Umada, hoping that the other humans wouldn't end up like him, hid a handful of them into safety and told them to run when Hallows Eve finally ended.

Aylluxi took in Lee as her apprentice, whether either of them like it or not. Having been the one to pass the poison into him, they had a forced connection, where he was to listen whatever she said for him to do and create a mental noise if he refused.
