[There was an eruption of flying feathers and screeches, for as Talon leapt at Avalon, a wave of hidden birds leapt murderously at the flock. Talon had brought his shadows, and they attacked the flock mercilessly. Enraged, fighting erupted amongst the flock members against Talon's shadows.
Birds screeched as Talon was pushed off by Fester. Several flew forward and surrounded Avalon, protecting her from Fester. Galestar dashed from the scene, pelting through the underbrush without a trace during the mayhem.
Avalon stood and nodded to Roc.]
"Well done, Roc," she praised simply.
Turning to her flock, Avalon screeched in a booming shriek loud enough to be heard from very far away, "ENOUGH!"
[Her voice rang through the clearing and made every bird freeze. They turned to look at her.]
Facing Talon's flock, Avalon said coldly, "Do you see now? Talon never meant to save you. He is greedy. He wants nothing but power. You mean as little to him as the rocks under his talons."
[Avalon paced slowly, her eyes sharply glancing at her former flock members.]
"Do you ever wonder why we don't kill you?" she snapped harshly. "Why we don't hunt you down as you hunt us? Why every time we capture one of you in our territory, we simply injure you and let you free?"
Avalon let out a screech loud enough to raise the featherfur of all the birds and said harshly, "It is because we are one!"
Her eyes glared at them with hate and love, a very passionate combination, and she continued, "What else could we do? We could not slaughter you, kill you! We care for you. What has our goal been? Do you think we like to keep you away from safety, away from happiness? We do not find pleasure in your pain. It is quite the opposite. We have suffered as you have. Yes, we are in a safer canyon with plentiful food, but I cannot describe the mourning and birds who died of heartache because of this split. We were all once one! And who tore us apart? Talon! And why? Because he wanted me. He wanted me, and power. He could not have me. So what next was there?"
[Avalon sighed and stared at them with a resigned and tortured look.]
"Now he has shown his true feathers. So? Are you going to continue to forsake us? You hardly wonder why the war started in the first place. No doubt Talon has told you lies. It started because he tried to kill me. And then fighting erupted...if you think we forced you out because of any other reason, it was a lie. We forced those out who sided with Talon. We did not even kill you."
Turning, Avalon snapped, "Consider this, then! After all your sufferings, and all your struggle, what now do you live for when you now see your entire life with him was a lie?"
Raising her head, Avalon spread her wings out and cried, "Brothers and Sisters, return to us. Return to us in the glory canyon. We cannot survive without our flockmates. Too much has been lost. Leave that monster and return to us!"
[Galestar huffed as he dashed into BreezeClan camp. He was bruised and exhausted, but he pushed through the shocked cats to Pebbleheart.]
"Fighting," he gasped. "Birds. Coming. Or leaving. Can't tell-they're here-the Clan-"
[With a woosh, the missing leader collapsed upon the ground, his body drained from running with all his might. He had come to warn them. If the fight got too out of hand, it was likely Talon's flock would lash out at the Clans, or at least that's what he thought.]

[Mewkit gasped, scampering over to Wolfkit with wonder and anxiety. "What is happening? Where's Smokekit!" [Mewkit's blueish aqua eyes darted towards the nursery as she raced into it along with Fallingkit. Her pink tinted pelt pricked with curiosity as she looked from the nursery opening. What was going to happen to their leader. Mewkit hissed with annoyance as she tried tog et a bigger picture.]
