Kingdom: Humility
Rank: 1st Princess
Location: Heading to the Dining Hall

User Image“I’m not so sure, m’love…”, Naedira responded softly, her elegant brow furrowing just slightly as her eyes seemed to distance themselves for a moment. The auburn haired half-fey had never felt…Inadequate before. But her ways and customs were far different than those that lived in Envy… What was Veritas thinking, placing Humility and Envy together? Though from what she knew of her betrothed… It wasn’t such a strange arrangement.

He seemed ever kind, though there was something behind it…Something she didn’t understand. For instance, when she’d brought up the Kingdom of Patience… She’d seen his anger, as she hadn’t seen in the Catacombs. There was so many layers to Altonair… She feared she may get lost peeling them back. Her lips curved teasingly, her next words both in jest—And just a little bit of potential truth. “The Prince is of Envy…Nothing will ever be enough.”

“But I thank you…”
, she continued on, gifting the girl one of her most disarming smiles—Sweetness tingeing the corners of her eyes. She appreciated Madelyne’s vote of confidence, especially because she used most of her convictions and good will for the benefit of her family… She kept little for herself.

Her hazel eyes glimmered as she sat down on a plush wooden bench at the foot of her four poster bed, watching the littlest Riley have her pick of her belongings—Her expression amused, doting. She was happy, overjoyed, to simply… Have the girl around. She knew she was being selfish with her… And perhaps that would fade with time… But the first princess of Humility just couldn’t…Let her out of her sight. Not just yet.

Not so soon. Not ever.

Naedira knew, and well understood that she was a grown woman… And could clearly protect herself. She’d done so all this time… But that didn’t mean that Naedira intended for her to have to do so ever again. She was her sister… Her darling, red haired little sister… All grown up—But by the goddess, alive. That had been her wish, a dream filled with false hope all these years…To have Madelyne was a gift.

The shield maiden of Humility would never let her go…Not again.

She smiled, seeing the gown her sister had chosen… She was right, they were, give or take, about the same size. Madelyne asked of her appearance, and the fey princess beamed in response—Finding her hesitance utterly charming. “You look like a little Queen.”

She rose from the bench and reached out to smooth an errant hair on her sisters head—Here or there, obvious fondness in her touch. Her head tilting, seeming to contemplate something, before she chuckled gently…”Ah…To have hair of flame.”

Letting her hand fall to her side, she elaborated—Wanting to include her with her thoughts… Knowing that occasionally she said things that made sense to her, when she said them—But often times she forgot to fill in the blanks for those she was with.

“You and our brother are blessed—Hair of flame, eyes of the sea…”, she trailed off, glancing at her own reflection in the mirror for a moment—A light laugh leaving her as she made her comparison. “You take much more after the King, as does Ryan. I take more of the second Queen with me…But… We all have our fathers nose…”

“I’ve always wished to have hair that color—And I fear…”
, Naedira grinned at her sister suddenly, her voice clearly good-humored as she placed her hand over her heart in a mockery of drama, “I fear that I may have to use my magic to bring Prince Altonair to blindness tonight… He’ll forget all about me, the moment he lays sight to you.”

The hand maiden offered to place a gossamer, delicate golden shawl over her shoulders—And Naedira allowed it with a gracious nod—And another nod for Madelyne as she glanced towards the window, gauging the time with the setting of the sun. “You are most right… But a princess never arrives late to anything. She arrives exactly when she means to. Everyone else is simply early.”

Her sister asked if she was feeling well enough, and the question caught her off guard. Truth be told… She was still tired. She could feel exhaustion creeping into the edges of her body—But she wasn’t sure how long the King was staying. She smiled, gently, moving towards the door. “I’ll manage, sweeting—Do not concern yourself so… You are much too young for worry marks.”

With that—She led Madelyne out the door, the sisters walking side by side towards the dining hall. They were cut off in the hallway by an group of very stern people that Naedira had never seen before. Her arm went out to silently stop Madelyne for walking as she saw some kind of Knight strike a guard—Scold him for his weaknesses. Her hazel eyes lingered on the woman that walked in the very front… Only able to glimpse part of her face for a split second… Naedira had never seen her before.

But her stance was clearly royal…The garb the knights were wearing striking a chord within her memory, however. Who were they? Who was she?

“Let us take another way.”, she intoned to her sibling, not want to interrupt whatever lessons the hooded man had for the un-prepared guard. She turned and led her down an alternate route. It took a little longer, but for some reason… The whole scene made her ill at ease. Turning another corner that should lead herself and Madelyne back towards the dining hall—She nearly smacked face first into someone.

It was only the years of training, and natural grace that allowed her to elegantly come to a stop—An apology on her lips as her hazel eyes flickered upward…

Only to realize that for the second time that day, it was Altonair himself that she nearly ran into. Composing herself, her surprised expression schooling itself into one of the demure—Proper Princess… Her head inclined in greeting as she fell into the polished curtsey that society demanded of her. “Excuse us, my Lord…”

“Though...I can’t truly apologize—I was hoping to find you …”,
Naedira explained, her eyes shifting just slightly as they swept over him—Noting absently, that he’d changed from what he’d been wearing earlier. Then again, so had she. “Prince Altonair…”

“This is Princess Madelyne… My sister.”

She knew that the introduction would be strange… Afterall, she had mentioned to him once before that her younger sister had been taken from her. Her almond shaped eyes and careful tone explained without words, that she would apprise him of the situation when the proper time arose. He of course, would need to know that there was no scandal—Nothing that would tarnish the reputation of his House.

Smiling at the Prince, whom, she dared call a tentative friend, she rose from her curtsey, hazel eyes dancing in the torchlight with well hid amusement. “Could you be our white knight for the moment-- And escort two lost little princesses to the dining hall?”

“Micah, why do you cry?” His melody, long forgotten crept into her mind. She felt the gentle finger tips lightly brush her bare shoulder and she nearly leaped from her chair. She whirled around, sword drawn and swung with deadly accuracy. The young princess’s hands went numb and her heart stilled as she stared at the dark haired man who stood just in front of her, her blade pressing against his neck. “Kyo? This can’t be you’re dead.” She stammered out, forcing her voice to rise above the building lump. Chocking her, nearly making her sob with a whell of emotion.

He offered her his boyish grin, lighting up his dark features. Nearly breaking her heart as he slid his finger down her blade gently pressing it aside. Making her realize that she was still holding it and it fell from her hands with a clatter as it met stone. She trembled afraid to move, to touch him, to even breath as she staired at him. Her gaze slowly turning hazy, she felt his hands holding hers. So warm, so full of life and a deep tenderness that she never thought she’d know again. Kyo wasted no time as he tugged her into his arms and held her there tightly to him. She could feel his warmth wrap around her, hear his heart beat and smell his scent. That forest smell that always made her feel at home, she thought as she closed her eyes setting free a few hot tears. “Sh-h-h-h Micah.” He murmured into silver silk as his hands slid through it, soothing her. She couldn’t believe it, it had to be a dream. He was dead his blood stained Theo’s sword, she saw the light leave his eyes. Yet here he stood. With her in his embrace, how could that be possible? She thought as she pulled away to look into those dark orbs that held her heart.

Then it happened. His eyes began to sink into his skull, his hair began to thin and turn to scarce strands that were scattered about his scallop like rat tails, his skin began to cling to his skull, hugging it tightly, too tightly. His body drew cold and his teeth turned yellow, some black. Micah wanted to scream but her voice was lost to her and she was forced to watch the horror play out before her eyes. He was no more than a skeleton now, clad with loose hanging knight’s garments. She was petrified against him her body as still as stone as he began to speak. “You look frightened, you should be. You did this to me you whore. You slut.” He growled at her. She felt herself dropping away from him into the pits of hell where hands gripped her roughly, bruising her fair skin. Tugging, nearly ripping her apart. She screamed over and over again. She was dieing, the hands were trying to drag her to hell, trying to steal her life.

“Micah! Micah! Wake up!” She heard the shouts as she bolted up right and fond herself in an inn. Far from the Veritas lands. She was weeping as she looked around. A man who was in his thirties at best. A man who she’d befriended these past few weeks was there with her, holding her gently to him. Gone was the skeleton of Kyo and the hands of hell. She was safe and she clung to the man. As he rocked her gently trying to sooth her. “It was only a dream Micah, you’re alright.” He whispered against her raven silk. She knew it was, she’d been having the same dream over and over again since Kyo’s death but each time she awoke the raw emotions were still there suffocating her. She wanted to weep, to scream in unlady like tongue. “Are you alright M’lady?” He asked her as he pulled away from her, his gentle eyes staring down into hers. That she wouldn’t doubt were red rimmed from the lack of sleep with dark bags. Making her look so much older than she was. She nodded silently and then rested her head against his shoulder.

Micah had found this little in a small village untouched by the wars that wagged on just on its’ outskirts shortly after Theo killed Kyo. She’d hidden in the woods for sometime allowing her mind to scan thoughts who were here, making certain that their minds were untouched and did not have an imprint of someone who may be looking for her. She hid behind her demon looks with her raven hair and pale skin and crimson gaze. No one would know who she was or where she was from. Here she was just a wealthy woman away from home. That is all it would be till the time came for her to return.

His hand swept through her hair, brushing away the way-ward strands that shrouded her face, casting it in shadows. She couldn’t help slipping into his mind, she needed that familiar touch with someone and when she slipped into the folds of his mind she almost blushed. The way he saw her, she wasn’t ‘ugly’ as she thought, no he saw a frightened yet incredibly sexy creature. Especially when her bangs fell like this, swept across her forehead covering an eye. He was infatuated with her unique eyes, those crimson pools that said so much yet he had no idea how to translate them. He was so lost in her and had no hope of getting free. She wanted to weep as she stared up at him, her stomach turning into tight knots. She was death in the flesh she had to leave, now. Right now before he fell farther under her spell. “Thank you.” She whispered finally finding her voice as she looked down at her lap; starring blankly at her folded hands that trembled there.

“No need ta thank me miss.” He murmured, his voice a gentle melody that soothed her and brought about an all to familiar pain in her gut that made her twist her fingers together to try and ease the pain and the trembling. She sighed heavily as she mustered up the courage to look up at him. Offering him her best smile, he returned it and rose to his feet and turned toward the night stand and grabbed a tray that held porridge and fresh strawberries. “’Ere ya go.” He said as he handed her the food, it smelled absolutely delicious but she was afraid to eat. She nodded and took the tray setting it across her lap and looked up to watch him. His name was Razevan and he was a charming man and had her heart not been tattered she would look at him with envious eyes. He stood about six-three with broad shoulders, a kind face and a sinful body. A body of a man who knew labor and probably spent hours as a boy plowing the fields. The very thought of looking at him other than a man who gave her shelter made her stomach lurch and she had to fight to keep down what little contents she did have in her belly. Micah began to nibble at the strawberries as she watched him.

“Are you plan’n on ’eaven soon M’lady?” he asked her as he pulled a chair near her. He straddled it and wrapped his arms around the back of it where he rested his chin. She gulped, the thought of returning frightened her more than her dreams all she could do was nod and avert her gaze. “May I asked w’at ’appened to make ya such afraid?” He asked. She didn’t know how to answer that. How could she tell him that she murdered the heir of hubris who was her sister’s lover, putting it lightly. And that she was responsible for her fiance’s death. She sighed heavily and looked back toward him. “Because I murdered a man who threatened my family and I had my fiance killed.” She said in mild tones, not giving away the agony it caused her. She watched him, closely as he took in what she’d just said. He had no clue whom she was and she thanked the gods for that. She couldn’t risk her father knowing where she was. He would come here and drag her out by her hair and scold her. Telling her how much she had shammed the family, that she was pathetic.

Micah didn’t need such harsh words now. Not now. She was already tormented by nightmares and they certainly didn’t need her father’s assistance. “Miss I don’t t’ink any less of ya. I’m sure t’ere are t’ings you can’t tell me.. It’s alright. But you’re always welcome ’ere in my home.” He said with a warm smile, she thanked him silently as she lifted her spoon to her lips and tasted the porridge. It was sweet with more strawberries and she smiled at him as she began to eat at a more steady, demanding past.

Soon her bowl was empty and she handed the tray to Razevan and he took it and left her alone. She would have to go back soon, with in the next few hours. She’d left the safety of Veritas’ lands for to long, even if she didn’t want to.. She had to. She slipped from the safety of her bed and slipped into a velvet red corset accompanied by a black skirt that ran past her feet and trailed on the floor behind her. She slid on a red, leather coat that would hid her sword that she kept holstered at her waist and ran her fingers through her silken fall sending a small amount of magic into her touch so that her hair would become poker straight. Ones she was satisfied she went down stares and into the common room and found Razevan sitting in his large chair and a book in his hand. He always seemed to have a book with him, he was an intelligent man. She smiled at him as she knelt next to the fire and warmed her cold hands.

“Razevan, I have to leave… Today.” She added as she stared at the flickering flames. She had already made up her mind now it was time to follow through with her plans. The eldest daughter of Lust missing? Her father surely would be killing her if he had word of it, if she were lucky all he would do would be to strip her of Heiress… Not that she really minded that. The title had brought her nothing but pain and put a large wedge between her younger siblings. A relationship that she was robbed of from an early age. Sighing she looked up at him, his book was laying across his lap now. His lips a thin line and concern etched into his features, but he was silent. She offered him a small smile. “I must, my father already probably wants to kill me.” She uttered before she could stop herself. s**t she thought as she slipped into his mind and felt the anger bubbling up with in him, boiling his very blood. She cleared her throat, perhaps now would be the time to tell him just who she was.

“Perhaps you should know just who you are harboring, so that maybe you would understand.” She whispered as she rose to her feet and bowed her head, pushing the demon aside and allowing her true form to show. Silver hair spilled over her shoulders and as she rose her gaze to meet his, her ones crimson pools were replaced by silver jewels that shimmered in the dim morning light. She heard him gasp as he stumbled to his feet and dipped into a low bow. “Princess.” He whispered as he held the bow. She smiled toward him and glided across the floor. Her finger tips lightly ran through his hair and slid around to his chin lifting his head so that she could look at him. “Yes, Eldest daughter of Lust.” She murmured as he stared at her in awe.

“You don’t need to look at me like that.” She teased as she took hold of his sleeves and tugged him upright. He followed and she’d forgotten just how tall he was as she tilted her head back to look him. “It’s not everyday that I have Lust’s future Queen in my home.” He said with a shy smile. The mention of Queen made her gut summer-salt and she waved her hand and looked away. “I highly doubt with all that has been going on that I will be the Queen of anything.” She uttered her voice icy as she looked back toward him. “However I would hope that you will not say anything to a single soul that I was here. There are many who wish to harm the royal families and what better way then to take out someone who will, or is suppose to be the Queen one day.” She added hastily as she shifted back into the raven haired woman who he knew best. He nodded his understanding and stared at her quietly, his gentle eyes taking her in and she wondered what he was thinking about and if his thoughts would make her blush.

She’d already made that mistake ones today. She couldn’t do it again; if she looked into his mind his thoughts may weaken her resolve and she couldn’t have that. She leaned up and place and gentle kiss on his cheek and into his ear whispered, “Thank you.” She heard the deep in take of breath and felt his bodies response but she wasn’t about to let him have her body, her mind, or her heart. She couldn’t. No man was able to have her, she’d bring death with her where ever she went. Pulling away from Razevan she smiled, but her eyes held a gentle warning and understanding seemed to wash over his face touching his eyes the most. “I’ll get your horse M’lady.” He said with a bow, she heard the deep cords of sorrow wrapped around his tender melody but was it for her leaving or her telling him there would never be anything between them. Well she didn’t say it allowed it hadn’t needed to be. She turned to watch him as he walked past her and admired him. He was a true gentlemen and any woman would be lucky to have him. Just not one as touched by sin as she.

With in the hour she was back on the path back to the Kingdom of Veritas, her own personal hell. She wondered if her father had word of her disappearance and quickly pushed it from her mind, all in due time she told herself as she rode quickly on her black mare. The fastest horse she’d ever ridden in her twenty-one years. The joy and excitement that she gained from ridding the magnificent horse pushed away all her shame and fear she prayed that things would be better at the castle. She’d been gone long enough perhaps it was. Though she doubted it. She’d have to deal with the hubris royals. He stomach coiled at the thought of hearing that annoying child's voice, though she couldn’t recall her name. She shrugged off the thought as she bound up the hill and pulled the reins stopping the mare. There. She thought as she watched the castle so charged with magic and power, she sighed heavily as she shifted ones more from the safety of the demon and into her natural form. Swallowing hard she crossed the distance between her perch and the castle, it seemed to take forever to get there as her fear beat at her. Telling her to flee. No she was the princess of Lust and one this she wouldn’t do was run. She was too damn stubborn for that. She thought as she slid down off her horse and lead her into the barn.

Ones the horse was settled into her stall Micah turned back toward the castle and moved with fluid grace back toward it, with her head held high. She took a deep breath as her fingers curled around the massive handle and pulled. Her heart hammered into her chest as memories slammed into her. Nearly knocking her off her feet, she clutched the handle for dear life. Her only support as her mind was assaulted by the to fresh memories. Kyo’s lifeless body, his blood staining her skin, the look on Theo’s face, the memory of Kyo discovering her infidelity, his hand like a vise wrapped around her neck, her blade running through the hubris heir, her sister. When the memories faded Micah found herself still clutching the handle so tightly it cut into her palm. She was knelt and pushing herself against the door as her chest heaved, her heart hammering against her chest. Silver tears slid down her cheeks as she stared blankly down at the stairs. “I’m here and I have to go in.” She heard herself say as she pulled herself up and whipped away the tears with the back of her hand and with as much strength as she could she entered the building, preparing to meet what ever fate was given to her.

Princess of Humility || Heading to the Dining Hall || Wearing This Dress || Hair- See regular picture || Weapon

▄▄ ▄▄▄▄▄ ▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄

Waiting for her sister's reaction to her choice of attire, Madelyne felt a growing anxiety with Naedira not approving. But then, with a smile lighting up her face, Madelyne's sister said, “You look like a little Queen.” The younger princess smiled bashfully, unused to such a flattering compliment. Her sister then rose from her seat and came toward her, fixing some stray strands of hair. It was odd, to say the least, to have a female- to have a sister- to do things such as this with. Madelyne had grown up with male tutors and a single maid. The maid had taught the girl to dress and do her own hair, then, once she had accomplished that, left Madelyne to her own accord. Never had the woman given her appraisal.

It was as Madelyne mused her past that Naedira spoke again, commenting on her red hair. She waited for her sister to speak again, wondering what she could mean. As she explained, Madelyne followed her gaze to the mirror, where the differences in their hair and eye color were very apparent. The younger princess hadn't given any thought to that before; she didn't believe the contrast was worth noting. Still, it seemed Naedira, despite the laughter, was a bit upset with not having the same characteristics as Ryan and her. Madelyne was thinking of how to respond when Naedira, her tone as playful as ever, remarked that she would have to blind Prince Altonair. Madelyne laughed lightly. "Surely his eyes would be more attracted to the beautiful sun rather than a small flame," she replied, comparing the color of their gowns. "Nay, he won't be able to take his eyes off of you, my sister."

After the handmaiden donned a shawl over Naedira's shoulders, the older princess agreed with Madelyne's thoughts about heading down to the dining hall, adding witty comments the younger girl couldn't help but smile at. How kind and wonderful her sister was! Madelyne couldn't help but wish she had been able to have moments like these with Naedira like she was supposed to... No sad thoughts, she told herself, following her sister to the door. We have plenty of time to catch up.

At the entrance of her room, Naedira, a little surprised at her sister's sudden concern, seemed to hesitate. Recovering from it quickly, she assured Madelyne that she would be fine. "Do you forget, sister, that you are not much older than I?" Madelyne asked, smiling, in response to the 'worry marks' statement, as they began to head to the dining hall.

The good mood of the princess was clearly noticeable; the time she had spent bonding with her sister so far had been more humorous and loving than Madelyne had expected- with the recentness of their family reunion, of course. She couldn't help but be in high spirits. But when the two siblings came across a party of people, none of which seemed too pleased, the smile faded from her lips. Naedira stopped them from going any further, then lead her sister away. Madelyne was relieved. She had not wanted to intrude in whatever was going on- certainly that guard was being punished for something, though as to why, she did not care to know- and was a bit... unsettled by such violence. Surely a stern scolding would have been enough? But Madelyne did not know the reason for the guard's punishment. Perhaps he did deserve it? No, Madelyne argued with herself. It was not necessary to hit him, no matter the basis of the other's desire to.

As that thought crossed her mind, the princesses' were halted by the sudden appearance of a man, of whom Naedira almost ran into! But as her sister caught herself and glanced up at him, about to speak, recognition flooded her features. Then, in a second, her expression turned back to its proper, pleasant one. Madelyne followed her in curtseying to the man and rose just as Naedira said his name. Prince Altonair? She thought, taken aback. Her fiancé? Madelyne couldn't resist appraising him, trying to deem him worthy of Naedira. He was handsome enough, but was he agreeable? Her sister seemed to be well acquainted with him- if she was not, Madelyne assumed she would have been a little more formal with him.

After Naedira introduced her to the prince, Madelyne's eyes assessed his reaction. Did he know of her supposed death? Most, if not all, kingdoms must have heard of it, of that the princess was positive... Regardless of whether he had or not, she was before him now and that lay to rest any previous mention of her whereabouts. "It is a pleasure to meet you, my lord," Madelyne said politely, curtseying again, though not as low as before.

As her sister rose, Madelyne noted the smile that graced her expression. The younger princess wondered briefly how Naedira felt about her betrothed, if he was a friend, more so, or if she was doing her duty with charm- like any princess would... She then remembered what Naedira had said earlier. “The Prince is of Envy… Nothing will ever be enough.” Madelyne suppressed a frown. I know she spoke with a light tone, she thought, but underneath it... there seemed to be a hint of uncertainty. Eyes continuing to inspect the prince, she returned to her musings. If he ever makes her feel inadequate, I'm not sure how I'll be able to stop myself from berating him.
{o.c.c. Don't worry, Selena, I don't mind you moving her~}

Kingdom: Wrath
Rank: Youngest Prince

Location: Coming back to the estate and hunting for his eldest brother, Lincoln...

Lucas released a sigh as he sat in the carriage. He was alone for the moment going ahead of his sister and the Queen. His father knew his mood of late had been foul and had allowed him this chance to not only be alone but not allow his stepmother to have a reason to taunt him and stir the beast with-in him. She detested the twins, and to be honest the young prince felt for his twin but he couldn't help but feel peace knowing that the bitter woman was not accompanying him. Her vicious tongue poking at his wounds from the knowledge that the Princess of Lust was betrothed. Not only betrothed but betrothed to a nation that his was in a war with.

The very thought of it set him on edge, the beast growling with in as it demanded it be released and claim what it believed to own. He'd been pursuing the young princess right up until he left the estate. Yet she still held to her claim that her father would not allow such a thing, that it was forbidden for her to seek a man's touch. Then why was it that she would allow this to happen and why with him? Lucas could not understand such a match, especially with how stubborn she was when he offered her only courtship. Not marriage.

I may not be with you brother but my mind can still reach. Please calm yourself. His sister's soft melody brushed against his mind bring a small smile to his lips. He felt her for a moment longer, a shadow in his mind before she was gone. Leaving him with the sudden impression that their 'lovely' step mother was distracting her from lurking in her brother's mind. The young prince yawned and laid his back against the carriage seat and began to nod off. His mind slipping into memories that were not in the too distant past.

Memory.......

A letter. He thought as he entered his chamber holding the rolled piece of parchment with the Lust crest cut deep into the wax sell. The only one he could think of who would write him would be Lorelei. He held his breath and tried to force his trembling hands to still. This was foolish of him to tremble over a note from a woman. But he knew there was more to it than that. Lucas had been gone for several weeks and only now does she write him. He bit his lip as he went to his desk and retreaved the small knife that he kept there. With one swipe of the small blade the seal was cracked. With haist he unrolled the sheet and began to read. As he read he felt his heart sink low in his chest and lower still. She was betrothed! He felt the beast roar in his defense as it began to claw it’s way out. He felt the familiar itch on his back and knew his wings were seconds from escaping and then, if he wasn’t in the right state of mind he would go back and claim what was his. Even if she didn’t see it that way. He growled, a terable snarl that echoed through his chambers. Why does she even bother to write me? To torment me farther? To tell me how inadiquiet of a suitor I was? He nearly howled in pain as the beast clouded his mind.

Present...

He jolted up right in his sleep and looked around the small cabin of the carriage, his heart racing as he remembered the feeling of the wings erupting. It sent a shiver down his spin and angered him all at ones. Sending thought's of Lorelei to the front of his mind and what he'd done on that day. It sickened him to think of the scars upon the backs of Mishka's arms and hands that he'd given her when she tried to help, tried to stop his beast from doing god only knew what.

"M'lord." A male's voice rung out from the door. Lucas's dark gaze shifted toward the open door. The man bowed his head. "We are hear M'lord." He said moving aside so that the the prince could look up to the grand estate. He silently slipped from the carriage and began to approach, he felt uneasy, his stomach was in knots and anger already began to stir in his belly. It would take all that he had not to demand an audience with Lorelei. He wasn't exactly sure that he would be able to keep his temper in check, to keep the beast upon it's leash and muzzle in check. He glanced over his shoulder to the young man who was closing the door and locking it securely in place. The prince turned back around and began the walk up the stairs to the grand doors that a silver haired woman he recognized the be Lorelei's eldest sister ducking inside. Why on earth could he not get her off his mind? It seemed ever moment that passed something found a way to remind him of her and the pain she caused him, the anger.

Lucas ran his hand through his hair as entered the building. Today was going to be the longest day of his life. Some time later Lucas was strolling the halls; he was in hunt of his eldest brother. Lincoln, wanting to tell him the news that his mother would soon be joining them. As he rounded the corner to a hallway he spotted him. He was in a group, chatting, though Lucas could only see a man. But it didn't matter, any anger the prince felt seemed to slip away. He'd missed his eldest brother and one thing he had been looking forward to was seeing his brother and seeing the look upon Lincoln's face when he told him the news. "Lincoln!" He shouted to him, a broad smile upon his lips as he came up behind him. It was good to see his brother but soon his joy left him as a familiar scent drew his nose and gaze away. His heart nearly stopped...Lorelei.

Sasha Steel

Kingdom: Justice

Role: Bard

Stage: Random Hallway

Inspiration: Introductions and half-truths! With a hint of... something familiar, in the air.

Up M'lady pack your things this place is not your home
Nor was it ever sever every tie
Tonight we ride tonight we RIDE

Lady luck, it seemed, smiled on Sasha this day, for he detected no recognition from Lincoln, at least none at this time, which boded well for the bard. But with a welcomed distraction, Sasha turned his full attention to the General. "As am I, My Lord General," he replied with proper respect. After all, it wasn't every day he had the opportunity to see if a legend lived up to his name. "I must admit, I feared for the safety of the Heir," and himself, "what with being so heavily out numbered by the other kingdoms." He would have mentioned the sinful kingdoms specifically, were it not for their potentially hot-headed companions.

It quickly became apparent to the bard, that the conversation surrounding his present company, was decidedly less than pure. Observation told Sasha that it was simply men being boys, but there was something more nagging at him. Perhaps it was the way the General barely seemed to register Lincoln, and vice versa. A lesser mind my have mistook it for a temporary alliance, seeing as how being rivals for the one lady would otherwise have the pair in a fist fight by now. It was only when Lorelei addressed him that he managed to catch a hint of it, almost like a suppressed aura of some kind, though for Sasha it was a particular taste to the air. He recognised his old friend immediately; the power of suggestion. How, or perhaps what, remained illusive to the bard, but like evil knows evil, a charmer knows a charmer. Definitely an aspect of the lass in front of him that was worth looking into.

Sasha's thoughts were suddenly cut off by a shout, and like a moth to the flame, his attention was drawn to the source. Yet another male had appeared, an inevitable pattern forming in Sasha's mind, and apparently was on a fist name basis with the heir of Wrath, a relative perhaps, before the newcomer's attention drifted over to the only female present. For a moment, Sasha thought the fool to be caught in the proverbial web, but his expression was one of recognition. Whether the recognition was good or bad, remained to be seen. "I dare say, the halls must have a downward slant towards our location. Seems we have another lost soul!" The welcoming smile and friendly demeanour was little more than a façade, however. The bard found himself annoyed at both, his intended subject being so popular at this very instant, and with another mind to risk falling to the Lady's charm. Were this any other day, he would revel at the prospect of being the only one of sound mind and intent, but as it stood, he wanted a damned interview!

"Perhaps we should consider some forward momentum, lest the entire populace of the castle gravitate towards us?" Not only would the scenario be extremely uncomfortable in such a tight space, but would also make it nigh impossible to get the Heir of Wrath alone and preferably disarmed. He did not fancy a duel at the best of times, let alone against one who survived the Black Knight. His Thespian nature somehow managed to keep the involuntary shiver in check. No need to draw unwanted attention and recognition. His hand motioned in a random direction, as a silent "shall we."

So do yourself a little favour
tab tab tab tab Savour every time you waver
For that shaking in my voice was only slyly feigned chagrin
TONIGHT WE RIDE!

Envy shoots at others and wounds itself.

Envy prevents joy.

Prince of Envy

*~Location: Hallways, headed to dining hall – In the company of: Naedira, Madelyne ~*

The dining hall was no longer a challenge to find anymore, as the dark prince realized that he knew where he was going this time. At least, he thought he did. It felt right.

While he should be off in his room, mourning the loss of his sister, his meeting with the King of Humility was indeed scheduled. It would likely be in the dining hall, as he couldn't really imagine another place for a meeting to take place that would be formal.

The challenge that he knew he would have would not be keeping his sister's death a secret, but to uphold a hospitable image to the King in his current state of mind. He was still feeling the sting of sadness in him, but he had to bear with it to prevent any unnecessary attention to Envy. The last thing they needed was fake sympathy for his sister's death. She was too good to garner an act of -

At that moment, two women had rounded the corner he was about to take and nearly collided into him. A poorly constructed apology was on the edge of his tongue, when he caught a better look at one of the women. It was none other than Naedira of Humility, his betrothed! Well, this eliminated searching for her in the dining hall.

Say something you idiot! Do not have her catch onto your state of mind!

"...I can already tell we are going to make a habit of running into each other, my Lady."
he teased, his face relaxing a bit a smile edged onto his face. A quick observation had showed him that he wasn't the only one who had the idea to change clothing, as the princess' clothing was impressively different from before. Simple enough: just avoid your stronger emotions for the time being. In a matter of time, this meeting will be over and retire to your chambers.

His eyes shifted to other woman as Naedira introduced her as her sister. His eyebrow arched a bit, eyes alight with slight confusion. He and Naedira had spoken about her sister. Was she not 'taken'? Yet, here she supposedly stood. Getting into the nature of her retrieval would have to wait for another time, he knew, as this was not the most opportune moment to speak of such an event. Instead, he allowed his blue-blooded manners to flow back into him.

"It is a great pleasure to make your acquaintance, Lady Madelyne. I was certain Princess Naedira shared her beauty with her sister. My thanks for confirming my thoughts."
came his polite and complimenting greeting to the newly discovered Princess of Humility, accented with a formal bow. A quick comparison between the two Humilitan princesses did show a certain degree of fairness between the two of them, an indicator of their relation. The red hair was bit surprising, though.

Naedira asked him to accompany them to the dining, no doubt where their father, King Riley, awaited them. "I am ashamed to say that I have forgotten my white clothing in my quarters. I hope you two don't mind a blue escort." Although his tone was friendly and teasing, his words did unintentionally contain a somewhat appropriate hidden metaphor regarding his state of mind. He did not catch it, nor did he offer any evidence of emotionally being 'blue'. Hopefully, she would not read too much into his words, lest he worry about a curious Naedira pondering about his misfortune.

Location - Corrine's room, Wasn't he....not human?

Heir of Humility

|I am the son and heir.
Of nothing in particular.|

Ryan couldn't help but feel worried as Lorelei sent him back that she was lost and he did his best to ignore the promises that were ever present in her words. As she continued to speak he smiled lightly pleased to see she was as kind as ever since the last time he had spotted her. Last time she was in the company of her betrothed's family who did not approve of her in any way.
'Fear not milady I will not allow myself to be late. I would invite you to join us but I fear that would be terribly inappropriate. If we do not run into each other now perhaps we can get together and catch up a little later? I could use the company. That is unless you need me to come and meet you know. If I start walking I am sure I will get lost and meet up with you eventually.' His last statement was made in jest as he did not expect her to want him to do that but he was willing if she asked it of him. Then again he feared for her to be alone in this castle lost in the maze it always proved to be.

Still his thoughts went elsewhere momentarily as he thought about the dinner and exactly who else should be present. Ryan was suddenly aware that he should probably had extended an invitation to his own betrothed for the dinner then again they had dined with his betrothed earlier. Surely his father would want to dine with Prince Altonair without the Princess Sara. Biting his lip as he did not want to specifically not include her he decided if his father had wanted her there he would have asked. Hopefully the princess did not take offense. She was already upset enough with him simply for being bound to him in the way they were. Then again he got the feeling that she did not mind being a future queen. Sighing Ryan ran a hand through his hair for a moment as he waited in front of the door to Corrine's room. After he had knocked he heard a faint growl in the room that startled him a little. Did he not have the right room? Could he have perhaps made a wrong turn somewhere?

Just as he was about to leave someone answered the door. Staring down at the form of the little girl Ryan waited for her to say something. As the little girl (Evony) dropped in a curtsy Ryan gave her a kind smile and bowed to her raising up and nodding to her words.
"Yes as she has informed me." Was all he offered to her statement of Lorelei not having returned. As she shuffled her feet Ryan was aware of how very nervous she seemed and was not exactly sure how he could help her. His eyes swept over the room and landed on the only man present who seemed to be on all fours like a wolf or something. He was only covered by a shawl but it seemed to cover the parts that needed covering. Confusion was evident on his face though he listened intently and carefully to the little girls words. Wasn't the gardener...something else? As the little girl finished by saying her needed breeches Ryan understood why Lorelei asked him here and bit his lip slightly.

Then the other woman (Corrine) in the room came over and decided to try and give a more detailed explanation. As the other woman finished and then went on to ask if he was okay waiting for Lorelei to return Ryan gave her a nod then watched as she left to go seek an audience with Veritas. Stepping into the room fully he closed the door behind to try and preserve as much of the man's dignity as possible.
"Uh I see that you do indeed need clothing however. I am not sure you would fit in mine. At least not comfortably." The man seemed rather large after all and while Ryan was not small he certainly wasn't that large. "I can try and get you some things though if you like?" Ryan was speaking to the man directly and hoping he spoke. Turning to the girl he decided introductions were needed and gave the young princess another bow. "I am Ryan Riley Heir of Humility. Might I ask where you hail from milady?" The woman who had left had said she was a princess so he figured it polite to ask. Maybe knowing his name would make her more at ease.

As he waited for an answer Ryan decided to send Lorelei another thought to make sure she was alright.
'Milady Lorelei I am currently with the gardener though I am not sure how much help I will be in this predicament. He is a larger man than I after all. Anyway my reason for uh thinking? Is I was just a little worried considering there is a witch on the loose. Are you alright and close?' Oh how he hoped she was still safe and not in need of rescuing. He was not sure how quickly he could find her should the need arise after all.

XARD, THE DAEMONIC SORCEROR
Location: Hello, Soren
Kingdom: That one really, really old guy.
Rank: Impersonator
Wearing This: Lincoln Masterson

Xard's private dungeon was well lit with candles. He would have preferred electrical lights, but that was a violation of some rules in the world. A little technology boost only destroyed a few civilizations, not all of them...immediately.

The black armor that encased his body fell away like a robe made out of silk. It then vanished slowly from the ground like fog clearing away from a breeze. There he stood at his workbench with Lincoln Masterson's blood vial in hand. "That was fun. I think the boy enjoyed himself too. The way he just threw that knife in my face was just full of vigor. It stung a bit, but what will sting more is what I will do to his reputation," sneered the sorcerer. He was feeling really confident right now, but then again he was always confident in his abilities in making mischief.

From his cowl he, once again, brought forth the Grimoire of Oblivion. He opened the book over his table and skimmed through some pages. He stopped at the mimicry section and choose what he needed. White electricity then jumped up into his hand, coursed through his arms, and spiraled up to the vial. With a thumb flick, the cork came out along with the blood inside like a mist. A red mist that engulfed Xard's body entirely until nothing could be seen.

When the blood haze cleared, Xard was no longer there but the heir of the Kingdom of Wrath. Albeit naked(Xard was not impressed). Another twiddle of the fingers and armor and weapons, that were identical to the real Lincoln's, appeared around his body. "Nice fit. It doesn't show off the a** to well though. He'll never get somebody always wearing armor, that's why Jack's still single and not because I had him kill the one person he ever loved with his bare hands, which could horribly scar almost anybody. Nope. Not my fault at all," said Xard to himself as he checked himself out for a moment. Satisfied with the image, he vanished from his lair.

Reappearing in one of the many, many hallways where the residends liked the linger. He never quite understood why. The damn things shifted every so often, that it was easy to get lost. And from the call he heard, a female one at that, it was true. "And we have winner," he thought. "I would be happy to oblige, madam," came a reply. From around the corner came Lincoln, heir of Wrath. He marched to Soren's person with a straight back and horizontal shoulders. "It is quite easy to lose yourself in these halls. I myself have fallen pray to the halls countless times when I first arrived here." The first step to attacking someone that has their guard up all the time, is to show honesty and a willingness to open their self up to the target. And if that does not work, just shoot them with a sniper rifle. Done and done.

Rank: Knight
Location: Hallway with The Heir of Wraith(Who is actually Xard), Help in the form of something strange

Cross through the night
I looked down and lost my way
my light

When no reply seemed forth-coming, the knight sighed mentally. Great. This is what I get for getting lost. Her eyes looked around as her mind planned to make a move. However, when a voice resounded from behind her, Soren's hand immediately went to her sword. She turned around quickly only to find herself standing in front of the Heir of Wraith, Lincoln Masterson(Xard). It took a few minutes for her body to show even a remote amount of relaxing. As she did so, her hands rested at her side once more. But, her facial expression remained a mix of guarded and calm as she nodded in acknowledgement to Lincoln(Xard).

"I see. It only makes me feel slightly better to know that this has occurred to more than just myself." Her voice remained calmed and poised. If it didn't, Soren would definitely get chided by Liam for acting too non-chalantly around the nobles. A problem for a knight that had a bit of a dislike towards the class in general. Though, she would never admit her soft spot towards the ruling families of Wraith, Envy, or Humility. At least, not to one that could use such weakness against her.

"Though, by the way you speak, I assume you know the way to something familiar, like the garden or dining hall?" She wondered for a moment why the Heir(Xard) was wondering around the hallways when dinner was coming soon. It made her a bit curious, but the knight knew when to bite her tongue. "Since you seem to be willing, will you guide me to such a place?" I am sure you would whether leave the company of a knight as fast as possible anyway. The knight had heard how some of the Masterson's had a better than everyone attitude. Soren hoped the Heir(Xard) did not have such an attitude. But, knowing her luck, he did.

As she waited for the man to reply, a sinking feeling went through her. One most women had when alone with a man in a deserted area. Though, unlike those women, Soren had complete confidence she could defend herself against him. Thus, the knight pushed the silly feeling away and pointed to the hallway she had come from, which was to her left. "Though, if you do not mind me making a suggestion, I saw we go the opposite of where I came from. I am not sure what lies from the direction you came, but I would assume this hallway." Her finger moved forward and back, motioning to the hallway Lincoln(Xard) had appeared from just moments ago. "Was just a hallway you were exploring out of curiosity?" The knight did not care if she was being presumptuous. Assumptions had to be made when lack of fact was there to prove otherwise.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"Ϯҕε ɠѳȡ ȿlȧӯεɍ"

Kingdom: Veritas Rank: Dragoon Location: Hallway; It’s not stalking if she knows I’m doing it, right?

A grunt escaped Indigo's lips as he pulled himself up to finish off that set of crunches. Releasing his legs from the lowest branch he could manage, he fell to his hands before flipping to his feet in a true gymnastic style. While he didn't much care for gymnastics and such, it was a part of his life to basically torture his body on a daily basis. On account of the Astral's rapid muscle degeneration, it was that or truly torture his body. No one he had known of the Astrals was ever stupid enough to let their muscle structure degrade, but as a rule of thumb he tended to prefer the devil he knew. Besides, after a thousand years and any sense of time being dulled to that of a rusty spoon, it was second nature for him to take time out of his day to work out. It didn't hurt that it kept his body looking at least relatively decent, as well as a sculpted chest, something he found to be strangely fancied by women everywhere and everywhen he'd been. He wasn't complaining though, it made going out for a good time or "looking for trouble" that much easier. It's getting dark Indigo, should we set up camp for the day? Popping his neck, he dropped to his hands and began doing push ups at a furiously stupid pace. Were he not an Astral, he would've torn every muscle in his body at least three times by now. You can. I'm going to go out for a walk. A snort could be heard from the dragon as Indigo responded. You don't have to lie to me Indigo, we've been together for nearly a thousand years. You're going to keep an eye on your friends. Specifically, your princess friend. Huffing as he hit the half way mark, day in day out it was common practice for the Astral to hate himself for about an hour as he forced himself to do the workouts. Boy, you can read me like a book huh? It makes sense though. I don't know what Xard was after, I just know that his main bargaining-ship is gone. Xard never gave up in the past, it'd be a stretch of the imagination to think he's given up this time. Though, one can dream...

Xakstrazi sighed as he surfaced in the lake. Slicking his hair back, he took a glance around. It was a shame that Xard was here, this place seemed so beautiful, so peaceful. For a brief moment, he found himself back in Kahlimgrad, the realm the Astrals resided in. He was a boy again, even if only for the briefest of times. He was happy, carefree, gazing up at the stars in the shining fields. Kahlimgrad had been a beautiful place, even if so tainted by what the Astrals were becoming. He wondered for a moment if he would ever see those lush silver fields again, or for that matter if he even deserved to. It was said in a children's tale there that the land's beauty was a privilege to behold, that the Astrals had earned their right to live amongst it's magnificence through their eons of strife and blood. That may have been true once upon a time, but once upon a time he had to spill the blood of his family and friends in those same fields he loved so much. They lost their right to Kahlimgrad as he had, a sacrifice he was willing to make for the sake of others. People he didn't even know. People who didn't know him. People who didn't even know what had transpired. "Sometimes I just want to damn it all to fire..." Floating in the water with his clothes taking up residence on a near by tree, he stared up at the sky, his gaze portraying the things he didn't speak about, the pain he hid with smiles, and the horrible things he had to do once upon a time. Understandable. You've been alive for a thousand years. You've endured tests that would shatter peers, Astrals and all others alike. No one would blame you, and if I didn't know you I would all but expect it of you. But I do know you. You have helped people without second thought at any cost, you have shown people the light of creation and the beauty that is held within everything. You have drawn and spilled blood so that others would not have to. You have made the God-King Bahamut bow to your iron will, and as testament you received my companionship. You have loved and lost countless times, and yet you never stop. You always keep to the background, keeping a silent watch as you continue a self-inflicted penance. The young Astral's facade began to crack slightly. His emotionless gaze and blank mouth contorting to form a small frown. Alehstrasza was one of the few people he knew that was meticulous in the ability to pierce a man's armour. Whether it was because the drake knew him, because it was a natural talent, or just because it was all true, was known only to the young man suspended in time as he floated carelessly in the river.

Emerging from the lake, the Dragoon spread his wings before grabbing his clothing. Slipping into his garb, he shrugged his coat off, figuring it nice enough weather to do without. "Alehstrasza, I'm leaving my coat and the Tear with you. Keep an eye on it, I really like that coat..." Reaching into the satchel carried by his companion, he removed a band that was embroidered with the same runic markings found on his gloves. A gift from someone important to him, the day before she died. Tying his hair up, he knew it was a pointless struggle to try and get all of his hair tied back. Very well. Watch yourself with a keen eye, Indigo. Waving his hand in dismissal, the Astral spread his wings once again. "Don't wait up. I'd almost have joked you didn't have a sense of humour if I didn't know you did, it just happens to be pitch black. Like making me fall when I decided to use you for crunches. In mid-air." With that, he took off in the direction of Veritas' castle. You can't deny that it was begging to be done. Coasting back to the ground, he couldn't help but chuckle. Be that as it may, I was working out, not practicing life-and-death scenarios. At least it can't be said you don't have a sense of humour, I suppose... Continuing his short trip back to Veritas' castle in silence, he took small note of his surroundings, whether it was the sounds of life around him or the simple majesty the forest held. Instead, his mind was trapped some seven hundred years in the past, reliving that day endlessly. The only solace to be found for the young Astral was that it was over and past. There would be plenty of time for his mind to torture itself later, as for now, he figured it best he keep an eye on the princess. It just so happened to give him an excuse to spend more time with the gorgeous red-head, something he'd never complain about.

As he entered the castle, Indigo felt a bit bare without his coat. Sure, the weather was fine without, but normally he'd keep it on him at all times. Without, however, revealed his sculpted arms, and to a trained eye, a hint towards his lineage. Whether out of paranoia or not, he saw it in his best interests not to take any chances when it came to such matters. As he walked the halls however, a thought occurred to him. So Alehstrasza, how do you think I should play this one? Stay hidden or make my presence known? Stopping for a moment, he tied the scabbard containing his Blade to his side and shifted it so it was behind him. Do you honestly care what I say? While it's true you stay behind the curtain of history, you do love the limelight. Chuckling to himself as he continued on his way, it must've seemed odd to any passer-by who stumbled upon him. A strangely dressed young man with white hair and wings to match chuckling to himself. Then again, considering where he was, it was entirely out of the realm of possibilities... Fair point. I'll just stick to my strengths. I'd say wish me luck, but I think after a thousand years, I've earned the right to call it skill. An audible, if mental, snort was his companion's response. While it probably did sound a bit arrogant, it couldn't be denied he had a point. "Ah, jackpot..." He said quietly to himself as he caught sight of the princess Madelyne. However, she was not alone- accompanied by a young lady who appeared to be the one carried out of the room after Madelyne's lineage was revealed. Royalty, no doubt, which complicated things if only slightly. Staying out of sight for the time being, his presence likely would've complicated matters. However, he wasn't one to give up, and stayed a fair distance behind the two. It wasn't long before another had entered the fray; a prince most likely. He was beginning to wonder if anyone in this castle wasn't royalty... However, that thought was quickly silenced when he reminded himself that he too was of royal blood, that of the highborn. Leaning against the wall behind himself, he couldn't help but smirk as his eyes met that of the lady Madelyne's for a brief moment. Waving to her, he ignored the possibility that the other princess or even the prince saw him. Then again, it could hardly be said that he loved the limelight if he wasn't willing to be seen. The flip side of that however, he did hope his presence didn't lead to any unforseen complications, all creation forbid they approach him and ask he explain himself...

OOC: Don’t mind Indigo, just technically stalking a princess. Move along, nothin’ to see here folks.

I was angry with my friend: I told my wrath, my wrath did end.
I was angry with my foe: I told it not, my wrath did grow.
- William Blake

"Your sister made a very enjoyable evening out of something that was assuredly meant to not be nearly half so much," Lincoln returned in comment. He had enjoyed the dinner, dance, and stroll with the other princess of Lust, and though the evening ended with much more drama that how it had begun, the calmer parts were pleasant overall. His own reply gave him a few seconds of better control, up until Kirios also kissed her hand.

Lincoln wondered at how this handsome bear of a man could be so at ease with the siren princess of Lust. He flirted with her, obviously, but not so much as to be crude. A very perfect mix of charm and playfulness that she could easily either dismiss or return in kind without anyone losing face. It was a skill Lincoln lacked, as he was usually better with the extremes, such as quite subtle, or more to the point. Though he was very much distracted by his urges, he still had enough stability of thought to feel a bit jealous (and some grudging respect) for the General of Justice. Even that last comment, how it made himself seem superfluous, as if he wouldn't be there when the general walked with the princess.

Princess Lorelei's replies to the general were not nearly so flirtatious, but there was more to her speech than her words, as that delicate song moved around them all like a gentle breeze. The manner of forcing his concentration and restraint, by squeezing his injury, worked well so far, keeping him looking as if he was not at all aware of the temptations floating about. He took a second to try to focus his mind elsewhere when Steel mentioned 'other kingdoms' to Kirios, recalling who was the enemy of Justice, when his thoughts were paralyzed with shock at the siren was in his mind.

As a private individual, Lincoln was normally affronted by such telepathy. Even when Prince John of Fortitude had only used his ability because he had no other way to communicate (and only to share a polite greeting), he had been furious. Lorelei's voice and her blasted siren song were in his mind now, overwhelming all thought for several seconds (long enough for her to speak to him there, and vocally with Steel and Kirios). She did not merely state something and leave him be, but she communicated fully with him, asking a question and remarking more so on what she felt to be her duty. For several seconds, he was too stunned to answer. Even though the animal instinct went mad, wanting nothing more than to just take her that very moment, regardless if it would be in front of these men, the thinking part took a second to reboot.

He reacted initially to the 'invasion', as he felt it was. Though his rational thoughts knew she had meant no harm, and knew that she had addressed him with this manner to permit him to save face... he could not accept it. He couldn't even form words to respond. On top of that, the sheer force of lust he felt for the siren was so strong that it gave him a second of clarity. He was an heir, and of the formidable kingdom of Wrath. He was not to be treated as some mere kitten, toyed with a feather on a string that was her call. His reaction was of a deep and cold hatred that was on par with occasions of which he had felt only very few times in his entire life.

Though he did not respond with words made of thought, his emotions probably replied as daggers to Lorelei. There was only a black thunderstorm in response to her innocent and well-meant communication, and a foreboding warning of immediate and imminent harm to her person. Not triggered by a carnal desire, but by sheer animosity, bordering on psychotic homicidal intent. The Heir of Envy had hated her for creating something new in him which was an abnormality, a possible vulnerability. The Heir of Wrath despised her utterly for having power over his mind and body, something which he had only recently been tempted with another person, but not to this level, and not against his will. He was self-discipline personified; he had worked all his life to control each and every thought and action, despite the inherent temper that was his birthright. To realize he had been so lead like a dog with a leash, even to have the idea of publicly displaying his response to her power before these others, was a blow to his deepest core. Common sense tried to reason with him, to remind him that Adel and the twins had also created unbrotherly emotions for a short time within him, completely unintentional and without malicious purpose.

In truth, he was more angry at himself than at Lorelei. Her siren song was potent, enriched by her personality that was shelled in a beautiful body, but it was HE that had fallen prey to it, despite thinking he had learned to withstand its power from living with his siblings (eventually, with some understanding of what they did with or without meaning to, he had mastered his resolve against their siren abilities so that he did not react to them even by a fraction). Yet he could not turn the anger towards himself at the moment, as his first impulse was of self-defense against her, thereby marking her as the object of his resentful indignation.

Added to that, he was still inwardly distressed from his recent battle, from the trauma of pain he'd sustained (though Xard had left no marks behind), and that small bit of stabilizing reasoning might as well have been a mere snowflake before the fires of Hell itself. Had he perhaps never had the fight and been so keyed up, he might've been able to hide his revulsion at her telepathy and what it triggered, even enough to give her a gentlemanly denial of his situation in response. Though he had no training on matters of telepathic abilities, instinct forced her benign gift away from him as if he'd slapped her away with every iota of strength he had. His eyes darkened with pure abhorrence as he stared at the innocent Lorelei, though he otherwise made no move nor expression to alert the others to his thoughts in the slightest. While Nathaniel had his hand stayed by whatever the siren had begotten in him, Lincoln's need to destroy her was more easily paused by distraction. No matter how hostile he was, he was still a sane individual, and more easily able to dictate his actions than merely react.

The heir turned around, amazed to see his youngest brother even after recognizing his voice. It had been at least a year or two since he'd had a chance to visit him on the battlefield (though they wrote often enough to each other, before either had even heard of the god Veritas), and the man before him was not the boy he'd seen then. His murderous rage was pushed aside (though only buried, not extinguished), as he turned his body to face his brother, too adrenaline-charged to notice Lucas' reaction to the woman now behind him.

"Lucas," the elder brother was slightly taller, though not quite as built as the younger. His hands both moved to grip Lucas' shoulders in a publicly permitted method of embrace. "It has been a long time," his voice was calm, though still emotive. The prince had been around Lincoln much when they were younger, and it would have been an easy matter for him (unlike for the strangers about, with the exception of Lorelei) to notice the tenseness about Lincoln. More obviously, the way Lincoln's hands gripped hard at his shoulders, as if he were a lifeline, should have hinted at the severe inner distress he was battling.

As he looked at his brother, noting how his features were matured now without seeing his overall expression, he felt his control return in some small amount, and he was able to loosen his grip. As he allowed his hands to drop, Lincoln saw he had stained the young man's right shoulder with his half-congealed blood that had still been on the glove that had been forcing pain as a control method. He immediately used his left hand to return to the wound on his own right arm, and gave the other man a nod. "Forgive me for fouling your clothes, Brother. I had forgotten my state, what with the excitement of seeing you again."

To the others, the word 'excitement' would definitely seem like a fantastical overstatement, based on his body language and tone. But the younger Masterson would have known something was up immediately by not only the use of the word from his more reserved brother, but also because he had not called him by his name, one of their old childhood codes for requesting assistance or interception with a situation (initially a hint to run interference for the other, such as to save them from a lecture or whatnot, and later to allow each other some respite with a more political game or actual battle with others as they tag-teamed the opponents). A second or two passed and Lincoln finally truly saw his brother, and how he was looking towards Lorelei.

Though the fire of his rage had been reduced, it was still banked, and threatened to rekindle if he suspected Lucas had been caught in a similar snare that he had. Looking over his shoulder while otherwise remaining still, Lincoln looked back towards the princess of Lust, moreso to gauge her reaction at Lucas than caring what she had felt from him, if anything at all. Even though he was only a half-brother by lineage, Lucas was of Lincoln's blood, which he considered as solid as anything.

In the desert
I saw a creature, naked, bestial,
who, squatting upon the ground,
Held his heart in his hands,
And ate of it.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

User Image The sound of rustling parchment catered to the scene like a lullaby, the heir’s hands moving over each exposed bit of paper with a pen, detailing the day’s events in neat –and, if handwriting alone could truly portray it, somber- scrawl. Withdrawing to his quarters had been done out of necessity rather than mere preference, and Nathaniel’s eyes had grown listless now that they were shielded from the castle’s greater population.

No, the heir had not foreseen his sister’s death upon their entrance to her quarters; hadn’t even allotted himself a moment to entertain the thought. Rosalie’s madness had been blatant to any who happened into her presence of late, but for the woman to choose suicide…

Such an unexpected turn of events; honestly, the prince had pegged her as someone hardier than that. As it was, Max waylaying her so suddenly proved enough to push her to the breaking point; exposed the latent weakness which her eldest brother had admittedly always suspected she’d harbored. Little Rosalie, the stalwart warrior. Ever unshakable. Persistent. Strong.

What humor such claims provided him now, as he quietly narrated her death amidst a letter to his parents, all words written laced in sorrow…all available feeling behind them void. As for the girl’s second thoughts, and Nathaniel’s subsequent unwillingness to help her…Briefly, the man’s glacial sights drifted to stare upon the knight at his side; as per usual, the only witness to his crime…the only one truly privy to what lay beneath the Heir’s cogent guises.

”Liam,” Finally, Nathaniel felt it appropriate to cut through the thick of their silence, the knight at his side no doubt waiting for the him to explain himself; no, not for his dealings with Rosalie. Over that, Liam would likely be expecting little, for never once had the heir bothered to explain himself to the man—list his malady in detail, for his scrutiny. That was simply left to Liam’s own interpretation, should he bother to ever even dwell on such a matter at all. No, The raven haired man would be in want to know what his new duties would be, now that his charge’s remains were being picked off the soil, ”My parents will undoubtedly request that you watch over Evony now…” He’d not want to hear that, surely, and even if the heir cared enough to cater to the knight’s ambition, the situation would be out of his hands, ”I suppose it’s only proper, given that she’s now their only remaining daughter.”

Nathaniel let the words hang between them for a moment, unable to filter any warmth to his tone. However deeply unusual it was for the prince to drop his façade, he had certainly done so by this point, albeit keeping his reasoning behind such a decision to himself. Whether it be out of trust towards Liam, or sheer exhaustion, there seemed little need for explanation. Rather, the heir twisted his fingers together, abandoning a stance fit for writing in lieu of a more pensive repose, flaxen tresses falling back to frame the corners of his face. ”If you would be so kind, Liam, I’d like for you to find my sister and…explain the present situation to her. I have little doubt that word about Rosalie is already spilling through every corridor, but there remains a rather significant chance that you might find Evony before the gossip does.”

And as much as it might be considered his duty to inform the girl of their sister’s demise, Liam’s stepping in to do so on his behalf seemed just as couth. After all, stories would tell that the heir was too upset by his failure to save Rosalie to venture away from his room; in truth, tears…hysteria…were simply very, very taxing for him. And uninteresting; grief was terribly dull.

Idly, Nathaniel’s hand crawled forth to cradle his cheek, his normally tight features growing slack when he released a small intake of air; falling from thoughtfulness to boredom…trapped amidst the oceanic backdrop of his bedroom until the dust settled, and those about the castle no longer expected him to look utterly bereaved. Pale fingers crawled to find his temples, massaging them as if to will away the boredom all of this caused him, ”As for the knight, Soren…” A click of his tongue; he’d been meaning to address this matter with the knight for some time, ”Keep an eye on her; make sure that she is carrying out her duties. She seems intent on avoiding me...for reasons I can't truly understand. You’ve my permission to handle insubordination in any way you see fit.” The statement fell with a languid wave of the man’s hand; a silent dismissal, thus indicating the close of their discussion.

All Nathaniel needed now was to be left to the silence, and the parchment spread about the table; and his thoughts, screaming for him to write words and statements which his mask would not allow him.

I let her go, Father. I released her hand…willed her body to break against the ground, because our little Rosalie had long outlived her usefulness.’

I said, "Is it good, friend?"
"It is bitter -- bitter,"he answered;
"But I like it
Because it is bitter,
And because it is my heart."

Ella was basically expecting the worse. When she had run into him (Sam), she had not recognized him and was expecting him to yell at her, scream at her and who knows, possibly even hit her. But he did not. The man in front of her merely apologized for not paying attention to where he was going and what he was doing. Why was he apologizing to her? She was a servant and from the brief look Ella had of him before she began trying to burn a hole in the floor, he was someone of a much higher status.

“No need to apologize My Lord. It was my fault as well. I was not paying attention to what I was doing either.” Her face was still tinted a pretty pink when she looked up. And that pretty pink changed into a light red as she noticed that Sam was trying to look at her. Blue tresses fell away from her face as she looked up at him, her eyes locking with his. He had very deep eyes and when Ella realized she was staring, she looked back at the floor, changing the subject. “Are you lost, Sire? I can direct you some place if you like. Dinner will be served shortly if you want to head to the dinning room.”

Remembering Aveline was just a door away, she looked back to see if the Princess was there. She was going to tell the Justice royal about dinner as well, should she be listening.

Kingdom: Humility
Rank: 1st Princess
Location: Dining Hall

User Image“Let us hope…”, Naedira responded teasingly, to her sisters comment about the Prince of Envy being unable to take his eyes from her. It wasn’t so much the wandering eyes that men tended to have that bothered her… It was more so, that she wouldn’t disgrace her Kingdom by failing in her duty. And that included accepting her betrothal… Some may fight it, openly, verbally… But she would not. Though having her freedom stolen from her did not please her… She could imagine, that it was no less pleasing to Altonair.

Who would want to be wed off to a prudish child of Humility, when there were other Kingdoms far more suited to life as an Envian. She was proud of her bloodline, of her family—Her ancestors…But she couldn’t say that her betrothed would feel the same way, despite the understanding they’d come to.

So she wouldn’t make it any more difficult than it had to be.

She chuckled when her sister brought up the fact that their ages weren’t so far apart—Truly, not even a full year separated them… But Naedira remembered the sweet innocent child best of all—And it would take a period of adjustment for her to act accordingly. Still…Little sister, was still the younger—And therefore, the fey-woman qualified as ancient. “No, I am not—And that means I must be twice as careful to avoid such things.”

“Beauty…It can be powerful, when well used. But beauty doesn’t last forever…Though ours will likely last longer than most... So we are lucky you and I—That we will always have our wit and intelligence to fall back on.”
, whether this was a veiled piece of advice, or just more teasing—It would be unclear. Naedira had seen the girls memories…. But just like the darkness of the spell faded from her eyes, the details were slipping through her fingers like sand.

The only complete thought that it left her with, was the fact that yes—This woman-child, was indeed her beloved sister.

And considering she’d grown into a woman, away from the castle and comforts of home…She could only hope that she had managed to learn many a thing on her own. There were certain pieces of advice, and things she could offer… But none would ever make up for her loss. For what time with her family, for her birthright that had been stolen from her.

In the hallway, Naedira waited a patiently for Altonair to respond—Feeling almost apologetic for so abruptly interrupted whatever thoughts he’d been focusing on. Her sister introduced herself, and it distinctly tickled her to once again be able to say, ‘This is my sister.’

Not was…Not past tense. There was very little that could possibly ruin Naedira’s mood…Except, perhaps her brother failing to attend dinner with them. Surely…He couldn’t be that angry with her, could he?

“I can think of worse habits to indulge…”, she returned to the Prince with the same level of propriety he’d given her. He smiled, faintly, and she felt some of the tension between her shoulders dissipate. Truly… She knew she shouldn’t be worried about the Envian Prince meeting her father. But she couldn’t help it—It wasn’t as if this was a common occurrence for her.

She saw his confusion about her sister, and was equally grateful he said nothing of it.

Naedira breathed out slowly as he greeted Madelyne, wishing that she’d had time to prepare him for her. It was rude of her to place him in such a situation…But he handled it far better than she could have hoped for.

Although, the same could be said of her reaction to his zombified brother.

Her eyes flickered to Madelyne for a moment, when he commented on her loveliness—A certain easy going expression of ‘Told you so’ passing through her. It lasted no more than a second, before her countenance smoothed back into the graceful—Ever elegant Humilitan royal.

She smiled at Altonair—Letting her hand find the crook of his elbow delicately to allow him to lead, as was proper. “I’ve always preferred blue over white m’Lord—A blue knight, will suit us just fine.”

“So long as he can tell east from west, better than I.”

It was impossible, not to notice how handsome he was up close—Just as it was impossible not to notice something…Off. Naedira passed it off as potential nervousness at meeting her family. She would have chastised herself, had she actually known the source of his displeasure… She would have never at all insisted that he meet her Father this day. Naedira well understood the loss that came with the death of family.

But as she knew nothing, of Rosalie, having been secluded in her chambers in the afternoon... She continued as normal, allowing Altonair to lead her, and her dearest sister, to the dining hall.

The dining hall was slowly filling with people…Royals seated and carrying on—Servants pouring fine sweet honey wine and bringing about appetizers for guests to enjoy. There were more than just the heirs and children of Kingdom’s in the castle—There were the actual Kings and Queens for several ruling powers. Likely, no expense would be spared to their dining pleasure.

There were two long, very long—Eloquently decorated parallel tables in the grand dining hall—Separated by color and crest for the Kingdom’s present. They were of no particular order that could easily be distinguished… Except that one table seemed to be for the White, virtuous Kingdoms, and the other for the sinful Black.

King Riley was already seated, though his gaze remained stoic—Staring at a lass that had entered the dining hall with a veritable entourage. She wore the colors of Avarice, as did her guard… She carried herself with the authority of an heir, pompous enough to be a young Queen—But she was not the Lady Dorian. At first, he’d thought as such, having seen her from the side—The gold of her hair reminding him of the Heiress to Avarice.

But no. She was not at all, the child of the Malcanthet.

It was…Most perplexing to the King of Humility. And worrisome for his progeny. They remained protected from the War with Avarice due to their friendship with the children of the crown…But if Avarice was raising defense, sending more of their people… The King would return in kind.

He’d not willfully allow harm to come to his children. And he’d not leave them out numbered.

Seeing his eldest daughter enter the dining hall, on the arm of a blue clad gentlemen, his thoughts were stolen from the troubles of Avarice—Though every day, they seemed to grow more and more deceitful. They’d not returned any of his letters or requests for a treaty. Strangely enough, the war from had been…Most quiet. It was disconcerting.

A flash of red caught his attention, just beside the glittering gold of Naedira’s gown—And he realized after a moment that it was Madelyne. Leave it to Naedira, to make her feel welcomed where his manners abruptly failed. He couldn’t take his gaze from either of them as the herald announced their arrival--Until they made it to the table…They looked so much like their respective mothers. Naedira, with her darker complexion more so than Madelyne…But still. He could see his late third wife clearly in the red haired child, while she wore her hair as such…He was astounded that he hadn’t seen the likeness in her countenance before.

Perhaps he had simply been an old man blinded by anger, and despair.

“Father…”, Naedira greeted with her usual dazzling smile, dipping her head in respect to her King…Though he was indeed her Father…He was still, first and foremost the King of her homeland. She owed him, her allegiance—Before any daughterly love.

Even though she did, truly love him dearly.

“I introduce Prince Altonair of the Kingdom of Envy.”, she announced the man beside her formally, waiting for her Father’s response.

Such formalities might have seemed silly…Considering a herald had just announced them. But it was easily expected. The King did not rise from his chair, but nodded in the direction of his children and their guest—Signaling that it was fine for them to be seated.

“My daughter has spoken kindly of you, Prince.”, King Riley spoke up, eyeing the young man with something akin to distrust…Distaste. It was not at all the same look he had given the Lady Sara that morning. It was different, with his female children. Naedira, for the longest time, had been his only daughter… Letting her go would be difficult. When it came to Ryan’s betrothal…He would simply be gaining another daughter…

With the marriage of Naedira, he would be losing her. “Pray that you live up to her assessment.”

And if the Prince of Envy proved ungallant… Humility, would in turn—Prove ungallant.

Madelyne.”, the King called for his younger daughters attention, something akin to curiosity in his stoic tones as he left the topic of Naedira’s engagement. “Tell me… Did Veritas decide on a betrothal for you as well?”

The King, in the same words hoped not. His youngest had just been returned to him… He would not react…Kindly, on her being taken from him again. Not so soon.

Naedira relaxed when her father greeted Altonair—Though not completely. She chose the seat directly across from her father so her betrothed would not be so directly faced with her father. She looked to Madelyne, and gestured to the seat to her left if she wished—Leaving Altonair to sit beside her on her right.

Everything seemed to be the way it should be….

Except that Ryan was no where to be seen…

Frowning, she raised her palm—And a little white light appeared in it. Murmuring a spell under her breath, forgetting the powerful spell she’d done earlier, she wasn’t prepared for the immediate dizziness she was left with. Her skin paled a moment, as she leaned back in the high backed chair, catching herself quickly—Voice just a little too breathy.

“Leave it to my brother to be late. He’ll be here soon, I hope—And with a very good excuse.”

The little ball of light Naedira created zoomed through the hallways…Looking for one man in particular. It slipped under a doorway, before zipping around Ryan Riley’s head like an annoying firefly. The voice that came from it was shrill, and yet innocent—Like that of a child.

“Are you still so livid, my brother—That you would break your word? I need you here.”

XARD, THE DAEMONIC SORCEROR
Location: Hello, Soren
Kingdom: That one really, really old guy.
Rank: Impersonator
Wearing This: Lincoln Masterson

Soren seemed to be standing away from him, figuratively speaking. It was just himself and her in one of the many hallways in Veritas Castle by themselves. It was to be expected; however, from his observations via Cauldron TV Soren was a formidable knight (even for a woman of that time period where their rights were practically non-existent). She could hold her own easily against any man. Sadly Xard was not just any man. He was a sorcerer from Hell.

"I will gladly guide you to the dining hall. The hall I came from will lead us there. I was merely talking a brisk walk to work up an appetite. I do not mind cutting it short for you, however," replied the monster in prince clothing...and skin. He approached her with a calm, almost gliding, walk. Once he was at her side, he offered her his arm. "You may take my arm if you wish. That is what I have seen gentlemen with ladies do when walking with one another. I cannot say it would look natural though. Like you, from what I have seen you dressed in, I am a warrior too; such things as um, 'Arm hugging?' do not come natural to me. I much rather fight with a sword, but princes are expected to behave otherwise," said the prince with a sigh. But he smiled still. He was in the presence of a beautiful, young red-head. "I bet lil' Indigo would be so jealous-alarmed-but jealous if he saw me working. Ha haaa-Imbecile," thought Xard to himself with an inward smirk of triumph.

Xard wished he had found a royal member to assassinate instead of a lowly knight, but beggars cannot be choosers. She just happened to be around where he was. Either way, the impact of this act would utterly arm Lincoln's reputation as an honest to goodness prince of Wrath. He just had to wait until someone was close by, so they could see the act in progress. If they stopped him from killing Soren, it still worked out for him. It would probably be better. He would leave her life up to her observers. If it was Jack, then his whole plan would be foiled.

He could not mask his whole aura from him when it came to the demon hunter. Due to their bond from the Oblivion Stones, they were bound to one another by that imaginary "Red String of Fate." Where ever Xard went, regardless of what magic he used, Jack Rohaun would always know his general location. Magical phenomenon, such as the powers within the castle, could confuse the hunter, but nothing more. On the flip side, Xard would know what Jack was thinking. That was how he stayed a couple steps ahead of Jack. If the two ever met, it would be because Xard wished it to happen. Everything that occurred when Xard was involved happened through careful engineering of plans, back-up plans, and sub-plans. The Hell Devil was as paranoid as they came, but it was more out of playfulness than fear.
