"Now, we get to do all the hard work. Diplomacy is the best first move. I need to send messengers to all of the underground micro-nations of various mythical creatures and see what their alegence will cost me. I need to light a fire under my investment managers and strategically buy up some of the stock in a few areas--that'll give me leverage AND money in the mundane world. I should probably call up Helena and Eris and get their support; they'll be mad if they miss my coordination party, anyway," she rambled. "Oh, and I need fly Ambrose the troll in from Denmark and track down my selkie contacts--controlling bridges and seas will sway any battle we have to fight. And I should promote Kyo to be my official secretary. He does it unofficially, anyway, so he might as well get a raise for his efforts. You might want to hire a few extra body guards--the disposable sort that will scout out dangerous situations, and the long-term type for taking care of....delicate situations. Also, I need to get a trusted hematologist on full time to control our blood flow. The last thing we need is someone trying to poison us with dead or tainted blood. And that's just the tip of the iceberg."

She smiled up at him, remembering their torrid day under the sheets. This was going to be a wonderful adventure.

"We should find Val and set him to work on that portal he promised me. He's been taking a lot of liberties with Mouse, and she's not even his yet," she finished.

Val smirked and accepted the offered drink. he took a swig and tried not to flinch. he honestly hated vodka, but anything helped right now.

when Alfons called up, he called back. "come up here. Dmitri's too drunk to make it down there."

Scarlet followed the scents of booze and tobacco out to the odd gathering of friends.

"Do I need to start enforcing drinking and smoking regulations at work?" she teased. "Or are none of us on the clock yet?"

"There's always work to be done," Scarlet scolded even as she smiled. She waited until the muscle-bound servant was back on the ground. She gave the man an appriciative pat on the arm and climbed up the ladder. Once on the roof, she blew a kiss to ghe smaller servant. They both beemed as of they had been given medals for service above-and-beyond.

"I suppose a little lounging never killed anyone," she relented with a touch of irony in her voice. "Even if it did, I'm dead already. So I'll join you for a while. At least until my new secritary chases me into my office."

Scarlet caught Ciro's look and smiled back.

"My servants are loyal, although most have sordid backgrounds," she mused out loud. "If you want to sift through my staff and promote any of them, feel free. Kyo knows most of the underground mythicals, so feel free to pick his brain. He should be coming around soon with a list of things to do, this evening; he is my new secretary, after all--Alfons, you're making me crave a pipe!"

Val emmediately straightened up and gazed at Scarlet, attentively.

"what's the first order, then?" he asked calmly and seriously.

being told to make multiple Portals brought a huge, fangy grin to the Elf's face, and he already began mentally planning blueprints. he went to gather his supplies, and then scope out the premises. he knew he'd have a few days work ahead of him just in this location alone.
