She asked his name. And for some reason that seemed to brighten his smile, like it was the first time anyone had been so courteous to him. In truth it wasnt the first...perhaps the 4th. There was a pause as he turned to her. A glimmer in his dark eyes, a bright jagged smile across his face. It was almost a sinister grin.

Tayra...?

He said, letting the word roll around his tongue before slithering out from between his lips like a snake escaping its den. Then, without warning, he rolled over onto his stomach, shoved off his arms, landed on his feet and placed both hands on his hips, looking rather heroic.

I'm D!

His teeth unsheathed themselves and he made a big over exaggerated nod.

D'destwoyewr!

He said that with some level of prestige, like it was his special extra awesome title, only for him, that he loved forever and ever. As opposed to the name that struck fear in the hearts of millions. And it was!

And you...

He slowly bright his right hand forward keeping his left at his side and pointed it at Teira.

Your it!

He immediately reached forward tapping Teira on the shoulder, and then turned and ran off, quickly shouting back.

Y'gotta find me!

Before breaking out into laughter, and diving into the bushes!

High in the sky above the island, a girl of 14 was floating in the sky with a pink parasol, almost like mary poppins. She went down gently, she smiled at the land below.

Seemingly innocent, she landed on the edge of the island, where she was face to face with a pack of wolves, which immediatly attacked the girl. She smiled, and suddenly ice and thunder rained down apon the pack, killing them instantly.

She started walking around the island, her parasol closed and leaning on her shoulder. She was bored, and she wanted to have some fun. She sighed, and looked at the sky. Her name was unknown, but people refered to her as Kai.

"Deeeeeee"

She said playing with his name, testing it on her tongue as he posed.

Giggling, she grinned at his hero stance, rolling around on the ground for a moment, before laying completely still. The soft tickle of grass against her palm and her cheek as she lay there, utterly fascinated with this sweet smelling, carpet of green velvet that stretched further than she could see.

A small shadow spilled over her face as she squinted to see D standing over her. He leaned down and tagged her shoulder.

"Your it! Y'gotta find me!"

He said and then dove into the bushes, leaving her blinking after him for a moment. But the thrill of the chase rose within her and she rolled over, springing into a crouch. Pushing off like a racer from their starting blocks, she hurtled after him, her keen senses helping to keep her hot on his trail.

"Deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!~"

Calling after him playfully, an undertone of 'I'm going to get you!' ringing cheerfully in his name.

Shadow Island Description

Shadow Island floats idly in the sky six thousand feet over Gaia, the land mass simply drifts on air currents and whims to and from with no clear destination and no need to park or rest. The island was constructed as a vehicle and home for Maximos. Lunoc seals allow the land mass to defy gravity. And occasionally its groundskeeper Walter can be seen tending to the garden above.

Location:
Floats randomly about Gaia about 6000ft above the ground, wherever the wind and weather takes it, is where Shadow Island will be.

Climate:
Shadow Island almost always sits at a safe and comfortable temperature of 60-80 degree's all year round. There is a constant beautiful breeze, even if a torrential storm is raging in the sea around it. Something on Shadow Island makes sure the weather is constant...always.

Fauna:
A few of the trees attract various tropical birds, and several species of fishes swim about the ocean. With the exception of that, its odd and artificial location limits the amount of plants able to reach the area.

Now Walter found himself rather wholly confused. He knew he was over a mile above the ground, and yet here someone was riding a parasol onto the isle. This is not an everyday occurrence of course as most individuals require air and at this height without supernatural means, oxygen was very hard to come by.

Granted Shadow Island had a fresh supply, but outside of it well...that was another story.

Nevertheless being a good Butler as he was the old man made his way to the visitor. He wore a pressed black vest over a while dress shirt and a matching pair of dress pants, and shoes, as well as a clean pair of white gloves. As he had left his apron and work gloves by the roses he was tending before the visitor arrived.

What caught him as odd, was that the moment she landed she attacked...something? Ice rained down from the sky, as thunder was entirely impossible being as the enchantments that held Shadow Island 6000ft in the air, also kept the weather eternally the same. And what she attacked appeared to be imaginary. It had to be, as it was entirely impossible for any sort of natural wolf to find its way 6000ft into the sky, or while Shadow Island was previously located in the ocean, it was impossible for a Wolf to swim over 20 miles in order to land on the island.

Thus the fact that the only Fauna on the island were birds, or anything else that could manage a long tedious flight. Master Maximos was after all, not a very big fan of dogs. And this woman...whoever she may be, had accidentally floated onto someones front lawn.

Walter approached and very kindly approached the girl of appearent fourteen years and spoke. His voice was very soft, just a few octaves below a normal speaking tone.

Can I help you young lady? You seem lost.

Eeep!

D audibly squealed from within the bushes, before in a blur of black leaping from the shrubbery and jetting off toward the Sparring Ground, Teira ever on his tail.

A competitor! The first competitor he'd had in...ever! She was right on him! Now granted, the Sparring Ground was a mostly vacant area, but it had those rocks. Boulders really, that had been transported to this grassless area to serve as terrain. Maybe...just maybe D thought to himself in his super hyper candy induced state, he could use these rocks for cover! Cover against the dredded It!

And It, was coming fast! He leaped! With smack and an oomph, both his hands and his upper half landed on the top of a 7ft boulder monstrosity. His legs however were left hanging kicking rather wildly as they attempted to find some sort or kind of footing, while his hands flailed trying to pull his body up. Teira was fast, no doubt about that D only just barely managed to get on top of the rock. Just barely out of the way of any oncoming hands. At which point the boy triumphantly stood at its highest point with his hands on his hips, and tried his best to look heroic.

Of course to D, climbing the rock was a feat to be proud of. To someone in the body of a full grown woman however...of course concepts like "range", and "hieght" were entirely too bothersome for this small boy.

Skidding to a halt for a moment, D having disappeared from sight, she closed her eyes and listened carefully, her ears twitching slightly as she scanned for sounds of the boy.

THERE!

Those bushes, laboured breathing... the pants of someone who'd just been running flat out.

She readied to pounce, but just as she was about to strike, a blur of black exploded from the shrubs and breezed by her.

Whirling, she gave chase, laughing her contentment as she gained on the child, her long legs carrying her lithe body as if it were one with the wind.

She had him, cornered against a large boulder. He wouldn't escape her this time! Strange golden eyes smiled at him as she went for a tackle--- However, she was left hugging rock as D scrambled up and her grasping hand -just- missed catching his pant leg. But that didn't slow her, she had the advantage of a mature form and with one hand on the rock, her knee's bent, up she jumped, pouncing D from atop the rock and sending them both tumbling to the ground~

"Deeeeeeeeeeeeeee!~"

Oh no! Oh no!

D wasnt going to fall for that, that easily!

She was jumping up to get him, that meant all he had to do was step back and....

Well perhaps he was falling for that. As D seemed to have forgotten he was on a boulder, not the ground. Which meant his footing wasnt flat, and he had yet to master the non-existent concept of just walking on air. He was infact falling, and as Teira was pouncing as any skillful girl should, D was totally falling for that, and exactly that easily!

He fell to the dry ground behind him with an audible "oomph", and visible cloud of sand and dust cast upwards, and gently drifting downwards. As per inertia's command D would be tumbling and rumbling right out of the sparring grounds laughing rather vibrantly until the rolling paused. Being entirely before the age where girls were anything more than just other people, he was entirely content to remain the perfectly captured prey of the lovely kitty Teira.

Though, whenever she did choose to free him, he would immediately hop to his feet, point and say very energetically.

I'm It now! Now you gotta run!

"OOMPH!"

The grown elf, turned over sized playful kitten, would quickly squirm off of D, as unlike the boulder he was squishy and instinct told her to get off of that soft flesh.

As he jumped to his feet and declared himself 'it' She sat blinking at him in confusion, her head tipped quizzically to the side as she puzzled out what he was saying. But quickly she put two and two together and off she shot like a shot from a canon!

"MIYYAAAA!~"

She went for the trees at a dead run, her swift elven legs carrying her along quickly. Sneaking quietly along, she picked a tree, made sure D couldn't see her, and scrambled up into it's branches and watched for the hunter to come tracking her!

D was off, like the dastardly little scamp he was. He started things off primal, running on two feet was good for long distances but for those starts where you really need to dig in and cover ground, nothing works as well as running on all fours.

It was amazing the lessons that play taught, here Tiera learned to run, in a combat situation she would be able to jet across distances away or even toward enemies as swift as the wind, and as a plus she'd never be late ever again!

D however, had that almost sinister look in his innocent eyes. He was afterall the Destroyer and as such his destructive programming had to take effect at some point. In no time he would be irresistibly drawn to large cities where he will back up sewers, reverse street signs, and steal everyone's left shoe. But for right now, for this exact moment, he was playing tag.

His little feet amazingly let him keep up with Teira, a blur of black chasing after the wind. But she was clever, and tricksy to boot! She vanished up a tree! Whats more she had darted to the side and then back, completely throwing off the little devil, he spun around finding three trees directly beside each other and...no Teira. He stepped forward into the shade of the tree very carefully, his dark eyes darting back and forth with half a grin plastered across his features. She was here....somewhere...but where...

He leaned his head back taking a few whiffs out of the air. A trick he had seen a puppy do once in Latent. That just happened to be exactly what he needed. Teira....Teira had candy...an amazingly delicious stwawbewwy treat, and salmon inexplicably drawn up the stream, D was inexplicably drawn to candy. Though he had enough sense to know not to eat it once it had been in someones mouth, that sweet sweet aura wafting from between her full lips and toward his cute button nose was exactly what he needed.

He darted toward the tree, both of his hands immediately smacking each side as he tried to shimmy up it. His eyes almost sparkling in the shade of the tree. His face covered with a bright smile, and the smack of his teeth viciously devouring a piece of cherry echoing upwards, as he made his way toward his prey, aiming for the ultimate in prizes of course...a tag!

When the predator started to climb up, there was only one place left for the prey to go... Up she went, shimmying upwards away from the lower, stronger branches and away into the upper limbs of the strange tree she had chosen to scale.

One day she would be able to jump from tree to tree, but for now baby steps! These smaller, flimsier branches were providing enough of a challenge as it were.

Quickly she figured out that the closer you stood to the trunk, the less the branch wobbled and it had the added bonus of something to brace against as she climbed. Climbing became a game all in itself, as she went up and up until she was in some of the uppermost branches, clinging to the trunk as not to fall.

The view! The view over the treetops and about this area of the island was breathtaking, she nearly forgot about lil'D chasing behind her--

D couldnt forget, it was hardwired into his nature. How could he neglect the hunt! His hands dug into the loose chunks of bark, and the rough turf of his boots gripped the many extending branches helping him scamper up the tree, like a monkey shimmying up a palm tree.

Although, this wasnt a palm tree, this was an entirely other type of tree. One with small leaves and thick branches, one with a secret weapon that is guaranteed to halt D or any other rambunctious little kids in the middle of a game such as this.

This tree had fruit. More specifically its very dark bark and rich green leaves were home to Night Pear. A delicacy in the Shadow Realm. They're used to make Night Pear juice, Night Pear pear, and more importantly Night Pear pie. The fruit itself looked less like an pear, and more like a jet black apple with an elongated top, and a green streak around the middle. And its taste well...its taste really had no comparison. It had been likened to a fusion of apple and pear, or a mixture of pineapple and apple, its very hard to describe a flavor that simply does not exist on this particular plane of existence or any other than its home.

D himself would have entirely missed the fruit, if he hadnt looked up to see Teira taking a perch on top of the tree, saw a pear shaken loose by her climb, falling straight for his face his mouth opened wide, and with a gentle crunch the pear found itself impaled on his sharp fangs. He could see straight up, and straight up was Teira. And she was staring forward so very amazed. Too amazed, now he was curious. He immediately snatched free a fresh looking Night Pear and scurried up to the top of the tree beside her. His right hand offering her the Night Pear saying.

Here. S'good.

And his head cocking to the side as he followed her eyes out across the garden, and his right hand came up to peel the fruit back and tear free a bite for him to chomp away at.

Whatcha lookin' at?

Her long pointed ears twitched slightly as she caught the sounds of D beneath her and she blinked down at him just in time to see the fruit fall into his mouth, juices dribbling down his chin. It was so funny looking that she couldn't help but giggle.

As he shimmied up the tree beside her and offered her the night pear she blinked at it curiously, tilting her head to the side. Then she remembered the candy D had given her, perhaps this was tasty like that too! Her tail snaked it's way around her body and and the blade-like tip embedded itself in the juicy fruit with a loud CRUNCH!

The tail brought the black fruit to her mouth and leaning her head forward slightly she took a bite, letting out a delighted noise as she munched on the flesh of the pear and delicious juices filled her mouth.

Due to her loss of memory, she had nothing to compare the taste to, but it WAS good!

She swallowed and took another nibble, returning her gaze out to the garden.

Whatcha lookin' at?

"Garden... pretty."
PostPosted: Sun Jun 10, 2007 12:48 pm

Was that a tail?! Teira had a tail! That was so unfair, he wanted a tail! Why couldnt he have a tail? None the less he watched with a sort of stunned amazement as it pierce the fruit, almost surgically dodging his head. And his eyes followed it back.

Whooooaa...

He said, with a bright smile, and an open mouth. He would have likely kept staring, if Teira didnt mention the garden and immediately call his attention out at the beautiful.

Gawden?

It had been there for as long as he was but D never took the time to climb up a tree and actually look at it, as a whole. The colors, the trees, the leaves it was all very very nice. He actually paused for a moment, a rare thing, his left hand coming across his face to wipe away a line of purple dribble from his chin, and spread it along his black sleeve. Because for a child this age, sleeves are nothing more than napkins worn on your arms.

Yeah...

He said, with a smile.

...its wewy pwetty...

This view entirely reminded him of something else. Something he liked to do in his spare time, something so high up in the sky. And it brought a wry smile to his face.

Hey Tayra...can you fwy?

Taking another bite of her pear, her tongue flicked out to catch the purplish juice dribbling down her chin. She grinned when she saw D look out over the garden with much of the same 'awe' she felt.

Then he asked her something strange, something she didn't understand...

"Fwyyy?"

She said, cocking her head to the side as she blinked at him.

"What is fwy?'
PostPosted: Sun Jun 10, 2007 1:30 pm

Now that, that was tricky. How do you explain flying to someone when you barely understand it, itself.

Ummm...

He said, lifting his hand and tapping it to his chin. His dark eyes scanned the sky as he tried to put together exactly how to say this.

You..

He lifted up his hand in the air, flattening it out like a plane, or a board.

....you do dis.

And he zoomed his hand around the air making wooshing, and fooshing, sounds to mimic air by them. And then suddenly diped his hands down and wooshed it back up,and around.

...and den you land.

And his hand kind of suddenly when straight down going "Booom!". Yep...that was a suitable description to him, so he nodded rather stoutly and directly and looked back up to Tayra.

'Dats fwying.

Whoops, it seemed she accidentaly cast Snow Nightmare on herself. 'I have to master that spell soon...' She thought as she watched the dead dream wolves desolve into nothing but air. The lighting and hail had ruined a bit of the landscape, and she winced. She noticed the man and apologized.

"Sorry sir, I happened to cast a spell by accident, thus creating the wolves. Sorry about the garden." Kai said in her light honey voice, bowing to Walter.
