Mephistophiles continued to snore. Even if Netsubo had climbed into bed with him, he was completely dead to the world.
Manta struggled with himself. Would Faust be a good father? Or would his kids end up taking care of him more than he took care of them?
Du bist tod... du bist tod..." Faust said softly in his sleep. (("du bist tod" means "you are dead."))

*tatsu chuckles at how quickly netsubo goes to sleep, he heads over near the door and leans against it, closing his eyes but not quite falling asleep*

Manta didn't know how much more he could take. He'd listened to Faust drift in and out of good and bad dreams all night, and now the fever pitch had slowed to a soft pleading, a phrase murmered over and over again that was incomprehensible to Manta but obviously meant something along the lines of "Stay here... don't leave me.... stay here... don't leave me here alone..." Manta put his hand timidly on Faust's thin shoulder. "It'll be OK," he said, even though he wasn't sure he meant it.
