ϨʟфϮɧ  " It won't be, dearie, I promise." Nikolai whispered, his tone weaker than a few minutes ago. " I'll find a way to return to you." It was an empty promise, and they both knew it. Hell would be eager to strip Nikolai of the titles that made him invincible against their threats, and he was sure there was a special place made just for him. He wouldn't be returning, not anytime soon. Hesitating, Nikolai turned his head and coughed again, blood staining his hand once more. It sure took a lot of energy to die, his entire being was throbbing with exhaustion and pain. Not wanting to be completely useless, Nikolai pushed himself off of Leon and back onto his feet. He wanted to go to bed and sleep off this pain. He took a few very slow and small steps forward, and by the fourth step his body had collapsed and he fell against the wall; he used his hand to stop the fall, and though it worked, it left a streak mark of his blood on the paint job.  ............................................................................... ...............................................................................

Leon Court Leon rushed forward, wrapping his arms around the man's middle and helping him to the bedroom. " Let me help you," he said softly, pushing the door open and walking him in. " Would you like me to stay with you?"

Leon CourtWith a sad smile, Leon laid beside the man he loved so entirely, wrapping his arms around him carefully and holding the frail male to his chest. " You feel so small, like I could break you," he whispered, violet eyes gazing down at Nikolai. " I'm so sorry, Nikolai... I shouldn't have pushed you to tell me you loved me."

ϨʟфϮɧ " In your arms, I'm usually this small." Nikolai attempted to joke, but his chuckle ended up as a violent cough again. He breathed slowly and slowly looked up at the man he was dying for. " Don't apologize, dearie. I would have told you I loved you anyway." he said and smiled weakly at him. The S on his brand had completely faded, and so too was the skin that held it. As the Sin separated from his soul, his body began reverting back to the state it was in before its transformation, to the weak Soviet that had been a victim to awful experiments in a concentration camp. His arm's reforming acidic burn was proof of that. Nikolai closed his eyes and leaned against Leon, comforted by the repetitive movement of his chest. The roots of his silver hair had darkened to the soft brown they had started out with, and had his eyes been open it would be visible to see hazel and lime green switching places on his irises. ..............................................................................................................................................................

Leon CourtLeon's tears rolled down his face as he stroked the brown hair, taking int he sight of the beautiful man. Even with this weakened form, in his dying state, Nikolai was still the most beautiful being Leon had ever seen. " There has to be a way around this," he whispered, holding the man close to himself. " You c-can't leave. Not now, not after everything we've been through."

Leon Court" And I will do everything I can to bring you home to me," he swore, rubbing Nikolai's arm in an attempt to bring more warmth. " Darling... Please stay awake for me." Hours later, Leon hadn't slept once, staying awake and watching him. " Oh Nikolai," he murmured, keeping careful watch.

ϨʟфϮɧ Nikolai hadn't moved from his spot, too weak to do so and immobilized by pain. He wanted to sleep away the agony like he would usually do, but the pain kept keeping him up. That, and he wanted to stay with Leon as much as possible. He was looking worse than ever, too. His hair had returned to its original brown color with only a few strands of silver in them, and his eyes had changed back to a tired hazel. Nikolai's breathing had gotten shallow and weak by then, and the brand on his arm, which had been eaten away by its acidic burn, was down to but an H. " Leon..." Nikolai rasped while clutching the man's chest each time pain shot through his body. " What was... it like... when you were dying...?" ..............................................................................................................................................................

Leon CourtLeon was stunned by the question, fingers still carefully stroking his lover's hair. " I don't really know," he admitted. " I couldn't feel it as long as I was in your arms. All I felt was peace. Peace, and and love." The man leaned closer and kissed his forehead, shaking. " Please, Nikolai... Lose yourself in me."

Mayah Playah Don 't post, I've got another o ne coming up. ϨʟфϮɧ Nikolai smiled softly as the tears rolled down his cheek. Time was running out, he had less than half an hour now. He could feel his mortality diminish, and even now his vision was beginning to fail him. There were so many things he wanted to say, thousands of thoughts floating in his mind. I'm so scared, Leon." I... I guess this is goodbye... isn't it?" Nikolai whispered. He slowly moved his hand up and cupped Leon's cheek in his hand. I don't want to die." Please don't cry, dearie... Don't be sad... I'll come back, I promise..." he said. Forcing his body to cooperate, he moved his head up to kiss the man on the lips. I don't want to leave you.He pulled away from the kiss and stayed back enough to have a few inches between them, breathing slowly as his tearful eyes gazed into the equally teary eyes. The H on his arm was fading fast, it only had a few centimeters left, and they were going fast. His hair had already faded back to brown, and his eyes were hazel. There was no longer any trace of the lazy, conniving Sin he was known for, but instead there was a scared, frail young man. " Don't forget me, okay?" Nikolai asked softly, ignoring all the pain shooting through his body. He moved forward and wrapped his arms around Leon in one last hug. " Remember all the good times we've shared. Remember everything we went through. But most of all, dearie, remember that..." ..............................................................................................................................................................

 " ...I love you..." With that said, with his final words uttered, he could finally find peace. In his arms, dying wasn't so bad. His fear drifted off and replacing it was tranquility and the warmth Leon provided him. Was this that peace and love Leon talked about? Nikolai's body shuddered. The final letter in his brand was gone, eaten away by the chemical burn. He was no longer a Sin, and his body was reacting to the sudden change. Despite how weak he felt, Nikolai kept his grip on Leon tight, refusing to let him look at this part. It would be unbearable to witness the life leave his eyes, he knew full well how awful it was. A tear rolled down his cheek, and he welcomed the cold darkness climbing up his body. His sight was the first to leave, then, one-by-one, his senses shut down. With a long exhale, his body grew limp, the hands that hugged Leon fell down, and his body stopped moving altogether. Meanwhile, above the house a crow flew. It circled the building, cawing occasionally. It cawed, yet it sounded remarkably similar to funeral bells.

Leon Court" I l-love you too..." Leon froze, staring at his lover's frozen face. That was it. He was gone. It was really over. He wanted to scream, he wanted to be angry and force him to wake up. But all he could feel was numb. The man he loved, his precious Nikolai, he was dead. Hearing Ezekiel caw, Leon was finally yanked out of his stupor, the emotions flooding him as his tears rained down. " Nikolai!!" he screamed, holding him to his chest and rocking slightly. " N-no... Please, God, no! Don't take him, don't let this be real, please!" he prayed, shaking. Looking up to the crow, he clenched his fists. " Ezekiel... Is there a way to bring him back?!"
