Chloe's eyes softened. "ah... don't worry, you don't have to speak if you don't want to." her mind drifted. "I'm pretty sure I know how you feel." she said gazing out the window. "don't be afraid of us, they might seem a little creepy," she indicated to Sam and Souma, "But they're actually nice- well, they don't get along too well but...." Chloe glared into space.

She was surprised at first that she could hear anything. "What for?" she asked. "You didn't do anything wrong, at least not to us."

Sam crossed his arms. "I heard it." he said, "What is it? your other personality or something?" he asked.

"Shadow?" Chloe asked, looking to Sam and Souma for an answer. her eyes were worried, she saw that look, harder than hers had ever been, but somewhat the same, and she didn't like it.

Sam answered, "Could be anything, he might be possessed or hold some dark power or something, could be something less threatening." he turned to Sato. "Let me say this, whatever was talking to you, its poisoning your mind, and we do not want to hurt you. however, if you attack us we will retaliate." Sam's eyes were sad. *I really don't want to have to hurt him...* he thought.

Chloe sat down next to Sato very slowly. she took in a deep breath and turned to him. "Sato, I don't know what happened to you, or what you're thinking but I want to tell you a story. Can i tell you a story?" she asked him softly.

Chloe cleared her throat and began. "Well, there was this girl. her mother died when she was young and her father was mad, like insane mad not angry mad." she clarified. "her father would torment her, showing her things, a little girl should never see." Chloe's eyes burned with a subtle fire. "she was different from others too, she didn't know why and for as long as she could remember she's always been an outcast, always shunned by everyone, but she liked it that way. she finally escaped her father and went to live with her uncle and aunt. nothing changed for her, she had nightmares all the time but she'd forget them, but they kept on getting worse each time. she got in trouble for drawing things, disturbing images that she had seen in her past. eventually people didn't talk to her, didn't look at her, they didn't even acknowledge her existence, but she got used to it, and preferred it that way. but one day she met someone. he found her and started talking to her. he said that he wanted to be friends, but she didn't really like the idea. no one had ever wanted to be her friend before, and she didn't know how to act around him. but he made her realize that she was empty and before she knew it she cared for him, first as a friend, and then more."
Chloe would've blushed but she didn't feel any heat come to her cheeks. "I suppose what i'm trying to say is that I would like to be your friend. I want to get to know you and i want you to be able to trust us, as we trust in each other." she said. "Even if we are of mixed races, none of that matters."

Cassie's eyes softened. she wanted to hug him but stopped short, settling for just placing a hand on his back. "History doesn't always repeat itself." she murmured gently.
