ashlander_alpha eek Wow, a tie so far? I'm surprised, I thought this was gonna be a landslide for Candlemass. Especially since the tracks on the Katatonia myspace are actually gothic metal.

Candlemass because of their legacy, though I do not personally enjoy their music; they are a good band.

My Hollow Candlemass because of their legacy, though I do not personally enjoy their music; they are a good band. Plus those two other bands would be a lot different if it weren't for Candlemass.

Eh, I think death/doom was pretty inevitable since a lot of the early death/doom was just slowed down death metal. Really, I would think death/doom would have to give its props to bands like Winter and Autopsy for that particular side of death/doom. I guess you could say that Candlemass helped build a certain "theatrics" for that other side of death/doom.
idk, just my thoughts, i'm running at the mouth. my point is, i don't think candlemass could have affected the development of death/doom all that much.

Well, I didn't mean every band, just the ones that actually have doom in them, it tends to be candlemass-esque epic doom riffs, from what I've heard at least.
