"We all do... Too many secrets you kept caused us more and more suffering. So speak up so we can all here you, Alianae"
Minae rested her clenched fists on her hips, impatiently waiting for a reply, while May stomped her right foot, imagining some music. She snapped out when Minae gave her a rough punch in the ribs with her elbow.
"Aye, I mean, what she said, m'lady.. I-I mean Alianae...!"

Kalco rubbed his head. This was too confusing. He rested his head against the wall and closed his eyes. What a day.

Alianae sighed. She looked at Sarea who nodded. Wards were up. Settling into a more comfortable position, she began,
"Long ago, at the end of Du Fyrn Skulblaka, the dragons and elves came together to form a binding..treaty between them. There were five who were the base of this treaty, five who would forever uphold their part. These five never truly became elves as the other Grey Folk did. And thus, they are the last five remaining Grey Folk in existence. These five became the Wardens, each with a grasp over their own section of the treaty. And we all stand here now." She looked at them all seperately.
"...Ruia" Sarea, she thought, " Warden of Magic. May. Warden of Time. Kalco, Warden of Future. Myself, the Warden of Fate and Kalios, Warden of Will. Or the Will, however you see fit to name it."
She paused. "A while after the treaty was formed, it was decided the Wardens were too dangerous and endangered. Their memories were bound fast and they were sent away to lead 'normal' lives. In this way, the Wardens have passed their soul and spirit for all these years. But he who bound them knew that one day, the knowledge of the Wardens would once more be required and so he made a key.
A key to release all those memories, however slowly or fast as required. This key, he buried within himself, just as the Wardens knowledge had been buried. It was believed that one day, fate would bring them together and their knowledge become known once more."
Sarea continued from here. "In fact, it was rumoured that Fate herself, Alianae, had never truly forgotten. It was said she simply bidded her time until the Wardens were together with the key. This key, we have reason to believe, is Sora. And of course, Minasia is the Princess of Alalea." She stopped, biting back her next few words. No, she couldn't say that yet.
"The shade who was here, just before..was bound once. But that time, not all the Wardens would participate. That is why their memories were bound, it was believed too much power would eventually turn them away from each other. After all, when they began working on the treaty, none knew the other. A couple of them were dragons, but it would be impossible to say now. It was believed Queen Tarmunora should have given them time to know each other first. This shade, I know not what name he calls himself these days, was one of the main opposers of the the treaty, of the Wardens. And so he caused havoc. Whole citys were lost and family upon family slain. Bound by all the Wardens, he would have never loosed but only bound by three, he was able to eventually shake it off. This is the enemy we now face."
Alianae took up the tale here, with an almost uncanny accuracy as if she had know where Sarea would stop. "And so, now we are faced with a predicament. I believe the Will of Alalea is missing. The shade is looking out for us, and we have a Princess to restore to the throne."

Kalco's ees widened. A Warden? Him? Wow, this was confusing. But being the Warden of Future did make sense. And the Shade....he knew he didn't kill him, he just banished him from his mind. He had only heard of one other person defeating a Shade...someone 4 or 5 years younger than himself. He tried decidig if he should tell them about his true orgin now. He thought not to, becuase if he told them what the future was like, that would probably mess up the time stream. However, if he didn't, it would always tug on the back of his mind, slowly leading him to insanity. He took a depp breath. "Yeah, about that future thing....Alianae, Ruia, would it mess up time if I told you about that?"

"Then I'll personnaly escort Minasia there where she needs to go. I'll protect her at all costs and lose my life if need be..."
Minae's mouth had now turned into a gaping whole... THE will? THE Will she was supposed to inherit?!
"WHAT?!"
Her voice echoed for miles around, but her visage was still struck by a mix of terror, anger and sadness. The Will was the only thing anyone had allowed her to touch and inherit, and now, nothing. Wind, air, NOTHING.
"I royally REFUSE to leave my only share of heritage between the hands of people I barely know! With all due respect, I can't let you go alone reclaim what is rightfully mine. Wether anyone here wants to or not... And besides; I've already gotten word that a few well-placed contacts that have just told me they saw a group of hooded men going through.... Not sure you're going to like me very much after I tell you WHERE though... Word has it they've gone underground in the hadarac desert..."

Kalios looked at Minasia. "Calm down. The Will you're thinking about is a mere piece of spelled parchment, a diminutive representative of the real Will. Nobody controls the Will, or can get it to bend, although it bends the will of others' if need be," he said, a bit surprised at his knowledge. Like everything else he was learning recently, it seemed to be released from a distant prison.
"Alright..." Sora said after her outburst. "So...how do I do my duties as supposed 'Key', then, Alianae?" he asked. "Cause I've been around him for twenty years, and the only thing he's ever had of a memory is death."

Alianae listened to them all and then closed her eyes. "No Kalco, it will not make a difference. Kalios and Sora already know anyway." She said, after a slight pause. She opened her eyes again to face Minae.
"Kalios is right. The Will you knew was simply a representative of the true Will. However, it is still vital we recover it before it falls into the wrong hands. Even a representative can cause a lot of damage. We will go after it in time. But there is something we must acomplish here, in Alalea first." She looked at Sarea. Can you explain to Sora? I don't know as much about that.
"Ah Sora, the thing is, you have released Kalios' memories. Even now they come back to him. Earlier, he had none because he did not need it, because Alagaesia and Alalea did not need it." Sarea said in reply to his question.

Kalco sighed. "So, this Will thing, what can it do exactly if it falls into the hands of evil?"

Sarea looked at Kalco. "I'm sure Kalios will be able to explain a lot better but basically, anything. Will is unlimited and thus, The Will is almost the same. But it is only a representation of the true thing so it's powers and strengths wil have limits."
Alianae asked the others, "Are there anymore questions? If so, please ask them here and now. Ruia put up a few wards so we cannot be overheard by any means. And you should probably remember, don't speak of this to others or even among yourselves unless you are warded. It is, you ould say, confidentil information.
((Could the Wil the reason Galbatorix managed to overthrow the Shur'tugals? I'm getting a ghostly impression..))

((That's a good theory...I'm gonna use it! whee ))
Something clicked in Kalco's brain. When he was walking around in Uru'baen, he remembered whispers among the other children of the Forsworn about a Will of somekind, that was Galbatorix's crushing blow against the Riders. Since he was in the past, the other's present, he could change that. "Say, is there a Rider currently named...Galbatorix?"

Alianae's attention snapped to Kalco. "No. At...present, there is no Shur'tugal by the name of Galbatorix." she said sharply.
But were we to return to Alagaesia, we would find there was? Sarea asked silently.
You know time runs differently from Alalea to Alagaesia..
I do. They don't.
Precisely my point. They can't know yet.

After a brief venture into Sora's memories of what he knew of Kalco, he replied. "If the Will was in the hand of evil, even the representative...then we can say goodbye to the Riders. The Will itself is an enourmous vat of boundless energy, which can be used by the controller for his or her bidding. However, if there happens to be too much use at one time, the Will would completely control the person. The representative was made before the Will. It's imperfect, and has no consciousness of its own, unlike the Will. It must be present at its use, while the Will can be placed remotely, and still be used. It is the base for the energy in all the world, so if anyone can control the Will, they control the enemy's magic. But the Magicks of Blue, Red, and Green will remain independent. They were created at the Dawn, while the Will was created as a product of them," he said, and then looked at the window, remembering the bright light that he saw when he became a Warden.

"Ah. Crystal clear. And if anyone doesn't mind, I'm gonna head to bed, trying not to find a Shade again." Kalco grunted as he stood up, walking up the stairs to his room, and flopping down on his bed.
