THROWDOWN - J U L Y 20th, 2018
On the July 20th edition on Friday Night Throwdown, things were kicked off with Bully Ray explaining his actions, those actions being attacking and assaulting Sami Zayn after he defeated the Television Champion Austin Aries at Bragging Rights. Bully Ray would go on to explain that it was him who should resemble the United States by being the champion and continued to insult Sami's ethnicity which brought the champ himself out to confront the Bully, who kept egging him on until Sami Zayn had enough and attacked, but Bully got out of dodge before Sami could hit a Helluva Kick.
The first match of the night was number 1 contender Sasha Banks, against the leader of the Riott Squad, Ruby Riott, with Throwdown Women's Champion, Becky Lynch on commentary. After a solid, entertaining bout, Ruby Riott would knock off Sasha Banks, continuing to be a thorn in the side to the contender and champion, but in the same time proving herself to deserve another chance in the future.
The final two matches of the night were Pay Per View quality matches just when you say the names of who were facing each other. Up first, after a heated confrontation on the Highlight reel on the last episode of Throwdown, chris Jericho would take on the Icon Sting, in a match that totally delivered, where both men dug deep into their arsenals to gain victory. In the battle of a couple of the greatest performers in CWF history, Sting defeated Chris Jericho, finally getting a victory over him which had previously alluded him.
The main event was a number 1 contenders match for the CWF Championship between the Undertaker and Kurt Angle, and in a back and forth hard hitting pure battle between the two for the rights to face Matt Gennison for the title at Summerslam, the match ended in a no contest after Kurt Angle hit a moonsault on to the Undertaker on the second announce table outside of the ring and neither man was able to get up and get in the ring to beat the 10 count, thus ending in a double countout. Soon after, CWF Champion, Matt Gennison came out to announce that he would gladly face them in a triple threat match at Summerslam, and the show would end after both Angle and Undertaker slowly got up and stared down and also looked up at the ramp where Matt was with the title they both were after.
