Lore chuckled at that, that was one way of putting it. It was already so large... like a pillow a part of him had htought in the beginning a large soft pillow.
"Soon..." he murmured, "It sounds like all of us are looking toward to it."
Us he meant the two of them and the baby(s).

"I'd say so," Elnara murmured, sighing and leaning against Lore again. "I mean ... I know it's almost over ... but at the same time it almost feels like it will never come, like I'll be pregnant and exhausted forever."
Suddenly she smiled. "Maybe after Ulani's gone again, we could go for a bit of a walk," she suggested, "even if it's just to the river or something ... I feel a lot better now than I was before, thanks to you ... and I feel like it's been forever since I left this couch."
Indeed it seemed she spent all of her time there, except for at night when she went to bed, and mealtimes.

Just at that moment, the front door opened again and Serenity's voice called out, "I'm back, and I have Ulani with me ..."
A moment later the two women appeared, and though Ulani lookd quite relaxed and cheerful, Serenity looked a little anxious - though she was of course worried about her daughter and grandchild(ren).

He understood why Serenity was so worried, after all if it was that time it was far too early.
"Do you need me to move?"

Ulani smiled and shook her head, sitting on the table and gently budging Elnara's feet to the floor.
"I'm fine here," she assured Lore. "Besides, it's best if I can sit across from her instead of beside her. More comfortable that way."
She reached into the neck of her shirt and pulled out a tiny leather pouch. She opened it carefully and dumped its contents into her palm, then held it out to show the two what it was: white Elfstones.
"Master Stones," she murmured reverently. "The power of every kind of Elfstones, all in one set."
They were the same size and shape as Lothiriel's had been, but rather than being a midnight blue, they were a white so pure that they almost seemed to glow, even dormant. Yet their whiteness was not solid: they almost seemed like a vapour, or a smoke, or even a liquid, with hints of other colours swirling in their midsts.

Elnara crossed her ankles and looked at Ulani warily.
"They aren't going to affect the baby at all, are they?" she asked hesitantly. "I mean ... using magic on an unborn baby ... can have some effects, can't it?"
That was after all why she refused to shapeshift while she was pregnant ...

Lore couldn't help but wonder what that said about Ulani to have stones like that. He nodded a bit as he stayed by Elnara's side holding her hand. He could understand Elnara's worry, especially since she and her mother were a special case.
That and it was something Gaians also worried about regularly. He didn't say anything but waited for Ulani's answer.

Ulani smiled. She could understand Elnara's worry.
"No effect at all," she assure her and Lore warmly. "They are elfstones, after all ... they're already as much a part of him or her as anything else. Mind, body, and spirit ... that's all."
She held the stones in one hand and reached for Elnara's hand with the other. "Now ..." she murmured softly, nodding encouragingly for Elnara to take her hand.

Elnara glanced worriedly at Lore, not quite reassured by Ulani's words, but she reached forward obediently and took Ulani's hand with both of hers, though she would have much rather held Lore's.
"I'm ready," she murmured softly, though she wasn't sure if she was being entirely honest.

Lore trusted Ulani, because she knew more about elfstones than he did, and he had been using it for far... far longer. The fact she was quite old in that aspect he knew she had enough experience and probably understood the nature better than he.
"I'm right here," he reminded Elnara noting she did seem a bit... nervous.

Elnara smiled at Lore, a nervous smile, but at his reminder she did feel a lot better, and she allowed herself to relax. After all, it wasn't as if Ulani was doing something invasive ... all she was doing was holding her hands.
She nodded again, this time certain that she truly was ready.

Ulani smiled and closed her eyes, holding Elnara's hands loosely in her one.
"Just relax," she murmured softly, clutching her stones in her other hand. "Just breathe slowly ..."
Suddenly the stones began to glow a faint green, and Ulani went silent as her mind swept through from her own body to Elnara's. She checked everything that she would be able to, everything that she thought might need checking, and then she swept from Elnara's body to the babies' - and indeed, there were two of them.
A few minutes later, she opened her eyes again and smiled, closing her fist around her Stones and cutting off their light.
"You're fine," she grinned. "And so are the babies. They are anxious to come out, however ... you should be looking at only a few more weeks, at most."

Lore didn't miss the implications of it, there had been suspicions that maybe there would be twins, but now it was truly confirmed. He smiled widely.
"That is great news," he chuckled, "And there are two."
He really need to start thinking of more names... and help out in the naming.

Elnara could feel Ulani's mind sweeping through her body, and it was the strangest thing she had ever felt - but at Ulani's news, a wide smile spread over her face, and her eyes grew bright.
"Twins?" she laughed. "And they're just fine ..."
She couldn't have had better news.
She turned her eyes to Lore, her expression so filled with love and excitement that there was no need for her to speak.

Ulani grinned and put her stones back in their pouch.
"And twins tend to be early," she winked teasingly, "so you make sure you're not too far from the house for a while, all right?"
She rose to her feet. "Was there anything else you needed while I'm here?" she asked them with a smile. "I can always come back if you need ..."
