"I was thinking musket ball, but without having seen my target I can't be sure I'll hit him," Darian said. He stepped out and fired again in the direction the voice had come from. He sighted this time, he was not sure who the man he aimed at was, but he planned to make use of the time he had before they decided he was not worth the risk. He ducked into the shed again. "Any suggestions?" he asked, picking up the conversation from before he had left.

Seeing Arelen on the stairs, Lael comes out of the study. Seeing Anafontes she rushes down and helps to pull the older woman away from the window.

"You're both hurt," she says, also noting Arelen's arm. "Come on. I need to get you upstairs." She puts Anafontes' arm over her shoulder, ready to help her stand.

-----
Sanyu reaches the tunnel that she needs to enter the city.

'We're lucky that Arelen doesn't know about this tunnel...'

:I never knew about it! How'd you know about it?:

'I was here when the city was built, remember?'

: Oh... At least it's something that gives us an advantage.:

'But their time is coming to an end here.'

----
The commander holds up a hand, motioning for the troops to stop firing temporarily.

``But we should continue fighting!´´ the second says forcefully, the troops still firing.

``I do believe that I'm in charge,´´ she says with a cold tone, looking at the town, ``Do you question my command?´´

He grimaces but doesn't stop the troops from firing. The woman deftly pulls out a sword and, with one swipe, cuts the second down - dead. She then tells the third, who is now the second, that he must tell the troops to stop or else. He does so and the firing stops.

``Get the flamethrowers and cannons up here, dammit!´´ she commands, stomping a bit away from the new second, ``Once they are here, we will destroy them.´´

----
Arelen shakes her head, ``There's no point. We're going to die, though I can't help it. If only she'd listen to me...´´

An idea comes to her mind. She hears the firing stop and, taking a risk, says goodbye to Anafontes. She then opens the door and heads towards the enemy - closer to the firing range and closer to the commander.

``You want me, you've got me.´´

------
The elder Mystic shakes his head saying, ``I haven't had to fight for hundreds of years. All has been peaceful around here until recently... All we have is in this shed.´´

The firing stops and he frowns. He glances at the elf, no words coming to mind.

"What is she doing?" Lael asks. "Is she crazy?" Making a noise of frustration she helps Anafontes into the office. "Well if she's going to try to get herself killed there's not much I can do about it."

The Mystic mother shakes her head and says, ``She knows what she's doing, I do believe. Either way, we're all going to die unless there is a miracle...´´

----
After walking through the tunnel for about ten minutes, the woman hears that the shooting has stopped.

:I don't think that's a good thing.:

The blue haired woman frowns and hisses quietly, ``Of course it's not, Margem. Now just shut up.´´

She continues through the tunnel. She pauses at a T in the path - a second tunnel connecting to the main tunnel that she is in. She knows the way but something about the T makes her recollect her past, before meeting Margem. With a sniff, she continues walking straight.

'We'll be there in about five minutes. Hope that nothing horrible is going to happen before that.'
----

The commander sees the redhead walking up the hill. From the corner of her eye, she sees her second (who used to be the third) raising a gun to kill the woman. The commander pulls out her sword and cuts the man down dead. The forth steps up, now becoming the second, though he wonders when his death will be and if it will be at the commander's hands.

The redhead makes it up to where the troops are. She raises her hands to prove that she has no weapons. The commander laughs, strolling up to the redhead.

``Well well well. If it isn't the clone,´´ the commander snarls in the Mystic's face, ``Piece of crap. He should have never cloned me because you're a poor excuse of a living being.´´

The redhead narrows her eyes and pushes the commander. The force of the push knocks the commander's hood back to reveal crimson red hair tied up in a bun. The commander's light grey eyes glare at the Mystic woman, who returns the glare with her light grey eyes. For the troops, they are stunned by the fact that they are seeing two of the same person. The only way they know who is who is the fact that their commander has a cloak on and the other one has a broken arm. Other than that, there are no differences between the two.

``Listen, Arelen. You don't want to do this.´´

The cloaked woman laughs harshly then, becoming extremely serious says, ``Oh yes, Arelen. I do want to do this. I also want to get rid of you.´´

The redhead raises her voice, ``That's your family down there!!!´´

``And why should you care? This is none of your business, clone!´´

The redhead pushes the commander and says, ``Because that's your family and I'm you! That's why!!!´´

((OOC: To clear things up: Arelen was cloned hundreds of years ago, as well as Margem. Margem's clone was sent to a different place (the real one going home). Arelen's clone went home with Margem as Arelen stayed with the scientist and eventually came to control a magical army. She also was one of the first beings to start the idea of war against the Mystics. Great, huh?))

"I hope so," Lael says. "And whether we're going to die or not, we might as well not invite it. Going out there injured—" She stops when she notices the relative silence. "The shooting has stopped. What is going on out there?"

Darian saw Arelen walking up the hill, and noticed that the shooting had stopped. 'Blood and ashes! What's going on? Your daughter's practically inviting death, but the firing's stopped. And with her out there it bloody well better stay stopped."

The blue haired woman races down through the tunnel, then stops suddenly. She turns her eyes upwards as there is a trap door above her. There are a few rungs of a ladder so she can get up through the trap door.

:Where does this lead to?:

'The shed, actually.'

:That old thing? No one goes in there. It's rusted shut. Why are you wanting to go up into there when there's no way out?:

'Because, dear Margem,' she thinks as she ascends the rungs, 'this is an odd time. Your father would want to get into the shed for the weapons to fight against the enemy.'

She gets up to the trap door and tries to open it but there is something blocking it. She then, taking a risk, knocks on the trap door, hoping that someone is standing on it and that it's not a box.

Philip hears a knocking sound from below the shed. He steps aside, knowing where the trap door was but just reminded about it, and opens it up. Up comes the blue haired woman.

``Hello, Lord Okalwa,´´ she says once she is in the shed. She glances at the elf nearby, ``Darian Moonleaf.´´

Philip says, ``It's been a while since we've seen you, Sanyu. What are you doing back here?´´

``Trying to get the non-Mystics out of here. The commander is after the Mystics, not the elves and the human. They need to leave now before they bring out the cannons and flamethrowers. They have them because I saw them with my own eyes.´´

---
Anafontes flinches and closes her eyes, ``Lael, dear, I think this arrow has something in it. ...my eye sight is starting to become fuzzy.´´

----
The new second raises a gun to shoot the redheaded Mystic. The commander, however, becomes furious and, grabbing a gun from one of the soldiers, shoots the second.

``That's it! I don't need a second because they are all morons!!!´´ the commander screams, ``None of them can understand that I want to kill her myself!´´

The redhead narrows her eyes, ``What has he done to you, Arelen?´´

The commander grins as the flamethrowers and the cannons roll to the top of the hill. She turns the gun on Arelen.

``Good bye, clone,´´ she says, pulling the trigger.

The redhead falls to the ground, dead, as the bullet had gone through her head. The commander laughs and kicks the body down the hill.

She turns back to the troops, putting her hood back on.

``Prepare to fire.´´

"Uh oh," Lael says. "Here, sit down." She helps the older woman into a chair. working quickly, she removes the arrow a few minutes later. "D**n it," she curses. "If it's poisoned, I don't know what they used."

Jay squints then whistles something to Kitara. The blue haired Elven woman lifts her head from setting an arrow and looks out the door. She spots what Jay sees and claps a hand over her mouth.

-It's Arelen.... or what was Arelen.- Jay says to her.

The deceased Mystic lies between the house and the troops - her hair covering her bloody face. Her limps sprawl out in an uncomfortable fashion, even for Mystics - a clear sign of her death.

Kitara nods and heads back to where Lord Okalwa is. She pauses when she sees a blue haired woman near him.

``Kitara, this is Sanyu, a friend of the family. Sanyu, Kitara,´´ Lord Philip Okalwa says, introducing the two of them.

The elvish woman nods to the Mystic woman before nodding her head in front of Lord Okalwa.

``I have come to report the death of Arelen. The shooting will start up soon.´´

Sanyu starts walking briskly to the house as she says, ``It's going to be worse, take my word for it!´´

The Mystic woman heads to the office, as she knows that's where they would put the injured. She also knows, according to Margem's word, that the albino woman (a doctor) would be there. She enters the room to find the albino and Lady Okalwa.

``Milady Anafontes,´´ she says, nodding to Anafontes, then she turns to the albino woman, ``Ma'am, you have to get out of here. The troops surrounding here are worse than you think. Please, take my word and let me help you out of here. If you stay, you will die with all these Mystics.´´

Lady Okalwa nods, here eyes still closed, and says, ``Sanyu's correct, Lael dear... You must leave.´´

Kitara entered the house behind Sanyu and, hearing a twitter from Jay, she rushes back to the front of the house.

``Everyone, brace yourself!!!´´
----

After kicking the body down the hill, the commander watches the troops pack the cannons and the flamethrowers.

She laughs to herself, ``Where's your Mystical strength now, eh? We're going to cook you as if you were veal.´´

She then signals for the first cannon to shoot - aimed directly at the house. A flamethrower is signaled to shoot - aimed at the shed. The two shoot their charge....

((OOC: Dang. I'm actually having fun being the bad person.... >.>))

Lael grabs hold of the desk, which is fortunately heavy enough not to move, as the house shakes with the impact of the cannon. Some plaster from the celling falls around her.

"What was that?" she asks. Shaking her head she continues, "Never mind. I will leave with you. It seems that I have no choice."

Once the flamethrower hits the shed, the structure starts to bend and break. Parts of the roof collapse and, though he tried to jump out of the way, Philip Okalwa was crushed underneath the roof. A rusty roof beam stabbed him straight through the chest.

He now lies beneath the beam, unable to move. He coughs a bit, blood settling on his lip.

``Darian? Are you alright?´´

The collapsed rubble somehow had not landed on the trap door, so if anyone wanted to leave, they could (after going through the firing range, of course).

----
At the moment that Philip was stabbed through the chest by the shed beam, Anafontes gasps. She feels a pain in her chest - thanks to the connected feelings of a pure Mystic couple.

She opens her eyes, unable to see anything anymore due to the pain and the poison.

Though unable to see, she looks around and commands, ``Lael, get out of here! Now!´´

She then lies down, coughing up blood from her husband's wound.

----

The cannon ball had hit it's mark, making a quarter of the top floor collapse. Part of the top floor actually was heavy enough to break through the ceiling of the main floor, onto the Mystics below. Jay, Kitara, and Sanyu had been lucky enough to not be in the main part of the house which had the most received the most damage of the house.

Jay and Kitara instinctively go to help the trapped Mystics but the dark-grey-eyed woman stops them. The two struggle against the woman, who keeps her ground.

``You can not help them. This is not your fight - it is their's. We must leave now, before they fire more rounds.´´

-----
Seeing the damage of the shed, the commander makes a fake pout with her lips, ``What a shame. That warrior is probably dead. ...or is he?´´

She sees the remaining two cannons reach the ridge. They ready to shoot, as does the first one. She then turns to the flamethrower unit. A second flamethrower comes up to the top of the ridge but she stops them.

``One will do enough to smoke them out,´´ she tells the second unit.

Her attention back on the first flamethrower unit, she says, ``Aim for the grass around the house so they have nowhere to go.´´

The unit's leader nods and, after a minute of shouting, the unit fires at the grass by the front of the house.

Lael kneels beside Anafontes. After a moment, she looks up with tears in her eyes. "There's nothing I can do for you," she tells the woman. "I'm so sorry."

After another moment, she goes and stands by Sanyu. "I'm ready," she says. "Lead the way."

((Am I correct in thinking that you're planning to kill off all the mystics except Margem?))
PostPosted: Sat Feb 02, 2008 6:51 pm

Darian does not reply to Philip's question. He had been hit in the head by a piece of rubble when the shed collapsed. He know lay on the ground unconsious, blood darkening his blue hair, his breathing shallow. He was unaware even that the Mystic that had been in the shed with him was dying. His last thought before he had been knocked out was that the attackers were going to pay dearly for killing Arelen.

Kitara and Jay have a hard time facing what the woman said, but finally Jay twitters something to Kitara - answered with a nod.

Sanyu, without hestitating, heads out to where the trap door is. She finds the trap door but she pauses.

As she turns to the unconcious elf nearby, she says to the others, ``Work on opening that door.´´

---
The commander sees the blue haired woman walk out of the house and her blood boils within her. An explosion occurs nearby, then another, then a third one. Many of the troops are wounded and/or dead. When she looks around, she finds the cannons and the flamethrower had exploded, though no one knows why. Some of the troops head to retreive the other cannons and the other flamethrowers. However, right before they reach them, the machines explode.

Her eyes flaming as dark as her crimson hair, the commander withdraws her sword. ``Forget the cannons and flamethrowers. Hand to hand combat! Now!!!´´

The commander then charges down the hill, her troops behind her.

((OOC: Yes, Star. That's what this thread was planned for, aside the fact that it was when Darian and Margem first met - though he lost his memory due to the dagger..... It's a key thread for our story between Darian and Margem. The other threads all follow this one as this may be considered the 'first chapter' of a long tale.

The hardest thing is to get everyone out of danger - excluding Margem's parents and the neighbors - while the rest are killed. Helps that Sanyu's around, though no one has really noticed that she's a Mystic herself... ))
