Elliedoll ... so I'd have to give up the Oasis that Baly helped me claim BEFORE Belrias founded the intervening village? Would you believe that that REALLY burns my biscuits? I'll believe it. I say tell him to shove it.

Alexi Terianis Why do we let people threaten us like that? Everyone has a 'bigger friend', and everyone can make threats. But as much as I'd like to avoid war, I'm not one to say that lowering our pants is the way to avoid it. We're only going to be facing more demands, until we are bigger, and stronger, than anyone around us. I don't care how powerful they are, I refuse to submit to the demands of another in this. We're an alliance, right? Not a sissy little gang of people who are afraid to lose what we've worked for, right? The way I see it, we're probably at least as close as any alliance out there. We're not weak, even though we're not the strongest. Arc has led with a sure hand, but I don't remember one instance when he did anything other than TALK to avoid a war. We aren't here to be pushed around. We have interests, as they do, and we need to defend them. If they're going to threaten us, why do we shiver in fear? Frankly, I am very tempted to send an assault force instead of a message to the next person who threatens our alliance. I hate being percieved as weak. And who knows? Maybe they'll change their tone when they realize we aren't about to fall apart at the first sign of trouble? I'm not going anywhere, dammit. Belrias claimed the oasis right next to me, so he's already ******** GOT one. He's not said a damned thing yet, and if he remains silent I'm not budging an inch. Baly sacrificed a quarter of his force to blast that oasis open for me, and I HATE waste. My trapper's just been powerboosted to L14. 18 of the 20 additional traps that entitles me are being built. Phalanxes are under construction. I'm going to gear up as much as I can in both of my villages and let the MODs sort it out. Maybe it's time I went Roddy Piper on someone: I came here to kick a** and chew bubblegum...
And I'm fresh out of gum. Evil, I may be needing those cavalry back.

He's not said a damned thing yet, and if he remains silent I'm not budging an inch. Baly sacrificed a quarter of his force to blast that oasis open for me, and I HATE waste. Apparently, Drunks wants to wipe us out, even if it's going to be a long wait to actually get any return on investment for it.
Start ramping up defenses, everyone. Teutons, start making catapults, and send them to a Gaul. Gauls, you're gonna need a LOT of phalanx.
Upgrade your walls and Masons as well. These guys can't be reasoned with - I've tried - but maybe they'll go away when they don't make as much progress as they'd hoped to.

To me it comes down to a simple risk/reward in this. Losing a farm here and there is worth it if someone has their guild looking for blood. I was willing to give up the 15wheater because I don't want anyone going to war over anything I do, I won't ask you to fight my battles for me nor will I make anyone suffer for my actions, no matter what they are.
That said, Ellie has all rights to keep that oasis and I'll be happy to send a force to reinforce it/her.

Elliedoll Arcadian Wow. Lots of bad news in such little time. On top of all this, RING and -RING- rescinded their Alliances with us, and instead offered NAPs. Ellie, if we get an NAP, you'll probably have to give up your oases to him. I really don't know what we're going to do about Drunks. They're not responding to me, and if they're not bluffing, they really could wipe us out. I'll try to call their bluff by asking whether or not it's worth wasting time destroying a rapidly growing alliance for one single 15 wheater. ... so I'd have to give up the Oasis that Baly helped me claim BEFORE Belrias founded the intervening village? Would you believe that that REALLY burns my biscuits? When I'd read that I was assuming Arc was talking about the unclaimed oases, and only if Belrias got to them first. Which, given three villages that only need HM 10, vs your one that you'd need to get up to 15, and 20, is pretty much a sure thing. The one you have is, insofar as I see it, your property, and if he instigates aggression against you over it, would violate the terms of an* NAP, giving you just cause for retaliation. Messiah: Silk has already stopped hitting Famine, from what my intelligence tells me. Alexi, I'll get something typed up in reply to your larger post in a bit, I'm ducking in here at work. *How does one use 'a' or 'an' with acronymns/initialisms? Do you use it as if you were expanding the whole word, or as if you were just pronouncing it as written?

I won't be much help in this, I'm afraid to say. But I fully support you guys taking whatever measures you need to in order to keep what you earned and invested in. In all honesty, though, I wouldn't be so quick to throw diplomacy away. If it comes to fighting, we'll fight. But there may be another solution to this that allows us to stay together and keep what we have earned.
I'm not sure what opposing alliance members are by me, or if they would waste troops attacking the smaller villages in our alliance if you guys are planning an all out offensive attack. In all honesty, it wouldn't take much to turn most of us into farms, especially considering the influx of new members we have had. I'm willing to upgrade my cranny and other non military defenses though in case something should happen. I only have 10 Phalanx and they're not really good for much except picking up a few extra resources on the side. But I'm willing to build up and wait it out if it should come to that. You have far more invested in this game than I do at the moment.
EDIT: Wow. A lot got posted while I was typing this. Nevermind. Defense!

On the other hand, it's just a game, and I do have better things to do with my time.

I'm in the process of cranking things up as much as I can, but I've never been a 'military power' in the Alliance; nearly all the battles thus far have been so far away that the only help I could be was to send reinforcement troops to act as an impromptu security force. Where the hell -ARE- these 'Drunks' idiots, anyway? OMEN hasn't said a word as yet, so we're only being targetted from one direction. I can use my smaller village as a Phalanx feeder, sending them to work as booster teams if necessary; if I lose the second village I can redo it elsewhere. Someone give me whatever intel we have?
