Masanori entered the housing district together with his newly aquired friend, Shin. "Yes, the rope escape.. technqiue. Whatever tips you got are better than no tip at all" he smiled politely. "Should we begin right away?" he stopped in his movments infront of an alleyway where in the corner of his eye had stopped at a single rope.

"Sure man, its a really easy technique. I'll help you out in any way I can."

He gave his fellow student a brotherly pat on the back, following him without really paying attention to where they were going. That was until he was standing behind Masanori in the mouth of an alley in which there sat a length of rope.

"Did you put this here or is this just random coincidence or...."

His eyes narrowed and he began to search the shadows for some sign of a hidden assailant or trap.

"Uhm.. No I guess it is just a coincidence?" he looked at his partner with a worried look, "who would've set a rope-trap in an alley, and that alley being in one of an housing district? That would be barbaric. Innocent kids could wander off into it. No sir." he walked towards the rope and with no sense of fear in his body - he janked it and walked back to show it to Shin. "Now teach!" he joked, with a friendly smile.

Shin held up his suspicious air for a moment, and upon perceiving no threat, he visibly relaxed.

"Yea, that would be either a pretty stupid or pretty cruel trap."

Returning his gaze to the alley itself and the rope that lay on floo—was held firmly in the grasp of his overeagear peer in front of him.

"Alrite, alrite. But before we get into working out the actual jutsu, lets brush on chakra control as its a very important part of this jutsu."

Then Shin began to mold his chakra into a ram handseal, to get his mind and body prepared for the jutsu he was about to show Masanori. He'd motion with his head, directing his buddy to work on it as well.

17d20 + 3 = 20. Success.
DC: 10 + 3 = 13.
4/5.

It bothered him some that he was asked to mold chakra, an excersise he'd been far too long in his own mind. It bothered him some that his teacher was a student. It bothered him some that Hiru, and this guy, was far greater than himself in skill. "Sure! I'll get right on it" but he did his best to hide his feelings from expressing themselves in his face.

Walked to the nearest wall to lean on it, then held the bird seal to concentrate. It was his favorite seal, not only beacuse of it's beauty, but because of the way he could feel the chakra moving a way that no other seal could feel. Since it was to mold chakra I guess he was just to start and get this thing overwith. He started to mix his two chakra's together to then force them to his palms and then to shown to the naked eye. A thick, blue chakra line could be seen on the context of Masanori's hands, from his wrists to the tip of his fingers.

9d20 + 3 = 12. Failure.
-2cp.

The effect didn't last long since he had learned just recently on how to do it, he tried once again. But to no success, it seemed as if he had lost it for a secound. Which bothered him greatly. His underaged teacher sat just a few feet away from him and he could probably see his failure at such an easy excersize. "Damnit.. Get yourself together" he thought to himself in an angry manner.

16d20 + 3 = 19. Success.
But then again the blue line appeared around his hands and the strange feeling of chakra began to crawl around his forearms and stomach. "Hrm.. So now.. Just to hold it for a while" the way he figured he could substain the visiblechakra would be to just FEEL the rightly balanced amount of spiritual and physical chakra, he tried to memorise it over and over again in his head. So even after this time he could produce the chakra again.

11d20 + 3 = 14. Success.
It seemed as if the chakra molding wasn't much of a challenge for him anymore. He felt that he had utter control over this exercise, but that would perhaps be just this one occasion. "Dum-di-di-dum" since the molding of chakra had become such an ease for him, his wanted to test himself if he could still mold chakra without paying as much attention. He sifted his gaze towards teh sky and continued on his alltime-loving diddy and when he looked down after a couple of brief secounds, the blue shining chakraaura was still there.

20d20 + 3 = 23. Success.
"Just a few more minutes and then I'll be done." he had been leaning against the wall for about ten minutes, he wanted to test himself if he could walk aswell. He noticed his partner being busy with his own training and Masanori didn't mind at all if he payed attention to his new training. He walked with his seal still intact and started to walk slowly, one step at the time, focusing intensely with the chakra that was flowing through his finger tips.

13d20 + 3 = 16. Success.
DC13-DC12.
5/5. Complete.

He wanted to take his last few moments seriously, so he sat down in a standard meditation posistion. With his legs crossed and his eyes closed. His goal now was to increase the amount of chakra that was turning visibile, like he had did the time at the academy. After a while of sitting still, the blue chakra around his hands began to move uptowards his forearms, bieceps, triceps, shoulders, neck, cheeks, scalp until all of the context of Masanori was blue. He sprung open his eyes, and in a short moment the chakra line expanded fivefolds to then dissapear. His eyes shifted towards Shin who was not yet done, he waited.

Shin was oblivious to his "students" inner thoughts, but not to his training as by this point it was assumed that a student would know how to mold their chakra. The point of this exercise was not to teach his fellow student anything new but to freshen up on the basics in order to allow the new technique to be learned quicker. As well, one could never have too much chakra control. And thus Shin was doing the exercise right along side his peer.

Quote:
Chakra Control
DC: 10, Roll = 16

The best shinobi were the ones who trained the most, sticking to their task as diligently as possibly and trying their hardest to push themselves everyday. And as such, Shin set a high bar for himself in order to grow strong with this exercise rather than just refreshing his body and mind. Instead of performing to earlier standards of what he must accomplish in this training session, he applied himself to push himself just as hard as he had when he first learned this technique. So although his skill level was different, the difficultly was about the same.

Quote:
Chakra Control
DC: 11, Roll = 19
Pass!, 2/5 Successes

However it seemed that either he was very lucky or very skilled indeed for even as he raised the bar, he surpassed it just as easily as if he hadn't raised it in the first place. Maybe it was simply a difference within himself, a difference in his mental and physical fiber. He was made of much tougher stuff than he had been when he first started training and thus it seemed he was able to sustain more difficulty without breaking or even cracking. This exercise was so easy, he wasn't even beginning to sweat or show signs of tiring.

Quote:
Chakra Control
DC: 12, Roll = 20
Pass!, 3/5 Successes

He made the handsigns. He drew out his chakra. He molded his chakra through the handsign and expressed it as a multitude of animal shapes such as a butterfly or an octopus. Then he cut off the flow of chakra, unclasped his hands and started anew. Over and over and over he performed the exercise, each time upping the anti and making the task more challenging for himself. However he showed no signs of failing or stopping or even slowing. He was like the energizer bunny, he just kept going and going and going....

Quote:
Chakra Control
DC: 13, Roll = 13
Pass!, 4/5 Successes

Maybe it was his cockiness or maybe it was his loss of interest in his exercise or maybe he was setting the bar too high or maybe it was just his time. Whatever the reason, on what was his fifth and should have been his fifth iteration of the exercise, Shin failed to mold his chakra correctly. He had made the handsign and released his chakra from his numerous chakra nodes but he could not seem to form a proper shape. His chakra visualized into what could only be called a sad imitation of an ink puddle.

Chastened by his previous failure, Shin approached the exercise with a renewed vigor. He no longer simply went through the motions but actually concentrated and worked towards continually improving himself. He was no simply satisfied with releasing a bit of chakra and making party favors but he now made things with a purpose. He began by forming his chakra into the shape of a kunai and then a sword and then a paper bomb. On and on he went, making a multiple of usable shapes, or rather the images of usable objects with his chakra. Or would have had he not finished the exercise, but he was tentative in his completion. He might resume the practice if his "student" lingered.

"Done." Masanori said with a tone of exhausted voice. He brushed off the dust from his manchester pants when he had risen from the ground. "I'd like to get on with the rope escaping technique now" his words might have seem harsh, stiff and cold. But his tone of voice was nothing but neutral, if the training they had completed just a few secounds ago was not worth his time at all.

"Good, very good. Now that we have brushed up on the basics of chakra control, its time to begin working on learning the actual jutsu. The first step of this technique to try and release yourself from a rope tie without using your chakra. This is used as a baseline to show you how life would work without this jutsu and next we will work on the actual thing."

As he spoke, Shin walked over to the piece of rope that the heavens had provided and begin to play with it in his hands. Once he was done speaking, he left a little pause before gesturing towards Masanori.

"Now show me your hands so I can tie them up and then you try to break out, using just your escape artistry."

Once Masa did as he asked, Shin would wrap his wrists up as hard as he could.

((...You know that I am ******** right?..))

13d20 - 2 = 11
DC: 15. Failure.

He felt the bones of his being pressed together tightly resulting in the painnerves around his wrists having a party sending messages to his brain. "Oh damn.. I can't concentrate with his immense pain.." he started to breath slower at the same time trying his best to not express the pain through his eyes. His first attempt resulted in him trying to simply, wiggle, out of the two holes, since him being so skinny. But in no result.

18d20 - 2 = 16
DC: 24. Failure.

His secound attempt, he tried to grab a hold of the knot with his index fingers while with his wrists creating room by pushing themselves away from eachother. He didn't manage to get the knot or create much room, the only thing that increased was the pain.

17d20 - 2 = 15
DC: 20. Failure.

This wasn't something that Masanori trained upon, nor was he going to after this technique was over. He was a man of low physical abillites which he had accepted. But now to cope with it during the first stages of being a ninja, was a surely difficult one. "Hey Shin," he said after a while of failures upon failures. "It's impossible.. Do you mind loosening them up?"

((Uhhh I probably shouldn't have put them all in one post. Because it seems to have confused you.

Basically, you have to escape three times. Each time the DC is different. But that doesn't mean the DC applies to each of your attempts one to one.

It simply means that you have to beat the first one, and then I'd retie you and then you beat the second one and so on.

For example, the firs DC is 15. Although you failed the first time, you passed on the second attempt. Then I'd tie you up again. Now the DC is 24. So your third attempt still fails but maybe you'll get lucky on your fourth and fifth and so on.

And failing an exercise is actually better than succeeding. The more failures you have, the most posts you have to make and thus the more words you write. The more words you write, the more exp you get. If it takes you 20 posts to learn this technique you might just go up a level or two.))

edit:
On second thought, I should have just not been lazy and done each exercise separately. So forget about what was said before. You passed the first one and I'll reroll the second. And then the third one when you get to it.))

His second attempt, he tried to grab a hold of the knot with his index fingers while with his wrists creating room by pushing themselves away from eachother. He didn't manage to get the knot or create much room, the only thing that increased was the pain.

Or so it seemed at first. After he weathered the first wave of pain, he'd begin to notice the tightness around his wrists slacken as he managed to get enough room for the rope to unravel. It had taken some time and a bit of effort and stamina on his part, but he had eventually got the bindings off.

"Good job man! Now lets try it again. Lets see if you can do any better."

One more Shin took the rope and binded his peer's hands together as tight as he could. Or rather as tight as he dared, knowing that the first exercise had been tasking on Masanori. He shouldn't have too much trouble getting through this knot.

"Don't give up on yourself just yet."

And if his charge kept at his work diligently, he would discover that what one seemed hard and impossible would show itself to be less so with time, practice and energy. He would be able to free himself if he applied himself.
