"You're back," Cody echoed, smiling. Dari was back, and he was safe and-- Cody renewed his hold on Dari once he was back on the ground. He pressed against him, as if trying to reassure himself that this was real.
'I've missed you' didn't cut it. The days Dari had been gone had been the most terrifying in his life. And then Toby had almost died. "I love you!"

Dari would have kissed him again if it weren't for the death grip around his chest. He chuckled and kissed the top of Cody's head instead.
"I love you too! It was so hard without you, but I'm back now." He said it a third time, as if that would make it somehow more real. "Everybody's home, everything's good, and I'm back." A fourth time for good measure.

"Will you stay tonight?" Cody asked, His voice sounding somewhat thicker than usual. As if he'd come down with a sudden cold. He was so glad to have Dari back. He released his grip on Dari to wipe at his eyes, taking Dari's hand and dragging him inside.
"Look. I got us some camping gear."

"Sure..." Dari looked own at his love and looked immediately both sympathetic and charmed. He followed Cody inside as if he'd had a choice and laughed.
"Oh good, so we're still on? We might want to wait until after the meteor shower, though." He paused. "Or maybe we should go to watch it?" Damn. What a double-bind!

"Yeah," Cody said. He paused. Meteor shower? "What meteor shower?" he asked. He didn't let go of Dari's hand, as if releasing his hold on him would cause Dari to disappear. "We could go watch it."

Hm.
"Yeah, there's one in a few days. Toby's going to propose," Dari said with a smile. "He probably wouldn't miss me if we were in our place, but I'd definitely have to call him." Marriage was a huge step for Toby, considering his past, but he was sure. Dari had even helped him doctor the lenses.
"They're going to use my telescope, though..."

"Really?" Cody hadn't paid much attention to--anything, really, since Dari had left. "Oh, congratulate him for me!" He smiled. Toby was alright, then! "Maybe we should go after the meteor shower? So you can be there for him."

"Nah, he won't need me. It's not like she'll say no, I mean she already gave him her--" Pelt. "heart." Err, sure. That sounded hokey as hell but it worked. "It'll be good for them, and I'm sure we'll get a picture at least." Well, maybe. They might be too involved in watching the meteor shower, especially after Toby removed the film from the inner lens.
"Oh, here." Dari pulled up his phone with one hand, more than ready to change the subject, and showed Cody a picture Toby had taken to send to various coworkers and friends who had heard the rumor that he had been hurt. He had specifically said to show it go Cody.
It was just Toby in casual wear, grinning and throwing a thumbs-up while holding up sign that said 'I'm not dead!'

Dari was lucky Cody didn't notice the almost slip.
Cody studied the picture and smiled. "He's alright! You sounded like he was dying," he looked to Dari, then back to Toby. "Do secret agent hospitals have secret agent miracle cures?"

"He really was headed downhill for a couple of days there, but we have some pretty amazing surgeons." And at least one good healer on staff. "I mean, he was shot twice. There's gauze and stitches under that shirt." And, if Cody asked, on the arm you couldn't see all of in the picture.
"He wanted me to show that to you."

"I'm glad he's okay." So glad. "Thank him for me. But you probably should tell him I've kidnapped you for the rest of the night." Worrying in his state was no good.
He kissed Dari's cheek. "I love you, baby."

Dari immediately began one-handed texting Toby about how he wouldn't be back tonight. Toby had already teased him about how it'd probably happen, but it was nice to let him know for sure. That done, he turned and kissed Cody's temple.
"So what are we going to do today?"

Cody considered the question for a long moment. "We're not going to do anything," he said, kissing Dari's cheek. Cuddle and spend time together; eat and snuggle. He pulled down onto the couch next to him. "We're going to sit right here and be together."
