This time he knew what he was doing - the tree line was basically bringing him out - he jumped over brush and stayed to the thickest parts. The creature was huge, and found it hard to attack him when he was evading in thick woods.
Seeing the way out of the forest, he jumped through and rolled through the grass, looking back at where the creature was.
He had done it.

She burst out of darkness and realized she was safe, the Jabberwock no longer seemed intent on her. Everything shook around her and she looked into the dark of the forest. She shook her head and turned away, no, no she had to keep going, she had to be further away from that thing.
She walked now though as her heart drummed in her chest and left her shaking.
It seemed that the rule by which she had tried to live was not so golden here, for no matter how congenial she could have acted towards the Jabberwock all it wished was to make her disappear.

Once again, the voices were behind him, calling out, screaming for him - not only his Elder's, but Amrita's. Sparrow's. Foehn's.
NOPE. Not real! The voices were that damn beast trying to get him to stop. He kept running, running as fast as he could - until he came to a fork in the road. To the left was a timer to save him from death. To the right was an HP potion that would bring him back up to 10. The little card in his pocket (that he hadn't even realized was there) was kindly telling him he had eight left. Saving from death sounded better than 10.
Aurel went LEFT, snatching the timer up as he went.

Jabber saw a fork ahead. Oh great. Just where forks should be, should they? They just had to appear when he was running for his life.
He went left and picked up the second chance timer. He was probably going to die instantly with his luck.

Chase Pt 1
He felt like he'd been wandering for...well, quite some time. He'd failed in his first quest after falling down the hole that had brought him here, and thus far...hadn't seen much else, barring the occasional sentient tree. It was in this frame of mind that he found himself blinking as he became aware of...smoke? And a series of loud cracking noises that seemed to be moving in his direction.
Then the stream of creatures began, each one with the same words on their lips: It's coming!
"What's coming?" He asked, looking around as the wood suddenly fell silent...eerily so, especially given the level of noise that had preceded it...was that a flash of movement, through the trees? It certainly seemed to be moving in his direction...
SNAP! His HP dropped, according to his pocket card's grating update of his status.
He didn't hesitate to see how much more damage...whatever this thing was would do, turning tail and running.

The running wasn't doing much. The Jabberwocky was becoming more and more agitated every time he missed TheBoughman. Unfortunately, on the third snap trying to get him - BAM. Full on. The little card beeped cheerfully - KO.
Thank the forest gods he had chosen the second chance. KEEP RUNNING OH GOD.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh...of course the jabberwock had it out for him. JabberWhut almost died instantly, but luckily, he had picked up that second chance timer so he didn't die exactly.
He continued running for his life and eventually he somehow managed to run out of the forest. The jabberwock had either lost interest in him or had found easier prey.
Jabber collapsed in a heap on the outside of the forest.
A small beeping noise.
Level 9. And some loot.
Bloody fantastic.

Chase Pt 2
He was sprinting through the woods, ducking tree branches and trying to make himself as difficult a target as possible.
...and then the voices started. Familiar voices--family members, even a certain ghoul he'd been interested in for quite some time...
He turned around, unable to resist them any longer, and barely had time to inhale in terror before the onrushing series of teeth snapped him up.

The Jabberwocky came close a few times to snapping at him - nipping at his ankle once, but the little card cheerfully called out only one point of damage. This was not fun anymore!
"LEAVE ME ALONE!" he cried out to the Jabberwocky as he ran, ducking his way out of the thick forest and into a much brighter one. TheBoughman tripped over one of the roots, rolling his way to safety in the form of a giant ball. Amazingly, he didn't lose his hat...and the Jabberwocky did not follow any further.
"THAT IS WHAT I THOUGHT!" he cried out from his ball, peeking out meekly. He sounded so much more badass than he was. Oh, yeah, two more levels, too. Awesome.

Chase Pt 1
Respawn.
Looking around, flashfire blinked. So that was how this worked, hmm? And then, that familiar snaking head, and the beeping of his battle card informing him of his low HP. Great, just great. Taking off at a sprint again, he couldn't help but hope that his luck was a little better, this time.
Another graze from those sharp teeth, and he was off through the trees.

You manage to outrun it, and the Jabberwock disappears for a second. There is still the sound of footsteps, thick and heavy, it isn't safe to stop yet, not yet.
Now things start to get strange. Voices start to talk from behind you. They don't sound like the Jabberwock at all, but more like familiar voices, voices from not this game. A friend consoling you. A family member, a beloved one, a mortal enemy. It calls to you in their voice and promises you something and you can't help but feel temptation.
- Roll 1d6 again. If you roll 1 or 6 the temptation is too much and you turn around, just in time to see rows and rows of teeth and an open mouth snap you up. Start at the BEGINNING of the quest again.
Chase Pt 2
This could get old really, really quickly, he couldn't help but think as he once again found himself sprinting as fast as possible through the woods. And then the voices began again...
Forcing himself to focus, he resisted the temptation to turn back to look, this time, barely missing a large log that lay in his path as he continued running...forever running.

Adventuremaster was definitely not prepared for a big bad boss, especially on his own! He was only a meaner level 4, after all! Afte the initial attack from the jabberwocky knocked out two thirds of his HP, he was more then ready to boot it.
