Lin laughed at that, she had to wonder now what was Triton's excuse for his ears and tail. She must ask him sometime, but must have been interesting, he was the first neko after all in the Four Lands ever.
"Hmmm...?" she murmured looking at Earendil, she blinked, "Oh... yea, at least I think so. I had a crick in my neck earlier so I figured I must have slept funny and didn't realize it."

Earendil frowned. "If you say so ..." But she wasn't rubbing at her neck, she was rubbing at her shoulder. Still, he wouldn't press the matter. If she felt it was something to worry about, she would let him know.
"So if we travel until sunset, and then start again early tomorrow," Aranel mused, changing the subject, "we should arrive at Namu Ngulu probably in within two hours tomorrow. Phoenix Falls is located there, it's well worth checking out, as well as the agricultural part of the city. Odd as that might sound." He chuckled. "It's quite a beautiful place, we could spend a few days there."

"Sounds like a plan," Lin nodded, "I just want to see the waterfall."
She had never seen a waterfall (at least not a real one) so it would be great to see it. That thought took her mind off of the ache she had been feeling since they left that morning. Honestly it wasn't that bad before but she figured maybe she wasn't use to traveling for this long.

"And it is well worth the anticipation," Aranel assured her with a warm smile.
As predicted, before noon the next day they had arrived at the city of Namu Ngulu - or at least, at its outskirts. The first sign that they were getting close was the soft roar of the waterfall as they drew near, followed by the fields of grain and corn that suddenly popped up everywhere.
Earendil and Kaito were amazed at how suddenly they had come into the fields. The change had been quite unexpected - and it was nearing the harvest season, so all of the crops were beginning to turn the same color gold as the desert sand around them.
"Shiro would love to know how the plants survive, let alone thrive, in this climate," Kaito chuckled.

"Hmmm....." Lin nodded.
She had to admit she was amazed by the grain and the corn it was like certain places back home, only they were in reality in a desert which if she thought about it seriously was really weird. Though she would have enjoyed it more if she didn't feel like she was dozing off. Senka had probably nipped her no less than six times and the aches in her back hadn't gone away.
She was grateful people hadn't expect her to change her clothes that often while on travel, she wasn't sure if she could lift her arms. Of course if she had, she might have noticed the ugly looking bruises forming underneath.
"The change is sudden," she murmured though she was sure there was a question in there somewhere in her head.
Like something about corn...

There was something in Lin's voice that worried Earendil, and he watched her anxiously. She hadn't been herself the day before at all, especially in the second half of the day, but this morning ... there was definitely something wrong. The heat, perhaps?
"I think we should find some shade and rest," the prince suggested, though his tone was urgent. "As soon as we possibly can."
He rode closer to Lin. "Lin, are you all right?" he asked her worriedly. "You sound ... terrible ..." He reached out and put one hand gently on her shoulder.

She flinched, the whole area was sensitive, it was amazing she had been able to sleep but she also seemed to as of last night the ability to sleep like a log.
"I'm tired...." Lin admitted.
Though she couldn't imagine why she did really sleep like a log last night.
"And my back hurts, it all just hurts."

Earendil hesitated. "Perhaps if you can hold on until we get to the city, the healer could look at it," he murmured softly. "Or if you can't, then perhaps ... Tinuviel ..."
Tinuviel drew closer. "My brother is right," she said worriedly. "You haven't been yourself ... you are not yourself."

Well she wasn't going to disagree with that, being half asleep and sore and just down right feeling weird wasn't her at all.
"Then..." Lin murmured, "City... or look and see what now?"
She was sure she just skipped a word there, she really just wanted to sleep. A part of her, a small part of her that was still capable of logical thought sort of put together the greater the pain the greater her need to just sleep.
"I think she's going to pass out again," Senka commented as if ready to n** Lin's arm again.

Without being told, everyone stopped riding. Tinuviel passed Regan to Aranel, then dismounted and held her hands up to Lin. "Come on, the others will stay here while I check you out," she murmured.
She eyed the cat. "Senka, perhaps you should come too."

Senka eyed her position from the horse to the ground before taking a leap and gliding her way in circles down to the earth. She figured that safer than trying for Lin's shoulder, because frankly no where near that area was safe to perch on at the moment.
Lin took Tinuviel's hands and had to think about it before dismounting her own horse. Which normally she land straight on her feet, but this time she landed and stumbled.
"I'd rather take a nap...." "I'm the cat, I'm supposed to say I'd rather take a nap!" Senka protested.

"You can sleep later," Tinuviel told her, catching her before she fell. She helped Lin a ways away from the others so that they could have a bit of privacy, then set Lin gently on the ground, sitting up.
"I'm going to take a look at your back," she told Lin, moving to lift the back of Lin's shirt to see what was wrong. "Let me know if it hurts you."

"Hmmm...." Lin mumbled.
She bent forward while sitting only because it made her feel better. What Lin didn't know was this was perfectly normal, if she had been her mother. Her body was slowing down making her sleepy, which made the process bearable at least.
As the shirt was lifted there were two perfectly round evenly spaced bruises on her shoulder blades. Though there looked to be bumps growing on said shoulder blades.
Senka sniffed the air several times, her nose high up as if she was trying to catch a scent, "I smell blood."
Lin might have noticed the blood had she not been passed out at the time. Somewhere between Tinuveil lifting her shirt and Lin bending forward she had actually lost consciousness. It didn't stop her from moaning though as the skin broke and wings began to sprout.
There were times Lin was too much like her parents for her own good.

Whatever Tinuviel might have been expecting - that was not it. She had spent her entire life in training to become the next queen, heir to the throne, and in her training she had learned many things - chief among them, never be surprised, no matter what - and if she was surprised, don't show it. But that had never taken into account anything like this, and this was beyond expectations of any kind.
She had to bite her tongue to keep down the scream that seemed to want to make its way out of her throat. How could she even begin to describe- how could she-
"Kaito!" she called, the one person she thought might know what was going on. Kaito was from Lin's world, perhaps this was common there ...
"Yeah?" Kaito asked, jumping from his horse and running towards them.
Tinuviel was holding one hand to her mouth. "What ..." She liefted the back of Lin's shirt again to show Kaito what she saw.
Kaito blinked. "Gross ... Lin, why didn't you tell us you were growing wings?"

Senka poked Lin with her paw several times, "I think she's passed out at the moment, you'll have to take a message."
Yes, this was far too normal for any denizen of Gaia, while sprouting wings weren't common, they were by no means unusual. Unless one was a Second, but that was a completely different matter completely, and had Lin been awake she would have acidly told Kaito that Seconds do not sprout wings.
"Uhm.... You might want to pull her shirt off and move out of the way, I hear getting hit by sprouting wings hurt."
She eyed her owner as the slurping sound of wings leaving whatever inner casing it had been while growing inside the back. Senka backed up a few paces, though she was safely beside her owner not behind her owner.
