Fai looked at the smoothies. "I believe the red one looks interesting," he decided randomly--purely by color. Then he took one of the cups and made his own, trying to figure out how the machine worked. "This is more of that... tech... nology?" he added, fascinated with the machine. He was a bit disappointed when his cup was full. But then he took his time sniffing and examining his drink. "Heidla, my dear, are you certain you won't try this? It smells fascinating!"

Calder had taken care of all the planning and dressing, although Barth had contributed some input. Mainly, the nature of the mask, which looked like scientific goggles and part of a spine. With his dark clothes and spindly hair, he almost looked like another sort of creature.
There were chairs, he was pleased to see.
Riley had always hated chairs.
"Yes, it's very...mysteriousss," he told Calder. Instead of muffling them, the mask gave the words a strange, tinny echo. He traced the luxurious fabric of Calder's coat. He didn't know if this counted as a break, exactly, he'd been absorbed with research, but it was important to make an appearance, at least. And Calder liked the romance of the thing, "and you look deadly." Pickles was super excited. Everything was a giant carnival!
And it meant everyone would be too distracted to guard the food.

West followed Levi with a shallow nod and a smirk for her punny punch. A drink sounded perfectly acceptable right about now. Getting bowled over by a midget did not. He growled down at the intrusion, but it was low and brief. Oh. Jove. West crossed his arms, remaining silent as the pair "talked." When they both turned to him, his eyes widened as if they had caught him doing something he shouldn't. "What?" he asked with a shrug as the song changed. "If you two wanna... swing yer thongs'round on th'dance floor, you go right ahead." He couldn't really help it. He snorted, then brought his hand up to his mouth to cover the amused sound.

Shehk scratched the staples under her ear.
"Sorry. I said I'd stop that and I'm doing really badly at actually...stopping...." It was probably a 'move away from pain' response where Nuk had felt neglected by her -not- expressing feelings so now she was like...dumping them on poor Jericho.

Wren was precious.
Xiu was surprised, though not unpleasantly so, when she suddenly felt the ghoul latch on to her arm. After the initial few seconds of confusion, she smiled and lifted a hand to pat Wren's, resisting the urge to pull her into a sudden hug. She was so sweet. Xiu could definitely see why her reaper friend was so taken with her!
Her smile changed into a grin when Sparrow danced his way onto the dance floor, joining Siobhan. "Very impressive, Sparrow! But oh, what's this?" A dance off? They couldn't miss this! And more importantly, Xiu couldn't miss getting shots of this.
"Siobhan, mind passing me back my camera? I definitely need to get some pictures of this." Then, she leaned her head towards Wren, lowering her voice to a level that was just audible over the music, "Let's cheer for them, okay?"

"I did, I was wondering who they were. They go to your Father's parties often?" Needle inquired softly, being careful around the subject as she recognized he wasn't very comfortable with it. The way he scratched his chin hair drew another giggle from her, wriggling lightly as it tickled her. It was enough to make her tilt her head back, trying to get away from the thing that tickled her.
"All right!" She cheered softly, trying to ignore the really odd song booming from the speakers. The Engraver took a step back from him, though she did take his arm to head towards the food tables. "You know...you didn't have to hold back on eating to dance with me." It was a sweet gesture, but it still made her tsk under her breath. "The night is still young~" She smiled up at him, and then turned to look around, trying to spot any familiar body shapes in the crowd.Junko? Fantastic. Why did that ghoul keep coming up? Damnit! Mac bit back an annoyed sigh, instead clenching his jaw for a moment before nodding; she wanted Junko? He'd find Junko! The Psychopomp craned his neck, looking around the crowd as best as he could to spot a particular ghoul. It took him a little while, but he spotted her. Not even a pretty braid could hide her evil.
"She's over there." He said vaguely, pointing Lizzy in her general direction. The You're Welcome was implied.

Siobhan moonwalked back to Xiu, gave her the camera, and shuffled back to join Sparrow.

Yin had, of course, misunderstood him completely, though he was still touched that his boilfriend had made the effort to actually find somebody to help him get the appropriate clothing for this little event. Really, he would have been happy just to have Yin show up, and he cared very little about what the weremantis actually wore, but just knowing that he was willing to try, and to do something that he clearly had not enjoyed doing...well, he just had the best boilfriend ever, that was all there was to it! And now he was being all adorably fidgety over the compliment Alex gave him..or maybe it was from using his full name? Alex was well aware he could get away with a lot just by adding in that extra syllable and changing his pronounciation ever so slightly. It was now just so very tempting to lean down and tease Yin by whispering his name over and over again. As it was, the gaze he was directing down at his boilfriend had quite suddenly changed to something a little more then just friendly. Wait, he'd been in this situation once before already....there was something he needed to worry about now... .....Oh dear jack if Alex wasn't careful he was going to say something stupid again! Words were entering his head, and once he thought of them, he wouldn't be able to stop himself. He needed a plan, stat! Somehow managing to drag his gaze away from Yin, he reached down to his plate and grabbed a whole handful of meat. Screw staying clean, this was an emergency situation! He shoved it all in his mouth, and began to chew, whatever he'd been about to say now drowned out by various delectable foods. There, now if he could just stand here and remain quiet for a few minutes everything would be fine again. There was no more need to pani--- Oh look Mei had returned! Glad for the sudden distraction, Alex returned the wave she had directed at them with a very enthusiastic nod of his head. His mouth was still much too full to answer Yin, but he figured if he tugged on the other boils sleeve the weremantis would get the point. To further down the table! Hopefully Yin could manage to do most of the talking for the first little bit while Alex chewed away.

Muka, despite walking, actually turned his head to see the goofy dancing going on. "Should we learn to dance like that?" Giggles were quickly rising and he paused their walk so she could see the writhing shapes in the light of the dance floor. "I must admit the dances that I know are more formal.." Another rising giggled shook his body. "These must be the modern ones!" After the momentary pause, his head turned back ahead. Oh yes... BUFFET. "Oh those few, yes they go to all of his parties. They are his closest friends." All he knew of most of them is that they'd been friends since they were scarelings, all from influential families. They finally passed out of the tables and the scent of food filled the air. Muka's sense of taste picked up the various dishes before he even got there, the steaming food floating towards. "Oh I wasn't holding back.." The strix clicked his teeth, tsking her back with a giggle. "To be honest I have been hungry constantly for the last few weeks. I am also molting!" He seemed excited. "So I will have many feathers for you! I will send them to your dorm."

Gene had blanked during the entire spell with the sucker, the vampire, and Danny and Roch being Danny and Roch. She would have suffered caffeine crash right there and then, if Danny hand't screamed her name and told her to dance with the vampire.
Dance time?
Dance time.
"Hey, oretty boil, let's dance like the lady says." Up on her feet in a flash, Gene was staring intensely at Lou.

Sparrow's smile turned into a grin.
"Oh, you do, do you?" he said, and then stood with his hands on his hips, pointing a finger dramatically at the ghoul. He knew Wren was behind him somewhere, and one glance over his shoulder showed her clinging to Xiu's arm, which pleased him.
He turned back to Siobhan.
"All right, you," he said, and straightened his shirt. "Let's get this show on the road, then."

"Ohh, you're the best," Lizzy wasn't sure why Mac always seemed grumpy whenever Junko was brought up, but he got a kiss to the cheek as a reward, before she made a motion for Mac to stay put. It took a while for her to find the ghoul, but she actually remembered her from last year's prom - even though there was a change of partner to Herryk. Holding out a CD and a slip of paper with the name of a song on it, she gave Cady the best puppy eyes she could muster.
Hopefully that'll work.
"Um, I know that this is a lot to ask," She smiled sheepishly, "But could you, um, play this song please?"

Guns? The pup had to think about that one for a minute, but came to the conclusion that he must have grown taller since last year after all. The only person he knew of who had guns was Mot, and the reaper was pretty tall. His tail curled up higher than it had all evening, and although it didn't quite touch his lower back and curl over itself like a happy foxfire, it was a start. He glanced at West again, and his ears perked at the sudden sound. No amount of covering would get past Jove's sensitive hearing, but thankfully, things could go over his head. He had no idea what thongs were. The pup let it go, not wanting to seem dumb in front of the demon, and his head tilted slightly at Levi. Oh, dancing... He was supposed to dance with all the ghouls! He had heard from a mostly reliable source that a real gentleman would dance with every ghoul, but he hadn't danced with a single one yet! Well, he would change that! Taking West's "swinging thongs" and whatnot as permission, the pup puffed out his chest and offered his hands to Levi in an invitation to dance. Sure he could be a bit squeamish around ghouls and cooties, but he had been taught to waltz like a proper gentleman before he even learned to tie shoelaces!

Over the course of several minutes, Merope had nonchalantly made his way over towards the wall. He had lingered there, hands in his pockets watching the assorted students and guests with a mix of envy and uncertainty. This was... nothing like Scarentines, as he had thought it would be. He was quite inexperienced with social gatherings -- Jack, the last time Prom occurred he had spent the entire night looking for someone before ending the evening playing games.
Merope twitched his fin-ears at the thought. The prom room was a lot noisier than he expected it to be, filled with more people than he counted on. He glanced towards the door, then looked away clenching his jaw. No. He was going to stay.
The undead boil turned and began to walk along the wall, stopping to tie the non-existent shoelance on his non-existent shoe. There was a not-quite discrete RIIIIIP in the area before he stood up and began walking along, this time at a quicker pace. Behind him, if anyone bothered to look, the curtain appeared to be somewhat shorter than the rest...
