"See? We all got things to celebrate, even in this mess!" He followed Hikari's gaze to Miaka, and smiled. Privately, he wasn't sure if it was better to let the child live in gentle illusions or show it the truth, but supposed it was her decision to make. Or maybe he was just being silly. No child that young could possibly remember, let alone understand, what would go on up there! At least, he didn't think so...

Rubido struggled for a topic. He liked conversations, but they weren't his strong suit. "So... Dancing, huh? 'Get much work?" Belatedly the young man remembered the bread he should have picked up hours ago. It'd have to be done soon.

“I get enough” She answered with a shrug, before gasping slightly and stopping. She instantly turned on her heel. “My dress. I still havent gotten it back...” She spoke more to herself then to the person she was walking with.

She frowned and chewed on her bottom lip slightly as she once more adjusted the weight of the infant in her arms. “I forgot all about it with Nameless visiting me...” She huffed slightly, blowing a rather long abng out of her face.

Then, as if suddenly remembering she was with someone turned to face him, and blushed. “A-ah, Sorry...” She hung her head as she thought about the baker who said she’d wash her muddy dress.

Rubido took another step before realizing she had stopped, and turned back to look at her, confusion written as plainly on his features as it had been on hers minutes before. At "Nameless visiting me..." the nagging idea she might have lost more then a dress tugged at him and was dismissed in the same instant. Even if it was his business, there were worse things than being a little "out of it," as Rubido well knew.

"Ah, here-" he started awkwardly, searching hastily for something in his pocket as he spoke. "'Sounds sorta like you gotta go, and actually- I really got to too." He smiled apologetically. "But, ah- if you ever need anything, I- got it somewhere... ah! Here. You can read, right?" As if very proud of it, he grinned and offered her a slip of worn paper that should, long ago, have been stiff. "I do a little bit of everything!"

He glanced at it to make sure it was the right one. "I have terrible handwriting, though. No reason to write much anymore."

Annie bent over the soapy, sopping wet bundle of blue that may have, at one point, resembled a dress. However, after a serious going-at with abrasive soap and hard water, Annie was beginning to doubt if the garment was ever going to be the same... or come out of its bath in tact. Annie gingerly lifted the dress from the tub, eyeing it with something like distrust in her eyes. It still looked like a dress, but that stain there wouldn't come out. Was that there before? Would Hikari freak out if she saw it, pummeling Annie across the room? Probably not, as Hikari didn't seem the type to pummel, but then again, she had seen people switch personalities rather quickly. And Hikari didn't come off as being completely mentally stable.

Annie rinsed off the dress with warm water, and hung it up in the bathroom to dry. It dripped into the bathtub, which Annie quickly drained. Then she hobbled out of the bathroom into less humid air, and took inventory of the bread she was baking. It still needed to rise a few more minutes...fifteen, Annie estimated. She prodded it with one finger and nodded as it gave. Fifteen minutes, then into their pans to be baked.

Dr. Severin listened to everything Larry had to say, and chose to internalize it and think it over instead of responding. his eyes flickered back and forth form his nameless son, to Miriam, then back to his friend. "I.. I don't need a home, I have a bit of temporary places I can stay in." The doctor answered, a bit to quickly and nervously. His eyes shyed away and he looked back to Ankou, the help with the child would be splendid.. but the worry would add far too much stress. "Thank you for the offer though, if I need someplace to have as home.. I'll keep this in mind."

The Death babe stared at the shoe in confusion, not quite sure what it meant, nor the baaing that followed the gift. He pulled on a lace experimentally, then a bit more, rather pleased to find them coming lose. "Kwah-lala." He said firmly, as is he were staing the meaning of life itself.

"I'll keep the vacancy sign up for you. What do you think about the execution? It's a little soggy to be shuttling papers around. I don't know who's planning on cleaning them up. Real funny that they didn't mention the second fellow's name...I suppose he's only there by association. I'll be going, of course. After work. Closest thing we have to parties anymore."

Miriam found something else, a book, and neatly offered it to Ankou. "Baaa." And then something else. "Baaa. Baaa. Baaa. Baaa." She emphasized each item, her legs folded underneath her politely. There was considerable grace and tact to the repeated motion. She began to create a formidable pile.

Larry interposed, noticing the increasing heap. "...Err, sweetheart?"

Emi reached Kensington District, first thing first she though was to see the old man to check how he was and then whatever else came to mind before she attended the execution. She passed the crowds of people quickly, for she didn't have time at the moment, she did but...she knew that she had to make sure the old man was still there.

Once she finally made it to the area where the old man's shop usually was she stopped as her heart froze, he wasn't there, some of his stuff was still around the area also...her eyes widen a little bit, she knew automatically what had happened, but it couldn't she though as she hastly went and looked around his stuff to see if she could find him just sleeping or anything like that but nothing...so sign of him nothing...just some of his stuff left behind and a broken pot. She was right...he didn't pay his debts off from those guys....he said that he did long time ago but...he was lying to her but...why??

The thoughts that raced through Emi's mind was if the old man was hiding or was he really dead as she stood there with a worried look on her face. She knew or though that it would be best to not stay out in the open as she immediatly went into a alley.

A minute or two had passed since Emi hid herself in the alley, thinking of where the old man could be or where he could of lived. Her thoughts turned up empty as she remembered the first time he met him was- she quickly hid the memory away and let out a sigh of worry, it then occured to her that none of this would of happened if that....person from yesterday did not screw up her announcement...

(that person....) Emi was now enraged, as she started at the wall in front of her, her eyes now filled with hate and anger...much more demonic and evil looking, as if it was a completly differnt person...all she now had running through her mind was one saying "a eye for a eye". She then quickly shook her head and put her hands on her ears as she suddenly closed her eyes....she took a deep breath in and out and calmed herself down and quickly made her escape out of Kensington to someplace more quiet or anywhere for her own sake....

Hikari moved to grab the paper offered to her, but was intercepted by Miaka, who stared at it in wonder, flipping it over and over again. She let out a high pitched squeal of delight after a moment before shoving the paper right in her other’s face.

“Erk....uh...very nice...dear...” She spoke trying to move her face away from the paper only to have the toddler move the paper back to its spot. Finally she took the paper from the girl and looked it over carefully.

After a moment she gave a firm nod of her head. “I-I’ll keep this s-somewhere safe.” She offered him a happy smile before placing the paper where she had held Miaka when she was just a Tarot card.

She then looked down at the girl and wagged her finger in front of the child’s nose. “Come now, little one. We must go to the bakers to get mommy’s dress back, mmkay?” She then looked back up at her new- Friend?- and smiled “It’s b-been a pleasure.”

She gave him a final wave before turning on her heel and walking off.

'Dear...?' Rubido eyed the pair a moment in confusion before deciding she had meant the baby, which made a whole lot more sense. Relieved of his burden, Rubido quickly smoothed out the upturned pocket and returned Hikari's smile, grinning. "'Pleasure's all mine, Miss." He tipped his hat, eyes alight with amusement, and stalked off.

It was another minute or so before Rubido broke into a run, his vest folding out behind him, his hat trapped his hat beneath one hand, as he made a frantic dash for Kensington. He was going to be late. Not that the man'd ever admit it. Thrilled with the movement he barreled down the street, dodging this and that passerby until he wheeled into Kensington and finally paused to catch his bearings.

Ah, there. "Excuse me!" he shouted, flagging down the cart and the freckle-faced apprentice who wheeled it. "Yes, you! Thallasar. I did work here yesterday?" The apprentice looked confused, forcing Rubido to fish awkwardly in his other pocket. "I have... this." He ventured, offering the cabochon token given to him the day before.

At that, the young man's eyes took on some light of recognition. "Oh! Yes. That. Here." In exchange for his master's token the apprentice handed Rubido a wax-paper wrapped package, which, upon opening, proved to be a loaf of very good bread. Pleased, Rubido looked up to thank the boy only to see him retreating with his cart. He quirked an eyebrow after the mechanical pair. That was someone who had spent too much of their time working on the same task.

Rubido pushed them out of his mind, tucked his loaf protectively under one arm, and started through Kensington at a more relaxed pace.

Aaric
Feyd didn't seem to mind that she ignored his question, he did however blink at the mention of 'meeting his fate', a rather dark statement in his opinion. As for Philemon, the actor had never heard of such a man and told the woman so, a benfactor of the theater perhaps? Why would he send a fortune teller though? A large donation would have been much more useful.

Edging foward he watched as she worked her cards, concluding it was the fortune telling that she spoke of the night before. At her bidding, and without hesitation he swiped a card, flipping it over to look at it's face.

"So, the Fool. It seems rather appropriate for you, doesn't it? Please keep that Tarot Card with you from now on; it is very important that you have it for the Velvet Room, when they decide to contact you."

Rising from her chair, the Fortune Teller returned the deck of cards to an inner pocket of her robes.

"Thank you for your time. Expect to find the Velvet Room for the next few days. Your life is about to become something quite different from what it once was."

Bowing her head, she moved quickly past him, sweeping out of the door and into the city with haste.

Yami's eyes painfully opened up, as she brushed away little pieces of rubbish off of her eyes, causing them to open better and reveal the world in front of her. As soon as she stood up, she immediatly rushed her palm and connected it to her head, a strange, odd feeling rushing through her body to it.

"How....did I get here? I thought..." she started investigating her room. She didn't remember being here...nor did even remember being so close in proximity to sleepwalk back to her own home. "Hikari...must of..." Hikari. Figuring how she could have been so stupid as to be so selfish in her thoughts, Yami sprang off her bed in a swift motion, not caring to figure out a way to get into cleaner clothing, or try and inspect the bottom of her feet for new scratches or bruises. Heading straight to Hikari's room, she busted open the door to find...nothing. No sister in sight. "Hi...kari?" she whispered to herself as she went to search the rest of her house. Nothing...

Hikari? Hikari? Hikari Hikari Hikari Hikari? was the one word coursing through every wave in her mind. Her sister was gone...the world outside was chaos...and her sister was out there to defend herself? Without someone to assure her safety? Yami cursed as she slid against the wall...as if in denial, though, stopped mid-way to remember. There's still a chance. Pushing off the wall, she sped towards the front door and without a word, left her house and headed down the street, running as fast as she could take herself, even if it meant killing her legs if she had to. There was still a chance.

Hikari’s doe brown eyes were glued to the street before her as she purposefully ignored the bustle of the city folk. Idly, she wondered if Yami was up yet, but then sighed dejectedly when she remembered her sister remembered well...nothing.

Her mind raced with things they could try to get the younger one to remember things when Severin passed through her mind.

THAT’S RIGHT! The doctor had a card of his own! Does that mean he would be getting a child soon? She chewed on her bottom lip in thought. She was instantly glad Miaka hadn’t gone to Severin. Though she was far from the best mother in the world, at least she didn’t go around eating other peoples fathers.

Before she knew it she was walking back into the house and sitting Hikari on top of a nearby counter. She winked at the girl and held up a finger. “Stay here for a moment okay?” For a response, Hikari got a happy giggle.

Assuming the child was agreeing with her, she moved to fetch the red robes of the baker’s boss. Her fingers quickly folded the now clean article of clothing before going to Yami’s room to see if she was up. When the little sister wasn’t found she furrowed her brows in confusion.

Typically it would be nothing to worry about, but with Yami’s memory, she was a tad nervous about her sister. She quickly made her way to the toddler and hefted her up again, and with red robes in hand she walked back out the door, closing it behind her.

“Now then.” She started, thinking a bit before continuing what she was going to say to the young girl, as if she understood. “We will keep an eye out for my sis- ...well actually...your aunt, while we go to the bakers. If we don’t spot her and she’s not home by then we will start a good search okay?”

Annie flapped her hand rather dejectedly at the blue dress, her eyes focused on the loaves of bread baking in the oven. They looked like they were going well, which was always a plus for Annie, since good-looking bread was more likely to sell than bread that looked as though it could jump up and attack at any given moment. But the dress was at a state of sogginess unprecedented by any dress Annie had washed before, though Annie hadn't exactly washed a dress in the past. She had maids before...before Sehket, and she didn't wear dresses. They got in the way.

Annie wore her father's old clothing, or hand-me-downs from her mother. Of course, they were rather patched and worn, but it was all she could salvage. Thinking of her parents led Annie down a familiar road...but she couldn't afford to angst now, as there was bread in the oven. Maybe she would wear her father's coat to the execution tonight. That would be nice. A sort of round-about way of telling Sehket exactly what she thought about him. And what she thought about him...would stay a thought. Because she wanted to stay alive. "There is always something to live for," Annie said matter-of-factly, adding more wood into the bottom of the oven, "Unless you are dead."

Soon the duo found themselves at the front of the baker shop, neither spotting the younger Chou sister. With a sinking heart, Hikari entered the shop as silently as she possibly could.

She had to admit, she was more then a tad scared to see Annie again.

Miaka let out a small squeel and Hikari quickly cupped the child's mouth, causing a nasty glare to form on the toddlers face. Deciding she didnt like her Others hand on her mouth the toddler licked the hand on her lips and let out a giggle of pure joy when Hikari quickly removed her hand to wipe it on her white skirt.

She huffed out a sigh and looked around before gently calling "Ms Annie? Are you here?" To scared to make much noise

Annie blinked and peered out from behind the oven. Ooh. It was Hikari. Annie gave the dress a resigned look and scooted out from behind the counter. She gave Hikari a hesitant smile and gestured for her to sit. "Hello. Your dress is still drying. It'll take a few - is that your sister?" Annie asked, suddenly seeing Miaka. Strange - the girl didn't look at all like the Chou girl. Pink hair and green eyes. And were those gold bracelets? "Or your daugh--ah..." Annie swallowed her words before she could say anything else.

She decided to change the subject before the tension in the room got any thicker. "Are you...going to see the execution today? I was thinking about going." She leaned against the counter, still frowning a bit, as she watched the toddler in Hikari's arms.
