Hmph. Taking an attack to give one. Clever... Avan observed. Kali took the fire attack and as she did, Avan commanded, "Disable! Then put some distance between you and use Night Shade!" Kali's eyes brightened and aimed to use Disable on the Tepig, sealing it's Ember attack; and at the current distance between them , would be difficult to dodge. Then after that, whether it hit or not, Kali would float backwards and launch a blue-black beam at Tepig; Night Shade.

Robby had no idea what those moves were called, so when the disable hit Bacon without doing anything, he shrugged. "Dodge-'n-spit!" He called. The pig pokemon managed to dodge the incoming Night Shade, and opened its mouth, spitting out a small bit of smoke. "Er..." Robby fought off panic and called a new order. "Sniff it!" Odor sleuth, something that he only knew helped the pokemon aim.
That rushing attack hadn't worked before, but maybe it was a trick like what was just done... If not, well, this was gonna be a short fight with the spit apparently puffed out... Being Robby, he assumed that it was either a trick or pokemon fatigue. "Rush it!"
So, after sniffing the air, Bacon would move forwards again with a tackle towards the yamask. Hopefully, it wouldn't be a mistake. Odds were, he'd be hit while trying...

Cilan accepted Takamaru's handshake. "I'm Cilan of the Striaton Gym, and this is my bother Cress," he introduced as he stepped back. Cress bowed once again.
"Cilan, I am able to take it from here. Will you take over my tables for me?" Cress asked Cilan with a dismissive handwave. Cilan nodded and turned away.
"Sure Cress, anything you say, Cress...nobody ever battles Cilan...nobody chooses Oshawott..." Cilan mumbled to himself as he walked to go wait on tables, loud enough that Cress could hear. Cress smirked and then motioned to the arena.
"It shall be I and my esteemed Water types that you will face in battle. Care to begin?"

"Definitely" Takamaru grinned and complied by following Cress to the arena. "i Like this guy, he gets straight to the point" Takamaru whispered to Iron Hide as they walked. Walking behind Cress Takamaru Asked "So um, i have a question. this is my first official Gym battle and all and every thing so I'm a little um...how should i put it.... 'Ignorant' about how this works, could you clear it up for me? like various rules, what should happen if i were to loose and all that" His asked keeping his stride equal to Cress's, His shorter legs working a tad harder in the process.

The Purrloin continued to travel through the city now having some time for herself as she soon takes her adventures to the outside of the city looking back at the area she was at before being captured. As the Purrloin started towards the Dreamyard something caught its eye was another human that seemed to be watching a on going battle between two pokemon and trainers Purrloin moves up behind Avan and sat there watching the battle as well as the humans.

Sniff it? I wonder what that means. It didn't look like an attack. Well, I won't let us find out.
"Kali, remember the Woobat! Night Shade one after the other! Don't let it dodge!" Avan commanded. Kali had already backed up far enough to see Bacon start to rush it. With opponent in sight, the Yamask let loose rays of Night Shade. In the event Tepig dodged all the Night Shade beams, the pig pokemon would slam into Kali with the Tackle attack.

Cress smirked as he opened the glass door to the arena. Takamaru was enthusiastic, a good sign for a rookie. "This battle will test your skills as a trainer to make sure you are ready for your journey. If you defeat me, you will receive a gym badge as proof of your capability as a trainer."
"The rules are simple. This will be a one on one match between your Aron and a pokemon of my own. Whoever defeats the other is the victor." He pointed to the trainer boxes set up on each side of the arena.
"Exiting your trainer box during the match results in a disqualification. Additionally, you may not use items for this battle. The only sway you have on the fight is your word as a trainer."
Cress folded his arms and stopped walking, turning in front of Takamaru abruptly to face the trainer. "Do you have any more questions?"

Rays of nightshade. Crap. "Play evasion!" Robby called, not even sure how that was supposed to work. Dodge attacks that kept firing and attack? Ridiculous. But he was no strategist, and that was the limit of his ability as a trainer.
Bacon, however, had an idea. The attack was limited. The opponent couldn't fire them all at him at once, it was limited to one at a time. So they could be dodged. Not all of them, but enough...
The pokemon moved in a pattern at first, zig-zags to evade the strikes that were on-coming, moving forward fairly little, giving a need to aim at a wide range of areas for the opponent. That thought through, he moved more narrowly with his zig-zag pattern after it was an obvious predictability, and finally would begin moving to dodge the ones he could see as he could see them while moving forwards.
The truth was, not all of the attacks were dodge-able. The frightening image that had pulled itself up when he was struck almost had the pokemon hesitating, but the lack of focus on it from the owner allowed him to keep moving. To face his fears to protect his trainer, you could say. So the pokemon didn't stop moving forwards, even when one had caught him during his pattern...

Still going after that hit? And another Tackle? But it didn't work last time... Avan seemed confused by all this, but it was no time for contemplation. "Alright Kali, ag-" The tackle slammed into the Spirit pokemon. It was stronger than expected; sending Kali rearing back. Avan stood there wide-eyed and when Kali brought herself back to an upright position, turned and looked at Avan like 'what happened?'
"I- I have n- what?" The boy didn't know how to reply to his pokemon. He shook it off. "It seems there are still many things I don't know about Pokemon." He called to Robby. "That was...unexpected." Avan looked at the Yamask. "You ok?" Kali nodded back in response.
"Alright, it seems we're back to square one, Kali." The boy flicked his bangs out of his eye. "New plan. Kali, get it close and use Night Shade at point blank. If it attacks, Protect and fire."
Kali floated quickly at Bacon, prepared to use it's attack.

Bacon's blow hit, and Robby let himself grin. That thing had to be tiring, no way it could use that attack too many more times, and the trainer seemed shocked too. Well, the pokemon could sniff out any tricks they might use!
Bacon, it seemed, had returned to his side, though, not wanting to attack while the other trainer was too close. Also, he doubted that might work again, and was hoping for new orders.
"Get in close. Pretend to attack once, tackle to duck underneath it 'cause it'll probably fire at you, then tackle." He said, looking at the other trainer. Hopefully he didn't hear the orders, cause he hadn't been able to tell what the other had said...
Tepig moved in, ready to make through with its plan. First step, once close enough, it was make a short jump, as though he was tackling, though he stopped before the other pokemon, and then would continue with Robby's plan. Unless, of course, something else happened...

While walking, Takamaru Returned Iron Hide to his Heavy ball and placed it on his belt, if he were going to do this he was going to do it right. In Takamaru's eye's sending your partner out and the start of the battle is just another one of the exciting parts in being a trainer.
After being asked if he had any more questions he closed his eyes and rested his chin in his hand thinking "Hmmm, Just one thing, can we start this? My nerves and pre-battle anxiety are killing me!" he groaned a little playfully, a grin creeping upon his face as his excitement sky rocketed. he was now literally bouncing up and down on the balls of his feet, his young age showing all the more.

"Hm. You are proving to be quite the entertaining trainer. Very well then."
Cress entered his trainer box, and his pokeball was sent up from the mechanical chute next to him. He caught it and pressed a button on a control panel only his side had.
The floor of the arena began to slide over, revealing a grassy field from underneath. It had a few large rocks on the sides, but other than that it was quite neutral.
"I, Cress of the Striaton Triplets, accept your challenge Takamaru! We shall begin!" The blue haired waiter threw his pokeball into the air with a flourishing hand gesture, closing his eyes mysteriously as he did so. "Go, Panpour!"
The water monkey flipped out of the red light and onto the field, giving a brief wave to Takamaru when it landed. "The challenger has the first move," Cress told the trainer with a smile.

'entertaining? what's that suppose to mean?' Takamaru thought but had no time to contemplate it's meaning as he Rushed over to his Trainer box while Cress went to his. After being told he would be the one to make the first move he took Ironhide's Heavy ball From his trainer belt and clicked the button in the center of the ball in which to enlarge it. "Alright, get ready for this!" he shouted as he spun his heavy ball on his index finger. he let the ball fall into his hand and the flung it soaring in the air over the arena, "Iron Hide, Standby" the small Iron pokemon appeared in a burst of white light awaiting his trainer's first command.
"right then" Takamaru said replacing the ball on his belt, "Headbutt!" Takamaru commanded and Iron Hide was off. Takamaru and Iron Hide have played this plan before, just before Iron Hide will come into contact with the panpour it will disengage the attack and feint to the left where he well act out on his trainers next order, this formation will allow Takamaru to see how Cress calls out his orders and how panpour obeys them, then see if he can spot any opening which he could later exploit.
'the only way to beat an opponent with an obvious type advantage is to cover your Type weakness, get the timing down, and pay attention to the way your opponent battles.' Takamaru's Mothers words echoed through his head as the battle began...

[Location: Dreamyard]
Using Odor Sleuth might have turned the tables around for the small Tepig, though Winterson. "The Tepig and its trainer, they seem skilled," he said. "But the other trainer with the Yamask has been pulling off a series of varying attacks. That Yamask is one mysterious Pokemon, I'd say,"
The battle went on with him and his Pokemon acting as spectators. However, his role as a spectator only lasted until he remembered one particular reason for being here in the Dream Yard. In the first place, he was supposed to be training both Alexandra and Prince, and while he was at it, perhaps, find a few new Pokemon on the way. As soon as he realized that, the lad merely calmly turned around, and proceeded. Prince soon followed, and Cubchoo, well, she was resting in her trainer's arms, trying to get some rest. She seemed rather weary of her sickness.
Not long after leaving behind the two trainers who were still in the heat of battle, Winterson eventually noticed another person who was walking towards the gates, which was towards him as well. It was a girl, and apparently, once she took notice of him, she began to wave her hand, calling.
"HEEEEY!!" called out the girl.
In doubt, the lad looked left, and right, checking to see if there was anybody around in particular. He then looked at the girl, and shot at her a rather puzzled expression, with his index finger raised and pointed at his own face.
"Yes! You with the Cubchoo and the Glaceon. Come over here," bid the girl. Winterson then assumed the girl to be harmless at first. She could be, after all. She was a stranger, but even so, it would be rude not to give notice to a person who was calling your attention. Prince followed and Alexandra cuddled closer to him as he walked towards the girl, and once he had gotten a bit closer, the girl immediately dropped to her knees on the green grassy ground. Following her knees, would be her forehead. "I have a request, please, do find it in your heart to help me," she pleaded.
The girl seemed desperate, and she seemed to be rather untidy as well. Winterson then hesitated, but he did not judge. He waited for what the girl had to say. "Well, I'm not so sure if I can, but, okay. I guess I have time. What seems to be the problem?" he asked. The girl immediately raised her face in response.
"A nasty Purrloin came out of the shadows. It attacked me and my Pokemon, and it stole something that belongs to me, too! Darn that Purrloin. Oh, could you please help me?" she cried.
"A Purr-what? Is that a Pokemon?" asked Winterson. As he wasn't really from Unova, he did not really know what a Purrloin looked like.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I guess you're not from around here. Yes, well," said the girl, as she picked herself up from the ground, dusting soil off of her clothing. "My name is Anette, and, well, you see, my pokemon and I fought a strong Purrloin earlier. A Purrloin is a small dark Pokemon with a sharp gaze in its eye, and a tail. It walks on four legs, and it has cute big ears. I wanted to catch one, but it was too strong. Once we whited out, it got a hold of my pearl necklace. Well, actually, it was my mother's, so, I really need to have it back because... Well... I borrowed it without her knowing and I'd be so dead if I didn't get it back. I'll give you a reward if you can get it back for me, so please. Please help me?" again, pleaded the girl.
"I see. Well, in any case, sure. I guess I can help you. Which way did this Purr-loine go?" asked Winterson.
"It went that way, into the ruined building. It might just be hiding somewhere there. Purrloin like dark places where they can be alone," she explained. "Thank you so much! I will be waiting for you here. Also, please try to take good care of the necklace. I wouldn't want my mother to find it all damaged and stuff," she added.
"Ugh," grunted the lad. He turned around, and began to walk, being a bit irritated at the girl's silly request. "Alright," he said, heaving out a sigh from his chest afterwards. "I'll try to spot that Pokemon and find your necklace. This should be as good as training, as well as to fill in this Pokedex," said he, who was already slowly walking straight into the abandoned building.
The old and rundown establishment was no more than an empty space inside. Sure, there were a few busted walls here and there, but it was clean. Time and nature had gotten the better of the old thing. A small amount of sunlight made its way into the building from the holes on the ceiling. It was dim, not dark, and Winterson could still see perfectly well, right down to the mossy wall which was about forty to fifty feet away, give or take. The lad looked from left to right, scanning the area for any sign of the Pokemon that the girl described, but there seemed to be nothing there.
"Oh well, I guess I'll go on further. Prince, stay on your guard," he said, telling his Glaceon to keep its guard up.
"Glay," [Understood] it replied.
Winterson proceeded. He and Prince slowly explored the ruins of the Dreamyard, but there was really nothing there. Perhaps, if he had one of those Dowsing Machine programs, or even a Poketch, then maybe he'd be able to find the pearl necklace, and the Purrloin a lot faster. It was a pretty boring search, and a few minutes passed by, spent on walking and looking over stuff, but to no avail, the Purrloin was nowhere to be seen. The pearl necklace was still missing, which could mean that it was still with the Purrloin.
The lad soon made his way to the center of what used to be a lobby based on the huge space. It was probably big enough to fit two buses, or three. Looking around still did not do him any good, and he was getting bored already. "I think we should go back now," he said. "We've searched the whole place and, well, sad as I am to tell her the truth, I doubt we could do anything more than this in this empty space,"
And so, Winterson began to trace back his steps, and return to the entrance with Prince by his side, and Alexandra in his arms. After taking a few steps, however, Prince and Winterson stopped, and suddenly, the lad turned around, with Cubchoo wide awake.
"Alexandra, Powder Snow!"
And Alexandra had blasted a chilling stream of mild wind at what seemed to be a Pokemon suspended in mid-air. The Pokemon was blasted away, and was bathed in snow, flipping backwards, but still, it was able to land on all fours, stable, and with poise. The Pokedex was already out, and reading the Pokemon on the field...
"Purrloin, the Devious Pokemon. Its cute act is a ruse. When victims let down their guard, they find their items taken. It attacks with sharp claws"
Winterson kept the Pokedex almost immediately after it had identified the Pokemon, so, this was a Purrloin, a black furred feline Pokemon. "It looks like a Glameow," he said. "Well, I guess the girl outside was just careless enough to bend down to it and try to befriend it," he said, and the Purrloin hissed, raising its tail, and raising a beaded accessory into the air. The pearl necklace - the target. Undoubtedly, this little Pokemon was angry.
"Chill out for a second, Purrloin. We're just here for the necklace," he said, but Alexandra was already up front. A Pokemon Battle.
"Purrloin," it hissed, and with it, it charged at the little Cubchoo with blinding speed.
"FAST!" exclaimed the lad. "Alexandra, Powder Snow from the left side and turn to your right!"
"Cuuub-choo!" and as if sneezing, the Cubchoo turned its head from left, to right, setting up a freezing wall of snowy air before it. However, the Purrloin was going fast, and it tore through the wall receiving minimal damage, and inflicting a direct hit to Cubchoo by using an attack known as Pursuit. The Purrloin charged through the snow with a dark aura flowing right out of its body, damaging Cubchoo, who was thrown back. Thinking quickly, Winterson bent down, catching Cubchoo before it would fly farther off.
"It's super fast. You think you can handle this one, Alex?" Winterson asked, checking up on the Cubchoo who just got the air knocked out of her.
"Cubchoo, cub," [I can take it, yes,] it replied with a nod.
"Good, that's the spirit. We'll charge at it, and then, use Powder Snow, and when it gets close enough, use Bide. From then on, just sit tight and wait it out," told Winterson. Cubchoo nodded, and then, broke away from her trainers arms, charging at the Purrloin while preparing to attack, a fine mist oozing from its mouth.
"Powder Snow," but then, the Purrloin almost immediately got close. It raised its paw, and retracted its claws, ready to slash at Alexandra. "Now, use Bide,"
Shifting, the Cubchoo ducked down into a cradle position. Meanwhile, the Purrloin was attacking her with a flurry of scratches. A fury swipes attack. "I thought so. Hold on, Cubchoo. Just a little more. Prince, while it's busy with Cubchoo, swipe away that pearl necklace, then, get out of there immediately,"
"Glay!" [Right!], and the Glaceon was off to follow what Winterson told it to do. It ran, and jumped high into the air behind the Purrloin, and with its mouth, took the necklace. But the Purrloin had noticed, and right then and there, turned its attention to Prince. "Release Bide, Glaceon, move away!" he yelled, and so, it did by jumping high. By the time it had evaded, Purrloin was well distracted, and the returning attack of the Bide struck it head on, square behind the head. The Purrloin was blown away, and landed on the floor rolling a few more feet before stopping completely still. Alexandra got up, and raised a paw into the air, proud of its victory, but then again, full of scratches. The Purrloin tried to get up, but it was far, too weak already.
"Pokeball, go!" and a Pokeball flew from Winterson's hand and hit the small Pokemon. In one throw, because the Purrloin was already weakened, it was caught. Mission accomplished.
The trio of Winterson, and his two Pokemon, soon made their way out of that building, with the girl named Anette sitting right outside. Winterson was holding onto the pearl necklace, as well as Alexandra, while Prince was walking beside him. Winterson approached Anette, and handed over the necklace which seemed to still be in good condition. "I guess this belongs to you? Right?" he said, handing in the necklace to its 'rightful' owner.
"Oh you've found it! Thank you very much. I hope that Purrloin didn't give you that much of a bother," she said, taking the piece of jewelry and putting it around her neck again. "That Pokemon is a tricky one. One moment, it was coming up to me like it was an obedient little pet, but soon as a bent down to pet it, it grabs a hold of my necklace and scratches my hand. I know it was troublesome, so, here. A gift for you," she added, showing Winterson a Pokeball.
"What is that?" Winterson asked. "Are you giving me a Pokeball with a Pokemon inside of it?"
"Yes. This here is a Panpour. It is one out of three Pokemon of the same species which can be found here in Unova. Take it. Since you're a trainer, you could probably take even better care of it than me," she said. "So there, take it. It's yours,"
"Wow, thank you very much," Winterson replied. "I'll be sure to take good care of this one,"
"Alright, now. I have to go home quickly before my mom finds out that her necklace is missing. I'll see you around, uh,"
"It's Winterson," he said.
"Oh, yeah. Okay then. Good bye, Winterson and thanks again!" said Anette as she ran off towards the exit, waving goodbye to him. He waved goodbye to her too. She was surely nice enough to give him a reward, but, well, he didn't think that he deserved this much of a reward. "Oh well, I guess the three of us are here again. Hence, it's time to train. Let's go guys," he said. Leaving, Winterson, and his two Pokemon went further into the Dreamyard, hoping to encounter more new Pokemon, and hoping to find an excellent place to train and set up camp for the afternoon.

Cress rubbed his chin. Takamaru decided to started with a direct strike, it had seemed. "I see...that might be a good attack." Now Panpour was on the defensive, but Cress had a move to use here. "Scald!"
The monkey took a deep breath and reared it's head back. Then it brought it's head back down and unleashed a torrent of boiling water from its mouth towards Iron Hide, keeping its eyes trained on the pokemon so it could track the Aron down and get the hit.
Takamaru had made a smart decision with his battle plan, but Cress was also an observational battler himself. The moment he realized that Iron Hide was running towards his Panpour with an ulterior motive was the moment he knew he could strike. If Iron Hide decided to move out of the way, Panpour would swivel it's head to match it's opponents motion. Dodging the Scald would depend on if Iron Hide could outrun the attack for it's duration. And if it hit, the Aron could suffer a potentially crippling Burn.
****
“She hails from Nimbasa City. Did not take a starter pokemon from the professor of Nuvema Town. Currently has three pokemon on her, a Joltik, a Darumaka, a Litwick…”
N held the piece of paper up a little bit longer before letting it fall on the floor. He flopped onto his bed in the pokemon center. Although most of the trainers that he saw walk into the building made him sick to his stomach, he couldn’t deny that this place was secure. No one would be keeping tabs on him here.
Zero was curled up at the foot of the bed, snoring quietly. Her nose twitched, and N craned his head up to look over at her. “Are you dreaming, Zero?” N asked the sleeping pokemon, not expecting a reply. “I hope it’s nice-“
A footstep came up from behind him. The door had no opened, or at least the green haired trainer hadn’t heard it open. And the window was closed. The footstep had come out of absolutely nowhere. N was startled for a moment, but then regained himself quickly. He wasexpecting this.
“Do you have more news for me?”
An androgynous figure of average height walked over to the side of the bed. It had on black pants that cut off just under its knees, and the rest of its legs and feet were wrapped in a grey protective cloth. On its torso was a sleeveless black shirt, and black gloves adorned its hands to prevent fingerprints. Atop its head was a white wig, completely covering any hair on its head. Its face was mostly covered by a black mask, save for its grey eyes. N could tell that they were contact lenses, but he could not tell what the color underneath was.
“…an update on Henrietta’s report, my lord,” the figure told N. The voice was definitely male, and sounded to be around N’s age. But it was distorted with another voice over it for masking. “It seems she had befriended a Roggenrola and has added it to her party.”
“Another pokemon?...What about the other two?”
“The Battle Girl’s Eevee will not take hit in battle. Once she does, she refuses to fight for her trainer any longer. The third has not shown any interesting changes, although he is still training to defeat the Striaton Gym.”
The figure handed N another piece of paper. “This report contains the next list of candidate potentials from this area. Avan, Robby, Kijin, Eunmi, Winterson, and Takamaru.”
N took the piece of paper and looked down at it, memorizing the names and info for each one. It wasn’t a piece of paper he’d like to carry around. “Thank you. You can tell-“
He looked up and the figure was gone. Unlike his entrance, there was no sound to signal his departure. He was simply no longer there. N’s eyes darted around the room for a second.
“Zeh.”
He looked over to his Zorua, who was stretching in her sleep. N face became warm, and he reached over to gently scratch Zero’s chin. “Sweet dreams.”
