Adri heard the book hit the table and she moved closer, reaching out to grab it. The moment it was in her hands, she turned her back to the two men and carefully pulled the blindfold and veil off. Setting the cloth down beside her, she pulled the book into her lap and started to flip through the pages. "If either of you feel the need to move sssso that you're in my line of vissssion, pleasssse inform me firsssst..."

There would be virtually no chance for Adrienne to even scrape the surface of the book by the time they parted ways. It could take weeks to look up a particular spell for a person who knew the book well, hence why there were all the tabs. However, so long as it perqued her interest.

"Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere."

"And Im fine where I am..."

He kept his head looking in Ryuma's direction.

"So you never answered my question...you any good at magic?"

"Be more specific. Good is such a relative term."

He refilled the man's Sunkist.

"Able to hold you own in a battle"

He spoke.

Adri merely nodded as she continued to flip through the book. She couldn't understand the language, but she didn't mind. Adrienne was also enjoying the chance to actually look at something other than darkness. She sometimes hated being trapped in a world where everything was black.

"I suppose so, I guess. So long as I have time to look up the spells I need to cast. Because at the moment theres only one spell I can cast independantly. Otherwise I'm forced to rely on this..."

He pulled a wooden shinai off of his back and showed it to the man, forgeting he was blind for a moment.

"...a wooden Shinai"

He nodded before speaking again.

"Well I was just curious...I originally came to the desert to train...if you wanted to spar?"

"Maybe in a bit. Right now, I just wanna rest."

He closed his eyes and looked up at the ceiling, forgetting the troubles of the unforgiving desert.

Of course, his attempts at slowing the move down worked quite well. Sparks flew as one blade met another in a twisting dance of death, her frustration evident with every swing of her weapon. She spun once more, the blade stopped completely by one of Ruuvan's own before she quickly kicked out at Ruuvan's gut, her toes curled upward so that the ball of her left foot would hit.

She was starting to get tired of this... and so her grip tightened on the blade in response, channelling her energy into the Rune Stone. Still, she wasn't done with the attack yet. As soon as her attack hit, if it did, she would use the front kick as a launching point for a somersault kick with her right leg.

Vahn Kyonuske
Where we are is not where we see.

His steps only slowed down slightly as he found himself in a winding hallway. He could feel some form of a draft and musked air the farther ahead he went.

At least we're going up...

There was nothing at all too interesting about the passage. Not even any portraits to make it stand out, let alone anything to distuinguish it from the architecture of the tower itself.

Yellowed eyes looked over warily, even as he turned his head to the side, looking at Tellus, but speaking to everyone else as well.

"Not so bad is it?"

He gave a light hearted grin, even as a shadow pushed off the wall nearest him, glistening jaws opened wide to take a giant bite out of the would-be leader.

He had to stop looking away.

Tabi Kat
"No..."

Her words stopped by the shadow like creature coming to take a bite from Vahn. Without a moment's hesitation, the room was flooded with light, burning bright but without heat. There would be no place for shadows to exist, the power sweeping over the area in a large wave of energy, disappaing any negative non passive energy. Even the 'people' would feel the energy as it moved through them. The girl then blinked and the light was gone.

"What was that?"

Ug... a migraine in the making? sweatdrop *hono rubbed her eyes, hanging her shades from the collar of her shirt as she attempted to rub the spots from her sight with the heels of her hands*

I get the feeling that we should have found a different way to find your brother Vahn... because as is I get the "mice in a maze" feeling about all this... stare
Then again I still don't have any better ideas so I am not one to really talk sweatdrop *she sighed to herself, brushed her bangs out of her face and put her shades back on... just incase Tellus decided to try and blind them again...* xp

As Claire stopped her spinning move, looking extremely annoyed at him now, Ruuvan noticed her foot moving towards his gut and had to act quickly. Only one sword was still recovering from the Flameberge connecting with it, so he quickly moved the other one down and placed the flat of the blade against Claire's target, meaning that as the foot connected, sparks flew and Ruu went stumbling backwards about four feet. Now, without the wind knocked out of him, due to using the sword as a brace for extra protection, and yet another distance put between them, Ruuvan lowered his stance one more and brought his swords up to a defensive position.

BRass grinned abit at the man's question and patted the inner pocket of his cloak proudly. "A crafting matieral buried deep within the main volcano. A man willing to pay a hefty price for it asked me go out into the desert and find some. I did of course. But as I was getting away from the volcano, it erupted." He said brightly as he pointed in the direction where the main volcano would be. Smoke and ash still issued from it's mouth. "If it wasn't for some quicky thinking, I woulda been a goner. But, that's enough about me. I've yet to get your name..."

"Tch... Block this, then!"

Okay, so that didn't work. Well this would. She pointed her flamberge toward Ruuvan and, with a wild grin, pretty much fired yet another attack toward him. But this one wouldn't be so easy to avoid... not at this range. As the gemstone flashed white, a stream of flames erupted from the sword, extending for a good four feet in front of her.

Of course, these flames weren't as strong as they could be, but they were sufficient for this range. Then again, what wouldn't be sufficient for this range? Just about any projectile attack would be all right, but she wanted to see him suffer now, not just kill him.

Claire's attack, the burst of flame from her sword, resembled something she had done earlier and with pretty much the same distance between them, but it was moving faster than earlier attacks so physically dodging it would be impossible. However, he still had a charge of light magic in store from earlier to protect himself, but it wouldn't be enough to avoid injury completely.

So, without waiting another second to be fried, Ruuvan used what little magic he had to cover his body from head to toe. Once that was done, he stood still as the blaze engulfed him and beat mercilessly down on the shield, starting to remove the bottom section on its relentless approach. The heat was starting to course through his body as the stream came to an end, leaving Ruuvan standing there with a smug grin on his face and a few beads of sweat trailing down his forehead.

"If you're quite done." Ruu said his first words in a long time, making sure they hit her pride in its exposed state. Then, without waiting for a reply, he burst off the spot into a run towards her and his blades trailing behind him. Once within four feet of the Valkyre, Ruu jumped and twisted, bringing his blades up to chest level as he spun around three times in the air, each pass bringing his sword down onto his target. Whether or not she was able to block it made no nevermind; she was obviously weakened and he could use his magic to its full extent if physical attacks failed.
