Marceline was close to the finish line, and running behind from the looks of it... She hadn't seen teammate nor gargoyle on the track in quite some time. She bore down hard on her wheels, trying desperately to gain more speed, but the stings from those were-bees were distracting her. She scratched at the welts they left behind, trying not to focus on them. Marceline didn't know much about were-bees, and she pondered whether she was going to need some kind of antidote for their sting venom as she skidded around the last hairpin curve of the track before the finish line!Harry Herne Anyway, the whole platoon rushed towards the pile o'monsters. They just happened to be in Marceline's way. Oops.
This was it! Marceline was in the home stretch! There was a glimmering light at the end of the long corridor that stretched out ahead of her -- back to the Catacombs and the finish line! She quickened her pace again, hearing her wheels clack-clack as they hit the stone track beneath her, the only sound in the tunnel besides her heart thumping in her open ribcage...

The only sound, that is... besides the rumbling of hundreds of goblins emerging from the walls... Marceline tensed, running through the list of possible obstacles in her head and coming up with zero goblin-centric ones... this wasn't part of the race! The little greyish-green creatures tumbled out of the walls and scrambled to their feet on the track, and Marceline skidded and staggered to avoid falling over them... but soon the track was so congested by the mob that Marceline couldn't go any further. "Oh... jeepers... JEEPERS!" Marceline bounced on her skates, fanxiety building up, as she tried to think her way though this one... It would be no use trying to reason with a mob of goblins. She pulled from her waist pouch her spell packets, desperately trying to decide which would be even useful in this situation...as her eyes landed on the one tied with a light blue string. She put the rest away and skated forward, building momentum... "Alright goblins, gimme a doorway!" Marceline's voice echoed over the din of the mob as she hurled the pouch toward them. It exploded in a white cloud, and rushing winds hurled the goblins one way or the other against the corridor walls, leaving a small pathway clear for Marceline to skate through. Quickening her pace, she felt relieved that her path was clear for the finish line...

... except it wasn't. Just before the end of the corridor was a pile of monsters and even more goblins! "Jeepersjeepersjeepersjeepers...!!!" Marceline desperately tried to slow down but it was no use! She careened toward the heap at full speed... there was only one option. Crouching low on her skates and picking up speed again, Marceline flung herself off the track and into the air...

She was relieved Shad didn't think she was much of a bore, yet. Maybe there was hope but there was still the rest of the night to come, so she gulped down her fear as he guided her to their seats on the screechers. Honestly, Melody wasn't too much of a sports ghoul either, she had mostly spent days locked away in her dormitory or practicing in the Mad Science lab and when Kai invited her to events such as SKRM or a soc-grrr match to get out more, she would politely decline and continue to stay in her room.Shadeaux D Gloom "How are we doing out there?"
"Errr..."she sipped a bit of his soda before figuring out what to say next, "they're maintaining a nice steady pace?"Very smooth, any smoother and she'd be beached on the furthest shore by now.Suddenly every ghoul and boo was in awe as they watched Marceline fly into the air as if she were a seagull trying to ready a landing back on the ocean of the track and avoiding falling and disqualification! Everyone was practically on the edge of their seats awaiting for what would happen next.
 Success or failure.

Melody covered her mouth in suspense,
"Oh ghoul I can't look! Tell me how it ends!" She begged hiding her face on Shad's shoulder.

"Okay, okay... So this is my idea..." Astrid whispers to her crew, "I'm going to open a portal to get the gargoyles ahead of the game..."
Unaware that there were already portals...

Astrid points her horn near the finish line as a piercing beam of light exerts from the tip... Straight into one of Essi's portal... Although she had meant to open one of her own portals, her magic somehow collided with Essi's and cancelled out the spacial frequency, causing that portal, and in a chain reaction, all the other portals to conveniently close. "uhh..."

"Nice job," Toralei meowed, "You just fixed the problem we here trying to make!"

Astrids cold heart sinks in despair.

			            The referee blew his whistle.
"PENALTY ON MONSTER HIGH! TOO MANY PLAYERS ON THE TRACK!" He shouted, pointing at Tori, Necrolin, Atomica, Glen and finally Marceline. Even with Tori down, they were over the limit until Marceline crossed the finish line. Atomica gave Glen the nastiest, angriest, most filled-with-atomic-death stare she could.

"Arrrrggghh!" Clawd ripped up the pages on his clipboard. None of his plans were going to mean anything in this crazy race.

Granite City was awarded a penalty point. Now the score was even!

"HAH!" Rocco shouted back at Monster High as he skated ahead. With all of the portals vanishing, Granite City's trio split up and each of them took a different route on the moving tracks. With three different routes, at least one of them was sure to make it through.

Atomica steamed. She had to stay still - until Marceline crossed the finish line if she moved, Monster High would be penalized again. THIS. WAS. TORTURE.

"How did?..." Again, asking no one in particular. Gosh Essi, only crazy ghouls talk to themselves geez!!The pouch was still ripped though. The minute they went back in, they started fighting out of Essi's hands (she doesn't have claws..) just begging to swallow up some manster and cause some old fashioned mayhem. Essi removed some scissors from her body. Dimensional scissors, great for closing portals, special items and other stuff. She began quickly sewing the pouch closed using her light blue bangs. What? Dyed hair wasn't a fashion statement for her..
Pouch fixed! Portals staying closed! Now to carefully go back to her seat and get out of here.

Peggy poked the bag to quiet him and then quickly scanned the stands for the Boo she was looking for. Ah... target acquired. She waved and hurried over to join him.

"PEG-GY!" Rory's voice embarassingly cracked as he nearly shot a full foot out of his seat in surprise. He really shouldn't have been - didn't he come to SKRM specifically to find Peggy, after all?Peggy Springwell Rory, HI! So glad I found you. I wanted to firm up some of our dance plans. Of course, he hadn't counted on running into Marceline's family...
"Hey, I know you!" Kriminel, Marceline's brother gave Peggy a raised eyebrow. "You're Marcy's roommate, ain't ya?"He stood up and gave Peggy a bony hand to shake. "Kriminal LaGhede." He smoothly grimtroduced himself. "And dis' my maman an' papa."He sat down again, so that he was between Peggy and Rory this time. Rory's cheeks flushed a deep silver. "So what's this now about a dance? Hover boots?""She um...I mean...hexcuse us!" Rory stood up, nearly tripping over Kriminal and grabbed Peggy by the arm. "Er...concession stand run!"He made hexcuse as he retreated up the stairs. Kriminal cupped a hand over his mouth. "BRING BACK SOME JUJUBLEAKS!"Once they'd gotten far enough up the stairs to be out of earshot, Rory stopped and pulled Peggy into an empty pair of seats."I'm sorry, I didn't -I -I mean-" Rory stammered. He stopped and took a deep breath. He was going to choke on his own tongue at this rate. And that was dangerous! "I have to confess something, Peggy. And if you're mad I'll understand. But I have to be honest. It...it wasn't me who asked you to the dance. It was Glen...in my body...on my behalf. We uh....we switched bodies yesterday. Long story. But I...I'd still like to go with you, if you want to. I had fun at Woestock. With you, and, uh...Power Pegasus." Rory tried to give Peggy a knowing wink. But it ended up looking just like he had something caught in his eye.

The grin on her face was a bit too.. smiley.. a little scary.

"I can't wait until the dance. We're going to have so much fun"

She leaned in and gave Rory a quick kiss. Heimdal was half out of her bag, his mouth hanging open, PEGGY!!!!

"P-po-po-" And then Peggy surprised him with a sneak kiss. Rory's eyes nearly popped out of his skull and he was fairly sure his brain nearly had a meltdown. He hadn't been hexpecting THAT as a reaction to his confession!

"Hey. Maman sent me up to tell you she wants some popscorn, too." Rory suddenly heard from behind him, and turned to see Kriminel grinning widely at him crouched down on the stairs in the aisle. He'd clearly just seen EVERYthing. Rory hopped up.

"I-I-I can hexplain!" Rory started to say, but Krim merely raised an eyebrow at him.

"Oh, I bet you can." Kriminel's gold-toothed grin looked about ready to swallow Rory whole. "But it's really too loud in here f'r a proper big brotherly interrogation. Maybe a lil' later, eh?"

Kriminel stood up and tipped his had to Peggy.

"Jus' remember that Maman wants hextra butter on that popscorn y'hear?"

He walked back down the aisle to where the LaGhedes were sitting. Rory collapsed down and let out a huge breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding in. He looked at Peggy.

"I don't think Marcy told her family we broke up." He stated the obvious.

"WELL DUH." Rory heard from Peggy's backpack. Even Heimdal could see what a cliche this stitchuation was!

The only way out is up! Marceline thought to herself as she skated toward the finish line. A le-e-e-e-e--eap of fright! Only thing to do is jump! Only thing to do is jump over the mob! She closed her eyes, crouched at the knees, and hurled herself into the air!
For a moment it felt like everything stopped... the din of the clamoring crowd, the grumbling of goblins... it all went quiet and she felt suspended in midair. She could feel every monster's eyes on her as she soared over Tori, Harry, and The New Dead. But her eyes locked on a flash of red in the crowd... Rory was here... and he was sitting with her family. And that's when it dawned on her: She'd never told her family that they had actually broken up! This was a disaster, and there was nothing she could do from the track...

And with her mind somewhere else, there was nothing Marceline could do to avoid Harry's outstretched claw, either. Her skate crashed into Harry's palm, throwing off her balance and sending her feet flying above her head. Suddenly, the rest of the world caught up to Marceline as the track came quickly rushing to her face... she crashed down hard and tumbled barely over the finish line. The crowd let out a groan... it was graceless, but she still finished.

Still, as she got back onto her skates and rolled to the bench, she couldn't help but feel like she'd let her team down. Another glance up at the stands, Marceline watched Rory walk away with Peggy as her family gleefully waved at her; she waggled her fingers back with an awkward smile... She was not looking forward to this match ending tonight.

Back at home with his family, Kai couldn't help but laugh as the texts came in from Demona fast and furrious. Pictures showed that it was chaos on the track. They were from such a close angle that Kai was pretty sure Demona wasn't even sitting in the stands anymore.Demona MH Kai Merha To: Kai <3 Bae U have got 2 see this
He showed them to his step-sister Octavia, whose eyes nearly bugged out of her head. They didn't have Skulltimate Roller Maze in the Bermuda Die-angle."Wait, in that picture - is that Marceline?" Octavia grabbed Kai's phone and tried to zoom in on a shot that Demona had sent. Demona had caught her mid-landing across the finish line. Although the landing had been awkward in real life, the picture ended up making her crossing look totally epic. "Did she win the game?!"
"Dunno. Demona isn't the best at giving details." Kai answered, inspecting the image too. "But it looks like she crossed the finish line! She's kinda becoming your hero isn't she?"Octavia sighed."She's in a famous super-band, she's a sports star AND look at all the stuff in the Ghostly Gossip about her!" Octavia flipped to another screen on her phone. Kai groaned. "Don't put that on my phone, you know I don't read gossip blogs!""Well, I do! And Marceline's all over 'em!" Octi replied stubbornly. "She's basically the Grim Gharghastian of Monster High!" "I'm going to tell her you said that." Kai responded as he took his phone back and waited for Demona's next text.

"I'm totally the Grim Ghargastian..." she pouted to herself"Eh, You're more like a Kyl-EEK..." Cass said not taking her eyes off the game. "Wait what?" Demona looked taken back at the doll being so casual "Well like... isn't Kyl-EEK the trendier, one? She's a model right? and, You're a model. You kinda look like her, she's a selfie queen like you, and you're really good at makeup. So Kyl-EEK." She shrugged Demona replied to Kai "Still Doesnt Make us friends" Quote: to Kai <3 I'm Kyl-EEK. Model. Selfie queen. InstaGrim popular, style on Point, Strong Makeup Game. heart

"OMIGHOUL. Finally!" Atomica took off like a shot when Marceline....'crossed' the finish line and she was freed to go. She scanned what was going on ahead of her. Granite City was definitely in the lead, and all three of them had split up and gone into the separate, moving routes.
Necrolin was the furthest along for Monster High. Granite City's strategy was sound...with all three of them taking separate paths, ONE of them was going to end up on the right one. However, it meant sacrificing two skaters to whatever fate was waiting for them on the other paths...and Monster High didn't have enough skaters to do that!

"Deploying thermal scanner!" Atomica called out to her teammates. It would slow them down, but seeing if there was anything alive lurking on any of the paths would maybe prevent them from making a scare-ible mistake.

Atomica's eyes turned bright LED red as she swept her thermal scanner across the paths. It was difficult because they were shifting and moving as skaters moved through them, but Atomica was the most fangtastical machine to ever have been built in the 80's. She was definitely able to keep up with the challenge!

"There! The second path! There's totally, like, a great big, living....SOMETHING at the end! Nekki! AVOID THE MIDDLE PATH!" Atomica called out to her teammate in the lead. The giant red blotch that her scanners picked up seemed to reach out some tentacles and grab the hapless Granite City skater that was barreling towards it.

"Yikes." Atomica winced. That left Nekki at least with a 50/50 chance of choosing the right path...

"GUH!!" Tori pushes off the New Dead, finally, after being reprimanded by the Ref!
"C'mon ref!" Tori groans loudly, then turns to Harry. "Can you get off the Track!!"
