Hmm... must be a recent change.
Originally it was just the equivalent of gold plating; hence why only masters really had it.

AS long as it isn't touching your blades, Cortosis would still work...

elvisnake AS long as it isn't touching your blades, Cortosis would still work... Its frail though.

You know, it comes to mind that the use of miniscule lightsabers would make dentistry as we know it completely obsolete.

Well, they're already starting to use lasers in high-end dentistry nowadays. It just costs a fortune, you need a special practioner who knows what they're doing, and the laser is barely powerful enough to chew through a tooth in ten minutes, much less bruise your gums.
