because I told Sliverbirch that I'd warn you."

It seemed like a lot of trouble just to warn someone, but Miyuki said she would.

"Mom also wanted to know how Malion was doing?"

She knew her parents had visited him a few times since they got back, but Miyuki herself had never met him.

"I'll come speak with them, then," Kyrie murmured softly. At the question of how Mailon was doing, she grew quiet for a moment.

Finally, she sighed and folded her arms across her chest.

"Ahkshi is checking on him now," she said quietly, the light gone from her eyes, "and he tells me that Mailon is making good progress in his recovery. I ... haven't been to see him since ..."

Since forcing him to recover his memories, which had been weeks ago.

"I know I should, but I've found I'm very good at finding excuses not to," she smiled faintly at Miyuki.
