Leon Court Leon's eyes opened wide, the confession shaking him to his core. He'd said it. He'd really said it! Nikolai loved him. Leone never really doubted it, always knew it, but to have the confirmation, to really hear it, was an experience that left him breathless. He reached behind to tug his shirt out of Nikolai's fists, then turned and wrapped his arms around the slender male's form. " I love you too," he breathed, tears rising in his eyes and starting to spill out as he held the man to his body and stroking the silver curls. " I love you so much, Nikolai!" Deep inside, Leon knew what was going to happen now. Nikolai had told him a long time ago that he could never admit it, and that admitting it was deadly. Unfortunately, he couldn't even dwell on it. All he could handle was that Nikolai loved him, and that was the most wonderful feeling in the world.

ϨʟфϮɧ  His teary eyes still closed, Nikolai hugged Leon tightly, a couple more tears falling off his face, but whether they were of joy or sadness was a mystery. He gripped Leon's shirt tightly again, but it was for an entirely different reason. His Sin branded pulsed with the error he had made, and it burned. It was cliche, but love was a Sin's biggest weakness. When they admitted their love for someone they were giving themselves up completely to them. They no longer lived for the sole purpose of spreading their plague throughout the world, and with that distraction, they were no longer fit to become a Sin. It was law, and as Leon and Nikolai stood in their embrace, the process of separation had begun. Three days. It only took three days. More tears fell from Nikolai's face as he realized how his fate had been sealed. He would make sure to make them the best he could for Leon. Letting go of his shirt, Nikolai cupped Leon's cheeks in his hands and pulled him down for a passionate yet shaky kiss.  ............................................................................... ...............................................................................

] Leon CourtLeon sweetly returned the kiss, reaching down to lift the man he loved so entirely. This sort of confession deserved a celebration! Suddenly, he pulled away, confused eyes staring down at Nikolai. " You're shaking," he observed, tilting his head. " What is it?"

ϨʟфϮɧ Nikolai smiled tearfully down at Leon and stroked his cheek lovingly. " I'm just not used to talking like this, dearie." he whispered. " To being able to say that I love you. I feel as though a weight's been lifted from my shoulders." he smiled and kissed him again. Leon Court" Then you should keep saying it as much as possible," he whispered against Nikolai's lips as he started towards the bedroom. " Over and over again, Nikolai. I'll never be tired of hearing it." He kissed the Sin back, barely aware of that feeling that something was terribly wrong.

ϨʟфϮɧ " You only want to hear that from me, don't you?" Nikolai chuckled and allowed himself to be laid on the bed. He already dropped his coat and unbuttoned his shirt, allowing to let Leon do whatever he wanted. Hell, he might even top him himself. Just one last time, as long as Leon was happy. ~~~The second day. At first it had started off well enough. Nikolai was able to wake up fine in Leon's arms and move about without any pain, but as noon approached he developed a strong couch that only got stronger by the hour. He kept insisting to Leon that it was only a cold he caught from the weather, but he knew there wouldn't be any possibility to hide it later. Midday had arrived, and Nikolai had gotten home from the school, his tone paler than usual, though his eyes were still lively. He walked over to greet Leon, but in the midst of his wave his body had shuddered with an upcoming cough. He stopped and held onto the edge of the cough with one hand and coughed into his other. It was a violent cough, very similar to those who had the advanced stages of pneumonia. And like those illnesses, his hand was coated in blood afterwards. ..............................................................................................................................................................

Leon CourtLeon looked up from his book, smiling at the man he loved so entirely. Setting the book aside, he stood to go to him, only to freeze at the sound of the cough. It was stronger than before, wet and sickening, at even from afar, Leon could see the blood. Fear struck him to the core, and he practically flew to the Sin's side. " Nikolai!" Taking the man into his arms and off of the couch, the teacher looked over him, confused and frightened. " W-we need to get you to the hospital! How long... how long has it been like this?"

Leon CourtLeon followed his gaze, the tears falling as he caught sight of the fading word. " What's happening to your brand?" he whispered, horror and fear in his tone. His eyes tore from the brand to look up at Nikolai. " What's going on, Nikolai?"

ϨʟфϮɧ A bitter smile appeared on the pale man's face as he stared at his disintegrating brand. " You of all people should know, dearie." he whispered and looked up at Leon. His eyes, flashing hazel now and then, were remorseful and apologetic. ϨʟфϮɧ " I told you long ago that I couldn't tell you I loved you, didn't I? That wasn't because I wasn't used to not saying that word. As cliche as it sounds, love a weakness of mine." He winced as the pain shot through his arm again. " I became a Sin because I had no reason to live, but then I met you... and now I have a reason." He closed his eyes and chuckled at his ironic statement. He lived because he didn't want to, and now he dies because he wants to live. If Fate couldn't keep Leon away from him, then it would just take him out of the equation altogether, wouldn't it? ..............................................................................................................................................................

Leon Court" But... You can't leave me like this," he said, carrying Nikolai over to the couch and sitting on it, holding the dying man in his arms. " How long do you have?" His voice broke at the end, the tears never once stopping to fall. His heart was completely breaking, and it was different than when Maggie died. He was losing the most important thing in his world... all over again.

ϨʟфϮɧ Feeling himself get carried to the couch, Nikolai opened his eyes and looked up at Leon's face. " So this is what it's like to die in someone's arms, is it?" he whispered to himself and weakly lifted his good hand to stroke Leon's cheek and brush some tears away from him. " It takes three days for a Sin and a human's soul to separate, so tomorrow will be my last day." His expression softened considerably. " Don't cry for me, dearie. I'm glad I could die with you by my side. You will stay with me til the end... yes?" He didn't even want to toy with the thought of Leon trying to train Maggie during his final hours. ..............................................................................................................................................................

Leon CourtHe shook his head, raising one hand to keep Nikolai's there. " This can't be the end for us," he pleaded, shaking. " We've been through so much, fought to be together again. I can't... I can't lose you again, Nikolai." He bowed his head, forehead touching Nikolai's. " I'll stay with you, no matter what. I will never leave your side."
