Having lost herself in romantic speculation of spring, Amaya had failed yet another one of her attempts. Not because of the pain in her wrist that was slowly but surely subsiding; it was because she had failed one of the most difficult part of the exercise. Instead of pushing herself up as quickly as she could, she moved slowly and fluidly, matching the speed of her drop. While being fluid was actually a very good thing, the girl knew that she needed to be highly picky and to pay close attention to details while she was working on her own. Amaya had no one to advise her, to watch her form, to make corrections or suggestions where they were needed. No, instead she had to learn my feel and by the occasional glance towards her elbows to make sure that she had gone down far enough. However, this was also teaching the child valuable skills. If she could learn to teach herself effectively then she wouldn’t have to seek others for instruction. She wouldn’t have to rely on the hours of the Academy and she could excel privately. If the girl felt like it she could train out in the back alley behind the forge or she could do minor exercises in the privacy of her own room. If she couldn’t sleep she would have something set out to fill up her time. Then again, the young girl was certain that she would also lose a considerable amount of sleep thanks to her training and her enthusiasm.
Amaya wanted to be the student that became great in the background. Because she was introverted, the spotlight didn’t really appeal to the child. Amaya was more than happy to play a supporting role, to assist instead of lead. Now, if the challenge arose and she was called upon she wouldn’t hesitate to step forward and get the job done, but as soon as she could the child would fade back and let others stand out. However, that didn’t mean that the young girl was going to let people best her. Oh, no. The Keiji was still going to work to be the best that she could possibly be and she wasn’t going to be left behind by the crowd. No, Amaya would give everyone a run for their money in whatever field she decided to specialize in. Speaking of, she really hadn’t thought too much on that matter.
The child lowered herself slowly as her head cocked to the side in thought. What should she specialize in? She wasn’t a member of a clan so the world was open to her choosing. Maybe she should just wait and see what she is best at. That might be the best way to approach the situation. With that fairly inconclusive solution, the child exhaled and accelerated upwards. It was hard to believe that she had made so much progress on her task. As a matter of fact, if her count was right, she only had to make one more to reach the goal that she had set forward for herself.

18 - 1 = 17 Success [Assignment Complete]
With the happiness stirred by the spring air and the enthusiasm that she built on her own, it was no surprise when the young child finished her last push up. The accelerated finish was just a bit faster than all the others, wanting to make sure that she finished as strong as possible. Amaya dropped her knees and sat back on her heels, dusting off her palms before setting them on the knees of her pants. The breeze gently lifted and played with the little fly away pieces of hair that encompassed the child’s head while the sun sharply broke through a hole in the branches and lit up a streak of gold across her neck. It was such a wonderful day that the child could sit there for hours and just watch. The young girl looked around the training arena to try and figure out where people were in their training. Takami was still running laps. It was nice to see that he hosted so much enthusiasm. Yae and Fuduo were working together on the cloaking assignment and it appeared as though Shiro and Sakura were doing the same thing. It was odd, the young girl could have sworn that their class was bigger than this. Was it only the six of them? If nothing else that would make it easy to sort people into groups at the end of graduation if everyone passed. Then again, the child also didn’t see any reason as to why people wouldn’t pass.
Now there was the matter that the child had put off in order to focus on her exercise; her next task. While it was a nice day, the girl wasn’t there to waste it away with frivolity – that wasn’t why she joined the Academy so young. No, she needed something to do and to keep her busy. Something that would capture her attention. Amaya still wasn’t interested in running. Part of it may have been that she didn’t want people to see her running. With how short she was and how stubby her legs were, there wasn’t much speed behind her. The child was quick for her height, but she didn’t feel fast. Then again, everyone here was several inches if not more than a foot taller than she was. Oh, the joys of being short were far and few between, but she would find one eventually. Before standing, the girl took in another deep breath to soak in the spring even further than she already had. The child simply loved nature and all it had to provide. Raising her hands to the sky and pressing up onto her toes, Amaya stretched, enjoying the free range of her arms. However, she would have to do more pushups later. It was a good exercise and it made her feel awake. Maybe that was what she should do in the mornings. The girl wrestled with a couple of ideas in her head. She was running out of options, she didn’t want to disappear in case an instructor showed up, and the extra credit assignment was limited.

Taking his hands off the cloak he performed the seal again, focusing his chakra. It really was like the chakra molding exercises and other jutsu they had already done. As with the other training his focused his chakra to a specific part of his body, in this case his hands, and then put it somewhere else, the cloak. Nara, Shikakuya ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Having both completed his first assignment and allowed a little time for his mind and body to recover, Shikakuya was ready for his next challenge. He left the empty classroom behind and went off in search of his teacher and fellow students. This being his first day he wasn't really that familiar with the layout of the academy and he got turned out a bit. He eventually figured out which storage room everyone was in due to all of ruckus and chakra usage that was going on in there. He saw a bunch of students at work but no teacher but that didn't really surprise them as their sensei wasn't one to hover over his student's as they worked.
Almost everyone seemed to be working on exercise except for one, a little kid kid with glasses who sat under a tree to work on his hand seals. Skikakuya felt a sense of déjà vu as he vaguely remembered having meet the guy before but he couldn't quite remember where. Intrigued by such a connection, he made his way over to him and took a moment to check his efforts, hoping to help him avoid the same pitfalls that Shikakuya had fallen into. He didn't say much though, because he knew interruptions could do as more harm than good.

Though the breeze was nice and the Amaya loved to be outside, she had nothing to do. While she was enjoying herself it also meant that she was making no progress. The young girl stood under the shade of one of the trees in the arena with her hands on her hips, smiling softly into the breeze, as she weighed her options. By the looks of it, her classmates were still working on their assigned tasks and she was left with nothing to do. It was then that the girl decided to venture inside. Perhaps their new teacher had arrived at the classroom, not knowing that the group was outside. Even if they hadn’t it was unlikely that they would slip by without her noticing. Plus, even if her instructor wasn’t in there she would be able to start on some first aid research. At least that would fill her time with something or another. Having made up her mind, the young girl reentered the Academy halls and turned towards her classroom.
With a gentle tug the Keiji slid the door to the classroom open. She looked over to the teacher’s desk but it was left unoccupied. As she turned to leave, the child noticed a body at the back of the room. Amaya smiled as she saw Akeru practically asleep up at the rear of the rows. Well, at the very least she could kill some time with some conversation if nothing else. The child’s walk was quiet even though she wasn’t trying to be as she walked over to the man. Her hand rested on the far corner of the desk as she approached. ”Akeru-san,” the child started in her default quiet voice as her unwavering smile still held softly to her face. What are you still doing here? I thought you would be off preparing for your team assignment.” The girl hoped that she didn’t come off as rude, and there wasn’t that sort of inflection to her voice, because she was simply curious; though also glad to see a friend there.

"Did it really?" Yae teased. Fudou seemed to be having a bit more trouble getting the cloak to blend properly. "Maybe you should try the cloak that looks like the side of the academy first. It's a lot easier than the tree pattern."
She moved out of the shaded nook and into a sunlight portion of the academy wall. Once again Yae backed up against the plaster and tried to hide behind her cloak. The increased lighting would make any inconsistencies more noticeable, so she figured more chakra would be needed to blend in effectively. She concentrated, letting her energy flow through the fabric around her. With some effort she managed to bend the light around the cloak just right, and blend in with the lit portion of the academy wall.
"The shade actually makes it a lot easier too."[+1 to Fudou's next roll] ----------------- Kakuremino no Jutsu (Cloak of Invisibility Technique) Description: This Jutsu is where one uses a cloak or a piece of cloth to make oneself blend in with the background, interpreting oneself invisible. While a student should use a cloak/cloth that fits with their environment, chakra can be used to enhance the effect but it can not make up for using the wrong camouflage. In this exorcise the students will demonstrate their ability to blend in to various surroundings using their cloaks/cloths. DC: 15 Formula: 1d20 + Stealth (5) + Fudou's help (1) Train: 4/10(( Me too. Having moved onto a pattern that matched the wall Pakku stood up and walked over to a spot. Grabbing a shuriken froma nerby table he roughly pinned the cloak to the wall. Then perofrming the handseal he pressed his hand to the clock, and watched as it disappeared from view, almost. Inechi Shironaegi Hp: 40 / 40 Cp: 44 / 48 MHp: 44 / 44 "Eh, you're right, it does work to an extent. But I can't help but feel that it's a little unnatural to be so stiff. What does it look to you from the outside? Do you think it was better?" Sakurayuki asked of him. He studied her disguise momentarily, analyzing it, as he looked over every inch of the cloth. Then he came to his decision. "It's a good start Yuki-chan, but the cloak is flat right now and it doesn't match the roundness of a tree." he informed her. After giving his input to Sakurayuki Shiro went back to his own training. Remaining in the same place he decided that now was the time to both stiffen the cloth and give it a rock like pattern. It was going to be more difficult than before because he was going to need his chakra to do two things at the same time. With that in mind he pushed forward and put his skills work as as stiffened the cloth and then began to pull colors into different spots to break up the solid chunks of differently shaded gray. To that effect he was able to make the cloth both stiff, and patterned. After that he would need to also bend the cloth to make it more curved and also somewhat jagged like the other boulders.[+1 to Yuki] Kakuremino no Jutsu (Cloak of Invisibility Technique) Description: This Jutsu is where one uses a cloak or a piece of cloth to make oneself blend in with the background, interpreting oneself invisible. Taking in Shiro's words, she took down her cloak and looked at him as he used the cloak to perfectly imitate a rock. At first it just looked like a child's play, and it was pretty obvious that it was just a cloak. However with the use of his chakra, it slowly wrinkled and stiffened, while the color of the cloth slowly shifted and changed to match the ones around him. Pretty soon there was nothing but a plain looking rock in front of her. Chakra really did wonders when a person successfully utilized them, it seemed. It was kind of like magic, how everything worked in order to slowly achieve the result that they wanted. Looking at his example, she went to work with her own cloth, using the chakra to make the texture a little more like real life, and created a jagged curve, similar to the tree trunk behind her. Now blurring and changing the edges, she made herself fade away, shifting the chakra around to make wrinkles in the appropriate spots. It was harder than she had anticipated, and at first, she faltered as the chakra refused to cooperate. On the second try though, she made it work, and there was nothing but trees and grass to the naked eye. She even worked on making the shade just perfect, hiding where the tree's shadow was, so that it wouldn't be too obvious that it was a cloak.
Taking down the colored cloth, she changed the textures with one hand and felt the shifts in the cloth with another, trying to see what would be the best outcome. It seemed to her that it made the best results when she wrinkled it along the lines on the texture. Showing this to Shiro, she noted that while this worked for the tree print, it wouldn't do so well for the others, which she also mentioned.
"Oh, and Shiro-kun, try making smoother lines next time. Too many straight lines could tip off the tracker that it wasn't a real rock." she advised.Quote: Kakuremino no Jutsu (Cloak of Invisibility Technique) Description: This Jutsu is where one uses a cloak or a piece of cloth to make oneself blend in with the background, interpreting oneself invisible. Just because water conforms does not mean it is any lesser an element. Cp: 1285/1320
His hands were small again, insignificant in their ability to hold on to anything precious.
When he more carefully looked, his body was also small again, unable to protect anything with that feeble strength.
He was a child again, a small speck swept up by a tidal wave he is failing to swim against.
But the person under the pool - a reflection with crimson eyes - only smiled cynically, and inquired: "Why would you even wish to grow up?"
It takes him many long moments to realize that person was him.
His lips feel dry, so he stops, and wets them first.
He thinks of Elruda's now expressionless eyes.
He thinks of Shika-jii-chan locking his heart away...
And so, he replies to the apparition: "So I do not lose anyone precious again."
The apparition smiles, and as the face in the water melds into a even more familiar, horrible visage...
"You are such a liar, child. Did you lose your way...my poor boy?"
The voice was deeper, colder this time.
"Time passes, and yet still, you are-..."
He screams even before the pattern in those eyes changed...
...the shout twists his voice with such barbaric wildness that it could hardly be called his own.
"...here...?"
He awoke violently to that voice, not even registering the voice has become softer and quieter. His eyes burned crimson: the inky black tomoes of the Sharingan making them a foreigner's gaze.
The hand that was holding on to his sword even in sleep had unsheathed his nodachi with furious speed upon the disturbance, upsetting the desk he was sitting in in the process, even as with grace he lightly stepped over the fallen obstacle as if it had not been there. The blade would've met Amaya's throat, had not his eyes widened with horrified recognition at the last moment.
In the nick of time, he had carved the direction of the longsword to alter in the last moments -- and did not even wince as the blade slashed instead into his arm.
"Ah... I...I..."
...what to say?
What could he say?
Instead, roughly sheathing the nodachi into its sheath, he chose to flee.

Looking closely he could see that several smaller ridges had been effectively hidden. That made sense, no one, especially those in a combat situation, would be able to make a cloak perfectly flat. so he grabbed another Kunai and stuck one in each corner, eliminating most of the smaller ridges. "Okay that looks good." He said with another nod as he performed the technique yet again. "Hey, where did Chisana go?"
