On the approach to Mossdeep, I engage the jet's cloak and land it low and quiet on the beach. Xatu teleports us to the rest of the group, then I return her to her ball.

"So, what's the plan from here?" I ask no one in particular.

Arekku hopped off of and returned his Skarmory thinking he wouldn't have enough time to catch up. He continued running anyway, as fast as he could. He finally caught sight of Brian, Maddy, and Thard, "Yo!" He said falling into step behind the three.

"So, these are the strange, thunder-resistant Gyarados I've heard about? Let's see how tough they really are!"

I call out Salamence and head out to battle. When we get close to the first Gyarados, my pokemon lets out a roar, making the rampaging water-type flinch and turn to face us. It roars right back, being the intimidating tough that it is. "Salamence, don't get careless. This thing's a lot stronger than the other Gyarados we've faced. Start things off with a-"

My command was cut short by the pokemon lunging forward, wreathed in water. The hit was strong, despite the type disadvantage. Salamence winced, and Gyarados lunged in for another Waterfall strike. The second time, my pokemon was able to react with Dragon Dance. Gaining the initiative was crucial, and Salamence knew it. Just to be sure, he fired off a second dance, taking an Aqua Tail slap for his trouble.

Now in close quarters, Gyarados didn't have room to dodge, and my pokemon gouged away with Dragon Claw. The wild thing shrieked in pain and gathered all its power inside its jaws. A Hyper Beam caught Salamence square in the chest, knocking him flat. It was Xatu's turn.

She unleashed her Psychic fury and took down the beast. This got the attention of a second Gyarados nearby. It raged over and blasted my bird with a mighty Flamethrower. The hit was much stronger than I expected. Xatu was nearly ready to collapse, but told me, "Worry not. I forsee this creature's defeat." Gyarados knocked her out with Hydro Pump.

"Vader, looks like you're up!" My first and most trusted pokemon burst from its Aqua Ball, ready for action. "Give it a taste of its own medicine!" The Crobat generated an orb of mysterious light and caused it to dance around Gyarados' head, confusing it. Muddled by Confuse Ray, Gyarados shook about, injuring itself with its great power. With the enemy distracted, Vader swooped in and slashed away with Cross Poison. Gyarados howled in pain, but was unable to fight through its confusion. As Xatu foretold, the pokemon was hit by her Future Sight attack, aiding in its defeat. Once more, Vader attacked his opponent. This time, the poison took hold and began weakening the Water-type more quickly. However, Gyarados also snapped to its senses and rained a Thunderbolt down on my Crobat. Hurt but still capable of fighting, my stalwart pokemon struck again. Gyarados seemed about to faint, but summoned enough power to knock out my pokemon with Flamethrower. It then succumbed to the poison and was out.

Arekku pulls out two pokeballs running over to try and get the attention of two of the Gyarados. "Go! Tama and Shin!" The Exeggutor and Claydol came out of their pokeballs. "Both of you get their attention with Psychic!" Both of the pokemons' eye's lit up in a bright blue and shot a powerful psychic power that knocked two of the Gyarados out of the water. The two angrily got back into the water and one shot at Hyper beam at Shin. Shin was tossed back into a house, but not hard enough to damage the house itself. "Shin!" The other Gyarados dove out of the water heading for Tama with a thrash attack. Tama was able to dodge around him for a few seconds but as it's tail came around behind he had nowhere to go and was hurt pretty bad. "Tama!"

The Two backed off a little and Tama moved a little, barely getting back up. "Tama! Leech Seed!" Tama took a deep breath and shot the seeds from the top of his head to latch onto the Thrashing Gyarados. "Shin! Charge Beam!" Shin floated as fast as he could to the edge of the water and shot the electrical beam into the face it's attacker, luckily Shin got a Sp. Attack boost he would need. The seeds took effect and helped to restore a little bit of Tama's health. The first Gyarados had to take a little while to recover from his previous attack. The Thrashing Gyarados moved at Tama again, leaving at path of destruction in his wake. Tama was flung by the first hit into a large tree. At that he passed out, Arekku returned him, muttering something. The Gyarados calmed down, getting confused. "Shin! Charge Beam again!" Shin charged more electrical power and blasted a more powerful beam at the same Gyarados as before. The Gyarados seemed like it was going to be able to withstand it but soon flashed a bright white light and reverted back into a Magikarp. "Shin?" He pokemon looked at him and seemed to nod.

The Gyarados' energy was sapped a little, Shin's health improving some. It still attacked. Gathering water in it's mouth and shooting it at a high velocity at Shin, who couldn't take the pressure. Shin finally fainted. "You did an awesome job Shin..." Said Arekku returning the pokemon.

He turned to the Gyarados, "Alright, try this on for size!" He tossed another pokeball and out came a huge pokemon, Arekku's Wailord, Wiley. Gyarados tried another Thrash attack but failed in it's attempts and hurt itself by running into a rocky part of the shoreline. "Wiley! Body Slam!" Wiley moved back a little and dove on top of the enemy with a powerful Body Slam. Gyarados lit up and reverted back to a Magikarp. Arekku turned to see where everyone else went.

Maddy took a Pokeball out of her pocket and tossed it. The red-and-white contraption opened to reveal Tiresias. The Kadabra turned and stared into the glaring face of a red Gyrados. He used Psybeam, striking it right between the eyes. The Gyrados reeled backwards, wrought with confusion. It smashed it's face into the ground, dealing damage to itself. Tiresias used Psychic, dealing a critical hit. Gyrados roared and unleashed a powerful Hyper Beam, sweeping the area with it and hitting Tiresias hard. Tiresias used Recover, restoring half of his health, to take advantage of Gyrados recharging. He then used Shadow Ball, hitting the beast in the head. Gyrados recovered from his confusion and his previous attack and used Dragon Dance, making itself more powerful and faster. Tiresias used Barrier, increasing his defense. Gyrados struck hard with Aqua Tail, water swirling around his tail and sending Tiresias flying. Tiresias was panting hard, ready to call it quits. He used Energy Ball, the green glob of energy dealing a critical hit and fainting his opponent. Maddy returned Tiresias. "Sorry buddy, but you need all the training you can get."

Another Gyrados approached, and Maddy decided to go with one of her more powerful Pokemon. "Go, Eteocles!" The Luxray leapt from his Pokeball and growled at his opponent. He used Swagger, making his opponent more powerful but confusing it. Gyrados roared and slapped itself in the face with it's own tail, dealing heavy damage. Eteocles let out a little growl that sounded like a laugh, and leapt up onto the Gyrados' back, releasing a powerful Discharge attack. Gyrados roared with pain and turned its head, firing a burst of blue fire from it's maw and sending Eteocles flying off it's back. Eteocles quickly recovered from the blow and used Rain Dance, storm clouds gathering and pouring rain onto them all. Gyrados used Water Pulse, hitting Eteocles with pulsating waves of water. Eteocles let out a roar, a powerful thunderbolt raining down from the sky and striking Gyrados with perfect accuracy. Gyrados roared and hurt itself again in it's confusion. Eteocles curled up and went to sleep, restoring all of his health. Gyrados recovered from confusion and used Bite, choming down on Eteocles and throwing him aside. Eteocles used a powerful Snore attack, fainting his opponent. Maddy recalled her sleeping companion and returned to her teammates.

In response to Brian's question, "Not a problem for me." She blasted it open with a fireball comprised of black and dark red flame.

I return to the group and seen the scattered remains of the building's door.
"Doesn't anyone appreciate subtlety anymore?" I sigh, stepping through after the others.

Me: That Red Gyrados are hard to take down...
*I see a few security guards tied up and gagged*
Me: And security isn't as good as it used to be.
