He is one of those actors just like Jack Nickleson, Johnny Depp, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt. Past their use by date, and only have one character they play over and over, yet all the screaming fangirls/guys love them.

I disagree Laz, I think Jack, Johnny, even Matt and Brad are decent actors, maybe not great but decent. They at least have the ability show some freakin emotion which Keanu... well he doesn't.
edit: that's actually downplaying the fact that I think Jack Nicholson and Johnny Depp are great actors.

I never said they were bad actors. Especially Johnny I think he is rather good. It's jsut they get stuck on this one road. They don't know how to play other characters. They play the same one for so long that its the only role people end up giving them and whenever you here "Oh Johnny Depp is in a new movie" You think to yourself "So what kind of drunk/crazy/oddball character is he playing this time?" I'd love to see Johnny do something new that is out of his normal character cause he could do. Find a nice Romantic Drama or Arthouse film to star in Johnny.
EDIT:
@ Jaft: Oh I still enjoy watching them also. I just get a little bored of their characters becasue you can sort of guess waht this character will do based on waht the actor usually does. There is rarely something unexpected.
@ Bass: You win a cookie. I can't wait to see Yes Man xd

xd Jim Carrey is a possibly great actor in need of an even better director. And I think Brad Pitt is a fine actor; I'm rather looking forward to seeing The Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons, and Johnny Depp is a lot of fun to watch. Jack Nicholson needs someone to remind him to be an actor and not a caricature of himself. smile Matt Damon... I don't know he's ever had a role where he's needed to act, really.

Jim does seem to get typecast though. He generally plays very similar characters.
S'not a bad thing, the characters are pretty funny. xd
EDIT: And with that, I go sleepies. 3nodding Nightybyes~

@ aretoo: I also wish to see The Curious case of etc. It looks rather good. And I think Jim Carrey is a great actor. He was once one of those who always played the same cahracter but over the years he has grown and changed. And he hasn't just stuck to his flamboyant comedy. He branched out and did some other movies. Some where good some were flops. Enternal Sunshine of the spotless Mind and The Number 23 respectively.
EDIT: Adam Sandler is another example of someone who has changed. He has learned he doesn't have to be a loud mouth all the time to make good movies. He too has made some better than others but now days he doing disney movies even. I think he has become a great actor.

@Laz that's not necessarily their fault though, usually the people who do the casting end up typecasting actors. They get stuck with those roles its not that they choose those roles
Jim Carrey is hilarious, I just don't think he can play a serious part without goofing off at least a little.

See you bass!
@ Sanzo: Oh I certainly agree the fault lies partly with casting for sure.

I have yet to see him in The Man In The Moon, 23, or Eternal Sunshine, but an early example of what he CAN do was in The Truman Show.
Aaaaand from WAY early on in his career was Doing Time on Maple Drive (kinda in the middle of his In Living Colors years)
EDIT: 'Night, Mike, sleep tight! mrgreen

I saw The Truman Show and I think he did a really great job, I did see him add a bit of his custom sillyness though, like that scene where he's playing with the bathroom mirror.

Yes the Truman Show was a good movie. I think thought the movie wasn't supposed to be completely serious anyway. It sorta needed that bit of witty and silly humour to keep it interesting.
