First off, let me lead into this by stating the obvious that may not be obvious. I'm not disrespecting you with this, it's 5:33 AM and I have no ******** clue why I am even alive let alone awake right now, and I'm pretty sure I just hallucinated a purple dragon fired out of my bathroom sink after I cleaned my cat's nasty litter.
Now that I've got that pretext out of the way, let's get right to this.
Frozen Kaori chan
you guys are funny. You realize that you win or loose purely based on how you look at things. In a roleplay if you set your goal to get the girl, kill the dragon , or dominate everyone and you accomplish it then you win. Whether everyone hates you in the end or your skill is bad etc is just details. For someone like Vin (don't get me wrong I'm not justifying anything I'm just pointing out something you guys are overlooking) he's a man who goes by the results. As long as he gets what he wanted he won, for him that means the end resulting judgment. For you guys it's self fulfillment. What your arguing is almost comparable to watching people argue religion. Why? Because religion is mostly about morals and living your life a certain way. RP'ing can be alluded to that. What a person looks for in a roleplay is invariably different from the next person, you can't force someone to roleplay differently than they do or even change who they are online because you have a social incompatibility with the person.
In short you are focused on the details and not everyone is, You can't force the person who looks at the pot of gold at the end of the dungeon and ignores all the cool side things in the dungeon to take his eyes of the gold, even though the rest of the party wants the gold to be the icing of the cake, to him it is the cake.
[cracks neck, cracks fingers] Holy ******** it's 5:35 AM. Why God.
Alright. So I'm gonna ignore Vintrict's obvious social shortcomings, since he did spend the last several pages calling everyone here "ignorant and bad at rping [sic]," and instead focus on the error of his general standpoint, and why your view is flawed as well.
Vintrict's major issue is that, as he brags, he grades the merit of roleplayers and content based on what personally agrees with him. "If you like me, then I like you. If you earn my respect, then I respect you. If you do things I like, then I'll acknowledge them." The problem with this is that the ME ME ME mentality is a non-subjectively poor one to approach roleplay with, strictly because roleplaying is factually something you do with other people.
Like you can't actually spin that in a relative manner. It's something you and other people do together, at least here. So you -do- kind of have to acknowledge what upsets and what elates your fellow roleplayers, and try to be more inclusive than exclusive.
People can disagree, but they typically get chased out of roleplays left and right with pitchforks. Take Vintrict. He likes to pretend he's only disliked by a small fraction of roleplayers around Gaia and is Mr. Big, but.. honestly, I've seen the guy kicked out of so many roleplays of people I don't even 'know.' I can count on one hand the number of roleplays I've been kicked from and I was intentionally ******** with them to instigate that result; Vintrict's done so out of.. unintentional bullheadedness in so many threads over the years, it's to a point he (again I'm not just making this up, this is factual) has to resort to roleplaying in Grabass Bars at Chatterbox because they have literally zero standards and won't turn anyone away, even him at his worst.
There is something fundamentally wrong with your approach when:
1.]
You're frequently barred from roleplaying at threads.2.]
Your retort to this is claiming everyone directly involved or not is ignorant.3.]
You brag and relish at not cooperating. It's the utmost opposite of what roleplaying even is. So with this whole tell/warning/power/etc debate, that's really where the crux boils down; I don't personally give too many shits about the details and the "journey" of things as much as I want my opponent to at least be able to say "That fight was good." My mentality is assuming an interest in others.
Where as a lot of people who defend being Space Gods that move at Mach 10 and have no warning on their Space Flipendos.. typically are self oriented. They want what's entertaining to them and ******** everyone else in their assholes. Vintrict goes so far as to boast anyone who doesn't agree with him (because if you disagree with him, you don't like him and therefore aren't worth respecting etc) doesn't even matter at all, even if it's done politely. I've seen people nicely disagree with him and him retort by calling them cunts.
The self-motivation deal's fair too, it's fine to be honest that "I want what I want," but .. that mentality and roleplaying don't mesh. You don't have to agree, you can go around getting into arguments over roleplay fight mechanics and making s**t to read fights like.. a lot of the proponents of Vintrict's mantra on this historically have had to deal with. But, I'm just saying there's probably better hobbies for you if that's your mentality, because you're missing the point of this one.
Having fun with other people.
5:46 AM gay.
Now, I understand the want to play devil's advocate or simply to try and support the peace by going "everybody's right! Now stop arguing.
biggrin " But you have to understand that kind of placating naytalk doesn't really accomplish anything. At most it just delays the topic to be argued, possibly worse, later. It's really better for long term conflict resolution that it all get out in the open, people learn at least 'something' from it, and those who absolutely self-destruct from the situation get banned so they don't pose a problem a month from now.
I call it "Kindness Poison." In trying desperately to avoid conflict, you're basically breeding conflict worse than if Vintrict started his gay bashing tirade again.
5:48 AM, I'm gonna play the Gamecube.
