No because at least the person playing them is dead.

Aaah, the UK edition is different from the US one, so I belive I won't see those rules sad
On the other hand, they're unofficial so you won't find many players who'd like to play with someone using them.

We tried em'! It was hilarious, against a 1600 point Eldar army, mine and my friends marines, eight in total, killed them all, with two marines remaining, one unwounded, the other down to one wound. He had 9 war walkers too...

If they'd had the right models, the eldar would've won. I've used a 500 point eldar army VS a 750 point HW-SM "army" and beat them with 300 points left.

Probably, even if the SM are overly powerful, they are evenly pointed. Anyways, he bought 9 war walkers, the Bolters are like strength 6, meaning we only needed 4s to destroy them. You do know all the SM have 3+ Invulnerable saves, right?

Yes, and starcannons are strength six, fires 3 shots at 36". I beat 750 poins of HIOLLYWOOD marines with 500 points of eldar.

Here's one I've been wondering about- who uses librarians or chaplains in their armies now, instead of force commanders? With the new rules for all three, the FC appears to be the marginally better pick.

Force Commanders no longer exist. xd
Captain, Master. Those are your choices for the good ol' commander now.

Chaplains get free power weapon (that is, if you would buy iron halo for the commander) and confer their fearlesness to the unit they're with. What is more they allow the unit to re-roll to hit rolls on charge to the same unit so it seems that cc oriented players could drop Rites of Battle for that.
And Librarians come with psychic hood and force weapon, which together costed 65 in the previous codex o_O Not so bad against armies with psykers and many-wound creatures (uhm... eldars?). And the psychic powers can be nasty at times wink

Hollywood Marines....?

They should've picked Imperial Guard instead! They've got more character, personality and bad-assedness then a million marines ever could manage!

Sure a marine can survive twenty impacts, but that just isn't as cool as having three or four Catachan Jungle fighters slaughter an entire Dark Eldar army or a handful of storm troopers going 'Dirty Dozen' on a Tau army.

Still all in all, I'd like to see these rules before going on a all-out wage campaign of calling it cheesy and beardy. whee
