"Mostly practicing what Miyu taught me the last time she was here," Ruque replied. "Water and wind. Seeing what I can do with them, how they work, how they affect the air around me ... that sort of stuff. After all, you don't want to be doing things without realizing their repercussions."

"True," Lin nodded as she ushered Miyuki in to take a seat somewhere, "Miyu will be glad that you're practicing. She's here too, though probably taking a visit again with Aragost or looking at the changes made to Haven."
There were a lot of changes after all, and she wasn't sure where Aragost was living now that the old barracks was no longer in use.
Miyuki chose to sit near the nekos because she knew them.

Ruque smiled and nodded. "Perhaps I'll have to make a trip to the ranch to visit her," he mused. "Maybe she could comment on my progress."
"Maybe you should come back to Gaia, even just for a bit, and study magic at Fuilteach," Kaito suggested. "Obaa-san would be happy to have you, I know, and I'm sure you could stay with Kaa-san, or us even."

It was true that Ruque would have many places to stay if he were to visit to study magic but Lin wondered if he would. To study magic could take months or longer and the amount of time that would have passed....
"What's Fuliteach?" Miyuki asked.
She had never been to a school before, and Lin hadn't felt a need to explain Fuliteach since Lin didn't spend most of her time in school neither save for high school and that was just to socialize.

"Fuilteach is the school where Obaa-san is the headmistress, a school that teaches fighting and magic," Kaito explained. "If Ruque were to go there, he could learn to do all sorts of things with his magic, and he wouldn't have to just experiment with it to find out those things. He could learn a lot more in a fraction of a time."

Miyuki thought about it, "So you go to school when there's no one else to teach you?"
To her it made sense because she always had someone to teach her so she never had to go to school. Not to mention it was highly impractical for Miyuki to go to school.

"Exactly," Kaito agreed. "Because sometimes the people who teach you can only teach you so much, they can't teach you what they don't know - so then you go somewhere where there are people who do know more and can teach you more."
"I used to go there," Celebor grinned, "back when I was young."

"We all did at one point," Lin replied, "I did, though I was a part time student there."
Only because Lin spent most of her time being home schooled or self schooled, and since she proven she could read, write and do math, and knew several languages there wasn't much anyone could do.

"To be fair," Shiro spoke up, "I don't think anyone in our family spent a whole lot of time there. Celebor was there the longest, I think, and he was only there for a few years."
Skye had never gone, and Shiro had left extremely early.

"It can't be helped, we grow fast and learn faster to keep up the pace," Lin shrugged, "It got awkward after a while. The only people who had a good time of it were those in the fighter class, and that was only because they could shift their academic study over to their physical studies more if they jumped too far ahead."
From her understanding that was how Feng, Ryu and Triton managed it. Which was why they knew a wide range of things involving the art of combat.
"And we've never had anyone in the family save Miyu who could be in the magic class, and she wasn't because the classes made her nervous."

"The rest of us just went for the academics," Shiro nodded, "but I just couldn't stay interested."
"Surprise surprise," Celebor quipped with a straight face.
Kaito flicked one ear. "I never went."

"I believe you went ahead and took every exam available and became the fastest full graduate the school has ever had," Lin told Shiro plainly.
As for Kaito, she forgot sometimes that he never went to school, but he was just as well educated as the rest of them.
"Kaito, you were always full of energy, more so than you are now."

"That, and he couldn't speak comprehensively until he became a teen," Shiro added, glancing at his feral brother. "I think he probably would have torn the school apart."
Kaito grinned. "You taught me everything you learned, what was the point?"

"Not much, you have a the same talent as Shiro, you would have been bored out of your skull," Lin replied dryly.
She knew Kaito, he needed to be on the move, he was like the kid who had to sit on a bouncy ball because a chair would only mean accidents in the end.
Miyuki looked between the three adults, she couldn't tell if they liked school or not.
"Did you like school?"

Shiro chuckled at Miyuki. "School isn't meant for people like me. I learned too fast, and I got really bored ... so I liked the school aspect, but I didn't like the classes."
"I never went to school," Earendil added. "I had a tutor - Sir Valdemar taught me everything I needed to know, and Uncle Eldrin taught me fighting."
