This relieved Zoisite immensely, and he was feeling marginally more comfortable in his current situation. Ignoring his currently location if he could, it wouldn't be a terrible thing to just spend some time with his old lover. It had been so long.~*~ Queen Beryl sensed the return of Danburite to the Dark Kingdom, and he had brought someone else along as well. One of the Shitennou, that was certain, but she could tell which one. He had promised her Jadeite, so that must be the case.
'Danburite, come before me and bring your guest,' she ordered in a telepathic summons.

Upon receiving Beryl's summons, Danburite could not help but roll his eyes. Speak of the devil and she shall appear, right? Turning to his lover, he gave him a serious look. "Our Queen," he started, his voice dripping with heavy sarcasm on the first part, "has request an audience with us. Come."
Without waiting for a reaction or response from Zoisite, Danburite was already on his way to Beryl's throne room - on foot, just to take his time and irritate the woman.

Zoisite followed quickly, quickly trying to formulate a reason for his sudden treason and return to the Dark Kingdom. He had been the most vocal about his loyalties while here the first time, and Beryl was not going to forget that. He had laughed in her face at one point when he was protecting the Master from her.

Danburite stopped just before entering Beryl's throne room and turned to face Zoisite. "Stay out here until I summon you. I need to explain to her that I failed to take Jadeite and that you will be following my commands, not hers," he said, his voice dropping low enough for only Zoisite to hear.

Silently, Zoisite nodded his agreement. If Danburite had a better excuse for why he was here than he could come up with, that would be a weight off his shoulders. "She'll know something is strange if I came willingly," he said, his voice equally low. "I fought her the most."

"You did not come willingly, you traded your life for Endymion's," Danburite responded, letting Zoisite know exactly what he would tell Beryl. It was close enough to the truth anyway. That was how he initially got Zoisite on his side when they had first encountered each other in Crown.
Without another word to Zoisite, Danburite turned with a flourish of his cape and strode into Beryl's throne room. "You summoned me, my Queen?" he asked, dropping into a respectful bow as he spoke.

"I did, some time ago," Beryl replied, not hiding her disappointment at having been kept waiting. "However, I can tell that you brought someone back with you. Where is Jadeite?" She was very much looking forward to seeing the man that had freely admitted his devotion to her.

Remaining bowed to show subservience, Danburite spoke in an uncharacteristically humble tone. "Alas, my Queen, I was unable to snare Jadeite in my trap. It appears the young Tennou is much too loyal to Endymion and some human girl to be swayed by your return."
He dared a cautious glance up at the woman who sat before him, wanting to catch her reaction to his admittance of failure. He knew that he was much stronger than she was but for the sake of his plan, he would have to be quick to feign pain to anything she threw his way.

Beryl's eyes narrowed and she stood, taking a few steps in Danburite's direction. She didn't believe him about Jadeite, not after how she had seen him at the end. "Failing me on your first mission is not advisable, Danburite. Who is it that you brought back with you?" Of the remaining three, Nephrite was the only one she could think of, but even he was a long shot at this point. He too had loved her, but he had also been killed by her.

Zoisite? That was impossible. Zoisite's loyalty to Endymion had been strong enough to fight the spell she had him under. What was Danburite thinking, saying that it was Zoisite who was here now. Why wasn't he in the room. Dark purple energy crackled in her hand. "Danburite, I don't know what game you think you are playing, but I knew full well that Zoisite would not return here. You think you can lie to me and get away with it?!" The ball of energy exploded at Danburite's feet, more for show than for anything. If he didn't explain himself quickly, then he would feel the full force of her anger.

"Zosite! I command you to enter!" Danburite bellowed after checking to make sure his boots had not been scuffed by Beryl's display of anger. He offered up no word of explanation as he waited his lover's entrance into the throne room. Words would get him no where with the angry woman, that much he knew. Concrete proof that he had captured one of, if not the, hardest Shitennou to pry from Endymion's side.

Waiting outside the throne room, Zoisite had heard every word of the exchange. Danburite was intentionally trying to anger Beryl, or so it seemed. When he was told to enter, Zoisite closed his eyes and mouthed the words 'forgive me, Master' before putting on a poker face and entering the room.
It was as if nothing had changed here, except Beryl appeared to have a throne now, which she was not using. Zoisite stopped one step back from Danburite in front of his 'queen'. He looked directly into her eyes, his contempt for the woman probably evident there and also in how he took his time in bowing. He waited several seconds before drawing his right hand to his chest and bowing his head in submission.~*~ To say Beryl was surprised would be an understatement. There had to be some trickery here. A stand in, or a projection of the real Zoisite, that was her first assumption, but neither of those things would show her the true emotion Zoisite was feeling. He was actually here, but most certainly did not want to be.
Her gaze returned to Danburite. "What did you do to him?" she asked.

With a smirk, Danburite stood straight and turned to face Zoisite. "In exchange for the life of that b*****d prince, I have taken his. He serves me, Queen Beryl, as a result." he knew the last part would anger her a great deal. Here he had promised to bring the Shitennou back for her to control and yet he was claiming dominance over Zoisite.

Beryl had agreed to give control of the Shitennou over to Danburite, but they were still to obey her as well. Then again, Zoisite had never been particularly good at that in the first place, so things would really be all that different.
The conditions for Zoisite's subservience concerned her more. "And what were you doing threatening Endymion's life?" she asked, not one bit calmer from when she had thrown the energy at him.
