Desmond had played constantly against a genius slave when he was on the market. Of course Desmond had been moving the pieces for both of them as they were locked up and the chess board was on the guards table, not that the guards ever played chess. No one but Desmond had ever beaten that other slave at chess.

Scott was still in Ata's room and was now laying down on the bed. He had trouble trusting Ata, not knowing when the man was going to get mad at him for something he'd done.
The twins had come from their room and had gone outside, they wanted to go back to the mansion. They glanced back at the house. Ata was busy with Scott. Now was their chance. They started to run towards the mansion, hoping they'd reach it before Ata noticed they were gone.
