Donovan chuckled, it seemed that Ruque had figured it out before he even had to explain. He led the two out to the barracks and decided for no particular reason at all if he didn't see Alyse outside of the barracks that they would try the barracks only family first.

Since really he was walking blind on this one, he really didn't know Alyse well enough to figure out who she could be visiting.

Ruque didn't see Alyse outside the barracks, but he simply walked along with Donovan cheerfully. The sun was just beginning to lower in the sky, and his stomach was growling, but he wasn't one to be grumpy or complainy no matter what.

"Guess she's inside," he grinned up at Donovan.

"I guess so..." Donovan murmured as he opened the door, he stepped in first but help the door open, "Stay close, it's going to be really dark once the door closes."

More like pitch black, but either way.

Ruque didn't mind the dark, but he didn't want to get lost or left behind.

"Can I hold onto your coat?" he asked, looking up at the man anxiously. "Maybe ... have a hand in your pocket or something? Just so I don't get lost?"

Sure he would be able to hear Donovan, but he didn't have the best sense of direction.

"Grab onto my coat if you want, you probably don't want to have a hand in my pocket, since you won't know which pocket I keep certain stuff in," Donovan replied.

He waited for Ruque to grab on before heading down the hallway. Like Lin he didn't know Timeaus had moved, but since he wasn't looking for Timeaus exactly that didn't matter as much when he knocked.

It was Halmir who answered the door, and the grizzled fighter was for once perfectly serious. His eyes showed sheer exhaustion, and it was apparent that it was only through the power of will that he was even still on his feet.

"Donovan," he nodded wearily. "How can I be of service? I hope the children are all doing well."

Ruque looked up at Halmir curiously. He had never seen anyone so scarred and disfigured ...

"The children are asleep and well," Donovan assured him, "I was just wondering, I heard Alyse was here and Ruque would like to go back home. So... I don't suppose you know whom she was visiting or whom she is most likely to visit?"

He hoped to be quick, since he really didn't want to be bothering Halmir. If Halmir was tired enough to be serious then he was really tired.

Without even pausing to think, Halmir raised one hand and pointed at the door directly across the hall.

"Check with Timaeus," he murmured. "She's almost guaranteed to be there."

And with a polite nod, he closed the door again, leaving Donovan and Ruque in blackness once more.

Ruque looked up at Donovan (as well as he could, since he really couldn't see anything at all). "I think he was sleeping, too," he said solemnly.

"Oh probably while it was the usual it was still a long trip," Donovan murmured.

Though it clicked in belatedly that Timaeus had moved (though it made sense) he probably should have also realized it would have made sense for Alyse to be visiting Timaeus. The two could probably related better with each other, he scratched the back of his head as he turned and knocked on Timaeus' door.

There was a bit of a wait before the door opened this time, and it was Alyse herself who appeared, framed by the sunlight that was streaming in through the window on the far wall.

"Donovan," she smiled. "And Ruque. I supposed it's time for us to go back home?"

Timaeus appeared behind her, looking a little tired but awake enough to have at least a bit of energy.

"Hey," Donovan nodded, "Yea, Ruque's ready to go back, he's been helping Miyu the whole time."

Though he was also sure it was the excitement that also made the whole thing tiring.

"I'll be coming along too."

Alyse smiled and nodded. "All right." She turned back to Timaeus and gave him a quick hug. "I'll see you tomorrow," she promised as she stepped out the door.

"Tomorrow," Timaeus agreed, and with a final wave he closed his door quietly.

The darkness lasted only a moment, as Alyse began to use the wishsong to light the corridor. With her help it was not long at all before they made it outside and into the fading sunlight.

He wondered... but Donovan wasn't one to jump to conclusions, he still maintained that since the two were close in age that they could related to each other. Besides, it was nice to talk to someone sometimes who wasn't family.

"Time flies," he murmured noting the fading sun, he looked down at Ruque, "Let's go, I'm sure you'll have a lot to tell your folks."

Ruque grinned up at Donovan, releasing his coat and walking with his hands behind his back again.

"Lots," he agreed. "Mama will be real proud of me, I think. Because I did what she taught me to do. She's a good teacher."

Alyse smiled at Ruque. She found him quite endearing - and very cute. "And I'm sure you're a very good student," she winked at him. Then she turned to Donovan. "I hear the trip went well," she commented. "How did Lin handle it?"

"As well as can be expected," Donovan admitted, "She didn't panic or freeze up, but the trip back she had sleeping problems, but so did Celebor when he went so I'm not too worried yet. I'm just waiting to see what will happen in the days to come, you know traveling is a good distraction and so are the kids."

So she probably hadn't thought about it yet.
