The stairs came up to her knee. Each single step came up to her knee and it was not a good thing. That meant she would need to grab hold of each step and pull herself up, a process that would take forever, but....
. . . but she had forever, right? The Voice was the only thing she knew to be up at the top, waiting, and so a hand was placed on the step.
With a huff Temes pulled herself onto one step, then another, and then another, and soon she had managed to climb quite a few in this manner. Her body was far more in shape that she gave it credit for in spite of all its curves. Quote: name temes health 50 location first floor steps 21 appearance super tiny chupacabra!

She hummed to herself, hoping to keep her nerves under control, but it provided little comfort since she couldn't necessarily hear it.
At least the motion made her throat tingle, which proved she was alive, still real... for now.
And then she heard the voice again:
"All I ever wanted was to find the True King, and get, the others still stand in my way. I have given them no harm, no trouble, I have waited this long, and my prize is to be betrayed by everything I embrace, again."
Part of her pitied it.
"I'm... sorry..."
A tear slipped down her cheek as she reached the top of the stairs, and stepped through the door.

It was....actually possible to jump several flights all at once, this she found through trial and error, and soon Temes cleared another large set of stairs on her high climb ever higher.

The timing on one of her jumps was off and Temes felt herself falter. She skidded to a stop just short of the halfway point, her feet landing on one of the stair edges, and she could have sworn the Voice suddenly called to her.
It...sounded so angry, like it was accusing her of something! Temes had never once raised her hand to another person out of anger, not that she could recall, and so she inwardly cowered as her hands pressed themselves to her chest.

Perhaps it was her effort to get away from the harsh call of the Voice that had her launch herself up nearly three flights of stairs, her small legs carrying her faster than she could have ever imagined.
She was getting closer to the exit, she could see it, but the cold words of the Voice still lingered in the back of her mind. When did she raise her hand against anyone?

She had reached the end with another strong jump, landing just in front of the path that would take her onward, when the Voice came into her head again.
It only wanted to find the True King, it said, and to have everyone try to stop it was saddening. It sounded like it was in pain rather than the anger from before and Temes paused before attempting to go forward.
She would need to think on what the voice said, think about what it wanted her to know. All that Temes knew was the Gatekeeper - was that her King?
Such confusion. . .

As he climbed and climbed, The Voice bored its way into his head - infiltrating his mindspace to convey a message.
"You dare take the powers of the others, when I created you, gave you purposed, and promised you a Kingdom. You dare raise your punitive claws against me? Even reforged you will never be on the same level that I am."
I dare? No, you are the one in the wrong here. I may not be on your level, but we are all done with your nonsense. Combined, we are far higher than you could wish to be.
