Well, darn. I thought I was serious, but apparently snopes.com has the facts straight and the e-mail I got with a message saying he served as a sniper was wrong. He wasn't even IN the military. Though, I do feel better knowing that Captain Kangaroo DID fight in the Pacific theater during WWII and won a purple heart for it. I feel bad now for giving you misinformation.
