It's the Akodo school ability. He gets a free raise whenever his opponents make raises against him AND he gets to ignore armor or take a free raise.

Raganui Minamoto ... ignoring armor and free raises?! Only my first attack of the skirmish gets me a free raise. I don't get it again, sadly.

I gain a free raise when:
I make my first attack of the skirmish
Someone makes a raise against me
Call one for free instead of ignoring armor
I also add my water ring to damage or for a contested battle roll.

Also, you kill 2 birds with 1 stone by substituting your Kenjutsu with your Iaijutsu rank. You're built for Iaijutsu though, I'm built for battle razz

I was amazingly surprised that you did not get a single hit on me, even though you keep 5 dice. I am baffled. Your character is basically an elf with A shitload of Dex and high probabilities to hit, and you didn't hit me. You DID take a dude down in one hit, before he even did anything.

It's a case of, I should have used a Void Point, but I was hoping the dice WOULDN'T give me s**t rolls.

Yeah, I'd say it's karma for what the Lion have been through thanks to the Crane XD But then again, I haven't beaten anyone in initiative so far. And I barely didn't beat Plainsfox, not until I hit him back with a Full Attack.
