Amphion Bassoonist! Currently playing on a lovely Fox model 240 named Haru (...it's a long story) I'm the only one in my high school, and slighly dissappointed because there would have been a second one, only she quit over the summer stare Anyway... I managed to make first chair Mass. Sr. District orchestra, and now I'm slaving away at the All-State piece. I got a fancy recorder for Christmas, so now I can listen to myself screw up in high-quality sound! biggrin

Oboes Rock!!! I play one in band at school but so want to play one in the marching band. Sorry anyone who also plays the flute here but I kinda think they have to many and its a little boring!

I don't need a judge to tell me I suck. I can tell myself. Anyway, did you get in to the Jr. District last year? No, I was in Sr. last year, too. First chair band (I even made 1st chair 2nd in the All-State band, which surprised the heck out of me) But two years ago I was in Jr. Only one in the orchestra... crying The year before that, I was still playing bass clarinet.

I really really reaaaaaaaaally want to learn how to play English Horn. The last movement of Candide is almost all EH and it sounds soooooo beautiful. ^-^

Katana Kunai I was the only oboe in my jr high band. It sucked when the whole oboe section had to play. I ended up getting a solo. T crying T *laugh* We have two oboeists in our band, and they're both named Rebecca. So we now don't have a 1st and 2nd oboe, we have a 1st and 2nd Rebecca. Even our band director does this; it's sort of scary...

Bassoons are so awesome!!!! I've been playing a little under 2 years. I started playing at the end of the 6th grade. Does anyone want to start a basson playing guild????? Oh, I play on a cheapy plastic Fox model that belongs to my school...I can't wait to get my own over the summer...I think I'll name my bassoon Charlie....

I play the bassoon. ;D What I hate about it is, is that people mistake it for the oboe. GOD. D'<
I've been playing the bassoon since the end of the 6th grade. I bought my own bassoon, Fox Model 240, at the start of 7th grade. Our school's got 2 bassoons, me and another guy.
Has anyone tried All-State Tryouts or Solo and Ensemble festivals? :O
