                      xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxOmega - Hungover

Despite the screeching sounds of the sirens, the native forced down the two aspirin that looked too small in his hand to provide much relief to the aching in his head. It was almost loud enough to make his stomach heave, but by sheer willpower he wouldn't allow it. This was not going to be one of those days.

The sound of two bodies crashing into one another caused Aren to follow Cammi out into the hall to check the damage. She muttered that she felt as though she'd been run over by a train, and he'd found amusement in the statement. "But because of the alcohol, The size shifter corrected in a matter-of-fact tone, "I can't honestly say I don't know a train didn't graze me." And while it wasn't exactly mature, he proceeded to stick his tongue out at his half-naked friend.

Tsunami joined them, and he went for a small wave of his hand as a gesture of friendliness, unsure if he'd met the person before in his current frame of mind. He and Kerri both reached for the integumentary manipulator's shirt, but it was the one with the fiery head that got it first. Hangovers, Aren was quickly learning, were a b***h.

Cammi introduced herself and Kerri did likewise.  It wasn't long before a sentinel busted through the wall, and debris cast a cloud of smoke and dust that caused the native to sputter and cough as he tried to get a grasp of the scene before him.

“Mutants detected. Surrender. Resistance is futile.”

"What in the name of Napi?" Aren said, the use of his native language flavoring his words in a near musical way. Cammi ushered them way from the hole in the wall, darting down the hall as she dropped the articles of clothing onto the floor.

"Coming." He said, but it wasn't in English... and it didn't register with him that Kerri wouldn't understand Siksika. His feet carried him along the others, leaving the sentinel behind. Kerri shoved him, and he stumbled a few steps before righting himself. For one so normally agile, the sluggish feeling of waking up dehydrated, sick and with a headache wasn't a quick one to leave.

"What are these things?!" He asked, confused and growing increasingly impatient at the robot's insistence to maim the mutant kind. He dodged one beam, somersaulting on the ground and landed standing up with a bit of luck.

Kerri got hit pretty hard, and the native barely heard her voicing her frustration before she passed out. Beast quickly swiped her up and Aren's chocolate eyes widened. Smacking either side of his face, he forced himself to repress the curdling feeling that wanted so much to rise in his stomach. "Not good. Not good." The sentinel made a lunge toward him, but with a hop, a skip and a shrinking down by three feet, it missed. With the sound of popping joints, he returned to his normal size, grinning at it. "Midget mutant.

Even hungover, the native would rarely find a moment when he didn't have his humor.   But, thankfully with all the adrenaline from the fight, Aren's hangover barely lingered, and it'd be obvious for those who had seen him earlier that morning.  There had been few jokes to be heard then.

As everyone worked together, eventually they found themselves no longer under attack, but facing the destruction of their campus and injuries of those who'd done the good fight. "Arcus, you alright?" He asked via his comm... unsure of just where she'd disappeared to.  "I'm going to look for my team mates... make sure they didn't get hurt. Feel free to join me when you catch sight of me."

He needed to find the Omega queen, let her know about her second in command, and how Beast had carted her off to the infirmary. "Nitsiiksipikkssi" Aren said into the comm, still transmitting to Cammi. Really the native doubted she'd understand that he'd just voiced his concern over his team. English and Siksika often blurred for him, and in times of stress he forgot altogether to differentiate the two.

The size shifter walked around, taking in the damage and looking for people to help.. and found the floramancer hovering over Narcissa's body. His heart sank into his stomach - never one to take the injury of a friend lightly. Within seconds - he hadn't been sure if he'd been running or not -  Aren searched Narcissa's injuries with a scrutinizing eye. Even from his position, she radiated heat.  "Ki -" He stopped himself, and decided to use her codename instead, refusing to taint her nickname with this horrible incident. "Solaris." It was possibly the first time he'd ever actually used it, though given her current state, he doubted she'd take note of that.

"ótsskoinaattsiwa..." He used a name from his own language, calling her 'green one';  Farren had been inching closer to the injuries. "Given your ability and its tendency in the natural world to shy away from something that will burn... I don't think that's a wise decision."

Kneeling down next to the Omega leader, he shrugged out of the tux jacket that was already ruined from rolling around in the dirt.  His hands were gentle as he touched her and wrapped her up so that he might be able to lift her without so much injury to himself. It burned, but he sucked in a breath and pressed on. Luckily, the coat swallowed her form, and he doubled up some of the folds beneath her so her blood might have a harder time reaching his flesh.

"If you'll go get me some oven mitts..." He said, half-joking. It really wouldn't be a bad idea. "Narcissa, I'm going to lift you... don't move around too much, or you'll burn me." More so than you already will. But, as she'd told him several hundred times, if he was willing to play with fire, he was going to get burned.  "Aaksikinniiwa." Because, like he'd said... it was going to be a very warm walk.

Searching Farren, he sucked in a breath. "Try and find a telekinetic... handsfree transportation would be much easier on her and myself." He asked kindly, thinking of only one he knew on the student teams. Jean and Rachel weren't around... or at least, he'd not seen them. And the one student... was she even out of the infirmary herself yet?

Droplets of blood singed his the dress shirt he'd been wearing, and he winced inwardly at the price it was going to be to replace Dom's designer suit. As much as he would have preferred to be a form of shelter to her and cradle her close so as to keep her from exposure to anything else that was potentially harmful, Aren carried her, holding her as though she were a pariah - straight out in front of him. And even with as little as she weighed, the awkward delivery and display of sheer strength forced him to grow two feet in height to be able to handle the walk with fire. Gritting his teeth as she unintentionally seared him as though he were a sirloin in a hot pan, he made long strides so as to quicken the pace.

It was going to be a long journey to the infirmary, and while he'd been successful in not getting injured... after toting the blond around, he was going to need to be patched up as well. Just... after everyone else had been.

Not for the first time, he thanked Old Man Napi for the durability that came with stretching and shrinking so often as he hurriedly shuffled to find some help. While it didn't entirely fix the problem... he guessed he was far better off than someone who had more chlorophyll than protein.

As he walked, he eventually couldn't see where his feet were carrying him, each step a great measure of his strength. Flesh hung from his hands, charred and hardened as it curled into its death - no matter how careful he'd been to wrap her and to avoid her blood, getting too close easily melted through layers. Swallowing, his chocolate eyes averted from his wounds, knowing that even the strongest of stomachs would not be able to handle the sight in correlation to the smell of burning skin. "Napi, Narcissa." He tried for a grin as he set her down on a patch of grass, little tufts of smoke showing that she was quickly killing off the vegetation. "I need to take a small break..." Else he'd lose the use of his hands permanently. Already he was sure that a few of his nerves were exposed - the air that gently breezed over the wounds felt like a demon's breath.

Hopefully, Farren would return with someone to move her a bit more easily.

OMEGA: ............

User ImageGideon knew after telling Logan to go make sure Bella was okay that the Wolverine didn't like being ordered around. It was one of the things they had in common, the only person he would of followed orders from with out a second thought was no longer his leader.

After leaping from the roof he had seen the impressive post display of the electrokinetic on the sentinel that allowed Renisaunce man his opening to take the thing down. The first Sentinel had gone down simply enough though he hadn't expected it's partner to so quickly adjust to his presence. That's battle though it doesn't ever really go as planned 98 percent of the time.

Untangling from the hand was simple enough. Raine aka Glitter his former teammate was certainly not amused by his bad pun. It was Veritas' sad attempt at, he wasn't even sure what really or what actually made him say that. Maybe he was slipping back into his ingrained adaptive training from HYDRA. "Yeah yeah. Just trying to get you all to lighten up some. All serious and such is my stick find your own." Gideon said as Aurilie and Felix zoomed to a halt after darting around the field. Again he wasn't sure where the comment came from. His personal life was currently so chaotic that it was actually making Gid question if he was actually himself at present.

One didn't need hightened hearing to hear the Elephant charge. Turning in time to see the Elephant tear the sentinel a new one but not badly enough to escape a close range blast from the beam from it's remaining hand. Veritas had seen what it did to the terrain further away then the pacaderm was currently, it was a wonder just how much damage the body of the elephant would actually take. He was just about to rush the downed robot when Allegra pretty much shoved Kat's badly hurt unconsious form into his arms. It was a lucky thing he had the presence of mind to retract his claws just in time adamantium claws can cause lots of damage even unintentionally.

Veritas couldn't help the growl that escaped his throat as he was ordered by the blonde telekenetic to take Kat down to the infirmary. Great now he was being down graded to transporting a person he currently at present couldn't stand. Can anyone blame him the girl just the other night pushed him to the point where he literally almost killed her. And here she was helpless in his arms.

He set off into the building and to the elevator to get her to the medbay quick. Gideon even yelled in his mind to tell Emma to have Hank prep a bed and get Elixir ready there was a bleeder on the way.

Once in the medbay Hank took Kat from him and placed her on the bed. A large blue furred hand landed on his shoulder as he was leaving. "Gideon my boy I need to to stay here." Beast said in an impressively calm and together mannor for the crazyness that was happening above ground. Gideon looked at him puzzled, after all he wasn't any use in the medical department. That was for people like Thomas or Lillian. Gideon was made for destruction not healing others. Plus his ears were still ringing from the attack Bella threw that Gideon knew her powers well enough to know that sentinel was down for the count. Even if their relationship was pretty much nonexistent on her part it didn't stop Gideon from wanting to go see how she was. His heart felt the sadly now all to familiar pain that accompanied thoughts of the woman who holds his heart.

"Look when she wakes up we don't know what state she will be in. You have had similar training and can easily handle her if need be. I along with the others will be busy with the other wounded we are getting reports in about. I can't spare anyone to keep an eye on her. So I need you to do me that favor. The fighting is done up there apparently the last sentinel was dropped moments ago." Beast said using logic to get the boy to see his reasoning.

If it had been someone other then Hank asking him to stay and watch over Kat he would of ignored them and headed back up. Surely he was of better use running the perimeter making sure no other hostiles snuck in during the confusion. "Fine. But only because it's you asking. And make sure Forge goes over the bots carefully for bugs and other tech means of infiltration. And run a sweep on the mantion computers." Gideon had no clue who sent those robots. If it was HYDRA there would be devices that would activate and set to infultrate the systems of the mansion. Robots were enxpendable and great trojon horses at times as most people think when they drop the robot that is the end of it. So they don't always seeing the tiny intruders that worm into their information systems till it is to late. He may not be a tech wiz but espionage was something he knew well.

With what that said Gideon waited to the side of the room Kat was being worked on. An annoyed look firmly in place on his face.

Narcissa remained quiet, perceptive blue eyes slipping over the remains of their little warzone as her team moved about…Apparently doing their best to follow orders. They had scrapes and bruises…But considering the damage around them—They would be fine. It was a small consolation…

Focusing on the task at hand allowed her to ignore the twisting agony in her midsection. Her wounds weren’t as bad as they could have been, were she a little more human…But that didn’t mean she couldn’t feel it. She rest back on her haunches, not daring to pull her arm away from her stomach. Her shoulder bled just as profusely—The liquid a brightt orange shade. It sizzled as it went through the material of her jogging pants, the after burn of her light having left the vegetation in her vicinity little more than ash.

She wanted to curl in on herself and nurse her injuries…Let the sun come, and take them away…But the driving need to remain vigilant, just in case the attacks weren’t over kept her eyes wary and her ears keen. The sun goddess listened carefully through the disarmingly gentle breeze, waiting for the sounds of thrusters moving their panels to slow descent…For idle, mechanical threats from over grown toy soldiers.

These things never came, much to her surprise.

Were she the enemy…She would have sent wave after wave of the Sentinels. Enough that sheer numbers crushed them. X-Men tended to react fiercely...Become twice as resilient when threatened. Perhaps there were only so many, and they’d laid waste to the majority of them…

She exhaled sharply through her nose, wincing as the action made her head throb. Flaxen hair fell around her shoulders in waves that flowed slowly—Moving of their own accord. The air rippled around her in very visible waves. Like heat rising from a blacktop in the middle of the summer. The Red Queen had dropped from the sky like a stone…But that didn’t mean she was completely down for the count. She remained ready, waiting for anything else.

Elixir would get to her when he could. If he could. Warren’s blood was good at healing others, but her body rejected it just the same as it rejected everything else. Her wounds would close in a few hours on their own. Glancing towards the sky where abit of cloud cover had hidden the sun, she sighed. More than a few hours…A lot more. She healed faster than the average human because of the rate in which her cells sloughed off and regenerated, but not so quickly that it aided her in an emergent situation. No doubt some of the more moronic Alpha’s would need assistance from Warren and Joshua far more urgently than she did.

She wasn’t in mortal danger; at least, she didn’t think so… It just hurt. Everywhere. Bullet wounds had a particular flavor to them…Almost what she imagined ‘hot coals’ would feel like.

A voice caught her attention, and the sudden presence of someone she didn’t know well breaching her personal space startled her. Blue eyes flared hellfire white as she rocked to the side, reflexively snapping her body away from Farren. She hissed as she did so, letting go of the diagonal wound that marred her abdomen to catch herself from falling. Burning blood fell, turning the right leg of her tear away pants into shorts as it ate through the fabric. It was heat resistant, sure…But not the way the rest of her clothes were. Gym clothes were easily ruined, and therefore a waste of time to treat.

Or so she’d thought.

“Don’t touch me.”, she snarled out venomously, wondering if the plant manipulator had lost her damn mind. She appreciated the sentiment, somewhere deep down inside…But Narcissa knew how hot she was. Didn’t Ivy see that everything around her was dead? She could restrain most of the heat from small wounds, small punctures…But the metal shards had torn into her flesh like a cheese grater before melting. It was like poking holes in a nuclear reactor. The girl asked her to tone down the heat after the all clear was given, and the Sun Goddess shook her head. “It’s not me. It’s the blood. I can’t.”

Too much light, and nowhere for it to go. The temperature of any unbroken skin was moderate enough… But the more severe injuries simply radiated. Her tone was sharp, but easily tired. Exhausted. Her mind was on other things…She wanted to know where the rest of her bloody damn Omega’s were. Kerrigan. Orchid. She hadn’t really heard from any of them. “I’m fine. Stay the hell away from me, for your own good.”

Farren seemed to have some sort of hearing impairment, because she came closer still—Turning her hands to something that looked like wood. The small blonde recoiled and shrank back from her as she neared. Narcissa didn’t know anything about wood or red bark trees…All she knew, was what her ability tended to do.

“Stop. Ivy. You can’t—“

Her head turned to the side as she heard Aren speaking, so focused on back peddling from the floramancer that she hadn’t felt him approach. She did notice that he called her by her codename—And not the favored nick name that she’d heard so often, but she was too tense, shoulders squared as she inched slowly away.

They were too close, both of them—Too damn close.

She started to relax when the size shifter told Farren to stand down—But that same coil of apprehension returned when he knelt down next to her, starting to cover her with his jacket. She hissed as the material touched open wounds, but she didn’t quite realize what he was doing until he requested a pair of oven mitts. White eyes widened, turning round for a moment. He wasn’t that stupid, was he?

“Bloody hell Aquene, don’t you dare—You’re just as bad off as she is!”, she spoke, her voice rising in pitch…It was a strange sound coming from the Omega Leader. Panic. She shook her blonde head, trying to push herself away from them, kicking at Aren’s knees. But every motion sent a searing wave of something unnamable through her. Gentle as Aren was, it was all she could do, not to scream. “That’s an order—Back off! Both of you!”

Of all times for her Omega’s to pull an Alpha and disobey…

She froze as the native American managed to lift her, breath coming in short gasps. It wasn’t that she needed to breathe…It was terror settling in. The Red Queen outwardly feared nothing. Nothing but this…Destroying those she was supposed to protect, because her ability made her violent and damning. It didn’t know friend from foe. Everything burned, all the same.

Narcissa stared at Aren…The words to find a telekinetic lost on her. Everything was lost to her, except the sudden need to control her power. Her brow creased in concentration, the rank scent of burning flesh causing her eyes to steam against her will… “Put me down Aren. I need you to stop what you’re doing, and put me down.”

Her voice was strained…Fighting for something that she could do nothing about. Not without causing her Omega more harm. Aren was literally thrice her size. Probably bigger, after his growth spurt. It was the feeling of being trapped, held against her will—Forced to hurt someone that she should be defending that ate at her.

“Please.”

She was visibly shaking by the time he released her, eyes glued to his hands. Or to what was left of them. Narcissa wanted to heave…She could feel her throat tightening…But she swallowed it, his forced grin causing something inside her to break. How could he smile? Couldn’t he see what she’d done to him?

“Don’t touch me...”, she wheezed out through clenched teeth, allowing her body moments of weakness to lay down where he’d left her, the grass itching her cheek as it turned brown and withered…Everything that came into contact with her eventually withered and died…”Don’t ever touch me.” Never again.

She reached for her half melted comm unit…Not for the first time, terribly grateful that they could take being near destroyed before they stopped working. Pressing in the button on the side, white eyes faded to an unusual blue as she stared at it…Trying to come up with an alternate solution to this masochism. Who was just damaged and durable enough to handle this? “Roland.”

“I’m near the back entrance of the school. By the fountain.”, she announced her location, trying her best to hide…Everything. She was the Red Queen…She didn’t cry—She was critical and spent her time thinking. She did not feel. “I need your assistance. Now.”

There was a sense of urgency in her tone that would be new to anyone that heard the call. Releasing the comm unit she remained silent, staring at Aquene once again…At times without blinking. She didn’t know what to think of him, what to make of what he’d done…Why would he risk so much for her—Without need? She was sure that one of the healers could repair the damage but feeling his hands burn—Watching them crack, peel, and blacken as they touched her…

That was something she would not forget.

When Roland arrived she seemed to focus, forcing herself to to sit up, remembering why she’d called him in the first place. There was a simple solution to all of this.

“I can’t shut my ability off. As you can see… My blood is just about as hot as a blast. I think your exoskeleton should be able to protect you long enough to…”, her eyes flickered to Aren…Somehow, knowing he would hate what came out of her mouth next. “Long enough to knock me out.”

“I will cool to tolerable levels once I’m unconscious…Choose from any way you like. A solid strike to the temple has worked before…I could see a hard punch to the lower jaw having a similar effect. I don’t need to breathe, so cutting off my oxygen supply won’t work.”

Her voice was deadpan as she spoke, entirely without emotion…Almost as if they were discussing the weather. At this point…She simply didn’t care. She just wanted it to be done with...She didn’t want to inadvertently cripple anyone else. Her head lowered as her eyes closed, resigned. “Don’t linger too close until I’m out.”

A smile couldn't help but cross her features as she worked with the others in the group to take down the sentinel that had been plaguing them. It was her power that had dealt the final blow - the thought hadn't escaped her that she'd somehow actually been helpful in this fight. And somehow, even if just for a moment, she forgot all the drama from the previous night, and wasn't thinking about all the drama that was likely to follow.

And then, he decided to grace them with his presence.

Felix arrived with Aurelie on his back, the blonde giving her enough of a smile and a wave that it made having to see Felix, and all the emotions that came with that, bearable for the moment. Besides, they had things to take care of. Problem was, again, Raine was caught at a crossroads - they had their situation relatively under control, and any lingering threats in the area were being handled by those with way more experience than she had. Not to mention, the awful sound coming from somewhere on the grounds caused her temples to throb uncomfortably.

Still in elephant form, Katarina assaulted another sentinel, using her tusks to charge and rip away part of its midsection. Unfortunately, there was nothing the firefly could do to keep the machine from retaliating, sending a blast right into the girl's flank. Hazel eyes saw her body go limp, clearly injured from her part in their holding off the sentinel attack, before darting back to the sentinel that was still locked on to her as a target. She didn't have to see Aurelie to know that the girl's body being lifted from the ground was her handiwork, directing Gideon to get her out of harm's way before launching another unseen attack at the machine.

It was an impressive display.

Leo, true to form, leapt into action. It didn't take a genius to note that there was more emotion behind his actions than just anger at their attacking the Academy. Raine wanted to know more about his past - just how did he know about these sentinels, and why was he already in their databases of mutants when so many of them went unrecognized?

His attack on the sentinel was brutal, though he finally managed to rip something out of its head and dismount the machine. Shadowcat approached him, asking if he needed medical attention, which he was quick to brush off before turning to look back at them. She nodded, slowly, as he instructed them to go see if anyone else needed help around the grounds, commending their work.

"A-alright, if you're sure your ok," she responded, clearly hesitant to just up and leave him when he'd just bashed the living crap out of a sentinel with his bare hands. Bella called for the injured to report to the Infirmary, Thomas asking if there was anyone in more immediate need of medical attention in the field. Instinctively, her eyes searched for Gideon making sure that he was already en route to the Infirmary with Katarina - there was no point calling him here at that point.

As the adrenaline started to wear off from their fight, she realized just how much like death she was feeling between the hangover and lingering pains from getting blasted around and supercharged. Stooping to put her head between her knees for a moment, fingers swam through brown curls as she pulled her hair back from her face, eyes closing tightly for a moment until she could be sure that she wasn't going to get sick again. She really didn't need to embarrass herself any more at the moment.

It was only then that she cast Leo one last glance to make sure that he was really alright before heading to the grounds to see where else she might be able to be of assistance. Anything remaining in this area was either outside her skill level, or simply something she didn't have the heart, or stomach, to deal with at the moment.

(( Crappy ending to a kind of crappy post. Sorry it took so long! ))

The trio of girls seamlessly fell into step with one another as the faced the sentinel, Jinx in particular offering some insight into what they were up against. She was glad that they had some with her - Tara had a lot of firepower, but it was clear that she needed all the help she could get against these machines. Maybe it was the fact that they thought a like, or maybe it was because she had absorbed Tara's power, but Lillian easily took to her powers. Jinx too proved her worth, shooting green bolts towards the machine, though the results were not necessarily what the girl had intended.

In fact, it wasn't a result that any of them expected. It was like a switch was turned from "capture" to "kill," and the stakes were suddenly exponentially higher.

Another bolt hit the machine right into the chest, causing the armor per the circuitry to weaken for Lillian to launch another attack. It was a good thing the power mimic listened to her called out warning, slamming a boulder she had been controlling into the machine's hand, causing the beam that had been charging to miss its mark. She formed a crude spike with the remaining boulder, Tara slamming two boulders into either side of the sentinel's head to stun it for a moment, and allow her roommate to finish her handiwork.

Letting out a triumphant "whoop" as Lillian's spike lodged itself into the machine's chest, she didn't have to be told twice what she should do next. Taking hold of one boulder she'd been controlling, the other dropping to the ground, her entire concentration moving to hammering the spike deeper into the sentinel's chest. Raising the boulder, she released a frustrated yell, driving both hands downwards again to push the rock even deeper.

Her chest rose and fell in time with her accelerated breathing, one hand moving up to brush her hair from her face as brown eyes watched the sentinel shut down.

They'd won.

"Nice work, ladies." Moving over to Lillian, she checked the girl over to make sure she was alright before turning her attentions to Emlen. The girl's eyes were on the sky, clearly looking for more trouble on the horizon. But, slowly, the reports were flooding in from elsewhere around the Academy that they were gaining the upper hand. It even seemed like they had temporarily neutralized the threat, Bella calling for those that had been injured to get themselves to the Infirmary and get checked out.

"How you guys feeling? Anyone need me to call Tommy to bandage your boo-boos?" Her tone was joking, but she again looked them over to make sure she hadn't missed anything the first time around. When it was clear that they'd been lucky enough to handle the situation on their own without major injury, her next thought was that they were going to do now.

"Well, now that that's over with, I think we should get back to normal lives. checking and making sure that the injured are getting down to the infirmary…Lillian, maybe you should stick with me in case they need my power to clear some of the rubble laying around. Emlen[/n], you might want to catch up with some of the other Omegas, in case they need help with anything."

It was as good a plan as any.

Omega - The Grounds to the Collapsed Hall - This Did Not Go Well

User Image
Maddy glanced back at Rave and gave a fleeting smile. Honestly, what would she do without giant robots, or the Brotherhood, or whatever else was trying to destroy the Xavier School in her life? "Yeah, 'cause shaking down the mafia back home was wicked boring compared to this." Then again, the Italians didn't tend to have laser hands. She guessed that counted for something.

Still, the battlefield was a s**t-show. More of the newer students continued to trickle in, and it seemed like Leion was trying to handle them. That, at least, was good, but somehow did not make the girl feel any better about this all. Hopefully they would be able to throw themselves at one of these things hard enough to do some damage. One of them, at least, seemed to be attempted to do that, quite literally. Did she know him? She couldn't remember. She thought his name was Graviman, or something like that. She'd learn it later. She hated names. Well, she'd learn it so long as he didn't get smacked out of the sky.

That moment, however, never came. Maddy instinctively ducked once more as a flash of crimson light broke into her vision-- then another and another. From behind her energy blasts raced threw the air , slamming into Sentinel after Sentinel. Cyclops was back in the game. The machines dropped one by one, quick as the blasts came. They tour through their metal more effectively than any psi-blade or even solar blast from Narcissa could. This was one of the few moments in which Psyche would ever remember why Scott Summers had been left in charge of Xavier's team and children. Still, she couldn't help but wonder why the hell he didn't pull that attack in the first place. It would have spared them a lot of time and medical supplies afterwards.

Maddy surveyed the grounds quickly before relaxing and turning back to the others. Despite the ferocity of that attack, Summers was still pretty badly injured. She heard Narcissa telling the others to help him to Infirmary, but her made was busy surverying her team leader's own injuries. A band-aid was an understatement. Maddy didn't say anything, but she met the other's eyes with a weary expression.

With that, she turned and sprinted off in the opposite direction to try and find some of the others. There were Alphas everywhere, but a few of her own Omegas hadn't seemed to make it to the same field as her. Maybe she had recognized some voices over the communicator, though. Roland, Aren, and Knoxx, definitely.

She quickly found one of those three, and a surprise visitor. She slowed down to a jog, and came up behind Hank McCoy, carrying Kerrigan in his arms. She laid a hand on his should as he walked to the mansion with her. "'Sup Fuzzball," she said solemnly.

The Beast cocked his head direction and gave a soft smile. It was about as much as could be expected given the circumstances. "Madison. Emma made a point to inform me that you had returned this morning," he said, not slowing his rather rapid pace for her.

"Yeah, I had been meaning to come down to the lab to see you, but, uh..." Maddy said, trailing off. "Hey, uh, do you need help with Kerri, or...?"

"I believe I can handle it. Not to say that you are not adequately equipped to assist, of course," Beast said, walking through the doorway to the mansion, who's door had apparently been blown off during the fight but one thing or another.

"Right. Yeah. Of course. I'll just, uh... go find the others," Maddy mumbled as she turned back to charred remains of the grounds.

She really had meant to go visit him.

She saw him spring over some fallen beams in the hallway before rounding a corner. There, however, he saw Colossus, still in his metallic form, tearing through the downed corridor to her left. "Ah crap," she muttered, knowing immediately what had happened.

"Who?" she asked simply as two psi-blades formed in her either hand. Immediately she began slicing at the thick beams of wood on the other side of the gigantic Russian.

"I do not know. The girl, Lydia, I believe. Omega." He picked up a beam that she had cut in two and threw it out of an already broken window, The two of them stepped over it, before he lifted a still intact section of the flow above them, equipped with a ruined desk that had once sat in somebody's room. Maddy quickly slipped under it, without either of them saying a thing about it. "Also, a friend of her's. Emma tells me her name is Aspen."

After another few minutes of tearing and climbing through the rubble-- with Rasputin tearing threw it and Madison merely slipping through the cracks when she could-- Peter saw the leg before Maddy did. Whichever of the girls this one was, she was completely buried in the rubble of an entire floor.

This was not going to be fun.

Omega, Location: Outside/Fountain
Well, never saw this coming. s**t is gonna burn...

User ImageIt appeared that the battle had soon come to end. Kat's rampage as an elephant was ended by the sudden burst of light hitting her side. She reverted back to her slender female form, which was then whisked away from his proximity. He didn't have much time to react, likely from a telekinetic's touch. He assumed this because he had not noticed Felix's blur come over the body to carry her to safety. He took some time to take a deep breath as he felt the calm sweep over him. There were two great feelings he got from a fight: the rush of the battle, and the calm afterwards. Raising his communicator, he was about to make a general hail out to anyone that required assistance making it back to the Medical Center when the voice of Narcissa reverberated from the microphone. The urgency in her voice made him double his efforts as he sprinted towards the fountain out back. Luckily his armored form gave him a boost in speed, the increase in strength was not just in his arms, but in his legs as well. He could run pretty fast when he needed to.

He arrived quick to see a hell of a sight. Aren was covered in severe burns, and Narcissa was surrounded by a circle of dead burnt grass. She was bleeding, a lot. The image evoked old memories, filled with blood and screaming. Days of screaming, as he was bound and forced to watch quite possibly the most horrifying events of his young life.

User Image"Merde madame." he was able to get out, the twisted nostalgia over taking him for a moment. The golden orbs that lay within his skull flickered and dimmed as he felt faint. Words around him felt like an echo as he heard Naricssa's request that she be knocked out. It was apparently the only way to get her to the Med Bay safely, lest she bleed out. The irony was not missed as she herself described the methods by which he could render her unconscious. He remembered the conversations of the different types of torture they could administer on his Sonja. The pain of which echoed within him as he steeled himself for what he was about to do.

Memories or not, this woman was not his Sonja. And she never would be.

Reforming to their traditional golden glow, he spoke to Aren without looking at him, "I don't like this any more than you do, but if it's the only way then we have no choice. I doubt my armor could handle that heat for long, looking at you I'd have to re-affirm that analysis."

Raising a hand to his boss, he stopped her further from trying to tell him what to do, "No offense, but a hit to the head in my armored form may do more harm than good. I'm terribly accurate in where I hit people, and I've been known to break bones rather quickly. A simple blood choke may be what is required here. Cut off the blood to the brain, knocks you out in 5 seconds. Painless, and easy." he figured the explanation would be useful for both of them. Narcissa so she would be able to understand what was happening, Aren so he would understand he wasn’t actually going to hit her.

Before approaching her, he asked once again in a clinical tone, “Now are you sure this is what you want me to do?”

Gunshots fired, pierced the air with a deafening series of booms, and Blake gritted his teeth as the two men at the top of the observatory tower used artillary and high ground to their advantage. He held tight to Bella, more concerned about how she trembled than he was the sentinels. This time, the junior teams were better armed.

As he asked her to go and check on the kids inside, Bella pulled from him as though he were made of fire. Cerulean eyes remained soft as he kept sight of her, catching the expression akin to a beaten dog. She voiced her argument against leaving her team, and while he wasn't there... the cowboy could swear there was more to the story. Whatever had happened since he'd left... it'd taken a toll on her, and she'd been weary when he'd taken the recruitment position - unsure if she should be a leader instead of a second in command.

Thomas spoke up then, filling in a lot of the gaps that he'd missed. She'd been taken out because she was injured... none of it was her fault. He rose an eyebrow at her,  more stern than she was likely used to.  "Sounds like none of that was your fault. And I'd venture to guess that, like you those people who were injured found themselves that way, knowing the consequences of their actions before they went through with it." Her leading them wouldn't have made a difference. "And.. I'll bet if I asked them, they will say that they'd do it again, regardless of orders if it was the best plan of action in their minds.

Unwilling to give up, to let her be hurt by his suggestion to go to a different front of the battlefield, Blake stepped forward, eyes still soft for his best friend. "You aren't running away... your skills are better utilized elsewhere. Just for now." He stressed the last, emphasizing that he still believed in her ability to lead the team. "Consider it my being backwards, egotistical... however you want to look at it, doll. I just don't want to lose you to sentinels, and I have a really good assessment of what's going on in that pretty little head of yours." The sight of them likely brought back memories of her best friend's mother... the destruction of Genosha. And with the added signs of post traumatic stress from her latest endeavor with the teams, she was more a hazard to herself out in the frontline.

"Sometimes, the greatest strength, is knowing when it's too much. Not because you're incapable, but because it stirs too many memories for you to think straight. You're showing your team it's okay not to be completely perfect."  He really hoped she'd listen to what he was saying, not take it as him patronizing her - because out of everyone in the academy, he probably believed in her the most. His faith in her person remained unwavering.  "No one expects you to be what they can't."

"Whatever happened last month can't be changed. But don't kill yourself trying to prove it can be forgotten." Especially because it couldn't. Nothing so horrible could ever be erased; it was foolhardy to think it could.

There wasn't much time after for her to move inside where she'd be safe, for Eli had drained himself and missed that a sentinel had been aiming for him. Everyone realized it too late. She rushed to place her shirt underneath his head, and Blake surged forward, standing between Railgun and the sentinel in the cloud of dust, acting more as a shield.

Orders were made, Isabella fell into the role as she would have years ago - abandoning her own personal drama for the good of her team mate. But she seemed colder, more crisp... Wolverine bade her to stand down, but she didn't seem to hear it in the midst of everything else, and the sound she made was ungodly - completely other than human. Logan ordered everyone to pull back from his position, but Blake refused to retreat - couldn't, even if it meant he could lose his hearing.

Within seconds the sentinel she'd screamed at was gone, and he sighed with relief. This time, no one other than the other side had gotten hurt - her shields were better, aim more precise. And the sound... hideous as it might have been, didn't hurt those she didn't want to when she could keep it controlled.

Thomas asked for him to check on the Alpha leader, and the cowboy nodded - knowing just what the reasoning was for that.

Teeming as she was, he knew he should have left her alone, but it wasn't something he could do. "Bells..." He trailed off; their conversation had been far from over. She had led the team... but at what cost to herself was she doing this? "Great job." It was all he could say that would reiterate what he'd been trying to tell her before - that he still believed in her. She just wasn't ready for this, not with everything else in her life tumulting out of control.

Codename: AegisTeam: OmegaLocation: Overlook to InfirmaryThinking: I'll do what i can

Michael lifted the rifle vertically and held it to the side so the scope wouldn't loosen being pressed against his body. "Nice work," He said, raising his hand for a fist bump to Gabriel., "Archangel's huh? Now all we need is a Raphael and Uriel." Michael said giving a soft forced chuckle. The 25lbs rifle started getting heavy being held up with arm, so he leveled it, dropped the magazine and ejected the round in the chamber. "Let me know when you clean this baby, I'll help." The photokinetic offered, considering he was the one who shot it this time. Moving over to his bag he broke down his rifle and put it away in his rifle bag and pulled out some Sour Patch Kids© and tossed 'em to his spotter. He wanted to make sure his blood sugar was stable and to ensure he would be able to move around without passing out.

He rushed his way to the arms room and dropped off his bag and proceeded his way to the infirmary. Psylocke was there, with a couple of children who had gotten hurt. It worried Michael immediately and he headed over to her. "What happened?" He asked, "Is Beth okay?" His voice full of concern. Two of the boys had bloody noses and the other had scratched up knees and elbows.

Psylocke finished putting a large square band-aid on the boy with scraped knees and turned to Michael, a glower on her face. "Your child is quite the trouble maker. She did this to the boys. They only wanted to see her stuffed tiger bear and she attacked them. Shoving over this one, head butting him, and then punching him in the nose." She nodded to each of the boys in order of explanation of what Beth did to them. Her tone was authoritative, as she had the right to, she was his superior. "You may have to do something about that Mister Brusch." She said and turned back to the child she was tending to.

Michael knew Elizabeth would never say no to showing off her tiger bear. He had noted the three kids look at each other when Psylocke explained the situation, then nodded in unison looking at the photokinetic. Dealing with Beth, he knew the kids weren't telling the whole truth. Elizabeth would love to share playing with Hobbes, and Michael assumed the three had been picking on his daughter, and attempted to take Hobbes with out asking. He leaned in to the three of them. "Next time you three bully my daughter, I'll let you see the many ways I can end your existence." The three boys turned ghostly pale and Psylocke created one of her energy weapons as he finished his statement, preparing to defend them. Michael continued walking and gave an off hand wave, "I'm kidding. But they're lying to you about what happened." He said smirking, he was proud of his daughter for sticking up for herself.

Making his way to Angel, he offered to help and they told him to go around cleaning the wounds on those who came in, nothing more, nothing less. Michael took his orders well and quickly started his task.

Isabella heard Thomas’ apology…But her ability to respond to it was lost. What was he apologizing for? Telling her the truth? That she didn’t belong on the field? She merely looked away, stomach churning from the accusations and orders that seemed to fall from her friend’s mouths like rain from the sky.

“Injured or not…They were there—And I wasn’t.”, the songstress responded to Thomas bitterly, her gaze shifting back to the battlefield. This wasn’t the time or place for this discussion… To be told that she’d be better of hiding while the rest of the Alpha’s gave sweat and blood made her feel like a little princess that should be locked away in a tower. Useless.

Part of her wondered if they’d simply been out of the line of fire too long. There was no excuse for a leader to leave her subordinates fighting. Not injury, not death.

How was it that her skills could be utilized elsewhere? Just because she was particularly good at mothering others—Or that her voice could be incredibly calming when needed…Didn’t mean she was better suited to the sidelines. She wouldn’t be able to handle watching the Alpha’s fight and not stand with them. No matter the cost.

She ran her hand through her hair when Blake seemed to put the pieces together, her action a sign of discomfort. Isabella didn’t like talking about the mall. “It’s not about fault. It wasn’t fair to them…To force them to make those decisions by themselves. If I were there…At the very least, they wouldn’t have had to make them alone.”

Yes, the Alpha’s could have come to the same conclusions. But she firmly believed that her presence could have caused things to turn out a little less gory. That fewer of them would have been so gravely injured. It killed her, that the Omega’s had faced off against Magneto—And had come out relatively unscathed, bar ONE injury. They’d been victorious.

And they were led by a flaming sociopath.

What did that say about her?

She gave Blake a strange look, an odd mixture of incredulity and disbelief. “That’s the point of being assigned to lead…Because we have a skill set, or an aptitude that others don’t. Or haven’t developed yet. I never wanted to lead anything—You know that. I do this, because others can’t. Or won't.”

The Siren stilled at the notion that the incident at the mall could ever be forgotten. Her expression fell, shattering into pieces as it hit the ground. There was no other way to describe the broken hearted gaze she leveled the Texan with… “I’m not trying to prove it can be forgotten. I just…Remember. I remember every day.”

“And I don’t want it to happen again.”
, Maybe he was partially right. Memories were killing her, slowly…Not just of the last fight. But every fight. Every revelation. Every villain that took the chance to prove what a wicked, hurtful place the world truly was. Her own father was the enemy. Had been the enemy, until Nathaniel Essex killed him in front of her.

In tearing the Sentinel apart…Isabella didn’t fear hurting her team mates with her attack, except from perhaps falling debris. They were all far enough away that the immediate fluctuations in her ability wouldn’t reach them. Thomas’ words about Eli were of little consolation… If she’d been less distracted—Facing the other way, this could have been avoided. Isabella well understood Logan’s concern… But she wasn’t a sixteen year old girl anymore. He ought to know, more than anyone, how her ability had developed over the years.

Her sonic scream would spare what she wished. And decimate everything else.

“It’s not over.”, Isabella responded to Dimitri quietly…Though her steely voice would carry to his ears without effort. She made no attempt to loosen her fists, knuckles white. “This is just….Intermission.”

“I don’t know what happened yet. Or why Sentinels were sent here. When I do…You’ll all know.”
, she continued on, addressing all of the Alpha’s in the area that might have heard the magma users question.

“As for clothes Dimitri…See the infirmary for something the way to your dorm is blacked. They’ll have spare sweats.”

If she couldn’t help with the wounded and injured…Or check on her Alpha's...She would at least answer questions. But it didn’t change the fact that anger boiled within her, barely contained fury eating at her insides. Such strong emotions occasionally gave others strength—Focus, a reason to fight… But Bella wasn’t one of them. It devoured her, like a very aggressive form of cancer.

She flinched away from Blake as he approached her, immediately taking two steps away. “Don’t stand so close to me.”

It wasn’t safe for him to be so near… And despite whatever else may be going on—She didn’t want to hurt him, or anyone else. Her ability was all about proximity…She could control what left her. But what emanated from her person was an entirely different story.

Bella glanced towards him at the compliment silent for a moment. Her endless jade eyes were dull. Missing their usual sparkle and shine. It was as if something was slowly sucking out everything that made her who she was…”Great job?”

“Ten minutes ago you were telling me to get off the field…That my skills were better used elsewhere.”

Her unfeeling eyes flickered towards the remains of the Sentinel, lips thinning as she glanced back towards the Texan. “I think they were utilized here just fine.”

The songstress couldn’t see what Blake had been trying to say. Emotions that she casually wore on her sleeve clouded everything—To the point where it all ran together. As furious as she was, seeing the Sentinels had left her feeling equally numb and empty.

Isabella was slowly learning it was easier to force herself feel nothing at all. Everything else only resulted in pain.

Sleet stumbled, but she didn't take her eyes off the scene in front of her, not daring to miss anything that happened next. She'd held up the Sentinel for the moment, but she could see the robot straining against its restraints, and the ice straining to keep it contained. It would be a matter of seconds before the robot broke free.

Then, she came aware of a strange, whining sound. It was just there within her hearing, but not defined enough for her to tell exactly what it was. It was like an annoying fly that was buzzing somewhere near, but you couldn't pinpoint where it was. Sleet didn't realize that that sound came from her team leader until Wolverine spoke over the comm, ordering everyone away from Siren. Warily, Sleet backed away, her eyes focused on the alpha leader. The next sound she heard terrified her. It was unlike anything she'd ever heard before, and definitely wasn't something she wanted to hear ever again. She watched as ice and Sentinel was ripped apart by Siren's power. Note to self: never get on team leader's bad side.

She waited for the ringing in her ears - courtesy of Siren's inhumane shriek - to disappear before moving closer towards the group, albeit somewhat hesitantly. Siren didn't exactly look like she wanted to be with other people at the moment. Playboy moved closer as well - or, at least, as close as he could get without burning the people around him, and voiced the very question she was thinking: "It's over?"

She didn't exactly get the answer she'd been hoping for, but it was better than some. Isabella's tone when she replied was crisp, dismissive. Even though she might not have intended it, Vee heard the underlying message: Go away. Vee walked off, with a parting nod to everyone gathered there, to see if anybody needed assistance to the Infirmary, but mainly just to be alone with her thoughts while she ... processed what had just happened. Now that the initial threat had been dealt with, and the adrenaline drained from her, Vee felt . . . well, drained. She needed water, having lost a great deal to freeze the Sentinel, but she didn't quite feel like going back to the mansion just yet. Back there was probably bustling with people running to tend the wounded and whatnot, and what Vee felt she needed most at the moment was calm.

User ImageAs she was told to help Cyclops to the infirmary, Peyton's earthy gaze was still taking the scene in. Each of the sentinels had fallen, one by one. And their immediate area looked clear. Others were told to go help the other groups if needed and her nose crinkled in a scowl momentarily, somewhat offended that she was being taken out of the fight. Surely three people weren't necessary to get one man to the infirmary. Had she not heard the numerous notifications coming in through her comm device, she may have been more inclined to disobey orders, but it looked like the battle was wrapped up anyway.

The blonde hurricane's eyes shifted to Graviton as he spoke up, though he seemed to be debating something in his head before actually making good on his offer. She'd recognized Daylia from last night but hadn't acknowledged her until now, and even then only with the slightest of smiles tugging at her lips aimed in the girl's direction as she headed for Graviton and Cyclops. The gravity manipulator didn't have any trouble carrying him by himself, and with his power it was no surprise. He flew off with the headmaster, leaving Peyton feeling incredibly... unnecessary. Seriously, not only could he handle it on his own, but he could leave her in the dust while he was at it.

After huffing a sigh, clearly not the happiest about her assigned task, she made her final decision. Out of obligation to her new friend, she would go along with him to the infirmary. As much as she thought her time would be just as well spent collecting her belongings that she'd been forced to abandon. Her hesitation cost her though and she didn't catch up with Anthony until she was actually in the infirmary. She was an elite athlete, but a tired one. Between her morning workout and the attack, she'd spent a good chunk of her energy.

Silently, she made her way to Anthony's side. She glanced over at him to see if he was as peeved as she was, but he actually looked to be leaning more towards content. "I guess newbies get booted at the first chance..." With her opinion voiced, she was content to stand quietly in place, arms crossed over her chest with a less than enthusiastic expression on her face. She was bumped by someone in passing, but didn't react to it in the least. The place was busied with tending to the wounded. Even if they weren't taking care of such an important task, an accidental bump was just that... an accident. She couldn't fault anyone for it, she would just get on with her day.

Not to mention, her mind was preoccupied with feeling underappreciated. "Oh, what about the boss?" It came out as an afterthought as she remembered their team leader's injuries. Her pouting quickly dissipated. She would have to be upset later, there were more important things to focus on right now. And focus she did, right on Anthony, with the expectation of him to take care of it. He'd taken lead getting Cyclops here, and she was happy to let him continue on in his leaderly role.

Ivy's hand heated like fast burning coal the closer she moved towards her team leader and she stared hard at the blonde's moving form, it finally dawning on the floramancer that Solaris was moving away from her the best she could in her injured and seated position. Ivy's fingers cracked and peeled, but the underbrush in her mind burned away and she closed her eyes, unable to resist the sweet savoring energy Solaris was secreting. With a deep breath, it was as if someone had replaced the candlelight in her head with 60 watt bulb. Until now Ivy hadn't realized how muddled she had been. She stood to her feet, slowly lowering the hand she had extended out towards her team leader, when the latter's tired but firm voice ordered her away. The floramancer shivered as she shifted away from Solaris, moving out of the range of the ambient energy. She silently thanked the PTB the two weren't roommates, Ivy could easily see herself becoming addicted to the rush.

Ivy heard an unusual word close by and turned her head, seeing Aren's approaching form addressing her, warning her about burning and then something about oven mitts. She shook her head, that idea was positively ridiculous, and Solaris was adamantly against any of them touching any part of her, gloved in fire resistant materials or not.

"Why don't we find the gravity manipulator? We make you lighter, it'll slow down the flow of your blood to the skin's surface, kinda like suspended animation" Ivy counter suggested to Solaris' notion to knock herself out. Violence wasn't the answer, especially when violence was what caused the problem in the first place. "Or the lava guy, Playboy, right? He would be able to move her without getting hurt." Ivy had turned to Aren with that option, hoping he would concur with her that there were better ideas than flat out knocking their Omega leader unconscious.

Ivy's suggestions were loss on the others, though, and she watched in frightful awe as Aren lifted Solaris off the ground, arms extended out as far as he could manage while still maintaining grips on their leader. The floramancer was mesmerized as drops Solaris' lifeforce fell to the earth, effectively scorching the ground in its wake like miniature comets. When Aren recommended the green-haired woman find a telekinetic, she nodded, eyes moving to the small figure in his arms. She waved her hand over a shrub she stood next to, the leaves in a small area morphing into a brighter green and more angular in shape. Ivy broke quite a few from the bush, and tucked them into Aren's breast pocket, which was high enough they wouldn't be burned by the transporting of their leader. With another wave of her hand, the bush returned to its normal, natural self.

"Aloe leaves," Ivy explained. "As soon as you put her down, crack the leaves and smear the clear liquid on your hands. It won't heal all the burnt skin you'll certainly end up with, but it'll ease the pain and drain the heat until you get them properly looked at. I'll go find that telekinetic and see how the rest of our Omega's are faring." With that Ivy turned and picked her way across the junk filled yard, around the side of the building and towards the front of the mansion to the courtyard where the majority of Alpha's had been congregating during the fight.

"At least I've chosen a side."

User ImageAspen was completely unphased by Orchid's point blank beating on her. First off, she had experienced far worse and second off, well, her ability just absorbed all the hits so while they did hurt for the fraction of a second, her ability nullified it almost instantly. She was more than capable of preventing Orchid from beating on her, she didn't lack the reflexes or fighting capabilities to counter her friend but they both knew it was for the better good. The more umph Orchid put into her beating the more umph Aspen would have when the time came requiring her to use it. Upon being inflicted with Orchid's final move the Russian girl burst out laughing. "You should," she said through a fit of laughter, "know better than to try to headbutt me. It's only going to hurt you in the end." Upon Orchid apologizing she continued to giggle some more before shrugging at her with smug expression. "No need to be sorry, you're the one who's going to be sorry later when you end up with a rank headache."

Coughing. A lot of coughing. Inhaling dust from debris was not a fun thing. Aspen found herself rather irritated that the corridor had decided to cave in on her and even more annoyed that it was likely due to the stupid robots that she'd been meaning to beat the s**t out of in the first place. They were just terrified of her, that's what she told herself in attempts to console herself. She hadn't gotten to crush any of them and was instead trapped under a s**t ton of caved in building. JUST GRRRREAT. If only Tony the Tiger could see her now! Not a single scratch lined her features, however, she was simply covered in dust and debris and soon enough the rather livid Russian slid the slab of concrete that barred her from standing away from her with disturbing ease. Taking a beating in Aspen's case was always a good thing. If anything her pride was far more hurt than that of her physical form, after all, she'd missed getting to show the sentinels a piece of her mind.

After sliding the slab of concrete off herself she proceeded to dust herself off only then the thought occurring to her that Orchid had been in the friggin' collapse as well. While the Russian was extremely militarian and generally did not go out of her way to watch out for others, her small semblance of a conscience reminded her that she shouldn't leave Orchid behind. Aspen was probably one of the only people in the world capable of accidentally forgetting about someone who had been beside her mere seconds before. Her ability to have concern for others was something she was still fostering and attempting to manifest. It wasn't that she was evil and didn't care about anyone else, it was simply that she had been desensitized severely to violence and the ability to care for others due to her past. It wasn't that she hated other people, it was simply that she always put herself first in order to keep on top. Charles Darwin's theory of Survival of the fittest was practically a religion where Aspen and her family were concerned.

The Russian began her search and rescue operation for Orchid, completely unphased by the fact she had just been crushed by rubble and debris. Aspen decided to start her operation by figuring out where the ******** Orchid was exactly. It was going to suck trying to find her underneath all the rubble so hopefully she was within earshot and conscious enough to answer. The red head then cupped her hands around her mouth and let out a bellow in the hopes Orchid would be able to hear and respond to her, "ORCHID! WHERE THE ******** ARE YOU!?" While the cave in had not hurt her in any way, she was pretty sure Orchid would be a lot more susceptible to the falling debris than she had been. Hopefully she hadn't been crushed to death or suffocated. People were so fragile, it was one reason why Aspen was so grateful for her particular ability. It was pretty damned hard to hurt her.

As she began wading through the rubble she noticed that Colossus and some other chick who she had no idea was were also present. They were probably here to try and help, not that Aspen really needed it. However, three of them were definitely bound to find Orchid faster than just Aspen by herself so she didn't turn away their unspoken offer to assist. "Glad you two," Aspen said as she decided to approach them, "decided to show up. Orchid's still trapped somewhere underneath all this rubble. I'm perfectly capable of getting her out by myself but it's a matter of finding where the ******** she is. She shouldn't be far from here, she wasn't that far ahead of me when we were walking down the hallway. I just shouted for her so hopefully she wasn't crushed or suffocated by rubble." All of Aspen's dialogue was delivered as if it were a normal, every day conversation. Not a hint of concern lined her tone or features as she explained the situation to both Colossus and Madison.

In fact, the thought of turning this entire episode of unfortunate events into a game occurred to the Russian. They could make bets on who could get Orchid out the fastest and who would find her first. Whoever found her first and got her out would cash in and have the satisfaction of being the winner. Something in Aspen's mind, however, told her that people would probably not appreciate the sentiment of turning said situation into a game. If someone's life was in danger, she'd been told in the past, it most definitely wasn't the time to start fooling around and turning things into games. Of course, a contest would certainly help to motivate Aspen, she knew that she was obligated to find Orchid regardless of whether she gained something from it or not. Luckily for Orchid, she was probably one of the only people (if not the only person in the complex) that Aspen wouldn't leave behind.

It seemed, however, that by the time she had slipped out of her slight daze (being hit in the head by a slab of concrete could do that to a person) that the people who had come to help had already found Orchid. Aspen made her way over. Had it been a game she most definitely would have lost, they'd managed to find her almost instantaneously: perhaps these kids did search and rescue a lot. As for Aspen, it wasn't really up her alley. Her expertise lied in kicking the s**t out of almost anything or anyone. Kinetic absorption was a useful ability indeed and it was one she wouldn't trade for any other. In the case of Orchid, it was unfortunate she did not possess the same ability as her since she would probably be far less hurt than she was now.

Either way she decided to make her way over to her companion and attempt to rouse her, "Morning, sunshine, time to wake up or we're taking you to that special place where they'll stick needles in you." For whatever reason most people (humans included) seemed to hate needles for whatever reason so Aspen decided to try it out and see if it would be motivation enough for Orchid to get up. The degree in which she was harmed had yet to be determined. With all the dust and s**t all over her it was pretty difficult to determine much just by looking at her. From what she could see, though, none of her limbs appeared to be mangled or bent in directions they weren't supposed to so perhaps she'd gotten lucky and hadn't broken anything. Of course, most people would take breaking something over being killed.
