::The door of course opened presenting Datho with a view of the Doctor with a bright smile on his face. The sort of smile that rarely graced this mans features, but yet it seemed to be busting forth from cheek to cheek, and the reason was simple.::

Goodmorning Mr.Datho!

::A voice called from about the height of Sun's knee. The voice was young, and yet each syllable was perfectly announced without the slightest hint of a lisp. It can from a little boy standing beside the Doctor. He had combed red hair, though not red like Marys instead red like the Doctors beside him. He wore a nice set of green farmers pants, with suspenders, and jet black shirt with greens stripes. Much had changed about the child from when last he had Datho met, but his emerald green eyes remained almost exactly the same. And of course, other than the fact he appeared to be about 6 or 7 years old, when infact he was just born a few hours prior...the child seemed normal.::

Very good.

::The Doctor said petting the childs head.::

Such a good boy, ve vere vondering if you would like to come up to the lab vith us for a few tests. Nozhing painful, but now zhat your up and firmly on your feet, I'd like to see if ve cannot investigate zhe...less visible ailments you've suffered.

::The child excited nodded.::

Vhat do you say?
PostPosted: Tue Sep 19, 2006 3:02 pm

Sun nearly stumbled back in complete surprise at the small boy.

"G-good morning Lu...lucian?!" His eyes slanted up to the doctor, heartbeat pounding in his chest. "Good morning, Doctor." This was said a little easier, with consideration that the other man seemed to take the sudden growth in stride.

"O-okay, I'll come." The promise of finding out more about what was wrong with his mind, the easing of pain...he would have done just about anything for that.

"Anything to...help?"

Correct! Zhe grow up so fast nowadays.

::The Doctor said with a bit of a laugh. Lucian again nodded excitedly. He was happy Mr.Datho remembered him, because he sure remembered Mr.Datho. Beside, who would forget something from just the night before? Even if he was just a newborn....

The Doctor however paused for a second after Datho finished his sentence. His face suddenly took this inquisitory look about it, and he flipped two lenses over his eyes and seemed to analyze Datho's face for a moment.

Lucian of course copied the action, though he had no glasses. He thought it was amusing.

After a few seconds of deep analysis the Doctor backed up and flicked the normal lense back onto his glasses.::

Amazing! Zhere was a bit of delay, but zhat sentence vas complete. Tell me Datho, how do you feel? Did you have any vierd dreams?

::He said this while gesturing for Datho to walk with him down the hall toward the elevator.::
PostPosted: Tue Sep 19, 2006 3:35 pm

Sunstrike gasped, and instead of padding out into the hallway, ran full tilt back into the room, probably startling the doctor with how he could move, injury and all.

The other man wouldn't have to wait long, however, as, breathless, Sun returned to the door, stepping out a little ways and in the direction of the elevator. In his hand, was the feather from the night before, ebony against his pale skin.

"V-very weird. Lots of...talking darkness. Talking...shadows?" He nodded, trying to find the right words wasn't so bad, as long as he kept to simple statements. Sunstrike paused and looked at the doctor.

"No dreams." Because Sun knew the dreams, dreams brought monsters. Dreams brought yellow eyes that glared...this hadn't been that. It had been more like a memory.

"Image."

Mhmm...

::The Doctor nodded as if he understood entirely. It was odd but the man almost always seemed to carry an aire which said he understood. It was like the workings of the world were laid bare before his eyes and he was able to understand it all. Nothing caught him off guard...much.

Behind those emerald eyes the Doctor was churning through any possibile illnesses and causes of those illnesses. He scanned mentally through a few possible psychological conditions, and several injuries that could cause the above symptoms. His eyes hit the feather for just a moment before returning to Datho.::

I see. I zhink today ve vill be focusing on your subconcious. Your dreams, your desires, zhese things are usually not as fragile as surface zhoughts. Zhey make who ve are, and vhat ve are. If ve can find a foundation of yourself remaining, ve can rebuild from zhere. Meanvhile, Lucian, remind me to tell Mary not to bring anymore pets inside zhe house.

::And as this stream of verbage continued, the elevator rose, and dinged and the Doctor would motion for Datho to step in, and then he and Lucian would follow.::

I zhink a few questions are in order to perhaps help you remember vhat you lost.

::He faced Datho with again that fatherly look of concern on his face as gently placed his hand on Datho's shoulder. It was his right hand and it felt somewhat odd...the hand was always cold, and always seemed older than it shoulder, more wrinkled. But that was beside the point. In his best re-assuring tone he spoke a bit slowly.::

Zhese might hurt a bit, but zhey are for your own good. Dazho, tell me...have you ever had a family?

---Meanwhile---

My family is in ruins!

::A man shouts at a group of men standing in a ranks.::

My wife cries every night and each morning, she has lost the will to leave her bed.

::He slams his hand down, triumphantly at the air.::

My daughter cries, wishing her brother would just play one more game of Baclerack with her. My soon to be daughter in law sits in a vacant room every day wishing for a few more seconds with her love...and for her broken heart to mend.

::The mans eyes have begun to glow a vicious red. His white hair blows in an ethereal wind and his robs begin to slowly ripple, air ripples around his hands as his emotions get the best of powers and he sits in a moment of extreme rage.

But the magical displays fade as he tried to calm. Still he shouts forth, a King leading his soldiers.::

It is not for I that gather you men. It is for my family, for our families...should we let our land go afronted by that abysmal mark? Should we let our children vanish into the night? NO! We are CHOSEN! And we will act as such.

::He gestures to a large box to his right.::

Gather your weapons, we head for a long journey by foot. We head to a place where our powers do not function...and to where the sun is scarred over. But we will be...VICTORIOUS!!

::The small armada bursts into a roar of cheers and charges for the box. The next day they go to war.::

Sunstrike strained, trying to understand what was determined to be a jumble of words, trying to slam into his ears and mind all at once. Dreams, Desires. He got those well enough. Rebuild, also got through, but honestly, by that point he was trying to keep up with the fast pace of everything going on around him, clutching the feather like a lifeline.

You are not faulty... It echoed still, through the chasm of his mind, and made him flush eagerly. He hesitantly bowed his head when the doctor placed his ravaged hand on his shoulder, and tried to look as though he understood. Questions, those could hurt...but the doctor wanted him to try, and he had to help. He swallowed.

Maximos
...have you ever had a family?

"..." The change was almost instantaneous. His features were like stone and he stared as if blind into the rest of the room. Gone was the cheerful confused figure. Gone was Sunstrike. He was lost...looking, there were so many damn pieces.

"Family...I..." A blink and an uneasy Sun looked at the floor, stomach churning.

"Yes." This was going to be difficult, more then painful. "Father...and," His eyes closed. "My sister."

::A sister!? The Doctor didnt know about that...the father however...he knew that person all to well. His memories of that man were little more than a jumbled mixture of hate and disgust. But outwardly he remained entirely calm. Datho had managed an answer, that was good. Granted, an answer would take work, and he noticed the way he clutched the feather. But he imagined it was due to the halucination involving the talking shadows, and darkness that Datho had discussed earlier. Little objects can take on twisted meanings in times of madness, like a man befriending a volleyball or some such none sense.

He would remember the sister for later but, the questioning was not done.::

Very good.

::He said, patting Dathos shoulder before slipping his hand back to his side.::

Now, do you remember how that felt? To have family?

Pure horror crept over Sunstrike's features as he looked at the doctor, but he'd been warned. He came into this knowing what to expect, didn't he?

But this wasn't like the pain in his leg, nor even the same as the one that came from his recent memory. This was, gut wrenching. Something was being pulled from him that had been locked away, and it wasn't just unpleasent emotions, it had a face, it had dark feelings that he'd never felt.

"It wasn't...what you would call love, or anything."

A complete sentence, a different attitude, and it was almost as if someone was speaking over what he'd been about to say. Two seperate voices synchronizing themselves over each other to produce intelligent thoughts. It wasn't like split personality where two beings warred for the same mind, but a conscioius need to repair and harmonize the words into something intelligent.

But while Sunstrike's had been warm and caring before, now there was little of that left, and the words were etched with paranoia and pain, a tiredness that could be mistaken for bordum, and a lethality that couldn't be mistaken at all. His emotions had been as shattered as his mind, and all that was whole...was what he'd been before the Stadium, before Gaia.

Physically he looked ravaged, dark circles almost melting under his eyes, which started to gain a mucky colour as darker things stirred behind the bright fire of before. He almost seemed taller, which was physically impossible, and probably due to him rising out of the slumped shoulders that the Doctors being usually carried. He looked around the room and shivered softly, his one hand wrapping around his forearm, the other clutching the feather, stomach doing flip flops.

"C-can I...sit down, doctor? I don't really...feel very well."

Sunstrike
"C-can I...sit down, doctor? I don't really...feel very well."

: biggrin eep concern was the farthest the Doctor could allow his emotional attachment to carry him. He looked at this in the same way a Doctor would look at a patient carrying a bullet in his gut, that need be removed, when there simply was no time for anesthetic. Or the way he might look at a patient who's bones were broken and must be set despite the sharp pain it would cause to the effected area.

Sometimes when a bone is mending, its necessary to tread on it, just slightly. The horror, the drastic change...he saw these as necessary in order to rebuild.

To be honest a reaction similar to this was what he was expecting. He believed in theory that if he mentally brought Datho back to a singular point in his life, the subconcious barriers which allow most people to resist the memories overtaking them, would be downed. In other words, Datho would be somewhat...reset, back to that point. Like a save point hidden in his mind. Leaving him there was not part of the plan though. Bits must be added. positive memories, to reform him correctly.::

Yes, of course make yourself comfortable.

::So as not to seem looming or threatening the Doctor sat himself down as well, a few of his more aged bones protesting the motion, but he ignored them and sat indian style on the floor. Lucian of course, mimicking his father. But staying cautiously back just incase the worst should happen.::

Considering the identity of your fazher, I vouldnt imagine he vould showver you vith love. And your doing qvite vell, be strong ve're almost through. Tell me Dazho, have you ever had any friends? Mayhaps a lover?
PostPosted: Thu Sep 21, 2006 4:20 pm

He stared down at the feather, black quills not reflecting the little lights from above. Sunstrike was now seated, much as the other two were, wounded leg outstretched, the other pulled close, his arms pulled in between. His breathing was hesitant, as was his attitude.

At first, this question sent lightning shots of hot pain through his head, as he tried to remember something he wasn't supposed to, making him reach past that paticular point and delve even furthur backwards, just as the other questions had done before, and he laughed.

Bitter and sarchastic chuckles shook him, and he felt sick.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v207/Sunstrike/madness2.jpg

" My fathers affections...may have been confused as love at some point. I certainly fell for them. He is, a hard being to resist."

A haunted look was squashed, but not before the evidence of it made his skin pale.

"I well thought I did...at one point, have friends...lovers. Mmm, yes, I may well have, indeed."

His eyes met the doctors, narrow and calculating slits of red, the colour of diseased blood, tilted, as he canted his head to the side.

"I had my sister, I had my children. These were the closest I came to what you would call...devotion, I imagine. Although,"

He grinned ferally, and looked off to the side. Streaks of something dark crawled along the insides of his cheeks. The doctor would have to be very cautious now.

"Devotion is a word that doesn't conjure the idea of betrayal. And they all betrayed me, every last one, my only hope. I sought to make them RISE above the rest, they faultered, they failed. There was no more hope. So yes, doctor, I had them. Now I have no one. Does this adequately answer your...question, doctor?!"

There was an unspoken threat in that "no one", and, magically toothless as Sun was at the moment, there was no denying that when in doubt, Datho could improvise something unpleasant, even under these circumstances. His thoughts were complete, as were his words, but with that completion came a psychosis so deep, it was debilitating, even for a god.

Light began to shy from the crouched form, and the area would start to become claustrophic. The usual smell of cinnamon was still there, but it was a cloying, and manipulating scent that drove out the sterile feeling of cold steel. Not exactly comfortable to be around in the first place, Datho was now practically alien, and had almost managed to force a pocket in this space, into one he would be more comfortable in.

But he was wary of something, and this became obvious in the cautious glances he threw the boy. There was something about the child that made even a being as twisted as Datho pause and take stock. The god was weak and out of his element. This child...had everything he needed at his disposal. So in reality, all the strange person in front of the doctor and Lucian could do was sit, and sulk like a spoiled child, blaming everyone else for something he couldn't help being.

::It was as if fear just would not effect this man. The room was becoming eeriely more uncomfortable by the second. The changes in Datho's own appearance were even more unsettling, but the Doctor stood unshaken. He knew the worst fate that could befall him was death, and death was not someone he feared.

Though the look of concern on his face grew deeply as he also shot cautious glances to Lucian who seemed completely obvious to the changes as he played with the buttons on his pants. He could defend himself, but he couldnt defend the child...and the boys modific---no. He wouldnt walk down that mental pathway, he could only pray his anti-magic field kept things from getting too deadly, too fast. He was rather sure the field was the one thing keeping angels from beating down his door for the sin he had created.

The rythmic thumps which usually accompany the elevators motion came to a complete halt. Quite literally, Squiddly had become afraid of what he was carrying, and had stopped, unsure of wether or not he should continue carrying it.

The Doctor waited in silence for Datho to finish, and then opened his mouth to respond. But it seems he'd missed a most key moment of realization, and was entirely helpless to effect what was coming. Datho had declared himself alone, a concept some know all to well...and a concept some have yet to learn. Some who were born surrounded by people...Datho being one of them. This concept of having "no on". It was inconcievable, it just couldnt be right....

It was a tight elevator, and children can do the darndest things. Before the Doctor could even get a word out, Lucian leaped forward across the cramped box and slung his arms out to wrap around Datho and hug...just hug. With age comes experience, with experience comes fear...Lucian was only a few hours old, he didnt know the definition of fear. All he knew, was exactly what he said. And what he said was what he whole hearted believed. You could hear the tears welling in his voice.::

No! Your not alone Mr. Datho....

::A few sniffles could be heard as the boy faught the tears.::

...you have me....I'm your friend...
PostPosted: Fri Sep 22, 2006 2:07 am

"W-wait!" There was a bang as Datho hit the wall of the elevator, but the place wasn't large, and Lucian didn't have far to go to wrap his arms around the strange man's head.

The reaction was instantaneous. Surprise in it's purest form crossed his features and he sat like something waiting for the pricetag for this "friendship." When no explosions came, he actually cracked an eye open, looking at the doctor with eyes that were much calmer. The darkness was controlled, for now, it receeded back to it's corner, simply waiting.

"You would?"

There was a point where all Datho had been, was a boy like this, and he couldn't destroy something that reached even passed the madness that had driven him over the edge all those years ago. It seemed even monsters had their moments. And with this realization, Datho was now Sunstrike again, though a little more complete, and worn thin.

"Then I will...try and return the favour." He swallowed and something clicked within him. There was a connection made and sealed.

Lucian, now had a being that was completely in his control. It could be said that Sunstrike fell too easy, a hug and it was done...but there was no point in speculating the meanings for his actions. They were too erratic, it would be easier and probably more accurate, to say that Sun had been caught off guard, and had receeded to mull things over, and would be fine with whatever was done in the meantime.

::Most children dont have betrayal written into their programming. Thats somethings thats learned. When an innocent child expresses an emotion they dont have an ulterior motive, its not FOR something...its usually quite honest. At least until they learn otherwise. When Lucian said he was Datho's friend, he meant it. So he just squeezed as tight as he could and let the tears soak the mans hair.::

Sunstrike
"Then I will...try and return the favour."

::The words were met with a head shaking and sobs fading as the boys voice spoke muffled through the hair.::

I promise...your not alone.

::For a second, the Doctors heart was in a bit of a vice grip. Lucian was everything to him, redemption in a small boy...and for a moment he could have lost him. But instead, Lucian proved his point exactly. Though he hadnt the chance to make the point, he would have the chance now. He didnt speak in anger, but in concern with a bit of pity and a bit of reassurance.::

...Zhat, Dazho, is real family...and a real families love...it doeznt betray...it doeznt run in fear...it is beside you at all times...

::He stood up, a few cracks heard in his somewhat aged bones.::

A real family would celebrate you...and not be somezhing zhat you mourn...And a real family...

: biggrin ING!! The elevator stopped at the top floor, the doors peeled open with a blinding bring light. But as the light faded the room was clearly in view. A large banner hung overhead, and there was loud music blaring in the background, some sort of rock from an Earth band. Mary's favorite. Mary could be seen in her part hat, right next to the door with a tray full of sandwichs as requested.

The banner quite clearly read in huge dark red letters.::

Happy Birthday Datho Mere!

::And Marcel could be seen behind it tossing his arms...all of them, in the air and cheering some sort of odd cheer. While Mary, shouted "Happy Birthday" at the top of her lungs. And Lucian hugged Dathos head and said it all cheery like. The Doctor simply smiled, and nodded his head, then finished his sentence.::

....remembers your birzhday.
PostPosted: Sat Sep 23, 2006 5:14 am

Sunstrike was absolutely speechless. He was almost afraid to leave the elevator, the shock was so complete. Wide, and blessedly clear, swirly eyes, took in the whole room, the figures of Marcel and Mary waiting for him, Lucians small arms wrapped around him.

And his memory was blank, completely, utterly blank. There were no shadows here. He'd never had a party for this, he'd never had anyone all lined up shouting they're congradulations, no music, no party hats....it was surreal.

He grinned, it was that goofy sort of half embarrased half pleased look that most people get at these events.

"T-thank you." He'd found his voice, but there wasn't much more you can usually say to that. Sun levied himself up, hand ruffling Lucians hair.

"Thank you so much..."

And he knew, from that moment on, he'd do just about anything for these people. His friends. His .... new family.

You are more zhan velcome, but vait...

::The Doctor said as he stood, he pulled a folded triangle of cardboard from his hat with a string dangling down from it and back up it. He sliped his fingers inside it and with a tiny pop, popped out the cardboard pointy, party hat and slipped it on Datho's head, wrapping the string around his chin. His hat was special it read "Birthday Boy". The Doctor studied it carefully and slightly adjusted it, and then gave an approving nod.::

...you cant forget your hat.

::Lucian slipped off of Datho as he stood up, and but hung onto his pant leg, pulling a party hat the big pocket in the from of his farmer pants and popping it out, then placing it on his head. Even the Doctor did the same. And Mary, oh so bubbly Mary reached into the elevator, balancing the tray on one hand and wrapped her hand around Datho's to pull him out into the party. She'd set the plate and sandwiches down and pull out a bit closer to the big speakers in the middle of the room.::

I get the first dance!

::No one argued. There was a slight silence on the radio as a new song kicked into the ID-Pod.::

Welcome to the planet...

::She pulled him in a bit close. Placing one of his hands on her hip, and simply held the other.::

Welcome to existance...

::She moved slow enough that Datho would get the motion, a simple tilt of the body right and left.::

Everyones here, everyones here...

::She the biggest smile on her face from ear to ear. If Datho looked up he'd see the Doctor had even hung fiber optic wire from the ceiling so that it would make little yellow glow spots across the dark blue sheet of material making a sort of star cover over the dancefloor. Yes, she was a bit pushy, tugging Datho all the way out to the dancefloor, but she meant well. She looked a bit embarassed as her eyes turned to his, she was shy, but playing it off with a smile.::

I hope its as good a party as you were thinking. I made a whole bunch of extra sandwiches. But Marcel insisted on doing the decorations. And father insisted we use the lab.

Everybodys watching you now
Everybody waits for you now
What happens next? What happens next?

::Something about the feeling that came when the song went still and she just looked at him. She felt extremely embarassed so to avoid the silence, she kept trying to think of things to say. Shyness had begun to take over.::

I...I hear through Fathers mic what happened in the elevator and...I just want you to know....I'll be here too. I'm your friend too, and if you need me for anything...I'm here.

::Its really awkward to hug in the middle of a dance. But its possible to step a tiny bit closer and lays ones head on anothers shoulder. Or seeing as Datho was taller, chest in this case.::

I dare you to move,
I dare you to move,
I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor,
I dare you to move,
I dare you to move
Like today never happened,
today never happened before...

::A few quicker beats could be heard from the song as the drummer cued in and the song took a more upbeat pace. Slow calm moments are awesome, but Mary was a rocker at heart. She lifted her heard up and proceeded to rock out. Not full on mosh pit action, but she grabbed Dathos hands and most definately picked up the pace. She didnt care of Datho was Fred Astaire or the man with three left feet, she was gonna dance all the same.::

Welcome to the fall out,
Welcome to existance,
Redemption is here, redemption is here,
Between who you are and who you could be,
Between how it is and how it should be

I dare you to move,
I dare you to move,
I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor,
I dare you to move,
I dare you to move
Like today never happened,
today never happened...

Maybe redemption has stories to tell,
Maybe forgivness is right where you fell,
Where can you run to escape from yourself
Where are you gonna go? Where are you gonna go?
Salvation is here...

I dare you to move,
I dare you to move,
I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor,
I dare you to move,
I dare you to move...

::As the song finally slowed, so did she. She slipped back into a more slow dance vibe, and her eyes met Dathos as the final words of the song came through. With all hint of shyness blow away by dancing, she could look into his eyes with the biggest smile on pale face from ear to ear.::

Like today never happened,
today never happened, today never happened,
today never happened before...

::And she quickly leaned forward and kissed him. On the cheek. Then grabbed his hand and ran off to get some fruit punch!

The Doctor watched with a fatherly smile on his face. Cautious yet caring. And Marcel continued to flail his arms about in one spot on the dance floor. It was dancing to him, and he enjoyed it...that was all he needed. Lucian loved the music, but was totally confused as to what Datho and Mary were doing, he just titled his head and watched while most confused.::

[Switchfoot - Dare You To Move]

((You can totally change where ever you see fit. I just had the cute little scene stuck in my head and wanted to see it played out. xd ))
