Silence followed. Toby was curious and so, at the moment, didn't turn Kevin away. The door was probably locked anyway, and it wasn't like he was going inside.

Kevin started to frown. He looked to Toby in concern. "Are you sure he's here?" he asked, doubdoubtfully. Had the ghost suddenly moved on? He knocked on the door again and waited.

Toby nodded. Whenever Michael was feeling overwhelmed, he ran for his attic. Two knocks, though, would certainly bring some reaction, right?
Oh, there it was. Toby stepped back as blood began to pour out from under the door and onto the carpet. The door juddered four times hard, shaking the frame.
Yup, Michael was there.

Kevin backed away from the door and moved behind Toby. He peered out from behind him. "What's he doing?" he asked. "Where's all the blood coming from?"
Maybe Michael was making sacrifices to whatever thing ghosts prayed to. He didn't want to be the next

Illusion.
Toby held the board in front of Kevin's eyes, then covered his view with it and closed his own. Predictably, the blood was gone, and the door showed no damage.
Toby gestured with a big paw. See?
He doesn't want company. We can check on Monday?"

Kevin was in between impressed and a little frightened. So Michael could do illusion things? Cause hallucinations? Awesome!
"Yeah. Yeah, let's check Monday." He looked up to Toby, "What do you want to do now?"

Really Toby didn't want to invite Kevin to go swimming. He tapped his hairy wrist. What time was it?

Kevin took out his phone and looked at the time. "Almost nine," he said. "When do you have to go back?"

Kevin looked disappointed. "Aw, alright," he said. "But you'll come see me Monday when we ask Michael to prank Lori with us?"

Toby nodded and the corners of his lips stretched back and turned up. It wasn't a natural smile, but if Dari could learn to react with unnatural facial expression, so could he.
Somehow he doubted that Kevin would want to go swimming, regardless of who could physically drown who.
He put a hand of Kevin's back and started to walk with him back toward the apartments.

"You should come for dinner more often," Kevin invited. "I think real cheese would be better in mac and cheese. Do you know how to make it without a box?"

Toby nodded again. He forced the same smile and wrote Next week? He didn't usually make so many stops in with entities, but some seemed to need it. Maia had been one of them. Kevin was another, and he was stuck at HQ. Ivy needed it too from time to time. Maybe Kevin wouldn't mind inviting another pretty girl over, regardless of the state of her legs.

Kevin nodded. He gave Toby a smile and hugged him once they reached his appartment. He unlocked the door and stepped inside. "See you Monday!"

Toby returned the hug, and Kevin felt like a tiny doll in his arms. Moments like these made him realize how young the kelpie really was. He wrote Sleep well! on his board and then waved with his free hand before heading off. He really did have to go check on the boys.
