On Robin's side she released Black*Star. The peppy and energetic Croconaw hopped around on his claws punching his fists in a few speedy punches. He was ready to take on his opponent. On the hikers side of the field a weird onion headed pokemon in a meditative stance. The pokemon gave Black*Star a contemplative look as it got out of it's floating stance and put both feet on the floor.

"What the flip is that?" Robin asked. Juggling the now waking up Zuko with fishing her pokedex out of her bag Robin managed to get it out. "All right, let's find out what you are." She muttered as she flipped it open and scanned the other pokemon. "Meditite huh? Well, no matter what you are Black*Star and me are going to kick some serious butt! Let's start with Dragon Dance!" Black*Star grinned showing off his set of impressive looking teeth before he took off glowing. In his typical narcissistic fashion he left his large star signature on the ground with his improved agility and strength.

"That is one impressive looking Croconaw. Still Meditite and me can boost ourselves up to. Meditite use Meditate." Well that certainly was a mouthful but the fighting psychic type nodded and started floating again as it entered a meditative state. The Meditate pokemon seemed to ignore the wild Croconaw across from it effectively upsetting the water pokemon.

"Black*Star calm down!" Robin yelled as her angry little pokemon looked ready to just rush the Meditite. The blue gator heard Robin's voice and was just barely able to calm itself down from just charging at the other pokemon. "Come on Black*Star! We can blast it together, use your Bite! Show them why you are the Big Jaw pokemon." Robin grinned feeling just as pumped as her pokemon as he charged towards the Meditite.

Just as Black*Star made it to the other pokemon his large grin was opening in a very threatening manor."Meditite use Feint!" The Hiker called out.

Before Dante could give them an answer he was interrupted by an excited voice from his left. "Um, excuse me but are you the one with the shiny Rapidash?"

"Hm?" Dante's dark eyes glanced over and immediately wished that he hadn't. "Why me." He muttered shaking his head. Why was it always him? He was always the one who had to deal with the weird things. Couldn't he go one day, just one day without some whacky situation and group. Taking a deep and long suffering sigh he looked up at group of people who were standing off to the side. They were all dressed in odd shirts, most of them looking like they had some sort of cartoon ponyta on them. The odd thing was that most of them were guys and there was more pink and sparkles on them that Dante cared to count. "Yes." He muttered.

The group tittered excitedly for a moment before turning back to Dante. "Um, we were wondering if we could see it." The leader spoke up. On his shirt there was the cartoon Ponyta with the bubbly words. My Little Ponyta: Pokemon Training is Magic.

At Dante's side Leo crept closer to him and bent down to whisper in his ear. "Hey I heard about these people. They are kind of weird."

"I wouldn't expect anything else." Dante sighed. Shaking his head he glanced at the group again. "You won't let me go without letting you see him will you?"

"Good morning," Jasper said, giving a slight nod. Jett looked as though he'd slept well, which was a good thing considering the big day they had ahead of them, he and Scarlet especially. jasper couldn't hold back his grin as the younger boy had quickly noticed that there was definitely something strange about his party. A moment or so later, a fearful squeak came from the Mushroom Pokemon still clinging tightly to his shoulder and Jasper turned to see the redhead and his spirited Quilava. Scarlet had also noticed the trio of Totodiles, and as much fun as he was having watching the two of them trying to figure out how he'd acquired three water gators, he knew it was best just to tell them. Only, he wasn't sure the two boys would believe that an egg had magically appeared out of nowhere while he was in the shower. "Yeah, that's actually a pretty funny story," he said, reaching up and plucking Paras from his shoulder, and he set the bug type down on the ground, despite its terrified protests. "Jig's up, guys," he said, nodding to the other Pokemon.

Totodile plopped down on the floor, apparently still a bit sleepy as she let out a rather large yawn. Ditto made its transformation back to its normal form as slow and creepy as Pokemon-ly possible, and last but certainly not least was Zorua, and not one to be outdone, grinned up at Scarlet before she jumped up and over backwards. When she landed again, she was a perfect copy of the redhead, though like before when she'd changed into Jasper, the only noticeable difference being the cool blue of her eyes. Shen then spun around and faced Jett before repeating her backwards flip, only now she was a dead-ringer for the dark-haired boy, again with the exception of her blue eyes. "Okay, okay, you've had your fun," Jasper scolded gently, and the disguised Pokemon gave a playful bark and ran at Jasper before jumping at him, which was a rather comical sight indeed until she shifted back into her base form and started nuzzling the boy's face affectionately. "Jett, Scarlet, Cindy, meet Zorua. We had a rather... interesting meeting a little awhile ago, but I figure we can discuss it over breakfast. I dunno about you guys, but I'm practically starving."

It didn't take the trio of trainers long to find their way to the entrance to the forest, as it was pretty much go north and anyone could find it if they looked hard enough. Now Hayley had pretty much forgotten all about the previous incident with the Beedrill as she stepped through the tree-lined threshold and into the Viridian Forest, and her eyes were wide open as she kept a careful watch for any signs of a small, yellow and electrified rodent. "Oohh, this is so exciting, looking for Pokemon!" the brunette said, still bouncing with excitement, though she did manage to rein herself in a bit. After all, shouting and jumping around would likely scare off all the Pokemon.

Ivy was still perched carefully on her shoulder, but as they entered the forest she hopped down, finding herself to be feeling very at home here. Hayley turned to her friends, still beaming happily. "So, do you have any idea what kind of Pokemon you're looking for?" she asked Kressen. "There's all kinds of neat ones roaming around the forest."

"Okay, how does this stupid thing work?" Riza muttered to herself, sitting down in front of one of the computers. She glanced sheepishly at Amy and set Selena's poke ball down on the desk beside her. She knew she had an ID for this PC system because her parents had made sure all of that had been set up when she was first eligible for her trainer's license, only she couldn't quite remember how the storage system worked. She typed in her name and after a few tries remembered her password, and soon she'd gotten into the transfer system. The discussion between Kasiya and Karrigan hadn't gone unnoticed, especially when the two had practically started yelling at each other. It seemed that they both had their own ideas and opinions when it came to trading Pokemon.

After some trial and error she managed to figure out the transfer system and without putting in much thought at all deposited her bad tempered Fearow. Sure Plua could use Fly but it wasn't like she was in a big hurry to go anywhere just now, and even if she did it wouldn't take long to take the Fearow back out again. With her party reduced to the legal limit of six once again she logged off and smiled at Amy. "Sorry about the wait," she said, looking back over at the redhead and blonde as Karrigan had asked for a battle. "Oh, this is something we've got to see, don't you think?" she asked, jumping to her feet.

Katie was still definitely quite glad that Kilik wasn't upset with her from her prank and she continued to hug the Solosis against her chest as they made it further into Oreburgh City. The town hadn't changed much at all since she'd been here last and she recalled her battle with Roark, smiling a little to herself. He'd been fun to battle and she'd learned a lot from the clever and cute miner boy. She nodded when Kilik mentioned the poke mart and she opened her mouth to offer him one of her spare poke balls, but he seemed to want something specific. She still carried the sleepy psychic-type in her arms and she studied a magazine rack while Kilik picked out what he wanted. She smiled as he put the funny little Klink in a poke ball but when he offered her the second, a mad blush crept into her cheeks. Sure, it was just a simple poke ball but the gesture meant a lot to her. "Thank you so much, Kilik," she said, gently touching it to her Solosis' head, or rather, the top of her body and the blob was sucked inside without incident and Katie knew now that she'd have to trade out one of her Pokemon if she wanted to train Solosis.

"Yeah, let's go," she agreed and they quickly trekked over from the blue roofed building to the red roofed one. She knew Kilik would want to change out his super strong Pokemon for his newer ones so naturally the first place they went once they arrived was the row of computers off in the corner. Even though she only had one Pokemon to deposit, she took a while, having a good amount of difficulty deciding who to put away. 'The next gym is a fighting-type one,' she thought. 'Solosis will be good there if I can train her and get her stronger. Genki isn't leaving my party regardless and Noa will be strong there too. I promised Miles a gym battle now that he's evolved, and there's no way I'm putting away Kord. Nell is a normal-type and she's weak to fighting-types, so I guess she's my choice. My mom would love to spend time with a Buneary and I know she'll be happy and spoiled there, only I hope mom doesn't let her get fat....' Now that she'd made up her mind it was quick and easy to finish the transfer. As she logged off, a name had also popped into her mind for her new Solosis: Darla.

"So, will you be off to the gym now?" she asked Kilik once he was done as well. "I really need to keep moving, so..." she trailed off. She really didn't want to separate from the black haired boy right now, but she still had Mai's mission to complete and she didn't want to keep her new boss waiting too long. She needed to get to Solaceon soon.

Grunting at Alex's comment he simply stated. "It's a sunburn kid, don't worry about it." He ran behind Hayley until they reached the forest then just slowed down to a brisk walk. He was still a bit worried about the beedrill, but with the three of them together they'd have a good chance of driving off an angry swarm.

Meanwhile on the path ahead of them an oran berry rolled onto the path as Kressen began to speak. "Yea I can't wait to spot one. I don't know what I'm looking for really. Honestly, I prefer my pokemon to choose and find me. It makes it all the more special to catch them then instead of jumping one I just happen to come across.'

A Caterpie soon came out of the bushes after the oran berry. Never before in the young pokemon's life had i found such a perfect oran berry. It was so round and blue and it smelled delectable. Now it was all hers. That is it would have been if a certain red headed trainers booted foot didn't just step on it.

Kressen looked down as he felt something squish underneath his boot.Huh? He looked down to find a Caterpie with a soul crushed look in its eyes staring at his boot. "Hey look a Caterpie. How you doing little fella?" He didn't know he had just crushed not only its meal, bu it's dreams of eating the tastiest oran berry ever.

The red-heads voice brought the Caterpie out of its despair and instead roused its fury. She looked up at him her eyes glowing red and let out a little cry before using string shot on the trainers face. It then tackled him in the stomach sending the two of them tumbling backwards into a bush. The red head let out a surprised grunt as he was attacked and pulled out a pokeball. Gigas I chose you!" The little fire type came out expecting more fun, but instead found his trainer in a brawl with a Caterpie. Blinking for a moment in confusion, he soon jumped into the fray to aid his trainer.

As Elgyem had started to calm down Crenu set her down, the young psychic type sitting on the ground and levitating some rocks playfully. He sighed as he watched her play, Nasty Plot was a bit too powerful to use right now it seemed. For now confusion would be their main focus, until she learned better control. The faint red glow of his cigarette intensified as he took another drag from the dwindling death stick, letting the grey smoke out with a sigh. He looked back towards the entrance of the center, still no sign of the raven haired girl. "...what's she doing in there? I thought Riza disliked socializing almost as much as I do." With another deep drag the cigarette was gone, and Crenu wasted no time in lighting up a new one. Whatever was going on inside, it was taking forever. In all reality it really hadn't been a long time at all, but his impatience made it seem far worse. Still, he wasn't going anywhere. Rather than take off on his own for a bit he decided he would wait, because even though he had no destinations in mind and could honestly go anywhere, one thing was sure. He didn't want to go there without Riza. They had hit a really rough patch at the contest, but the night they spent together afterwards meant...well it meant something didn't it? He wasn't naive enough to believe it erased all of it, or made up for it. But at least it meant things were ok between them right? Or at least that things weren't so bad...definitely salvageable. Or at least he hoped. Striving for absolute strength was the most important thing to Crenu...but maybe striving to keep Riza was also something almost as important. Or equally as important. Maybe...maybe more important. He furrowed his brow as these thoughts pelted his brain, and at the same time he tried to oppose them. No no, can't get distracted. My goal, to become the most powerful...that's what's important. If I have that kind of power I can make sure I don't lose anyone ever, that I don't loose Riza or anyone. I can't get distracted...she's a distraction. I need to distance myself from her...to be able to help her. In the long run it's better... yeah. It's not the easy rout, but it's the best rout. It almost seemed as though Crenu had accepted this train of thought when suddenly his mind was bombarded with images of the raven haired beauty, her cute smile and snowy skin...her long hair...different images from his time with her kept flooding in one after another, and he found it impossible to not think of her. How could he ignore her? Distance himself from her? The best thing to happen to him since childhood...she was wonderful and she didn't cast him away like everyone else even though he wasn't very nice. While these images of her continued to flood in, Elgyem sat there silently, eyes glowing as she stared directly at her Trainer unknown to him.

A reassuring smile flitted across her expression when Riza glanced back at her sheepishly, as if unsure how to use the PC system. In all honesty, Amy had no idea how to operate it either, but she had no need for it at the moment. It shouldn't be too bad when she finally got a full team and happened to catch a seventh Pokemon, leaving one in need of storing. Maybe Mom would like some company, she thought, having heard of several trainers sending their Pokemon to reside elsewhere instead of boxing them up.

Not too far away, the conversation between Karrigan and Kasiya appeared to be growing heated. Amy glanced their way once or twice, but she didn't need to look to hear, listening in on the redhead protesting that trading Pokemon might hurt their feelings. She refrained from commenting aloud that she hadn't thought of it that way, but it made sense; she could only think of poor Marshall's face if she told him she was going to trade him away. But the blonde's counterpoints also made a lot of sense; catching Pokemon was like meeting people, wasn't it? And there were bound to be some people you couldn't along with very well. She glanced at the raven-haired girl as she figured out the computer system, smiling a little to herself. Like those two. But Riza seemed to wrap up then, having deposited one of her Pokemon into the machine. Amy smiled again.

"Oh, no, don't worry about it," she said quietly with a wave of her hand, overhearing Karrigan ask Kasiya for a quick battle. She turned to face the girls and then looked back at Riza, who seemed just as interested as she was. "I would love to watch," the bespectacled girl agreed, wondering what exactly Karrigan had in mind.

"Please," Jade replied easily, lips turning into a cool smile as she canted her head a fraction to the left. Her eyes narrowed just a bit when the girl commanded for her snobbish looking cat to use Hypnosis; having Cirrus fall asleep right now would be inopportune. "Cirrus," she called out, momentary worries melting away when she saw the Shinx ready for action, electricity still crackling around his fur, but before she could offer an attack to use, he took matters into his own hands. With less concentration than before, the Flash Pokemon glowed with the stored up electric energy and charged towards Glameow, gaze slightly averted to avoid getting hypnotized. At last moment, he feinted left before striking right with particular ferocity, something that made Jade's indifferent facade crack a little with a habitual scowl. Damn cat, she thought, displeased with his attacking before ordered, but she would let this one slide.

Meanwhile, the curly-headed boy's distress only worsened when his blonde opponent ordered for a Thunder Wave, eyes widening. "Misdreavus, get out of the way!" he yelled, and the Ghost-type squeezed its eyes shut, trying to weave out of the way of the electric charge. But it struck true, and the Screech Pokemon stiffened before directing its harsh stare upon the floating steel ball that did this. "Use Astonish, then!" its trainer suggested, paling, and after a moment of apparent concentration, the Ghost-type flew up towards Magnemite, a ghostly wail escaping as it did so.

Jett had also been suspecting another Ditto when Jasper announced that their prank was done, but after the little blue blob transformed, the only other duplicate Totodile looked at Scarlet and then turned into an exact replica. The raven-haired boy stared, mouth hanging agape, as this doppelganger turned into him as well. But he didn't bark, especially like that. He covered his open mouth, watching as he--no, other-Jett--turned back into a little black fox Pokemon that seemed quite pleased with her own antics. The eggs, some rational part of his brain tried to tell him. Invasion of the Bodysnatchers, another, much less rational part retorted.

"Yeah," he finally managed, after the older boy mentioned breakfast, and he felt the familiar aching of hunger in his own stomach. "Breakfast would be great." Without further adieu, he headed into the cafe, waiting for the other two boys and their Pokemon to catch up before he started piling his tray with food. Already, he was wary of feeding his entire team at once, after what had happened with Naja last night. But he would wait until his own hunger was satiated and he had a clearer head to figure all that out. Sitting down, he glanced up at Jasper and Scarlet, smiling a little. "Are you guys ready for today?" And then, after listening to their answers as he began to eat his waffles, he looked up at Jasper, already knowing the answer but still asking, "So, Jasper, how did you find a Pokemon like Zorua?" He glanced at Scarlet, smiling a little, remembering how they had both gotten their newest Pokemon the night before.

[Time Skip]

The boy scratched at the back of his head when she blushed and thanked him, feeling his face grow a little hot himself. "Not a problem," he laughed a little and walked outside with her towards the Pokemon Center. The walk was a short one, and a quiet one at that; it appeared that the big machines in the south of the city weren't on right now and the two trainers didn't have much conversation on their way to the center. As they stepped inside, Flareon hopped off his trainer's shoulder and let his paws feel the cold tile and shivered. It must have felt good on the pads of his feet. "Alright, buddy, ready to go back home?" Kilik knelt down and put a hand on his Flareon's head. The fox let out a little bark-like noise and happily went back into his Pokeball. "Hopefully you can rest a little bit longer, Flareon!" he laughed, typing in his information to log in to the Pokemon Storage program. You'll all need your strength for whenever we finally fight Giovanni, right?, he thought, looking at the little icons as all his stronger Pokemon were deposited. He figured that he would have to put in a lot of quality training with his them later down the road once it was time to finally shut down Team Rocket once and for all. But, that wouldn't be for some time...he figured he and his friends could use some sort of peace before tackling the most powerful organization in the world.

They've hurt all of us, he thought, clicking and dragging his Chimchar into his party, but none moreso than Kasiya, Mike and myself. It's Giovanni's fault Mike finally snapped. Mai, Kasiya's own flesh and blood, is part of that wicked group and me... he let out a sigh through his nose as he brought over Grovyle and Drifloon, As if I need to recall some of those horror stories. Once he had everyone in his party all set, he glanced over at Katie, who was approaching him. He blinked and then smiled. "Yep!" the boy stood up a little straighter and put his fist over his chest. "That badge is as good as mine!"

"But you do what you need to," Kilik put his hands by his sides, "I think I may go train Chimchar a little more and evolve him before challenging Roark; that way, I've got an even bigger advantage!" He looked down at Genki and then back to Katie, grinning, "And hopefully, he'll be as strong as yours!" Kilik opened his pouch and took out a pen and a piece of paper. "If you ever need to get a hold of me, here's my Poketch number." He handed it to her; part of him didn't want her to take it. He wanted her to decide to travel with him for a little longer, but he couldn't delay her departure for much longer.

"Have a good journey. We'll meet up again, for sure. And you two," he looked down at Kord (Cable had finally set him on the ground) and Genki, "take care of her. I'm counting on you guys." He winked, and put a hand on Cable's beefy arm. It was just about time to go -- but as a gentleman, he would let the lady head out first.

Mazarin was having the time of his life down in those caves. His first real solo mission! Against Team Rocket, no less! Finally, it was his chance to prove himself as an invaluable member to the mercenaries group! As he was getting ready to head down a ladder to go deeper into the cave, he heard a girl call out to him. Maz, never one to ignore a lady, turned on the spot and saw her. His jaw dropped--those curves, that short skirt! Her razor straight green hair, topped with a lovely black beret. "Team Rocket may blow, but they sure know how to pick the hotties!" He laughed, putting his hands on his hips. "I shouldn't be here? You guys are the ones that shouldn't be here!" he pointed a finger at her.

"Look cutie, I know your higher up sent you down here to get rid of me, but I guess that just means I'll have to give you a solid pounding!" He paused, "After our battle of course, OH!" he made an obscene thrusting gesture and then twirled, tossing out his Sharpedo and Honckrow. "What's your name, prettypants? I'd like to know before I take you out!" Again he paused, "to a lovely dinner for two. Maybe we can hook up later?" Mazarin straightened his scarf and winked at the girl. Sending a girl after him; what were they thinking?! It wouldn't be long before he managed to finish this battle and charm the skirt right off her!

I deserve to be happy? he thought, mentally scoffing. No, I don't. Not really. Despite the internal war his brain was now having with his mouth over what to say next, Keegan said nothing at the moment and pretended to be preoccupied with watching the sleepy candle Pokemon that Kasiya still held. He knew damned well that all he really had to was tell her about Mai, and then she'd run away from him at top speed and straight into Mike's arms. And, even though he fully recalled Mai's warning, he didn't think she'd actually go through with any of her threats in the first place, as that would mean admitting to it and likely leading her into embarrassment. The thought of it almost made him laugh, but he managed to stay quiet, and instead just shook his head. "Yeah, I guess," he said, but he quite obviously didn't believe it himself. "I want you to be happy, though. That's all that matters to me." Now that he did believe, and he stepped forward and pushed the door open, as he knew she'd be eager to get back to Mike and he didn't want to keep her any longer, even if it killed him inside to let her go. "We should get back," he mumbled.

He stepped through the doorway and had a quick look around. There wasn't anyone in sight anymore and he relaxed a bit, as it wasn't likely they'd link the bathroom incident to him now, or at least he hoped that, anyway. He sighed and looked back at the blonde, managing a semi-believable smile as they made their way back to Mike's room. Keegan could hear Flannery speaking as they reached the open door and he stopped, his heart beating erratically as Flannery asked what he thought was a rather loaded question. It then stopped beating all together as he waited for Mike's answer. The redhead closed his eyes at the response, a troubling pain shooting through his stomach that he couldn't quite put a name to. Of course Mike loved Kasiya too; he'd be stupid not to and he sighed, somehow magically managing to keep himself from being violently sick all over the place. He didn't dare look at Kasiya as he knew she'd heard everything as clearly as he had and he put on a brave front, knocking at the side of the door frame before reentering the room. There were many things on his mind but he said nothing, though the expression on his face was enough to show just how much he was hurting.
=====
"All right, I'm right behind you, then," Lee said, and Miharu felt his hand on her shoulder and a calming warmth starting to seep through her body. Her earlier nervousness had all but melted away and now she felt a lot more confident. She smiled and exhaled deeply, but something had crossed her mind then and her brow furrowed as the wheels in her head started to turn.

"Hang on, there's one last thing I need to do," she said suddenly. "Wait here, I'll be right back," she added, turning and starting to run off down the street.

"Uh, all right," Lee said, only able to blink in response as he watched the green-haired girl run until she'd disappeared from view. He had no idea why or where she was suddenly running off, but he figured that she'd probably have a good reason.

Miharu went over a quick mental map of Olivine in her head and quickly pinpointed the Mart, and by the time she arrived there the shopkeeper was just about ready to start closing. He seemed quite annoyed with the girl until she explained why she was there, and with his help, she was quickly able to locate and purchase the exact TM she was looking for. She thanked the man and left a generous tip for his helpfulness. Once she'd left the store, she released her Ampharos and taught her the new move, already in the process of recalling her as she rushed back to the gym. "Sorry," she muttered, grinning sheepishly up at Leroy once she'd caught her breath. "I just remembered something at the last minute."

Lee blinked a few times, and then shrugged. "It's fine. It's not like the gym went anywhere while you were gone. That is, if you're still up for it."

The fact that Keegan wasn't saying much else was a bit unnerving, as generally their discussions were heated and full of words, often harsh ones. Kasiya couldn't help but get the feeling that he was giving up, and the defeated, broken look on his face certainly didn't help, either. She honestly didn't know what else to say at this point so she shifted Pumpkin in her arms and nodded, knowing that if she were to make eye-contact with him now it would likely break her, too. She flinched a little when he moved by her to open the door and nearly ran into him from behind as he'd stopped quite abruptly. She simply shrugged at the odd smile he gave her and as she looked around, not really piecing together the security guards and the bathroom cleanup crew and the fact that they were looking for the idiot that had blown up one of their toilets just a few minutes ago.

They quickly made their way across the hall and back to Mike's room, able to hear the sound of voices growing louder as they came nearer and nearer. Once again Keegan stopped abruptly in the doorway and this time Kasiya did run into him, giving a soft groan as her tired body protested the impact. Pumpkin remained sleepily nestled in her arms and she clutched the little candle a bit tighter, her heart pounding so loudly she was certain it would startle him and wake him up. She almost couldn't believe what she was hearing and she pushed past the redhead and into the room. Mike and Flannery were both seated on the floor, and there was definitely an air of tension in the room as words were exchanged, and Kasiya felt tears in her eyes as she heard Mike admit to what a part of her had already known to be true. Yes, he'd admitted feeling something, that past night on Cinnabar Island, but that was before he'd rid himself of Milo for good, and somehow, hearing him say those words now felt very different. Her heart swelled and she stepped fully into the room, now only vaguely aware of Keegan's presence. She opened her mouth to say something but closed it again as words failed her, and instead she just stood quietly, smiling like the Meowth that had caught the Pidgey - somehow knowing that Mike loved her too made everything they'd just gone through worthwhile. But at the same time, hearing him say he couldn't have either of them, was both heartbreaking, and it made her angry. She'd seen him at his worst, yet she was still here, still by his side and not going anywhere any time soon. Why did he think he couldn't be with either of them? Of course he could, and she took a few, cautious steps toward him, still carrying his young Litwick.
=-=-=-=-=

It's not angering me he's worried about? Flannery thought, her gaze dropping to the cool linoleum of the floor. Those words were quite foreboding and she couldn't help but get a feeling of dread as Mike spoke. Her fears were confirmed and she closed her eyes, managing to keep herself from tears and instead letting out a long, shaky sigh. Of course he loved her, considering everything they'd been through together, and she stood up, still unable to make eye contact with him. She wanted more than anything to hate the blonde: to hate her for initially meeting Mike, and for becoming his friend and always just... being there. She wanted to hate her for standing beside him and standing up for him. She wanted to hate her for loving him, and causing him to love her back, though as much as she tried, she just couldn't. There was something about Kasiya that made it almost impossible to dislike or hate her on any level. Flannery sighed, finally managing to look at Mike, and she nodded slowly, unable to think of anything else to say.

She looked over then, realizing that Keegan and the blonde in question had both been standing there for quite some time, and had undoubtedly heard the whole thing, as well. Naturally, Kasiya looked quite thrilled by the revelation while Keegan looked utterly devastated and like he was fighting back the urge to be sick. Flannery's heart went out to the other redhead, but at the very least, she could sympathize with him. She wanted nothing more than to comfort him, but she knew full-well that if she did, she'd burst into tears and probably be unable to stop for quite some time.

The redheaded girl narrowed her red eyes as the annoying Shinx managed to avoid the Hypnosis and instead retaliated with a Spark, though the fact that it had acted without permission from the girl brought a smirk to her lips. Glameow gave a pained cry from the electrified tackle and she staggered back, visibly shaken. "Fight back with Scratch while you're close," the girl urged. The battle was far from over, even if things weren't looking so good for her partner. The Catty Pokemon let out a sharp growl and lunged at Cirrus, claws bared. She'd make the Electric-type pay for that shock she'd received!

Meanwhile, Jake smirked a little as he watched Magnemite's Thunder Wave work its magic. He glanced over at Jade, certain she was able to take care of her side of things. The curly-headed boy had called for an Astonish, and now the Screech Pokemon was heading toward the Steel and Electric-type, letting out an eerie, ghostly wail. "Hang in there, Magnemite," Jake called, "and use Thundershock when it hits you!" The blonde clenched a fist and smiled, watching as the Magnet Pokemon obeyed. It didn't appear to like the Astonish attack but again it remained strong, its single-eye still staring straight ahead as it unleashed an arching bolt of lightning toward the Ghost-type. Jake wasn't sure why, but at that point in time he made a mental note to himself to pick up a Thunderbolt TM the next time he was in a town with a PokeMart.

For a moment, Kasiya just stared at Karrigan, trying to piece together what the redhead had said. She didn't think she was compatible with one of her Pokemon, and now she wanted to battle to test something out? Needless to say, it was pretty much the last thing Kasiya had been expecting, but since her moods changed like the weather, she smiled brightly. "Sure thing! Why didn't you just say so in the first place?" She waved at Amy and Riza as they passed by, not at all bothered by the fact that she was about to have yet another battle today. "Let's just use the arena that's out behind the center," she said, motioning for the redheaded girl to follow her. Once outside they passed by Crenu again and Kasiya simply beamed a happy smile at him and his Elgyem as they went around toward the back of the building.

When Kasiya's demeanor shifted back to a calm and happy one, Karrigan breathed a quiet sigh of relief. She hadn't meant to to get so riled up about the whole trading thing, and she also hand't realized just how strongly she felt about it. "All right, sorry," she muttered, quickly following after the blonde and gave Amy and Riza a sheepish waved as she passed them. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea, she thought as she stepped outside of the cool Pokemon Center and into the warm Vermilion sun. Kasiya had seemed like a very tough trainer when she was battling Riza earlier, and though that thought made the redhead a bit nervous, she was determined to see this compatibility thing through. Once they'd rounded the center and reached the arena without incident, Karrigan sighed, glancing again at the red and white sphere she still held in her good hand. "Okay, Zaira, let's go," she said, tossing the Pokeball. The ever-energetic Shinx appeared in a flash of light, though she seemed a little more subdued than usual, perhaps still feeling guilty of the incident in Saffron earlier. "Okay, Kasiya," Karrigan called. "We can start whenever you're ready."

Now Kasiya wasn't quite sure what to expect as she walked across the ground to the other side of the arena, trying to recall what Pokemon Karrigan had been using during her battle with Amy beforehand. She definitely remembered an Onix, as those were pretty tough to just forget about, and she was pretty certain the other had been a Fire-type. A Vulpix, maybe? She couldn't quite remember, but regardless, she was very interested to see what Pokemon a trainer from the Sinnoh region would have. The blonde let out a quiet, excited gasp when she saw the Shinx; hadn't that been one of the Pokemon that Professor Rowan had been showing off at the seminar? Kasiya practically whipped out her PokeDex, still letting out excited noises as she studied it. It was an Electric-type and the pre-evolved form of Luxray, which had been one the Pokemon that Rowan had showed them on the projector. At a glance, however, Kasiya could easily see that there was something amiss between the redhead and her Shinx and she frowned, not sure of what Pokemon to send out to face them. Rosemary and Nova would likely be too tough, and little Pepper was still newly-hatched. Alphonse would be a sitting duck - penguin - against an Electric-type and she wanted to get to know Ariados before flinging her into a battle all willy-nilly. "I guess that leaves you," she said, smiling. "Calliope, I choose you!" The sphere rolled off her fingertips and burst open, revealing her Tropius. The Grass/Flying-type flapped her great leafy wings in order to land softly on the ground. She cooed over at Karrigan and her Pokemon, seemingly interested in battling. Kasiya grinned. "Okay, Callie! Let's start off with your Gust attack!" she called, deciding to take the initiative and make the first move. Calliope flapped her wings again, stirring up a strong, biting wind that whipped across the ground towards Zaira.

Karrigan's mouth gaped open slightly when she saw the large Pokemon, and she quickly used her own PokeDex to scan the leafy dinosaur. "Tropius, wow," she murmured, looking to Zaira as Kasiya had quickly gotten things underway with a powerful Gust attack. "Stand your ground," she called to her Shinx, who was very much dwarfed in comparison. "Use Charge!" Zaira's eyes were quite wide when she saw her opponent, but that didn't stop her fur from bristling and she let out a growl, deciding she wouldn't let her opponent frighten her! As much as she wanted to dart over there and chomp down on one of those leafy wings she decided that after her actions today and yesterday, she needed to listen to Karrigan. So, she hunkered down, claws digging into the ground to give her some grip and she started to build up electricity, her whole body sparking with a bright yellow energy as she stared down the Tropius, teeth grit tight as the Gust whipped and tore at her.

Miharu looked up at Lee, blinking curiously. "Well, yes, of course I'm still up for it," she said, nodding firmly. "I've come all this way, and I'm not about to give up now." She gazed over at the gym doors and took a deep breath. "Even if we don't win today, we can always try again." That last part was mostly directed at herself, and she sighed, smiling up at Lee. "Either way, it'll be a learning experience."

Lee had to admit that he liked the girl's resolve, as he went in with a do-or-die attitude, even if he had tried and failed several times to win at the Lavaridge gym. Perhaps once he was done with this girl, he'd head back to Hoenn and attempt to win a few more badges. It'd probably be quite easy, especially with those strong Pokemon at his command. Lee quickly wiped the almost-dreamy smile from his face and focused on Miharu. "Don't worry about it," he said nonchalantly, and he leaned down and placed a gentle kiss on her cheek. "I'm sure you're walking out of here tonight with that badge."

Once again, that same warmth started to flow through Miharu and she couldn't help but blush a little, but her resolve didn't waver. She put on a determined expression and marched up to the gym's doors, swinging them open with a bit of effort. She walked inside, still quite confident as her steps echoed loudly around her. She took a deep breath, and closed her eyes, giving herself one last moment to steel her nerves before she opened them again. "My name is Miharu Winters, and I'm here to challenge the Olivine Gym Leader to battle!" she shouted, her voice amplified by the emptiness of the room. Behind her, Lee smirked and slinked off to the sidelines. Now that was the way to challenge a gym.

After he finished shuddering as he watched a Totodile melt into the blue pile of sludge that was Ditto, Scarlet thought that the egg fairy had cheated Jasper with another Totodile. Course, that didn’t last long, what with the crocodile suddenly shifting into an incredibly attractive redheaded gentleman named Scarlet Pine, except his cool dark eyes were replaced by a pair of icy blues. Cindy’s eyes widened in horror as the world had given birth to a second of her trainer. She yelped as she darted back behind who she hoped was the actual Scarlet, while the redhead himself barely managed not to step on her as he staggered backward, wide eyed and jaw dropped. “W-What?” he cried, only to repeat it again when the Other him morphed into, well, another Jett. “W-What…?”

The sneaking suspicion that ditto might reproduce via mitosis died away when Jasper talked down Other Jett, who attempted to tackle him. Thankfully, it transformed yet again, this time into an almost-black fox pokemon Scarlet wasn’t entirely sure existed. Cindy eyed it carefully as it nuzzled Jasper, almost certain it came from wherever Viy and Sledge had appeared from.

“That… I… … I could eat?” Scarlet muttered, still staring in amazement at the weird little shape shifting fox. Jasper’s team was…. Well, most certainly a team. The redhead stroked his chin, gaze darting between Ditto and Zoruthing as he followed Jett down into the cafeteria. The wait in the line calmed his curiousity a bit though, and he loaded enough food onto his tray to stuff his face and feed his team too.

“Yep! I’m gonna totally destroy Bugsy!” the redhead smirked. Cindy cheerfully barked in agreement as Scarlet took his seat and slid Cindy’s bowl on the linoleum beside him. “Oh yeah,” Scarlet nodded back toward Jett, grinning about as subtlely as an Electrode in a lightning storm. He absentmindedly rubbed the knot on the top of his head, then he reached for a cup of coffee. “You should totally fill us in on where you found your fox buddy.”

“Oh,” Alex said quietly, turning a little red herself. She’d never really been grunted at before, and when he put it that way, her question felt a little stupid. So she clamped up and squeezed Roll’s hand a tiny bit tighter as they approached the tree line. The larvitar’s lips turned downward in a tiny upside down u when they got under the shadows of the canopy. The lack of buzzing was pretty indicative though, and the brunette’s happiness was rather infectious. Gazing up at her trainer’s semi-serious expression as the blond looked around for a glimpse of yellow darting through the trees, Roll found herself wishing Alex was that cheerful.

Roll soon found herself distracted, however, as she spotted the second bright green caterpillar that day, excitedly squirming as fast as she could squirm after a bright blue berry that frankly looked as though it were crafted by a god that made berries look really tasty. She found herself drooling just a tiny bit. At least until Kressen stepped on it. Her eyes started to well up with tears and a single beam of sunlight pierced through the leafy canopy and caught a single bead rolling down her cheeks. Alex stopped her search for one of the electric mice and glanced down at her sniffling Larvitar. “… What’s wrong?”

Nothing was the apparent answer. After all, seeing a man take a string shot to the face and promptly taken down to his rear by a tiny green bug was the funniest thing Roll had seen since they set out on the adventure. The Rock Skin pokemon was the next to hit the ground, giggling profusely as Gigas was summoned.

“O-Oh… You can do it, Kressen! Go Gigas!” Alexis cheered as she ran to the sidelines, secretly hoping that maybe the redhead had forgotten her question in his possible excitement at catching the Caterpie.

Blues wasn’t quite so sure that Kressen could pull it off though. In a split second, he had appeared a few feet behind Alexis, eyes narrowed in suspicion as he watched the battle unfold. People had a way of underestimating bug types, he knew. But something about this caterpie filled him with a primal fear. It made every inch of his skin crawl, which reminded him of more bugs, and that was no good. He gripped his twisted spoon tightly and watched, preparing to launch the unwelcome bug type across the forest if it dared to squirm its way toward him.

Flannery's defeated expression made his heart sink into his stomach. Love was supposed to make people happy, but it seems like he could even mess that up too. "I'm sorry." was all he could say. His expression darkened when he looked up after hearing a knock to see Keegan and Kasiya standing in the doorway. Pumpkin sat nestled in the girl's arms, having fallen asleep. Their expressions couldn't have been different. Kasiya was grinning ear to ear at him, to which Mike could only assume she'd heard him declare how he felt about her. It was confirmed when Keegan friend just stood silently, his face saying all the words he couldn't. It was the strangest thing. He had never had such mixed feelings about the people he was around in his life. Here he was with his friends, old and new, each one of them emotionally overwhelmed by the events of the past few days. Mike looked at Kasiya, who beamed at him with such expectant joy that he couldn't help draw strength from it. He knew he'd need it for what was going to happen next.

"Hey." he said weakly to both girls, turning to Flannery. "Think I could have a talk with Keegan for a second?" He shot both girl's an apologetic look, knowing that the last person they wanted to see at this moment was each other.

I'm sure he has much he would like to say to you. said a pair of eyes on the darkened floor.

"Don't worry." he said lightly in hopes to get the girl to crack a smile. "He can't beat me up any worse. I'm already in the hospital." To most, that would be a cute joke. But Flannery knew better than anyone that what followed could very well end with fists flying.

"Alright." he said with a grunt as he weakly lifted himself to his feet. "Let's do this." he raised his hands, already balled in fists. He wore a weak smile. "Just like when we were kids. I'm your punching bag, remember? Bring it on. Even like this I bet I could kick your a**!" Truth is, he'd never won a fair fight against the red-head. Whether that was because he had always been the smaller one or that their scuffles always ended with them rolling in the dirt was still up in the air, but both always looked like they'd been run over. "Come on." he said, the wires dangling as he weakly bobbed back and forth, trying his best not to pass out from moving.

Riza raised an eyebrow and watched with a half smirk as Kasiya and Karrigan walked past her and Amy to go outside, and she nudged the brunette gently with her elbow. "Come on," she said, almost immediately following after the two. "I don't wanna miss this." Of course, Riza was a tad oblivious as to what was really going on with Karrigan, as she was far too concerned with not missing a chance to watch and study her new rival in action. She led the way through the sliding doors, quickly spotting Crenu nearby with his young Elgyem. She slowed her pace as she neared him, not missing the distant look on his face and she couldn't help but realize that she was more than likely holding him up from his own goals of training and getting stronger. "I, um, I'm gonna stick around here a while longer," she said. "If you wanna go off a head and do whatever, that's all right with me because we can always meet up again later. I don't want to hold you back from your training." She leaned in and kissed him on the cheek, allowing her lips to linger a bit before she pulled back. "I really don't mind," she added before she continued off around to the back of the pokecenter.

When they arrived, the two girls had already let out their respective Pokemon, and Riza couldn't help but stare in awe at the Tropius that Kasiya had released. She'd seen one do rather well in a contest not too long before she'd left home so she didn't bother scanning it with her Pokedex, but she did point it at the blue and black kitten that Karrigan was using. "Shinx," she murmured to herself, "quite a cutie, really." She stowed the device as Kasiya's Tropius unleashed a powerful looking Gust attack, and in reply, the Shinx began to charge up power, standing pretty strong against the flying-type attack. "Tropius is an amazing Pokemon," she smiled, deciding then to let her Snivy out of her poke ball. "Watch closely, Selena. This is a battle, and soon we'll begin your training, too." The Snivy gave a nod and looked forward, her eyes fixed squarely on the battle. She wanted to grow stronger and please her trainer, and if that meant learning as much as possible, she was up for it!

Katie couldn't help but feel a bit sad now that she'd be parting ways with Kilik, but that was the life of a trainer, after all. They both had their own paths to follow, and if they were lucky, perhaps their paths would meet again someday. Even still, Kilik was the first friend she'd made so far and it was tough for her to split up with him. She accepted the slip of paper, but not before tearing off a blank piece and writing her own phone number on it. "That goes for you too," she said, handing it to him. "You can call me any time, and for any reason, too." Her cheeks had taken on a bit of a blush, but she managed to regain her composure. "And, I expect a full report for when you and your Pokemon defeat Roark, got it?" She grinned up at him, and then sighed. "We will meet up again soon, I just know it."

She curtsied slightly before exiting the pokecenter and she stepped outside, shivering slightly from a cool breeze. Genki and Kord were still at her side, neither one of them having taken Kilik's request to take care of her to heart. Katie smiled at both Pokemon and then recalled them, knowing they'd need their strength for the journey. She quickly checked her map, mentally marking out the route she'd need to follow. She'd have to go north from Oreburgh and up to Route 207 and manage to pass through Mt. Coronet. From there it was a quick trip over to Hearthome, and she'd be able to regroup and restock her supplies there. It occurred to her that she had no medicines of any kind, or food for her or her Pokemon and she really had no idea how long it would take her to make her way through Mt. Coronet so she decided to head back to the pokemart. What would she do if one of her Pokemon ended up poisoned or paralyzed, or too weak to protect her? The clerk seemed surprised to see her again but she simply smiled at him, grabbing a shopping basket and quickly making her way around the store. She grabbed two Potions, two Super Potions, two Antidotes, a Paralyze Heal, two poke balls, and a great ball. The running total she kept in her head told her she still had plenty of money left so she wandered over to the TM section and had a look. Kord, Miles and Darla hadn't learned any TMs as of yet, but she knew the Elekid's moves were already versatile. She didn't see anything that suited her Floatzel either, but one in particular caught her eye for the young Solosis, and when Pokemon were young, they didn't know many techniques. She smiled as she added the TM30 to her basket and made her way to the front of the store. She was ready for the first leg of her trip to Solaceon Town.

It was well past supper time now and Jasmine was very nearly ready to close down the gym for the evening and head home, as she hadn't had any challengers at all today and she rarely got any this late in the evening anyway. She also wanted to get back to the lighthouse and check on the Pokemon she kept there, Amphy the Ampharos. He wasn't really hers exactly, but she was quite close to the electric-type and had taken care of him since he was a young Mareep. Naturally, however, as she moved to shut down the lights, the doors began to swing open and a rather small girl followed by a taller boy entered. At first she was quite sure the boy would be her challenger, as many boys often liked to try and impress their girlfriends by beating her (the key word being try, as she did fend off a fair number of challengers after all), but the girl spoke up, and issued her challenge in a loud, echoing voice.

Jasmine made her way out to the center of the room, quickly taking in this young girl, Miharu. She had long, flowy green hair and she seemed a little young, but the glimmer in her green eyes showed she was not to be taken lightly. "Welcome to the Olivine Gym, Miharu," she said, noting that the blonde boy that had accompanied her had gone off to the sidelines. "My name is Jasmine, and as gym leader, it is my duty to accept all challengers." 'No matter how late they may come in the day,' she thought to herself. At that point she noticed something quite peculiar about the girl and after a moment or so of staring she realized that the girl was wearing the exact same dress she was, matching sandals included. This fact startled her, and she smiled, nodding to Miharu. "You have good taste in clothing," she added, before backing up to her end of the arena. "That aside, if you want my badge, you'll have to defeat me and my steel-clad Pokemon. The battle will be four on four with no items, and no time limit. My first Pokemon will be this one!" She launched a sphere into the air and a bird covered in steely armor flew up, cawing loudly. "Skarmory, let's teach them how tough steel-types can be!"
