I came up with a very daemon-heavy list, though I will never use it. too fragile...

thats a lot of stuff to summon, especially if theres no dedicated unit to prevent them from scattering.

but demon icons cost a lot and dont necessarily keep them from scattering. all my units are obviously nurgle so my pack of plague bearers wont scatter when squad pestilence summons them, and my greater demon comes out of the same squad biggrin

If you read the rules, it states a daemon Icon places all models within blast template of Icon, no scatter...

Ok I've put together what is probably my final army list until I get the money to expand it to 2,000 points. The 3 guys I play against most often collect Tyranids, Orks, and Imperial Guard, so it's designed to mainly be a close-combat anti-infantry army, with some anti-tank stuff thrown in to take out any tanks, trukks, or big Tyranid... things. Any feedback or criticisms would be greatly appreciated.

To add some pizzazz to my army I've given all the squads and characters Biblical names of Fallen Angels and Daemons.

HQ
Lord Dagon: Chaos Lord
Mark Undivided
Equipment: power fist, master-crafted combi-melta, spiky bits, bionics
Veteran skills: furious charge
Daemonic gifts: daemon armor, daemonic resilience
180 points

ELITES
Shemyazza and Oeillet: 2 Obliterators
280 points

TROOPS
Squad Alastor: 9 Chaos Space Marines
Mark Undivided
Equipment: bolt pistols, close combat weapons, one flamer, krak grenades
Veteran Skills: furious charge
Iuvart, Aspiring Champion of Chaos: power fist and plasma pistol
224 points

Agares: Chaos Rhino (mounts Squad Alastor)
Equipment: pintle combi-bolter, havoc launcher, smoke launcher
88 points

Squad Uzziel: 8 Chaos Space Marines
Equipment: bolters, close combat weapons, one heavy bolter, one plasma gun, frag grenades
Veteran Skills: counter-attack
Senciner, Aspiring Champion of Chaos: power weapon and bolt pistol
175 points

FAST ATTACK
Squad Saraknyal: 5 Chaos Raptors
Equipment: bolt pistols, close combat weapons, frag and krak grenades, one plasma pistol, one flamer
Veteran Skills: furious charge
Mulciber, Aspiring Champion of Chaos: lightning claws
204 points

HEAVY SUPPORT
Astaroth: Chaos Defiler
Equipment: battle cannon, reaper autocannon, heavy flamer
150 points

Squad Marchosias: 5 Chaos Havocs
Equipment: one lascannon, one missile launcher, one autocannon, one heavy bolter
Veteran Skills: tank hunters
Sonneillon, Aspiring Champion of Chaos: power weapon and bolt pistol
199 points

TOTAL: 1500 points (it rounded off very nicely hehe)

Don't give an IC a power fist- ever.

The Oblits and Raptors kinda looks like points sinks to replace sheer bulk of troops. I'd suggest another squad of Chaos Space Marines instead of one of them.

Besides, if Comp was still in effect, you'd be losing major points just for having the minimum two Troops choices. Alway, always, always have more Troops- especially in Marine armies.
