Are you going to have summer school again?

I'll be doing Independent Study .__. And looking for an internship. And volunteering (probably at the library), because I'll need it if I want to even have a glimpse of a chance of getting into National Honors Society. And tennis camp, because I really want to get into varsity next year. And flute lessons .__. Chinese summer homework too.

Oh yeah, I've heard of NHS but I don't know what it is. Seems like you'll be busy all summer.

National Honors Society? I'm not entirely sure what it is either. I just know that it's pretty selective and that it looks somewhat good on a college resume. I think it's just a gathering of all the students who have a high GPA and lots of service/leadership hours.
DDD: Yeah.

I kind of wanted to join NHS but if it includes having to do loads of service hours then I don't really want to join....

Well, my school requires some service hours anyways for graduation, so I thought I might as well give NHS a shot.

I thought every school required service hours.

Oh, didn't know that. Do you know how many you need to graduate? I only know that NHS requires at least 15 service hours. [/has no idea about amount of leadership hours.]

I think I could get that amount if I volunteer at the library's summer reading program.

What do you have to do for it?

You sit at a counter for an hour, and if anybody happens to approach you about registering the summer reading program, you give them some free coupons and a log, point towards a computer screen, and tell them to log in.
I know, because I've participated in the reading program lots of times, and I've watched the volunteers. That's all they do.
But that's means ample time to read for fun ^^

Hmm, well it's an hour a week, but you can probably sign up for more times.
