Arielle felt Kedrick wipe her face gently. He had been so silent when she told the story, which was completely understandable. Still, the silence was a small thing that she feared. When he turned her face towards his, she wanted to avert her gaze, but she couldn't keep looking away from him forever.
What Kedrick said next somewhat surprised her and made her want to cry more, but cry out of happiness. She felt her cheeks warm just a bit when she felt his forehead on hers. His words were so reassuring, she knew she could believe him. Her cheeks grew warmer when he said that he loved her. He had said it before at the Harvest Dance, but hearing it again filled her with so much joy.
More silent tears ran down her cheeks, but she didn't care anymore. She stopped hugging herself and hugged Kedrick, laying her head on his chest and letting her tears slowly soak his shirt. "Thank you, Kedrick..."

Kedrick leaned back slightly so he half-pulled her into his lap. "Shhh....It's okay..." He said quietly, smoothing her hair, touching his lips gently to her forehead and rocking back and forth. Kedrick knew they would eventually have to talk about what they where going to do tomorrow about Jonsey, but now wasn't the time, Arielle needed time to calm down. He began to softly hum a tune that his mother used to sing to him and the rest of his siblings at night time.

Everything that Kedrick did next reminded her of the days when she was younger, and either one of her parents would calm her down or even her grandparents. She closed her eyes, still feeling some of her tears slowly fall down her face, but she had stopped sobbing by then. The sound of the soft tune that Kedrick was humming was enough to make her tears slowly come to a stop as she listened to him. The tune was so peaceful, it really did help her calm down. She didn't open her eyes at all, just kept them closed, peacefully staying in the position that she was in with Kedrick. For once, for some time, she felt completely safe.
After some time of silence, she sat herself up and looked at Kedrick with a small warm smile. "Thank you, Kedrick." She had repeated it again, she knew, but she was thankful. He had comforted completely and if he hadn't been in the room with her, she'd probably still be a crying wreck.
She wiped her face, even though most of her tears had dried up by then. "W-Was there something you had come to my room for, before all this?" She remembered that he had knocked on her door during her phone call, so it had to be something of importance. She wanted to apologize for everything again, but she just couldn't get herself to form the words, afraid she would start crying again.

Kedrick smiled at her, his hand still resting on the back of her head where he had been smoothing her hair. "Not tonight." He said simply. "I had thought about going to see my sister, but I know she'll be alright...tomorrow morning maybe." He said gently, standing up. "Are you hungry? Do you need something to eat." He asked, suddenly feeling that he would do absolutely anything this girl.

So it was about seeing Athena, Arielle thought, a small frown appearing on her face. She didn't know what was completely wrong with her, but she still hoped she was alright. At least we'll see her tomorrow, Arielle added in her thoughts, more positively. She was actually a bit excited about meeting more of Kedrick's family, even if it wasn't the most ideal situation to meet them in.
She looked up at Kedrick as he asked her if she was hungry. With everything that had just happened, she didn't really feel hungry, but she needed to get her mind off of things. "No, I'm not that hungry. Maybe a drink would be good. But I'll get it myself, you don't have to get it for me." She stood up slowly, staring at her phone. "Guess it's time I call Maria," she added with a mutter as she grabbed her phone. I can't let this keep going on forever. This has to end.

Kedrick stood up from where he had sat on her bed as Arielle picked up her phone. "Hey." He said, reaching out and grabbing her shoulder "Are you sure you're okay?" He asked, a slight crease between his brow. He was worried for Arielle, he knew that it took longer than a few minutes for the shock of telling someone to wear off, it had taken Dimitri the better part of an hour. Kedrick was also worried about tomorrow, what was he...no...what where they going to do when it was time for Arielle to see Jonsey? Kedrick wasn't sure whether he was going to let Arielle go period, but he certainly wasn't going to let her go alone.

"Yeah, I'm fine," Arielle said distantly as sh opened her phone and and speed dialed Maria. She knew telling this news to Maria was going to make her worry. Her grandparents, if she told them what happened Jonesy's meeting from before she met Kedrick and the one she was supposed to have, she knew they'd stop her from going. After about the third ring, Maria finally picked up.
"Hey Arielle," Maria said sleepily. She must have been taking a nap. When Arielle didn't say anything for awhile, Maria spoke again, sounding more worried, "Ari, are you there? Are you okay?"
Arielle sighed, suddenly getting cold feet. "Maria....It's about Jonesy."
Now it was Maria's turn to be silent but that didn't last for long, "I should've known when he took you away the first time that he was going to mess up your life. What does he want with you this time? Does Kedrick know about him?"
"Kedrick knows. I just told him about him," Arielle responded rather slowly, "And he wants to meet me, tomorrow."
"And you're going?" Maria asked, her voice wanting to believe that at all, "And even if you are, you're not going by yourself, please don't say so Ari."
Arielle sighed sadly, "I have to. I got myself into this and I'm going to get myself out of it."
"Are you crazy? That man literally abducted the last time we saw him, and you're being foolish enough to go on your own!" Maria started, feeling somewhat stressed, "This man is dangerous and I know he's not going to hesitate in taking you away again. You know my dad's the police chief. Just let them take care of it."
"I'm not getting anyone else involved!" Arielle responded back angrily, "If I don't go he's going to hurt Kedrick, and who knows who else he'll hurt. I'm not risking anyone for that, just let me go on my own."
There was more silence, from both ends this time, before Maria finally spoke again, a bit more calmly this time. "Arielle, if Kedrick is anywhere near, give him the phone, I need to talk to him. No ifs or buts, just give him the phone. Then, I want you to leave the room your in and go somewhere and just relax. Hurry, please."
Arielle wanted to argue back, but Maria sounded gravely serious, which was always something rare. She sighed and turned to Kedrick, giving him the phone. "It's Maria, she wants to talk to you. I'll be in your grandfather's study if you need me." She placed it in his hand before walking back downstairs into the living room, taking the book she was reading, and headed back to study, as silent tears fell down her cheeks again.
As soon as Kedrick had the phone, Maria didn't hesitate to start speaking. "Kedrick, are you alright?"

Kedrick replied to her the moment the words where out of her mouth. "I'm fine, she's not." He said simply, sinking down on to the first available surface, Arielle's bed. He felt clogged with emotion, the way Arielle had been talking to Maria it sounded as though she had decided to go alone. "I'm worried about her Maria, she can't go by herself, I won't let her. I don't care if this guys hurts me, I'll go and see him and deck him while I'm at it but I ca...I can't....let her go...I can't let him hurt her..." He said trailing of as he realized he had been rambling. He didn't really feel embarrassed over his run-on sentence, there was no room in him for that. His voice was cracked, and strained, he sounded as though he was on the verge of a break down. But Kedrick drew in a slow breath,pulling himself together. If he fell apart, who would take care of Arielle? He couldn't let Maria shoulder this, it was dangerous for any girl it face a guy like Jonsey, it was even potentially dangerous for him, but Kedrick couldn't bear the thought of either of them getting hurt, he had had enough of that.

Maria just listened to Kedrick, not saying a single word. She could tell that he was deeply worried for Arielle, just like herself. She knew that Arielle was trying to be responsible, but this situation was way more extreme then the normal. When Kedrick had finished, Maria sighed but there was a small smile on her face. "Don't worry, she won't be doing this on her own. I've been planning something for this, just in case a day like this would happen. My dad's the police chief, so this should work out fine."

Kedrick paused a moment, feeling slightly lost. Maria had a plan? he didn't have to shoulder the thinking part himself? "A...Are you sure?" He asked numbly, resting back on his elbow. "You're sure no one...especially Arielle, will get hurt?" He cleared his throat, thinking now that maybe this wasn't the appropriate time to ask that. He fumbled for words a moment before picking up a more mature train of thought. "Can you explain it to me? or is this not the time?" Kedrick asked, still unable to feel anything but a numb relief.

"Of course I'm sure," Maria said positively, "If this plan works out perfectly, which I know it should, then we'll be fine. It's just knowing what time and place they're going to be at is the problem." She paused, pacing around her room. She was feeling nervous about this idea now. "Don't worry, I'll tell you. But it may sound a bit crazy."

Kedrick stood up mirroring Maria's movements as she paced around her room. "Okay..." Her said nervously. Was 'crazy' the ideal word to describe a plan he was trusting so much to? He ran his fingers though his hair, it was still slightly damp from his shower earlier that day, though something like that seemed like forever ago. "Tell me." He said simply, now that he was done spilling out everything he was thinking he didn't really feel like wasting words.

"Alright then," Maria responded with a nod, gathering her thoughts together, "What I need you to do is keep an eye on Arielle at all times tomorrow, which I know you'll do. When she leaves to meet with Jonesy, let her. She has to think that you aren't following her. After about five minutes, follow after her. If I'm right, they'll probably meet in some old warehouse near one of the older parks. It's one place he had her come to. If I'm wrong, then you have to make sure you keep close enough to her not to get caught when she leaves."
Maria paused, still pacing around, "I'll tell my dad about this right after the phone call. He sees Arielle as a daughter since we're so close, and he'll jump along with it. He'll have his men stationed in the three different areas that I know the most about from Arielle. When you find her and Jonesy, don't just burst out into the open, that'll get you into trouble quicker. Wait it out until Arielle seems to be in the most danger. When that happens, send me a text message and I'll signal my dad and the whole place will be surrounded. And that's the plan."

Kedrick's began to become frantic. "Maria, you're right. That is crazy...." He ran his fingers though his hair again, this time pausing about half way through gripping at his hair to try and relive some of the tension he was feeling inside. "Okay....But I understand...I'll do it...." Kedrick sat back down on the bed, still fighting between his thoughts, even letting Arielle go was completely contrary to what he had had in mind. " The most danger huh?" He asked numbly. "Okay, keep your phone on then, I really don't want to take any risks with this..."

Maria laughed, knowing that it did sounded crazy once she spoke about it. In her thoughts though, it was one of the most brilliant ideas she ever had. "Thanks, Kedrick. It's our best shot to locking this guy up and stopping him from hurting Arielle anymore. I'm worried about this plan though... As amazing of an idea it is, if there's one thing that just doesn't work right, we'll lose her..." Her voice got quiet at that point, stopping her pacing and plopping down on her bed. She couldn't doubt her plan or she'd jinx the success. "But I trust my dad's men and I trust you. Just promise me you don't go into hero mode before we get there, alright? I know you love her, but if she sees that you're in any danger, she'll give herself up easily..."
Memories of the time Arielle told her to run came back into her head, causing Maria to frown. "Don't worry about my phone. It's like another part of my body. I'll see you tomorrow Kedrick, please be careful." The conversation ended and Maria could only sigh before leaving her room and heading to her father's office.
During the time of the phone call, Arielle tried to wonder what Maria and Kedrick had been talking about. She could hardly bring herself to read the book anymore. She just sat on the floor, hugging her knees to her chest. She was scared to death about seeing Jonesy, knowing there was a small chance of her getting out of there easily. As long as they're safe, then it doesn't matter, Arielle thought, knowing that it was just the way it had to be.
