Tairu kept up his steady pace and slowly approached the opposite bank the opposite bank. Almost there he thought as he could see the increasingly shallower depth of the river. Tairu kept going untill he could touch the bottom with his feet and then he walked the last few feet to the opposite bank of the river. Phew Tairu panted as he sat down on the shore and rested. Now what did the scroll say about Part II of the swimming assignment? he asked himself mentally. Oh yeah, I need to tie a a 5lb weight to each of my ankles and swim back across. Tair looked around the river bank searching for something that he could use as weights for his ankles. Tairu found two rocks of about the same size; each of which weighed about five pounds. Tairu pulled some rope out from a pouch on his belt and made two holsters for each rock and then tied them to his ankles. Tairu balanced the rocks on top of his feet as he walked over to the river bank. Well, time to get going back across now. Tairu thought with a little apprehension. He had experienced some difficulties before but now he was adding more weight. When tairu was in the water he floated on his back and began to swim to the other side.

How much the rocks actually effected Tairu's swimming ability surprised him. Tairu almost immediately drowned as the rocks pulled Tairu down under water. Taking a big breath of air in the moments just before his head plunged under water helped him to stay a float. Tairu dramatically increased the amount of strength he was using to get himself back up to the surface. When he reached the surface Tairu Let out the breath he had taken before his plunge and panted for a moment. Treading water furiously Tairu sat there trying to get used to the rocks pull on his body. After becoming accustomed to the added weight of the rocks Tairu began swimming again. He was going quite slow as the rocks added onto his already heavy leg guards was really pulling hard on his legs. Having already swam across the river only a few minutes earlier Tairu was still tired from that as well. Luckily the melt waters had already been flushed out of the river system and the summer rains hadn't started yet so the river was at it's lowest for the summer time. This meant that he didn't have as far to go as he would at other times in the year. Tairu got the hang of swimming with the rocks and continued on with his swim. Due to the wait of the rocks Tairu used a swimming technique which he called the T.T.T. or T. Tickle, Touch. Tairu would float flat on his back, put his arms out to a T, bring them straight down to his side, pull them up so that it looked like he was tickling his arm pits and then back to a T. This wasn't the quickest way to get across the river but certainly took the least amount of effort. Using this method Tairu passed the one third mark and kept on swimming. As Tairu was calmly swimming across the river a large wave caused by a boulder that had fallen into the river up stream caught Tairu by surprise and washed right over him. Tairu took a big gulp of the water by accident and it also rolled rolled him over entangling his feet in the process. Tairu struggled to free his legs as he started to sink. With out his feet Tairu was unable to remain floating and after being unable to just wiggle his way out of the entanglement Tairu forced himself to remain calm and then brought his legs to his arms so that he could untangle himself with his hands. Tairu worked at unwrapping the rope that was coiled around his legs. Every time his lungs started to hurt from holding his breath he struggled with his arms to get back to the surface and take a breath. After uncoiling the left leg's weight rope the other rope had enough slack to allow Tairu to slip out of the rope and kick his way back to the surface. As he burst through the surface of the water Tairu took a big breath and filled his lungs with fresh air. After he rested for moment Tairu continued on towards the opposite bank of the river. The effort that was required in order to escape from his deadly situation just moments earlier had taken more out of Tairu then he had realized. Feeling exhausted, Tairu stopped swimming and just floated on his back looking up at the sky. The sun still wasn't very high in the sky so thankfully it wasn't too hot and the insects had yet to really proliferate the area. Just breathing in and out Tairu breathed deep and fill his lungs. This was a tough situation because there was the real possibility that Tairu could drown during this training; so he had to continually weigh his current situation for whether or not he said abandon the training. Tairu decided that currently he was still capable of completing the training. After making this decision Tairu continued to swim again. The weights definitely made Tairu's swim much more difficult as he had not gone very far in the last fifteen minutes. I have to make it back across the river, not only so that I can complete this training but so that I can move forward and start my years in the academy ahead of the class. With the fires of determination burning within him Tairu pressed on toward his objective. Tairu took his time so that he would not tire himself out. I have to keep in mind that this is not only strengthening my muscles but increasing my stamina as well. If I work to hard I will tire myself out and drown so remaining calm is a must. Tairu looked back at the river bank he had started from and watched as it slowly inched farther and farther away. He was now past the halfway point of the river and was inching closer and closer to the end of his training exorcise. After gaining a lot of distance towards his training's goal Tairu once again had to stop and rest. He laid on his back floating as he looked at the transition happening in the sky. The stars were slowly fading as clouds took their place in the sky. As well as the setting of the moon and the rising sun. This hour of the day is one of two times which the sky runs red. Had Tairu been a poet he might have seen the irony in that the changing of the day is a somber moment but the colors are vibrent and make the sky look as if a battle had just been fought between day and night. Tairu wasn't a poet however and the only thing he saw in the transition was just the simple beauty of it. After enjoying his lengthy rest Tairu put his focus back on the task at hand. His training was two thirds complete and it was time to head towards it's full completion. I'm almost there, I just need to focus and do what I have to do in order to finish this training exorcise. Tairu continued using his chosen method of swimming as it had been working out quite well for him over the course of the weighted swimming training. To-san might not be proud of me yet but I will make him see what one can accomplish without natural born talent by using sheer will and determination. Tairu kept on swimming until he heard the lapping waves hitting the shore and the slight bump as his head slid along shallow river bed. Tairu stood up and then stepped onto land. He almost immediately cut the the rocks from his legs and then looked out across the river in elation. Tairu was filled with the happiness of success as he looked at the feat that he had just accomplished. Tairu looked around for his academy scroll and quickly found it, he hadn't even deviated much from his starting position. Okay that's one more lesson down, what should I do next?. looking at his academy scroll Tairu decided it was time to try and learn his first jutsu. He decided to learn the Henge no Jutsu first. Following the instructions written in the scroll Tairu found a small pebble and set it on the ground in front of himself. Tairu looked at the lesson info and made the hand seals just as the scroll instructed. Inu, i, tora (dog, bear, tiger) he thought as he practiced the order of the hand seals. After practicing for a few minutes Tairu tried adding his chakra to the the hand seals in order to preform the jutsu. Henge no Jutsu: The Students will each obtain a small pebble. Roll 1d20. You must get a 13 or higher to successfully transform into the image of the object. Each student is expected to complete this 5 times. Attach the following to each training post: Cp: 9 Formula: 1d20 + [0]. Train: 0/5 If a student successfully performed the Jutsu, he loses -1 Cp. If a student failed an attempt, he would still lose -1 Cp. To regain Cp, they have to rest for one post and gains back +1 Cp. Rewards: +1 Chakra

The pebble let out a small wisp of smoke but didn't change in physical appearance at all. It's okay, the Hyuuga aren't known for their ninjutsu abilities, so I'll just have to work extra hard. Tairu practiced the order of the hand seals using the mantra, Inu, I, Tora. in his head as made each hand seal. Due to the fact his chakra was obviously too low the last time he tried the jutsu Tairu decided to try and increase his chakra output. Focusing hard, Tairu tried to feel the amount of chakra he was using so that if he successfully performed the jutsu he'd know how to do it again. Henge no Jutsu: The Students will each obtain a small pebble. Roll 1d20. You must get a 13 or higher to successfully transform into the image of the object. Each student is expected to complete this 5 times. Attach the following to each training post: Cp: 8 Formula: 1d20 + [0]. Train: 0/5 If a student successfully performed the Jutsu, he loses -1 Cp.
